I know why this series is so appealing to me, it's because he works for her. He works so hard for her, that made my heart melt. She's cold and standoffish at times, but they are unbelievably attracted to one another. And she needs him, even if she tries lying to herself. It's raw, baseline erotica - but there is a depth of feeling there with a fast track relationship, where he wants everything from her. I love his jealousy. His insecurities that drive him crazy. I love that he's not her first in anyway, but he wishes she was his, and he was hers. I love how neither of them have ever loved someone before, and how they have a phobia of being cheated on. But sometimes she's so unbelievably dismissive of his needs and careless that it's pure heartlessness. Transferring old photos and videos of nudes from other boyfriends/people onto her laptop, and not deleting them was crass. Especially when you know your husband wants transparency with everything you do, between himself and you therefore there was a real risk of him stumbling upon that. Spoiler: he finds it all and an old video dated two and a half years ago where she is giving head to a guy which eats him alive. She was just childish, acting shady, with her promotion deals and receiving offers for her scripts/modelling etc. “Austin was mine, she was always meant for me. She was my whole world. And he’d defiled it, recording her, touching her, like she was his.”
I hated Austin in this book though. From someone who loved her in the first two books, this transition was shocking. She was too much. Just a f*cking bitch really. Constantly threatening to cheat on him, constantly suggesting threesomes with other men to bait him, going arctic on him because of some phobia that HE will cheat, when she is the one with all the prerogative and destructive habits and has been caught in very troubling situations where HE has had to bail her out and pay for that sh*t. He's done nothing but prove his fidelity, so it got to a point for me where she was using him for her fame, her acting career and constantly making him feel hurt. His cheating phobia of her doing something when she was hurt was very real. Despite how much it hurt him, he pushes for her career, and tries to be okay with her spending time with her co-star Alec (gay), and all the other men she has to do kissing scenes with (the character of hers is one who cheats on her husband). She was selfish and too high maintenance. Give him a break. Sometimes, okay, I get it. But all the time...I wanted a power down button. Since the last two books, she's changed to become fake Hollywood (hair, weight, behaviour, schedule.) Frankly I didn't understand what he saw in her, but the ratio of her childishness in this book was too high and irritated me to my last nerve. She didn't deserve him.
The ending came out of no where to be honest, and suddenly they were settling in the last chapter and working out their problems. So I was really disappointed to be perfectly honest in the way this series played out.
Safety: It's safe. But, she is a destructive person, so there's been points where she's been slipped drugs and caught kissing other men, and her acting career also demands it. Their dating histories is a real cause of contention between them knowing they've both had sex with OP before since they are so obsessed with once another.
It's hard to believe that I liked book 1 and 2 but I can't continue after 35 pages of both of them being so insecure and annoying. I would think after getting married they would stop being so insecure but nope they're more insecure now.
This series is such a (not so) guilty pleasure for me! The obsession these two have with each other is like nothing I’ve ever read in another book and I fucking looooove it. In real life? Of course not this relationship would probably be considered somewhat abusive🥴but in a book 🍽️ I eat it right the fuck up. Like having a man so obsessed with me he wants to get me fired so he can be with me all the time and tattoos my name on himself😭😪a girl can only dream. Like the amount of control Austin has over David🤤….I love to see it. He’s so insecure when it comes to her, I fucking love it. After realizing he doesn’t want to get her fired from her job bc he doesn’t want to ruin her career, so he tries to get fired from HIS job just so he can be with her 😍🤩 Don’t get me wrong, as per my original review, this book definitely has its faults, Austin’s bitchiness being the biggest one. But my craving for a read with obsessive to the point of toxic and they know and don’t care that it’s toxic, outweighs that for me
I also must’ve been in a pissy mood when I wrote my original review because the epilogue was actually so good 🥲
I seriously NEEDED this obsessive level read after reading a book where the H fucks (WITH THE INTENTION TO IMPREGNATE) his best friends wife because he was such a good guy and just trying to help them out by helping them have a baby😔😣
Original review: 1 star😭😭😭
This book was so disappointing I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. In my opinion it was SUCH a let down compared to the first two and Austin was just a mega bitch x100000 in this one. I skipped around to the epilogue to see if it was worth finishing...it wasn’t. I don’t even know what that epilogue was but it was...not good or even remotely sufficient for what this series should’ve been. Very disappointing. Honestly was hoping David would leave Austin for someone that deserved him, not sure what he saw in her AT ALL
Mehhh.... I wanted to like this series. I really did. I kept reading after not loving the first book, which was my first mistake. These characters are so annoying! Mostly Austin, she is just the worst. David treats her like a queen and she is rotten to him. I was hoping for major character growth but got NONE. Yeah these books are HOT and I didn’t hate them or anything. Austin and David were just too much for me.
