Nathan Hart is charismatic with a beautiful smile that makes women weak in the knees. A former bad boy with a mysterious past. He was made to be in Hollywood, on the cover of magazines and the star of movies.

He’s what dreams are made of … and tabloid gold.

But there’s more to him that he hasn’t told a soul. Even the gossip columns will never know.

Something that draws me to him unlike anyone has before.
Something that could ruin us both.
He whispers to play along; he promises it will all be alright.

I can’t tell him no, even if I wanted to.
The moment he locked his light blue eyes on me, I was ruined.
I never stood a chance. I only pray our pasts don’t rip us apart.

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

Title: ➳ “Heartthrob”
Author: ➳ ❤ Willow Winters
Published August 22 2017

ღ Nathan Hart is the bad boy, so people think.. Since Nathan is somewhat reserved generally keeps to himself. So of course people find him to be mysterious. Like any celebrity he has so much to hide. He comes from the wrong side of track & has “Past” he would prefer to keep to himself

💞 Harlow May I don’t know what tell you about her.. I just didn’t like her much/ she seem to always be whining about something

►Harlow & Nathan had a love/hate type of relationship during high school. They were always on again, off again until Nathan pushed Harlow away. Now 10 Years later their paths cross again. When they both find out they are working at the same set for a television show.

►This where it gets Lil interesting - Can Harlow & Nathan overcome their issues with each other

♥●• This is a second chance love

► I had mix feeling about this one…It might just be me, but I didn’t really feel the connection to the characters in this book. No matter what people say, you can’t judge book by its cover. Same goes with review. Always always keep in my this only my opinion

Release Date: August 24, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
POV: Dual - 1st person
Heat: 3 out of 5
Type: Standalone

Nathan was a bad boy. Or at least that’s what the rumor is. Indeed, he came from the wrong side of the tracks, but aside from that I didn’t see any evidence of him being ‘bad’. Harlow was the good girl who couldn’t get enough of him. They had a history of poor communication and fights over virtually nothing, which made their relationship volatile. A night of unavoidable pain drove the two young lovers apart. Hearts were broken and they never believed they would see the other again. And yet, 10 years later, both happen to be on the same set for a TV show that they’re both starring in. History really has a habit of repeating itself with these two and their lack of communication was causing problems again.

I spent most of this book confused. It was one thing to not know the big ‘secret’ that Nathan and Harlow shared. The huge ‘secret’ that drove them apart. I’m all for ‘secrets’. However, they spent so much more time being inside their own heads instead of talking that their story became a tad bit frustrating. To the point that when the gigantic ‘secret’ was finally revealed, I didn’t even care anymore. I was more concerned with Harlow’s immaturity. She was around 28 years old and acted like a young adult. Not acceptable. On top of that, I didn’t like how Nathan was made out to be the bad guy. He was a freaking hero! Much effort was made to set the stage for this story but I feel like not enough attention was placed on how the story would unfold. I wasn’t invested in this couple’s HEA because I was still flabbergasted by the lack of ‘realness’ in the end. I really liked Nathan but I guess I wanted more development of his story. Their story. It felt incomplete.

One thing you can never take away from Willow Winters is how original her stories are. From one book to the next, it’s almost like reading from a different author and no two stories are the same. I really like that. With overlapping tropes and so few tropes to choose from, I can imagine it’s difficult for authors to make each story seem unique. So kudos to her for achieving the almost unachievable.

This is no blockbuster hit, let me tell you. Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes? I don't watch award shows, I have no clue which is which, but whichever award goes for TV shows, these characters definitely wouldn't be winning based on this performance.

*le sigh*

Well, I'm throwing in the towel for reading Willow Winters books. First one I read (this past week) was barely a one star and this is barely getting to a 2 in my books (See what I did there?). Let's just start with the major issues, shall we?

As a reader, how do you feel about childish, immature characters, zero character development, an underwhelming and underdeveloped plot, and a toxic relationship?

If you do indeed like those things, this is the book for you! If you're like me and DON'T appreciate those aspects, well, it's safe to say you may want to pass on this one.

