I've been doing a reread of my own series and it's crazy how much I've missed these characters! Booker and Poppy were sizzling from chapter freaking 3! Whoopee! I went for it with this book! It's fun to see how much I wrote with abandon for them. And every single one of their childhood flashbacks had me tearing up! Ugh. Lamb chop and sunshine were so many things.

I enjoyed this book until I didn’t. It had the potential to be a great friends-to-lovers romance but the hero pretty much ruined the book for me. He continually fought his feeling for the heroine throughout most of the book. For me, this type of trite plotline gets old and tedious real fast. By the time he finally opened his eyes and got his act together, I didn’t really care anymore. I also struggled with how “young adult” this book felt. For characters who’s ages ranged from mid 20’s to early 30’s, they sure behaved as if they were still in high school or college. The ending made me smile so I’ll give it that.

4 "She's like sunshine no matter what time of day it is," Stars!

A fun and emotional best friends to lovers romance.

Poppy & Booker grew up together. Poppy showed up just when Booker needed her, and that proceeded to happen back and forth for the rest of their young lives. Broken hearts and growing apart take them away from each other for six long years, but now they are back together as roommates, and maybe even more?

I loved Booker and Poppy's story. I loved how bubbly and fun Poppy was, and I loved that even though Booker was closed off and mellow he knows how to have fun around Poppy. This was just a great read. Well written. Entertaining, and it was so easy to FEEL what Poppy and Booker were feeling. There were quite a few times I was tearing up with how emotional their deep feelings for each other made me feel.

This book has all the feels. If you like best friends to lovers, then I highly recommend Keeper.

First, dammmn that is a fine cover...wiping my drool off my chin now!

Ok, now back to the actual book, I really enjoy the Harris brothers and this series. This series is my only experience with this author, but I'm a huge fan and she has knack for sports romance.
Booker could be a bit annoying with his stubbornness, but he was equally enduring. Poppy stole this one, she was quite awesome. Her quirky personality and quick whit are my favorite qualities. All the banter between Poppy and Andrew, laugh out loud fabulous!! I want an Andrew book!!

If you're a fan of sport romance, I say give the Harris brothers a go. I would start at the beginning, you'll get much more out of the rest.

Amy Daws has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I trust her with her words; I don't even read her blurb anymore. I'm so engrossed in the Harris Brothers that I need to know all about them.
Keeper is Booker's story and even if I wanted Gareth more, I also know I need to be patient and the rewards will be the perfect gift.

Once again, I'm in awe with how Amy writes a story that can be both emotional and fun. I've discovered her with Challenge and ever since I'm always laughing within the first 10% of the book. She knows how to put her readers' mind at ease and know how to captivate them right away. She gives characters depth, backstory and you are right away 100% invested in what is going to happen. In Endurance and in Keeper, she adds an emotional twist that I didn't suspect.

I thought Booker would be all amusing with no pressure but it wasn't. That man is a guy with insecurities and quite a lot of baggage. If I have one small thing to add it would be that I wanted a little more information on what Booker's childhood was. We got some flashbacks but I wanted more. It was maybe the only time where I felt I should have read Vi's story before because maybe there are some more insight of what the Harris brothers' life was. But really this is so small regarding to everything happening in the book.

I felt the attachment Poppy & Booker had. I felt the loss Booker had when Poppy left. I felt Poppy's helplessness when she had to face her feelings for her best friends. I felt everything that matters.

"There are certain people that cross your path in life whom you will change your entire direction to follow."

Poppy & Booker are endearing characters and being back to best friends when you didn't see each other for the last 6 years might be harder than they both thought. They are grown up and they've changed. Being back to their old-self is practically impossible.

Poppy has such a sparkling personality; it's futile to try to resist her. She hides a wound she had to keep for 6 long years but she's willing to let her past behind to have a fresh start.

“The pleasure of love lasts a moment, but the pain of losing it lasts a lifetime.”

As a keeper, Booker is always focus, he's an analyser but over the years he might have missed quite a few signs in his personal life. And there comes the emotional factor that took me completely off guards. Booker has a heart of gold but he's really not good with feelings and letting his heart feels true emotions.

When the attraction becomes too much, resisting was futile. Giving in was the only option even if nothing will be the same, maybe it's for the best, maybe it's what needed to happen.

“You smell so fucking good here.” He kisses my belly and crawls up my body, holding himself off of me with his muscled arms. “And here.” He kisses the divot between my breasts. “Here.” He kisses the space below my ear. “Here.” He kisses my lips. “Everywhere. And I’m going to fucking taste you again because you are making me lose my bloody mind, Poppy.”

