Auburn safety Nick Ruffin is among a "handful" of Tigers who are listed as "day-to-day" for this weekend's homecoming game against Mercer.
Ruffin sustained a left knee injury last weekend during Auburn's 14-6 loss to Clemson and did not return to the game. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Ruffin was "out there" at practice on Tuesday but did not say how limited the 6-foot, 202-pound safety was due to the injury.
"There's a handful of guys -- it was a very physical game -- but he was out there too," Malzahn said Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference. "He's kind of that day-to-day list too."
Ruffin is among a group of players that include running backs Kerryon Johnson (hamstring), Kamryn Pettway (heel) and wide receiver Darius Slayton (undisclosed) who are dealing with injuries ahead of Saturday's 3 p.m. matchup with FCS opponent Mercer and are currently classified as day-to-day.
"All of our guys were out there at practice yesterday," Malzahn said. "Some were more limited than others, but there's a handful of guys that are day-to-day. Once we get to Thursday, we'll know a little bit more."