From discrepancies in the timeline to the stupidest fights ever --- which occur over nothing at all, mind you --- to very little romance and minimal effort put into the relationship by not one but both characters, I'm just fed up with this book. What do you do if you want to know if a character actually wants you? Fight them and push them away to see if they chase you, obviously. #winning. What do you do when you see an ex boyfriend from ten years ago that left you and doesn't want to talk to you about certain issues that you keep bringing up? Hide, obviously. This is a romance, after all. What do you do when you finally start talking again with said ex, and everything turns into a fight? Sleep with him in your dressing room and be loud enough for everyone to hear, obviously. Wait, let me add one more, this is kind of fun. What do you do when the hero won't tell you he loves you (does he actually? I have no clue) after you "reconnect" (*cough* start sleeping together) for a few days? Run away because the tabloids say he's using you, obviously.

Can we just... Stop? I've had enough.

The relationship between these two was extremely volatile and toxic in the first place, I don't understand the reasoning to try and get back together. As kids, volatile. As adults, volatile. This shit is not healthy, folks. Yelling and screaming and refusing to talk with each other, that makes for a good start to a relationship these days, does it? Oh, maybe that's what I'm doing wrong.

A small detail but annoying nonetheless, but if a book follows a specific timeline, double check the damn timeline. If it starts with "April, 10 years ago" and goes through April, has flashbacks from March and some info from June, that's all fine and dandy. But then when flashbacks start from "September, 10 years ago", it is actually eleven years ago, because it is the September previous to the April where the story starts. To smooth this out a little easier: September they started dating, and we're on and off until April. But there was jumping around and almost showing the teenager side of the relationship in reverse. It felt odd. And for the love of all that is holy, just get the stinking years right. Am I right? Or am I wrong? I could be wrong, but for instance: current date - ten years ago in April would be 2007. For them to have started dating in September, they would've started in 2006. So eleven years ago. *Grrr*. Small details folks, we notice them.

As much as I enjoyed the writing, I couldn't manage to connect with either of the main characters. The secrecy regarding the initial breakup coupled with the way the relationship was handled until almost the very end didn't allow for much emotion on my part.

Heartthrob by Willow Winters started out with a bang and never let up. We are thrown into a story with hot chemistry, a mysterious past and so many feels!

Nathan Hart is the bad boy with so much to hide turned celebrity heartthrob. Woman love him, but the mysterious and quiet actor generally keeps to himself. There has only ever been one person that ever meant anything to him and he pushed her away when she needed him the most.

Harlow May, Hally, has no idea how she got here. All she knows is that HE is here too. The one person who never wanted to see her again. The one person that she cannot forget. Just when she is ready to move forward and find her dream, her past comes crashes back into her life.

Hally and Nathan drove me insane. There was so much push and pull between them. Their chemistry was off the charts. Even those around them could feel their pull to each other. While they attempt to navigate the present, throughout the story we are given glimpse of their past and what drove them apart. Both hid so much, then and now, will they find a way back to each other or is it too late for them?

There is so much I want to say about this book, but not without spoiling it. We are dropped right into the middle of a story. Nathan and Harlow have a secret that tore them apart. Now they are face-to-face again and have no idea how to talk to each other. Their struggle to communicate was their biggest downfall.

Heartthrob was a very emotional read. So much history between Hally and Nathan. Though they tried to stay away from each other, at the end their pull was just too powerful, but were they just too toxic together or could they really make it work? This is a quick read, with lots of emotions. Though the story flowed quickly, you will be intrigued to see what happened between them and how it will all end.

Happy reading!

This being my first book by Willow Winters I wasn't sure what to expect. Many rave about her so I wanted to see. I like the concept of Expose gossip magazine set up. It had a second chance vibe from the blurb that makes you want to know more.

Right from the start we are dropped smack dab in the middle of things, there's secret from Harlow and Nathan's past. Something that affects them working together. An on and off couple in high school with volatile relationship that ended badly. I was curious what that is that happened and why they broke up. I honestly was confused how they acted toward one another at first and with all cryptic hints. They need to get over that if they have to work together though or at least move forward. There seems to be a lack of closure if anything with how it ended before.