Being with a Harris means bonding with a bunch of other people. Family is important and to get back with all of them was as usual the cherry on the cake. The twins are still so funny, Vi is the mommy we all want and Gareth is still a mystery I want to unwrap.

Now that I'be been a good girl can I have my reward?

4 in the net stars!

I love the Harris family. Their bond from losing their mother too soon is something to admire. Their constant bickering and bantering is hilarious. I love how they always stick their nose into everyone else’s business, with all the love in the world, of course! Now was time for baby Booker to get his turn at his HEA. The baby of the family, Booker doesn’t remember his mother at all, and has grown up believing that loving anyone outside of the family means losing them and isn’t worth the risk.

Booker and Poppy have been best friends since the age of 7, when they ran into each other in the forest between their two houses. They were thick as thieves until they were 18 and Booker unknowingly broke Poppy’s heart and she ran off to university in Germany to mend her broken heart. 6 years later and Poppy is back and Booker has offered her a room in her apartment while she waits for her new job to start. The sexual tension was there from the minute they reunite.

There’s been a void in my life these last few years, and I think it was the absence of her. God I’ve missed her.

The flashbacks to when they were kids were really sweet and endearing, giving us so many feelings and emotions to what they two have gone through together and just how much they mean to each other.

“Who will make sure I make it to Heaven now?” He exhales and wipes a tear running down my nose. “You have me for that, silly.”

I loved Booker like you love an annoying younger sibling, never giving up on them, but sometimes you just want to shake them! It took him much too long, in my opinion, to come to grips with his emotions and what he was actually feeling for Poppy. For a goalkeeper and someone that knows how to read a situation, he sure was oblivious to what was right in front of him at times. I did get a little tired of hearing just how scared he was to lose Poppy as a friend…it was at least a dozen times.

“Poppy, you are everything I want as a man and everything I took for granted as a boy.”

Poppy was so much fun. She’s a bit quirky, quite a bit clumsy and still trying to figure out life. The relationship she had with their downstairs neighbour and workout buddy, Andrew, was hilarious. I want an Andrew of my own – and he MUST have a thick Scottish brogue!

“If Booker Harris doesnae fall for ye after tonight, I’m turning straight and dating ye myself, Poppet. Ye look pure, dead brilliant. A proper bonny lass.”

This was a very sweet story about long-time best friends becoming more. Another fun read in the Harris family saga.

“But, Booker, nothing loved is ever lost. It’s kept forever inside your heart.” I roll my eyes but reach down and hold her arms around me. “I don’t ever want to lose you, Poppy.” She half smiles and sings, “I’ll never leave you, Booker.”

The whole time I wanted to shake this girl and tell her to stop doing what she was doing!
She was playing some silly games and basically trying to force herself on her ex-best friend who she didn’t see for 6 years.

I didn’t buy the friends-to-lovers here. Usually this kind of stories have depth to them. They are showing friendship turning to love while here the only thing I saw was sex.

The beginning was not bad.
The girl moves away to another country to put a distance between her and her bf who she has a huge crush on -well played, I appreciate the effort, I would advise the same.
She comes back looking gorgeous after trilling adventures abroad - well done, you go girl!

But then you can throw away all the effort because instead of finding a common ground and trying to learn each other again she is forcing the guy to have some meaningless one night stands… trying very hard (and pathetically at times) to seduce him. She even makes his family involved in helping her.

Some hints she didn’t see:

“I care for her. Deeply. I would be f*ing devastated if something happened to her, but do I love her? No, Vi. I don’t. I don’t have the space to love her like that.”

“Just because I’m close to my family doesn’t mean I want to make a family of my own. I’m busy enough handling all their mania. Creating my own would be exhausting.”

Nope.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

*5 Stars*

Audiobook kindly received from author in exchange for an honest review.

I’m new to audiobooks, so new that this is only my second one. And the first one was Endurance, the book before this one in the Harris Brothers series.

I loved Will Watt and Lottie Cole as narrators for Endurance, but for Keeper? Wow! These guys were born to narrate these two characters.

Listenting to this on audio, brings all the feels and more that I had whilst I read the book earlier in the year when it was released. Will does Booker perfectly and the secondary character accents in Irish (Nigel) and particularly the Scottish accent (Andrew) are fabulous as well. Man, the Scottish accent? I literally giggled loud and hard like a schoolgirl the first part of the book that it appeared in. It made me so happy! And Will is so good, that just like if I was talking to someone with the Scottish accent, I couldn’t clearly decipher it all. A Scottish person probably could, but little old me over here in Australia? Nup. Most of it yes, but not all of it.