I was so hyped when I finally saw this come to my Kindle. First of all I loved the first two books. Sadly this one was a little bit of a let down. It droned on and on. It kept repeating things. I loved the fact this couple was toxic. I loved the fact they had a screwed up relationship. But come on enough was enough. Then to top it all off most of the steamy scenes faded to black. Not cool. Not cool at all. I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.
I was so excited to read this book that I devoured and I was not disappointed. Their story and their relationship was very obsessed and had an intensity that was over the top.
The disclaimer was perfect; David was OTT ALPHA MALE and every question that you may have about their past was answered. The author really don’t disappoint and even the story was a little bit slow at the beginning the whole reading was worth it. The relationship was intense, raw and very demanding if you know what I mean.
I cannot wait to read more about this author and her stories. Definitely worth it.

Oh how I missed David Taylor the David lol. Not only is this man a freaken God in the sheets, but he also has a heart of good. He loves feirce, hes protective, he's loyal, and he's possessive of what's his. I have to say all those qualities in a man is freaken hot. Austin on the other tended to pissed me off sometimes. I know her past haunts her but David was only putting her first. So ya there were times I wanted to smack her and say look what you have don't screw it up cause of your insecuritys. But they are truly one I the same. Loved this last book it was perfect.
David Taylor... what can I say. Possessive, Dominant Alpha, Confident, Loving, Sweet, kinda Overbearing and yet everything I want. Between his issues and Austin’s there is a lot that could go wrong between them. And it does at times, nothing about these two is perfect except for the story. They story is perfect. I love reading their struggles and fights because it feels real and fantasy at the same time. This series is so unique to anything I’ve ever read and I don’t think I’ll ever read one like it again. The perfect balance of hot mess and perfect match. I can’t get over this book and how amazing it was!! -Mackenzie
I love the Reader advisory. If you don’t like OTT dominant possessive alpha male, this book is not for you.
I have never read a male character this uber alpha before, Davis is OTT as the warning suggest but you should know as this is the third book.
Austin and David are completely crazy obsessed with each other. He’s so possessive and demanding sometimes it drives her nuts but she comes to crave his intense obsessive behaviors. Lots of hot dirty sex, it has been multiplied by 100 in this book.
This story is them navigating through their marriage with their demanding careers and trying to find a balance. Austin very insecure and her insecurities and jealousy pop up every now and again. The arguments and disagreements make this a very intense read.
I had been waiting for this book because I needed to know what happens to them, the epilogue answered all my questions. I felt this story was way too long and could have been a much shorter read. 90% of the book seemed to be about David’s cock more than anything.
I waited forever for this book and it didn’t really go where I thought it would. At the end of the last book we had the huge cliffhanger where our David is going back to the major leagues and Austin is crushed.
Sooo this book starts and Austin writes a tv pilot and series which she stars (the leading guy is gay, she is not able to kiss straight guys. Sends her back to her childhood trauma. Davy figured out gay actor would work out not therapist) in and casts. Davy’s stalker lady from previous book makes a appearance. Austin has good bj video(without her knowing) of former boyfriend and some hot vaj shots on her laptop to ex boyfriend. Crazy Davy flips out! Zach is back ( Austin’s ex) than we might get to crazy Davy’s career. Which the stuff they do focus on is jealous guys! Really! Damn I live with teenage girls I don’t believe that crap! I thought this book would focus on them and his baseball career and screaming fans and being long distance(kinda did), not this shit!
I felt like the whole career thing came out left field. Same as the video and nudie picks from ex boyfriend. I wish the author would’ve focused more on baseball side of the story. I was really looking forward to that.