Nathan seemed complicated well both of them really. Bad boy celebrity with a mysterious past. Hally is starting out in the show business still unsure of it all. In the past they were opposites and a mess. Even the present these two are still explosive it drove me nuts. So much tension and pent up something with breadcrumb hints. It took a while to get a better picture of the past to see where this is headed. Many pasts dumb mistakes to overcome and finish a show.

I wondered how this would end and if these two are good for each other, they felt toxic most of the time but somehow they have this huge pull towards the other for some reason. I can't deny that. It was a quick read, though it went in circles at first, to get to the bottom of why it all happened The reason this all happened felt a bit dramatic and full of misunderstandings. I would say I need another point of reference for this author again cause based on this I'm not sure. I was intrigued enough to keep reading but didn't connect to either character. This story may not be for me but others will surely like it.

Love me love me, say that you love me.

I think that the plot of the story was really good. Ex high school sweethearts reunited unexpectedly on the set of a new televisions show filming. Honestly though the characters didn't really have that spark or that build that I like to see. That had a cute little past. Then something major happens that pulls them apart. Then we get their present where they haven't seen each other for ten years. It's a second chance romance without as much romance as I was expecting, and a few sexy bits.

I don't know. I guess the writing felt very vague at all times. It worked for the backstory, but for the present I just needed MORE.

Still an ok read to pass the time. Will definitely keep reading more from this series, and from Willow Winters herself... this was just not what I was expecting.

Saw a lot of less than stellar ratings for this one but personally I liked it. What an absolutely dysfunctional relationship between two screwed up individuals. But as much as they kept clashing and messing up the most fundamental things over and over I was still highly invested in them both getting it together and coming out into the light this time. This is a second chance tale told by Miss Winters of a high school relationship that went really wrong only to have the two come face to face a decade later when one of them, Nate is already a huge Hollywood movie star and the other, Harlow ends up with a small part in the same production unaware of the cast list due to secrecy releasing the cast list ahead of time. Nate is unable from the first second he sees Harlow - someone he thought he'd never cross paths with again - to function properly and do his job as a leading man. Harlow, on the other hand, is noticed by the director and bumped up to be his leading lady. The two have no choice but to act out scenes together giving them no way to avoid each other on set.

The real question watching this wtf scenario going down is: will these two people have a chance at any happy ending and if so, how the hell are they going to get there? I couldn't figure out for the life of me who would give first or if ever but Willow always has a way about her and I thoroughly loved 'Heartthrob'.

** Updated Review !! I was soo spicy in the September of 2020
and I gave this a mean review which is not something I am particularly fond of. The writing is great it’s why I was able to read it till the end. I just found that I didn’t love the premise of the story. It is impossible to love every book. However, we are not authors and some of us couldn’t even make it past writing a few pages let alone a novel. Honest reviews do not have to be “Mean Girl” reviews!

So this was my first Willow Winters title and it may be my last. I really just don’t like this style but the drama and angst gave me acid reflux. If I read another title by this author it will have to be a 5 star or I will never read them again. I love teen angst but adults acting like spoiled children. No thank you. Great writing just a blah story.

“Heartthrob” by Willow Winters is not the typical dark romance that she is known to write. She went a different route. I thoroughly enjoyed this bittersweet, sad, heartbreaking, angsty story that reaches into the souls of these two characters, Nathan and Halley, and brings to light a tortured past filled with secrets, guilt and misunderstandings. It is filled with so much emotion and hits all the right feels.

Nathan Hart and Harlow (Hally) May are two broken souls who were torn apart after a devastating event, leaving questions unanswered and hearts ripped open and left bleeding. Fate throws them a bone and reunites them 10 years when they end up starring in a movie together. Needless to say, they are not happy to see each other, but for different reasons.

Now they are forced to face the past and deal with their all-consuming feelings of love for each other that not even 10 years of being apart could change.