Will and Lottie bringing life to this story is just so much fun and also so emotional. I swear, this audiobook is perfection. Lottie perfectly does Poppy’s parts where she sings as she talks, and just the emotion in all the voices in the tense or emotional scenes is fabulous.

Particular scenes like the one with Vi and Booker after he babysits Rocky one night, they really showcase how well these two work at bringing the emotion to the forefront. And the scenes where its the three girls, Poppy, Indie and Belle, they’re so much fun too!

Both Will and Lottie make it easy to distinguish which character is speaking, and they really bring out their personalities. If the characters are laughing, you’re laughing, if they’re crying, you’re crying, if there is angst or anguish or anger, you feel it to. I will admit to grinning like a fool while listening to this, and also trying to hold back the tears. If people had seen me they would’ve wondered who the crazy person was 😉

Amy Daws has done such a fabulous job writing this novel, its my fave Harris Brothers book so far, I absolutely ADORE Booker and having these two narrate is, as I said before, perfection.

If you’re more into listening to a book rather than reading it, THEN GET KEEPER! If you like to read a book but also listen to the audio, THEN GET KEEPER! Pretty much, JUST GET KEEPER! You won’t regret it!

ORIGINAL REVIEW OF EBOOK

*5 Stars*

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

Hot damn Booker Harris, you're in my net. This is the 3rd book in the Harris Brothers series, and I'm absolutely loving all of their stories. The dynamic of this family is amazing.

I'll go balls deep with them every time.

This novel is Bookers story. He's the youngest of the bunch and like his older brothers he plays soccer (footy for the Brits), and he's the Keeper for his team.

Booker is sick of being seen as the baby brother, but he also has a lot of issues he needs to come to terms with. Things he doesn't even realise to begin with really. He needs his eyes opened, and Poppy, his best friend from his childhood, might just be the one to do it.

Poppy is a pretty cool character, she fits right in with Indie and Belle. She's quirky and not afraid to show her true self to people. She is how she is and thats all there is to it.

Booker is just so damned adorable and I loved watching he and Poppy grow, and learning all about how they work/fit together. I particularly loved the moments when he would "Keeper" her.

Andrew was a great secondary character in this one, and of course we got Cam, Tanner, Gareth and Vi back as well as their Dad and respective partners. I really do love this family.

This one had lots of feels, moments where I was like "Im not crying, you're crying" - but in a good way, I promise. I'd get frustrated with the characters, I'd laugh with them, I'd get smug when they did, and I fell in love with them.

Booker might just be my fave Harris. It's between him and Cam, I can't decide. *sigh*

You'll love Booker, in all his Keeper glory, with all his insecurities and his typical Harris moments. Baby Booker, you're in my net, what a Keeper *swoon*.

I fly through these books in no time, and I can't wait for Gareths book, which is the next one we can expect from Amy. I highly recommend this series.

I tried so hard, even after 4% and a terrible, juvenile STD joke (sorry, don't love stigma around any diseases. Like saying lung cancer is deserved if you exhibit risk behavior. STIs can have devastating consequences and are not funny to me, I guess. Iirc, this is a typical fallback and I struggled with rape and promiscuity jokes in the second of this series.) I was saying I tried, but I became quickly fatigued. I don't have it in me.

Oh goodness me, just when I thought this series couldn’t get better Amy goes and hits me up with Booker Harris and HOT DAMN, he was absolutely everything and more.

Booker and Poppy are best friends, ever since boomers eyes landed on the girl with the dirty dress he knew they’d be friends forever. Hearing about their childhood is so incredibly adorable and left me in awe. They were so cute. After that one horrible night ending with Poppy leaving for Germany she finally comes back 6 years later, ready to continue with their friendship and watching them do so is like a damn rollercoaster ride. 6 year apart is going to bring change and these two definitely notice the changes and it’s fun to watch these two discover them.

Booker broke my damn heart with how he feels towards love, I just wanted to wrap him in my arms and squeeze the shit out of him. The poor lad knows loss and fears love, that must be extremely hard to love with.

As always those other Harris brothers and sister and dad make an appearance and I damn well loved it. This series wouldn’t be the same of ALL of the Harris’ weren’t mentioned in it at some point, especially the twins and vi. The twins (Tanner and Camden) are absolutely hilarious when placed together and Vi, she’s such a lovely sister always trying to help and that’s beautiful to see even when she’s interfering too much lol.

