Hugo Mahieu, pictured, has been appointed to run the Mangrove Foundation full-time Maison Moderne

Former Mangrove associate Hugo Mahieu has returned to the company as The Mangrove Foundation 2.0 CEO to help it achieve its goal of positively impacting the lives of 500,000 people in the next five years through environmental and women empowerment projects.

“We’re very happy that in Hugo we have someone who is passionate about visiting the local populations, working with them, making sure our donations have a directly measurable impact in local populations,” Mangrove Capital Partners CEO David Waroquier told Delano at an event at the Mudam on Tuesday.

Since the foundation was created eight years ago, it has positively directly impacted the lives of 15,000 people in Sub Saharan Africa and Asia. Projects invested in so far include reforestation schemes in Senegal, water management in Mali and a number of education projects in countries like Bangladesh and Gambia.

Under the new CEO, the foundation will focus on measuring the local impact of projects.
