The 34-year-old woman who died of hypothermia in St. Paul this week was identified Thursday as Jamilyn M. Robeck.
Her body was found outside an apartment building in the 900 block of South Cleveland Avenue, next door to the Highland Park apartment building where she lived, according to Lori Hedican, Ramsey County medical examiner’s office chief investigator.
It’s unknown where Robeck was going or how long she had been outside, Hedican said.
A resident of the apartment building found Robeck about 11 a.m. Monday at the bottom of two stairs leading to the building. The resident heard someone trying to get into the building about 3 a.m., looked outside and didn’t see anyone, Hedican said. It’s not known whether it was Robeck attempting to get in.
Temperatures in the Twin Cities dropped to 3 below zero Monday morning, with a wind chill — a rough measure of how cold it feels — of minus 19.
Robeck’s family also does not know what happened Monday.
Robeck grew up in Spring Lake Park, graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 2000, and then graduated from St. Catherine University with a degree in international business. She had been living in St. Paul for the last three years, loved to travel and adored her puppy, her mother said.
“She was a very sweet, loving person,” said Lynn Robeck. “She was loved by so many people.”