Oh and let’s no forget aboot Andrew, I loved that man so hard and the fact that Amy nailed that Scottish accent had me smiling so damn hard, it was fucking perfect!

Amy Daws has blew me away with yet another amazing book, I simply can NOT wait for Gareth, his story is going to be epic, I can just feel it. Once again, all the damn stars for this Harris bro!

This was okay apart from my least favourite trope appearing out of nowhere. However, book three and I’m finding this felt all too familiar. I enjoyed books one and two but needed something a bit more fresh for the third offering.

Great duet narration.

I popped my Amy Daws cherry with this one, and I can't believe it has taken me this long. Keeper is a standalone but part of a series spin off, It can read before the others but I will definitely be going back to read them.

Booker Harris is a professional Goalkeeper, who's life was turned upside down when his childhood best friend left for Germany for college without giving him a proper goodbye, Fast Forward 6 years and Poppy returns to take a teaching job. What will happen when these reunite and will it all change when the two best friends become Room Mates?

Booker is the alpha male we can all love, He is hot, Sexy the whole package but Booker believes he isn't capable to love outside his family and friends. Poppy is a very head strong woman and I loved her Witt and humour. There were times I wanted to slap Booker and shout 'Open your eyes' and 'Come on Man' and when a book has me talking to myself I know it's something special. And my major heart melting moment came in Chapter 24, which changed this from a Four Star Read to a Five Star. Yes my eyes were glassy!!!

A truly amazing book filled with drama, heart melting moments, super sexy moments and a rocky and not so smoothly journey from friends to lovers, definitely a must read!!

Caratteristiche: sport-romance, friends-to-lovers
Stile narrativo: scorrevole
Tipo di finale: auto-conclusivo
Voto: 4 stelle

Oh Booker! How can you not love him????

The Harris brothers are a group of men who know what they want (well, sometimes) and will go after it and fight for it.

The chemistry between Booker and Poppy was perfect! Their connection never faded, even over time. But, they had their ups and downs and everything in-between.

I loved reading all the Harris boys books, go grab this one! And make sure you grab Booker's brothers books too!

This is the third book in the Harris series. It's Booker's story the youngest in the family. His life hasnt been easy being the youngest in the Harris family. But the one person that made it easier was Poppy his child good friend. They have been close since they were 7 and code ever since. Well until things got a lil sticky and Poppy left him to go to Uni in Germany. Now 6 year later she is back and feeling ate goin crazy. The only think is Booker doesn't do love. Even though Poppy means the world to him he has alway found it hard to love outside of his family. But now seeing Poppy after 6 years things are goin to be hard to keep her in the friend zone.

Poppy is a great girl she is quirky fun loving and sometime clumsy. But has alway had a great relationship with Booker he is the friend that would do stupid things with her and make her laugh. But after things got weird and she moved to Germany for Uni things weren't the same between them. Know she was back and was goin to be his Roomate, what could go wrong.

This story was so good it's full of sexual tension heart breaking moments and fun. I really enjoying friends to lovers story and this was great. Booker and Poppy were meant to be together. They both hard to fight there feelings in some way but Booker did make it hard work when I did want to slap him at times. He has this sexy gorgeous woman in front of him and he couldn't see it or didn't want to. These Harris brother are just amazing I luv them all so far it's so hard to choice my favourite cause they are all sexy alpha men. I m dying to Gareth book but I don't want this series to end. I would highly recommend this book of you haven't read it yet do you won't regret it.

Another great book by Amy Daws!! Keeper can definitely be read as a standalone as I have not read either of the first two books in this series. Booker's brothers do make appearances in this book but they do not overshadow anything in this book.

One thing that I can tell you that stands out in this book is how close and tight the Harris family is. They are all in each other's lives and know what's going on constantly with one another and Amy portrays that very well. It's not annoying in the least and you can feel the closeness of them all - it's contagious. And I have no doubt that is probably the same feeling in her other books as well with these brothers.

Keeper is Booker's story. He's the baby of the family. The one who was always trying to keep up with his older brothers. Until Poppy came along. Poppy saw Booker as an equal - he never had to prove himself. They were best friends til she moved to Germany. Now she's returning home for a job and they become roommates. Booker and Poppy believe everything will be back to the way it was before she left. But neither are who they were six years ago.

Amy does a great job of writing a very tension-filled friendship between these two. Poppy refuses to let her walls down again and get hurt. Booker refuses to lose his friend again because he can't control his raging hormones as if he's a teen again. But the more they fight it, the more they realize they're just pushing each other away. We always take for granted the ones we love the most.

