2016 recreation of Norman Rockwell's 'Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas' scheduled

STOCKBRIDGE -- The Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce will host its annual recreation of "Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas" -- the famous Norman Rockwell painting -- Sunday, Dec. 4 from noon to 2 p.m.

The town uses more than 50 antique cars to recreate the famous painting of a snow-covered small town in the holiday spirit.

Admission is $5 for the purchase of a commemorative button. Children under 12 free.

Horse-drawn wagon rides by Clay Hill Farm also will be available for an additional fee. Monument Mountain Regional High School students will play holiday music. Children can create holiday fun at Santa's workshop sponsored by the Norman Rockwell Museum and have their face painted.

Santa will be on hand as well.

The Stockbridge on Main Street event is part of a weekend-long holiday celebration. The schedule is available here.

Rockwell began work on the painting in 1956, but did not complete it until December 1967. The town's main street has had changed little since.