I loved this book , heck I loved the serious . I couldn't wait til it come out. I was pumped I reread all three with in like a week and a half . I was in love w this series the minute I read the first one , so I knew I would love the last one.. that being said i read some reviews that were listed while I was reading it n was very upset that people would say negative things about it . I didn't let that sway my decision at all , I loved it n JC did amazing with David and Austin . The way they both struggled at first to find away each other n figure out how to break down each others walls n Heal the scars they both had n finally gave into the amazing unconditional love that had for each other ... I love how obsessed they were with each other , n the sex , holy hell very HOTTT .. I'm not giving any spoilers . But hands down this series is extremely hot and I recommend this final book . Hell I recommend the whole series . Everyone has a lil Taylors in them .. so thank you JC Grant for this exceptional , steamy , panty melting serious .
This was not bad but it's WAY TOO LONG. Half of the book is them winding each other up and being irrationally jealous. Don't get me wrong, their mutual insanity was entertaining but this could easily be 200 pages shorter.
Lots of hate for Austin in the reviews but I didn't feel it. She only annoyed me when the author made her do something silly to move the plot. David was OTT and he tested her feelings too much. Yes, she was a witch at some points but he was always manipulating her so I felt like turn about was fair play.
Minor Spoilers Ahead...
Like, she kept things from him to get personal time and enjoyed his crazy reactions. She wanted to hurt him so she texted him that she wanted to cheat. Later, he tried to get her fired from the show she created. And he was happy to find out that she was triggered (she was raped as a child by two adults) during auditions and couldn't go through with the chemistry tests. Sad for her but happy for him. At one point he had this in his head after she'd been jealous... "It broke my heart that she was hurting. But f**k if I didn't love seeing that pain in her eyes, knowing it was because she wanted to be with me." Yeah, they were a hot mess.
There was so much drama from other people. At first it made sense because they both wanted to pretend that life began when they met but after a while it got stupid.
Zach and Dawn both attack them. Her ex Ryan recorded them having sex without her consent (two years before she met David). Sarah-the ex that cheated and married his teammate- shows up in the last half to try and make Austin as miserable as she is. Lots of groupies that he avoids/ doesn't let touch him. Lots of guys checking her out. I kept waiting for a first grade crush to show up. Just nonsense.
I liked her mom even more this time around. Cute epilogue.
"It was filthy. Obscene. And I loved it. I loved everything about my obsessive, possessive man."
David Taylor is BACK y'all! And I couldn't be more excited. You wouldn't think that a stalker would be sexy but let me tell you...he IS. I'm talking top notch sexy. Grant knows what she's doing when it comes to alpha male lead characters. Because let me tell you...there are drool strains on the pages where I was foaming at the mouth.
"I wanted her to want to be with me. I wanted her to want me, like I want her. Obsessively. Desperately. Irrationally."
David and Austin are more in love than ever. Their sex life is hotter and kinkier than ever. They finally have everything that they want. Or so they thought. The more famous Austin becomes, the tougher their life gets. And the more David has to leave for baseball the more desperate she becomes for him. It's a constant battle with these two. The need and the want for each other outweighs everything in their life. But is it worth losing everything over?
"I kissed her slow and deep, letting her feel how much I wanted her, needed her, and most importantly, that I owned her."
These two have so much to learn about each other. But one thing that is for certain is how much they love and need each other. It's an obsession that they won't quit. They NEED each other. And I love how much they need each other. How they can't be without each other. It's one of my favorite things about this story. Is how they are better together than apart. Fighting together, loving together.
"I'd waited my whole life for her. Someone who needed me. Someone who understood me. Someone I could take care of. Someone who'd be mine. Absolutely, completely mine."
Though this may be David's and Austin's last story Grant does not disappoint. And this book was definitely worth the wait. You will be left in a pool on the floor of feels and begging for a David of your own.
Fans of Austin and David have waited for the finale in this trilogy for what seems like... well, Forever (yes, pun intended). But author J.C. Grant definitely poured heart and soul into the final installment and made it worth every day of the wait.
David's obsession with Austin has grown, by leaps and bounds it seems. He is so over the top. Austin loves him and loves the attention, most of the time. But he can be smothering. Very, very smothering. There is no way I could stand this much attention, I dont care who it was from - even The David.