I really enjoyed this story. I didn't love it as much as her others, but it was still very good. I am looking forward to Gareth's book, which I am hoping it next in her line up!!

I fell in love with the Harris brothers the moment I started reading Challenge and as the series progresses they just keep getting better and better. Camden was firmly sitting pretty as my favorite Harris brother up until I read Keeper. Why? Two words: Booker Harris. *swoon* That man. Sweet baby Jesus. He is now sitting pretty at the top of my Harris brother totem pole with Camden right behind him.

Not only does Keeper have the dreamy Booker Harris, but Poppy is adorable and quirky. Seeing her fall into an immediate friendship with Belle and Indie was so fun. Especially once Belle's crazy started showing. I seriously want to be best friends with these girls.

If you have yet to meet the Harris brothers, you are missing out on truly wonderful books. Amy Daws weaves romance, sports, and amazing family dynamics to create stories that are both funny and romantic. Angst. Humor. Romance. Desire. It's all part of her magic.

Amy Daws you, my dear, are a freaking genius . Never stop writing.

This is the first book I've picked up by Amy Daws, but I have had my eye on her soccer romances for a long time now. I mean, with covers like that, who wouldn't? While Booker may be the youngest of the Harris brothers, he's definitely not the last brother I plan on reading about now!

Booker Harris is living his dream as a football (soccer here in America) player alongside his brothers. When he gets a message from his best childhood friend that she's moving back to England, he doesn't hesitate to offer up his flat for her to stay in until her's opens up. Poppy left England brokenhearted and ready to start fresh, but six years later and she's sure she's over her feelings for Booker. But the moment she's sharing space with him, Poppy feels those old feelings coming back. Poppy isn't the same 18-year-old girl she was when she left and Booker is confused for the things he's feeling for her, feelings that are definitely not best friend feelings. But can the two risk losing their friendship to see what this newfound attraction has in store for them?

Have I mentioned that I love everything that has to do with England? Because I do. The fact that these characters are British and living in England made me love this book ten times more. And I already loved this book as it is. You can never go wrong with a friends-to-lovers romance, and I loved how Booker and Poppy hadn't seen each other in six years. Booker is a man now and Poppy has really changed and blossomed as a woman. It was so fun watching Booker take in the new Poppy and try to ignore how attracted he was to her. Of course, Poppy had already had feelings for Booker before she left, but it was nice how she didn't let that cloud her judgement when it came to trusting Booker again.

Since Booker is a soccer player, I loved the moments we got of him playing soccer and working out. Of course he's going to be in amazing shape being a professional athlete and it was fun how Poppy could appreciate how defined his physique had become. What also made this book so good was the fact that Booker had such a big, loving family that was a huge part of who he was. I loved every moment the family was together and how important they were to Booker and the decisions he made in life. I am definitely going to pick up the other books in this series so I can watch all of the other Harris siblings fall in love.

If you haven't picked up a book by Amy Daws and you're a sports romance lover, you HAVE to check the Harris Brothers series. These boys are irresistibly talented and infuriatingly addicting. Their fierce loyalty to their families and the women they love is admirable and you won't be able to help but swoon with each turn of the page.

AMAZINNG..!!!!

REVIEW TO COME SOON..!!

This is the third book of the Harris Brothers series and this is about the youngest Harris Brother, BOOKER HARRIS..!!

This story is about two childhood friends re-uniting after 6 years. Booker and Poppy have been friends since they were little kids. This is an amazing story about over coming the fear of loss and accepting the love that people so want to give it to you.

BOoker Harris is a very intriguing character. He is amazingly hot with his Keeper Hands. He has a trouble accepting "Love" from the people who are not his family. He is way too afraid of becoming weak and making his family suffer by becoming selfish.

Poppy is a very fun character. I loved her POV. She is funny and cute with her short hair and happy and weird personality. It was a joy to see her drool over Booker and she took us right along with her.

Both of them had an amazing chemistry and they each had their emotional battles to deal with. I don't want to reveal anything, but it was a great addition to this series and I can't wait for the next Harris brother.

The only problem I had was

A MUST READ SERIES...!!! HILARIOUS AND EMOTIONAL AND HOT BROTHERS BANTER..!!! TANNER WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE.. ;-)

UPDATE: Second "read" was actually the audiobook.. and my, oh my, I was swooning away, and laughing and crying. Absolutely amazing!!!!!!

