Rita's Italian Ice has a special for National Frozen Custard Day.

Frozen custard and zucchini usually have little in common.

Except on Tuesday.

Aug. 8 is National Frozen Custard Day, National Zucchini Day and National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day.

Other made-up holidays for the day include International Cat Day, Happiness Happens Day and National Dollar Day.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, Thomas Roy, of Pennsylvania, designated the share with your neighbor zucchini day because summer squash grows so rapidly.

Along with his wife, Ruth, the two have created 80 special days including “No Housework Day” (May 6), “Evaluate Your Life Day” (Oct. 19) and “Crackers Over The Keyboard Day” (Aug. 28).

Here are some custard specials:

BurgerFi: Get a free small custard with any purchase when you mention the offer at the counter Tuesday. Available at all locations nationwide and one free custard per person. Find locations here.

Culver’s: Since locations are independently owned and operated, specials vary. Sign up here for email and text clubs for specials and coupons. Find locations here.

Rita’s Italian Ice: All locations will have kid-size frozen custard for 99 cents Tuesday and some stores also will have hand-scooped frozen custard for 99 cents, the company announced in a news release. For kid sizes, soft serve is usually $2.59 and hand-scooped is $3.79. Find locations here.