The story started off a little slow, but the signature David and Austin heat was present, right from the first pages. I can see how this book might not be for everyone, with the extreme alpha male David and the ultra hot, super intense sex scenes. It all gets a little out of control at times. But for the die hard J.C. Grant fans and fans of this type of read - oh man, you will love this book and this entire series. (I definitely recommend they be read in order)
Thank you so much J.C. Grant for the wonderful wrap up to this trilogy!
More like WAITING for forever, amirite? That's what it felt like waiting for this book to come out, but the payoff was worth it, IMO! David is back and he's more OTT than ever.
I'm giving this read a solid 4.5 stars because if you've made it this far (this is the final installment in the Playing For trilogy), you're already familiar with David's insane alpha tendencies and have still decided to continue. Anyone giving this a negative review because of that- this isn't fricking To Kill A Mockingbird; J.C. Grant already warns you in the previous books that you won't like this series if you're not a fan of OTT alphas, and yes, they're not for everyone. But I enjoy them every once in a while, and Grant definitely delivers on that front! This was a trilogy I thoroughly enjoyed. Austin and David may be flawed individuals who don't have the healthiest relationship, but they're still perfect for each other and perfect together.
Can't wait for J.C. Grant's next release. And a congrats to her on her first series!
Playing for forever is the third and final book in the playing for series. This book is the continuation of David and Austin’s story. I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. I really liked this story. In the past, Austin and David’s love has been intense but in this book, the love between them is the most intense it has ever been. I love that Austin craves David’s behaviour. She even goads him at times to get the reaction from him she craves. The chemistry between David and Austin is still stronger than ever. I adore them as a couple. I like that both Austin and David have insecurities. But in this story David’s insecurities are through the roof. At times, I wanted to shout at David to trust that Austin won’t leave him. Overall, I love the love Austin and David have for one another. I love everything about this book and the ending is perfect. If you love over the top alphas then this book and series is for you. I would highly recommend this book – read it as part of a series.
Decent story - but did love David and Austin together. Perfect toxic relationship! Lol sex scenes were pretty spicy 🌶🌶🌶
Things I didn't like: - that Austin was drugged everytime she went somewhere alone. - the story with David team mate that had her pictured/texts? That didnt go anywhere really? - the epilogue...I hate skip forwards personally so when I read them I automatically am disinterested. Was hoping for more of a right after his baseball career ended or more recent experiences instead of 10 YEARS later. 👎
I was finally glad to read the conclusion of the story. I think I forgot how insecure both were until this final book. The story line is good. It’s a mind F@$$$ read for a strong woman like me to read. No way in heck would I be able to deal! I enjoy reading material that I could see happening and honestly this made me feel for folks who just might live the way this story unfolded.
God I love these 2! Irrational and possessive to some but to others love and adoration. David and Austin are one of those couples that need each other so much more than others do and it makes them stronger to be together not apart. I absolutely loved this ending to this series and it will go right along with the other 2 as favorite rereads of mine.
Are you fucking serious? The insecurity and mistrust is too fucking much This is not healthy at all I couldn't enjoy the story at all I was sooooo fucking frustrated throughout the whole thing They like to just torture each other, they just wanna get even no matter what They hurt eachother badly God i wanna fucking smack them so hard Austin is a piece of shit too.
I absolutely fell in love with this book and this author. This girl loves a dominant possessive man and this book checked all my boxes for an excellent read. Looking forward to the third book in this series.
OMG I love reading about OTT Alpha Dominant Men who crave one women. This was awesome 3rd book In the series. Love reading watching how passionate book to both main character reactions are with each other. I couldn't put this book down I really enjoyed watching this story unfold.
I’ve been waiting well over a year for this book to come out and it didn’t disappoint! I absolutely loved this series and I’m actually quite gutted that this is the end of it but I can always re-read it if I’m missing David and Austin. Thank you, J.C. Grant ❤️
Why oh why David you’re so desperate of taking care of your bitchy unstable emotion wife. Cooked for her gave her orgasm and she was so spoiled and ungrateful. Their relationship drifted because of his away game and her filming schedule. Blablabla not worth wasting time reading.

Great Finish to this series. I've been waiting not so patiently for Playing For Forever to release. I needed to see how Austin and David story progressed. They've struggled figuring out each other and being open but you can't deny they're made for each other! Loved the epilogue!!!