You know I was sorta steadfast on Tanner being my favorite Amy Daws hero.. yes, there was soulful, hurt, beautiful Hayden... and leave-me-swooning-and-drooling, brooding glassed Theo.. but Tanner was that juust right mix between deep, vulnerable.. and alpha sexiness..

In comes Booker. Booker is the unassuming kind.. quiet, reserved.. not all that take-charge attitude. Unless he is on the pitch.. OR. With Poppy McAdams. His best friend. Who he couldn't possibly fancy.......
Or does he? ;)

Amy Daws once again managed to capture me in this story.. that, while seemingly a straight-forward best friends to lovers romance at first glance, is sure to surprise you with so much more. To go on the journey with Booker and Poppy, and their way to finally opening up and realizing their feelings, along all the little blips and things, was truly enjoyable... got me hot under the collar, and was absolutely delightful.
May I have felt thoroughly hot from a sexy scene, and had my heart broken minutes later, followed by heart eyes at some sweetness? Why yes, yes, I may. In the best possible way.

I can't wait for everyone to meet silent, held back Booker and for the first time see how much he CAN take charge.. and I look forward to them falling in love with the sexy, brash, bubbly, badass Poppy.

On to Gareth we go!

5 Keepering Stars

This book--AHHHH!!!! It had all the feels. On one page I was laughing and ten pages later I was crying. Daws kept me flipping through, eating up the words until I was disappointed because I'd reached the end. I don't believe in leaving a play by play review of what happened in the book, but just know this. Keeper has a well executed story line, well developed characters you will fall in love with, perfectly steamy chemistry between Poppy and Booker (so much so you can feel the electricity jump off the screen), and an ending that will leave you begging for more because you'll just want it to go on and on and on. This book was one of my 2017 favorites!

Lesson to be learnt...if you and your best friend share a sacred place, under NO circumstances take another girl there and get busy❗️They were best friends until they became roommates. Booker Harris is the best goalkeeper in the Championship League. Tired of living in the shadows of his brothers, he’s finally carved his own path.

Poppy McAdams has always been a force of nature, imaginative and creative until the day Booker happened upon her secret hideaway.
They soon became fast friends.

Poppy awakened one day and realised she felt more for him than best friends. Her plan to confess her feelings were derailed. The night she was prepared to confess her feelings to him, he takes someone else to their ‘place’ and she catches him in a compromising position, breaking her heart.

She’d planned to march into his bedroom and declare that they belonged together but as she made her way through the park, approaching the halfway point between their houses, their tree came into view.

She saw someone sitting there and thought it perfect to profess her love for him by their tree! Booker was not alone, but was sitting on a blanket with a girl.
Her heart plummeting as she sees them lie down. His mouth is on hers, and I gasp when I see his hand slide up her skirt.
“Booker, wait.” I instantly recognise her as Sidney Carmichael—one of the more popular girls in school who lives down the street from us.
“Are you sure Poppy means nothing to you? This fort you built out here together seems very special.”
“She’s just a mate is all. I could never look at her the way I look at you.”
I watch in horror as he reaches out to grab the condom, but she holds it back and says, “I love you.”
I turn away, cupping my mouth as tears well in my eyes.

Of all the places Booker could have taken her, he brought her to their sanctuary, their tree. Their sacred place where they made their life decisions.

She abruptly leaves London for University...in Germany. Their parting was awkward, but over the years, they’d gradually started emailing and texting, occasional telephone calls. He could have visited her in Germany, but she was distant about her life. Even her timing when she came home for Christmas seemed intentional because he always happened to be playing elsewhere.

Poppy writes her old time childhood friend Booker with her return plans and he offers her temporary accommodation at his flat.

My Dearest Booker Harris,
I’m emailing to inform you that I’m moving back to London in a couple of weeks. Germany has been lovely, but I miss my home country. I thought you might like to know. ;) -Poppy

Miss Surprising Poppy McAdams,
Wait…wait…What? You’re coming back? Where are you living? Why are you coming back? Did you get a new job? It’s been six years since I laid eyes on you, and you inform me you’re coming back via email? Call me sensitive, but is your mobile broken? -Booker

She’s now returned after a six year absence and gone is the awkward girl from his youth, having been replaced by a stunning woman with secrets, temporarily staying with him until her lease becomes available.

Booker’s offer was awfully sweet and incredibly unexpected, but commuting would have been a nightmare, and his flat is very close to the school. Booker was her best friend and she hadn’t seen him since she was nineteen. What better way to reconnect with an old friend than to move in with him for an extended period of time?

They never crossed that line of friendship as he watched his brothers break countless girls’ hearts. Each time he started to get attached to one of their girlfriends, they’d vanish, never to be seen again.