Can they find a common ground in order to work together? Or will their secret be revealed, shattering any future they may have together? They really need each other in order to get past their demons. They both live pretty solitary lives in spite of what they do for a living. As if that wouldn’t be hard enough, they have to be cautious around the press who are hungry for a story and know something is up between these two.

They had a volatile relationship 10 years ago and nothing has changed. They each keep their feelings closely guarded. Walls, they both built around themselves in order to protect those closest to them…. Each other. It actually tore me up at times because they were both so misunderstood.

This is a story about a secret so big, so powerful, it sucked the life out of two young lovers and tore them apart. When fate intervenes, and thrusts them together 10 years later, will they get their seconds chance at a future filled with forgiveness, strength, conviction and love? Or will their past be exposed and destroy them all over again?

I loved that they really had to work for their happily ever after. I felt their characters had a lot of depth and dimension. I also appreciated that the author did not give up “the goods’ so to speak. It kept me interested and vested in the story. Once you understand exactly what happened 10 years ago, you will fight for their future right along with them…..

Grab your copy of this heartfelt story and take the journey along with Nathan and Hally. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Okay, right up front I want to say that this is a HUGE departure from any other Willow Winters book I've ever read. Not a bad thing at all. I think it shows her range as an author. I couldn't help hearing film noir music as the soundtrack while I was reading, and I wonder if that was how it was intended. I'll have to find out at some point. I'm super curious.

But let's get back on topic. This book was ah-maze-balls.

Nathan Hart is the "Bad Boy turned good" of the silver screen. Real-life too, and he's used that to his advantage. A lot of his youth is an open book, but there's some parts that aren't. He also knew that returning to the east coast was a gamble. Being so close to home might open old wounds. He didn't know that it would bring him face-to-face with the one secret he didn't want anyone to know about...

Harlow May was the girl from the "good" side of town. The girl he shouldn't have been with. The girl he pushed away.

When Harlow saw Nathan across the room, it was like a gut shot. She'd done everything she could not to think about that time in her life, although it was impossible. It was in her mind daily. Bad enough when he was a world away, but now, sharing the same rarified air... she couldn't breathe. He was the only man that she ever loved. And he knew everything about her. About that time. About that night.

So yeah, I loved it. Did you get that from my review or no? I can't wait to read the other books in the Exposé series, I'm sure they're all winners.

I give Heartthrob Five "NDA Surprise" Stars

Another phenomenal read by Willow Winters!!! Heartthrob is not Ms. Winters usual style, but amazing non the less!!
Harlow and Nathan had a love/hate type of relationship during high school. On again off again type thing. Then one day Nathan pushed her away for good. Harlow never got over the hurt.
Ten years later their paths cross again. Old feelings and emotions come back to the surface. It's hard to put past heartache behind and move forward. That's the only way these two can truly be together. They need to let go of the past in order to move on to a future.
An emotional read that keeps you guessing on what will really happen with this couple!!
A definite must read!!

3 HART CROWNS

Heartthrob is my first Willow Winters book, and I really enjoyed it. Filled with heartaches, enough tension to cut with a knife, and broken characters, this angsty novel certainly entertained.

Both of these characters are pretty atypical. Both broken and hurt, they lash out in anger at each other. They also don't really talk about their feelings or the past, and they spend a great deal of time trying to hurt the other one when they do fight. While this seems childish and like two people not in love, it stems from their past. They do grow and evolve, and by the end of the book, they become better for each each other and themselves.

I really enjoyed how Willow Winters jumps back and forth between the past and the present. It is one of the many reasons the tension is so sharp in the book. It also serves to elaborate or character motivation, making these two more likable.

Heartthrob is the perfect read if you need a quick romance filled with angst and pain but a HEA. It delivers an award performance on all accounts.

Hearttrob is a little different book than this author's usual but I enjoyed it anyway. It is about a young man and a young woman who had a relationship years ago and were torn apart by their actions. Years later their paths are crossed when they both find out they are working at the same set for a television show. In order to be able to work together they need to straighten out what has happened in the past so they don't cause problems or lose their jobs. They need to deal with the problems of their relationship and what had happened, along with the feelings that they still had for each other, whether they could make it work or not, before they could move forward. It was a sweet love story and I offered to read the book and to give my review.