He keeps his inner circle limited to family. Caring about too many people increases the risk of heartbreak. Poppy’s the only real friend he has other than family or teammates. He’d felt a sense of defection when she said she was leaving (she’d felt betrayed that he took a girl to a place she’d felt a connection to), she left and he immersed himself into football.

She’s no longer in love with Booker. They’re best friends and nothing more, which is a relief as her eighteen-year-old self was a deluded cow. She almost ruined everything by sharing those silly feelings. She was such an imaginative child that she warped basic acts of friendship into acts of true love.

Booker is emotionally insecure and stunted. She declared her feelings and he’s consumed with losing her friendship, this isn’t merely an act of being
friend-zoned but an entire region.

Vi’s reverse psychology:::
“What responsibility are you referring to exactly?”
“Being a family man, we just talked about all the issues you have because of Mum’s death. You’re clearly not emotionally capable of being in love, let alone being a father. You need to have an open heart. And if you can’t love Poppy, you won’t be able to love the baby.”
“What the hell are you going on about? You sound completely mental!”
“Well I’m just saying. Loving a baby is hard. They don’t give you much to go on.”
“I love Rocky,”
“Well, now maybe. She’s older and she smiles and giggles. That makes it easier. As newborns, they take and take and take.”
“You’ve completely lost it, Vi. I loved Rocky the second she was born.”
“Booker, I know you. And I know what’s best for you. Take my advice here. You’re better off this way. I’m sure Poppy will let you be a part of the baby’s life in some small way.”
“@#$ that! I don’t want some small way.”
“But it’s what’s best,” she states firmly.
“For whom exactly?”
“For everyone. If you’re not terrified of losing Poppy every day of your life, she’s not the one for you.” I huff out a laugh and begin pacing.

“Poppy, I never slept with Sidney out here. She told me she loved me and tried to use sex to manipulate me into saying things I didn’t feel. The second she did, I knew we were over. I never slept with her that night or any night. I’ve never said those words to her or anyone who isn’t family. Ever. Sidney asked me to bring her out here because I would never shut up about you. I took her to that hospital charity last year because you weren’t here, and Sidney feels safe because I feel nothing for her. The whole time you were in Germany, I never settled down with anyone because they weren’t you. I’ve certainly never brought them to Harris Sunday dinners. I need you to know that you’re different.”
“I believe I’m different, Booker, but only because we’re best friends and that’s all.”

Honestly, I wouldn’t want him even if gift-wrapped, as his redemption was delayed and forcibly extracted from him.

5 Crazy Ass Must Read In One Sitting Stars!!!!!

Laughter, tears, off-the-charts chemistry, heart-break, heart-ache, swoons, smiles, and tons of Harris' crazy abound in this latest installment to the Harris Brothers series.
So I had all the intentions of posting a pic of this on my kindle when I was about to start reading early this morning. A strange thing happened. It actually has not happened to me in a while so that's the strange part. I read this in one sitting! Yeah, I know! I have not been this engrossed in a book in a while that I haven't been able to put it done at least for a couple of hours to run errands and such. Yeah I started at around 7 am and the next thing I know it's 12:45pm. Yeah, errands schmerrands! Seriously though, I have not been so engrossed in a book like I was with this one. Totally had to give this it's own rating too!
I love this series. Actually, I've loved everything I've read by Amy Daws and this book was no different. It was great to get Booker's (and Poppy's) story. He has intrigued me a lot in Endurance. I loved Poppy and all her quirkiness. She cracked me up quite a few times.
Amy Daws totally rocked this! One of my favorite things when reading a series is to have characters from previous series have a part in the current series. So you can safely say I loved the little cameo appearances of Theo and Brody. And I love that Amy continues to do this.
I am looking forward for Gareth's story next. I have been wanting his story since Vi's story in That One Moment (London Lovers series). Let the Crazy Ass Stalking commence because I need to find out when this Harris Brother will be hitting the virtual shelves.

Audible Review Update:
Overall 5 Crazy Ass Must Listen Stars!!!!!
Performance 5 Stars
Story 5 Stars

I absolutely loved the audiobook! I could listen to Will and Charlotte all day. Oh, wait. I did listen to them all day.
When I first read this book back in Sept, I absolutely loved it. Booker and Poppy's story drew me in so much so that I read it in one sitting while ignoring errands I need to run. Thankfully, that was not the problem with the audiobook. The problem came while I was running to the grocery story for a couple of things earlier and spent 45 mins in my car listening to Will and Charlotte. Gosh, those two nailed the narration! They totally fit Booker and Poppy perfectly.
I thought the two of them did a great job with the narration of Endurance but I think they topped that with the addition of the Irish and Scottish accents. Amy, you were so right when you said the Scottish accent was a "show stealer". Loved it. I may or may not have bookmarked those scenes so that I can listen to them over and over. HA!
I didn't think this story could get better but the narration totally made it more. Will and Charlotte totally brought all the characters to life and gave the story additional depth.

4 Keep Me CROWNS

I love the Harris family. Every single one of them. Booker, though, is my favorite so far. His journey, along with Poppy, from friends to lovers is filled with heartwarming childhood memories, painful past mistakes, and heated and intimate moments in the present.

Booker Harris is so broken, but he isn't the standard shattered hero. His pain and issues stem from a childhood loss, and unlike most broken characters, his symptoms do not appear on the surface. Booker appears to be the well-adjusted little brother of the Harris clan. He isn't crazy like his twins or temperamental like his oldest brother but is this more peaceful and protective man. His protectiveness does not just extend, though, to those in his family but to himself as well. It is rare to find a male hero who is so protective of his own heart, to the point where he isolates himself in order to avoid being hurt and abandoned. His fear of love drives most of his choices, and it is heartbreaking to watch this incredibly lovable character refuse to acknowledge his love out of fear.

Poppy is such a vibrant heroine. Her energy is infectious, and people, readers included, cannot help but fall under her charms. Her quirkiness is endearing, and I love that way she brings out a different and more caring side of Booker. Readers do fall in love with him because of the way he is with her.

This story is your traditional friends to lovers trope. The basic story-line follows that of two friends who long to be more. What will keep readers engaged, though, is the slips between the characters as they attempt to navigate the carefully constructed line of friends and lovers. The conflict is one that I didn't see coming but makes perfect sense with the character development of Booker and Poppy, and the falling action with the grand gesture is perfect. I was a puddle of goo in the hands of this hero. The resolution of the story brings the characters full circle, and I am so at peace with the way Amy Daws leaves these characters.

Another Harris brother down, and I couldn't have enjoyed Booker and Poppy's story more. This friends to lovers story gives readers everything: romance, friendship, heat, and passion. There is no way readers won't enjoy the journey.

Need, Feel, keep.
These are the keywords in this friends to lovers romance. But these are also the 3 greatest skills of a great goalkeeper. Right?
And Booker Harris gets them all. Defending the net is his goal, his mission on the field. For doing that, he NEEDS concentration, he FEELS any offensive strategy, because he's able to estimate the speed and the trajectory of any ball. And must KEEPing his net "save" to give to his team, the gory it dreams of. Defending for him comes natural, effortless. But defending could also have its own disadvantages. And they becomes obvious with the only thing that really count for him: his best friend, Poppy. Because there are moments in the life of a goalkeeper when he have to risk more, to be brave Only this way he can earn his moment of glory. For Booker, the friendship with Poppy is everything, is HIS! And this is also his biggest fear. He wants to keep his dear friend forever. The problem is that such a strong friendship is one in a million, and it involves a myriads of feelings. One of all? Love! But Booker had blocked his own heart to it. He can't love, anyone besides his family. That's why he tries to deny his real feelings for Penny. But acting like that, can only make him lose her. Maybe that's why he really needs, a "cold shower" to realize that he not only cares a lot about Poppy, he's also madly in love with her. Booker NEEDS Poppy like his next breath, he FEELS Poppy like none else and he must KEEP her if he wants to know what real love is. Poppy is his sunshine, is his friend, is his net outside the field. She's the only one who can make him live his own haven, or get him on his knees. All he has to do is open his heart to love and reach out and touch his reality: Poppy.
And now? What's next? Well ladies get ready, cause he's the next one!!!! Gareth Harris will be like an electrical storm!!!!

I really do love these Harris brothers - I am all about their family dynamic! I enjoyed the first 2 books, but missed the sister's story because didn't realize this series was a spinoff from her book. This book Keeper was about the youngest brother and I just never really clicked with the whole thing. It was cute and had all the same fun that book 1 and 2 had...except I just never got excited about the couple. Not sure why because it had all the same fun and soccer brothers storyline. I actually pegged this at 3 stars about 1/2 way. But the love excuses were just so-so and the guilt can't love anyone storyline that popped up just didn't work, the banter got so annoying I resorted to skimming. I might end up finishing the series at some point but I haven't had that great of a connection with the last remaining brother - so I am not feeling the pull.