Ah, a good second chance romance with a twist! Fate has intervened and brought them back near each other after all these years and there's this secret thing that happened way back when it all fell apart! Not only are Harlow and Nathan trying to figure out how to be around each other again but that dang nosy press won't leave them alone!

I'm super in love with the start of this Expose' series and can't wait for the rest!

Gracias.

This is so different from what Willow usually writes. Willow is so talented that she can write outside her comfort zone and it still be a hit. Harlow and Nathan's relationship is so volatile it keeps you guessing whether they are going to make it or not. But they are like magnets, just drawn to each other.

I just finished Heartthrob by Willow Winters, and while I really liked the Blurb I really could not get into the characters of this book.

Understanding what they went through and how their lack of communication basically tore them appart was one thing but I could not see the romance and attraction between them NOW ... they somehow felt toxic for like 90 % of the book and I could not connect with them

I am really sory because it truely sounded like a book I would love - but I am kind of difficult sometimes when it comes to certain settings so maybe this is just on me - so if you think this book sounds good you should give it a try as it might be totally differnt for you

This book is different from other Willow Winters books, but it is still a great read. The books is about two people that have a relationship when they were younger and ended on a very bad note. Later in life they end up on the same job and have to face the bad things that happened in their relationship in order to move on. I could feel the emotions that the author put into her writing, drawing you in more and more. Loved it.

Nathan Hart is the bad boy that came from the wrong side of the proverbial tracks. Now he's the heartthrob and star of the movies. But he also has a mysterious past. A past that few know about and he doesn't and hasn't talked about.
Harlow May has finished college and is in NYC, interning for a top talent agent in Manhattan. Now she has a client, Lydia, of her own and they are on their way to the hotel where Lydia is to part in a new TV show.
As they are standing in the hotel lobby Lydia observed woman she recognized as Julie Rays, she's the who's who of actresses. Then she sees him, she recognizes the way he moves, he's just an older version of him, but the same. It's been ten years since she last saw him and she knows the secret of his past.
This is an amazing story. I read it in one setting and I loved it. It has the angry bad boy, the girl he loves but doesn't know how to relate to, she's from the right side of the tracks and he's a bad influence on her.
He was her first love and when he told her to leave she was destroyed and left her with the secret she never told anyone...

This was a slightly dark, twisted tale about a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, who met a girl, fell in love and then ended up in prison for doing the right thing at the wrong time. Ten years later, the tempestuous relationship has been apart by lies, mistrust and Nathan’s refusal for them to be together.
Fate brings to together in the filming of a debut show. Hally is only meant to have a small part while, Nathan, who had left prison and gone on to be a famous Hollywood heartthrob is the male lead. What I liked/Didn’t Like: This one was different from Willows normal books. This one was extra sweet in a Willow Winters way and very much worth reading.

Oooh, this high school love angsty second chance love with a twist romance is just what I needed today!
Drama, with an emotional current, washes through out the pages of the hot, plot twisting tale

Ten years have gone by-betrayal, anger still between them- yet connection, the attraction is still there
On set working together, Harlow and Nathan are going to be in close quarters, will they truly get through the past to see their way into the future? Or will the demons of the past, the media ruin what could be before it even starts?
Different than what I am used to from Willow Winters, this fast moving full of twists and frustrations tale is wonderfully written and had me at the first line!
Now that I have had a taste of these Expose Reads I am going to have to read the rest!
Another excellent read!

****3.5 stars***

This was my first Willow Winters book. The premise really intrigued me. I'm a huge second chance romance lover. Big Hollywood star and former high school sweetheart that's trying to break into the entertainment industry. Sounds good so far...right? Secrets from their shared past...what really happened? Even better....right?
Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. Don't get me wrong....the book was well written. Ms Winters is obviously talented. It's just the constant fighting between the characters....all the flashbacks and the timeline of those flashbacks was weird. The months skipped around and I just felt a little lost. That's not how I like to feel when reading. All in all the book just wasn't for me.
