Redemption #2

Intertwined

Rate this book
Amplified emotional highs have been my downfall. I’ve lost parts of myself to the dark corners of my heart because of the damage others have inflicted.

Whiskey might be able to ease the burn of one’s soul, but this time it might not be enough to survive. Instead of letting me wither in the cracks of my desiccated soul, he pushes me to appreciate the scars, instead of avoiding the bruises.

I’ve had more than my share of sanctioned hell, and I am through living in a limbo between who I should be and who I am. I won’t allow myself to become a casualty of my own mind again.

I am no longer carrying the obscurities of my life around with me when he chooses to stand and fight beside me.

With him, I finally see what it means to be living.

This novel contains mature themes, strong language, violent circumstances, and sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers.

CAPTIVATING..
That's the word I'd use to describe what this book has been to me. I wanted to devour this book whole. Feast on the goodness I knew it would possess but when I got going I found that this would be a book I'd need to savour and take my time with. This was a book that I could not rush, would not rush, because this book was so damn breathtaking. From page one this book consumed my thoughts, pulled at the deepest parts of me and wrapped itself around my heart.
What book am I talking about? Intertwined by the amazingly talented, beautiful Sasha Brümmer.

Intertwined sparked a fire deep inside me. A soul-deep, burning flame of love and desire, lust and devastating beauty. Liam and Isla were two of the most beautiful, battered souls I've read. So perfect for each other. Breathtaking and intense. Their relationship battered me, latched itself onto me and blissfully dragged me along with them.

People who know me know that I feed off angst and friends to lovers romances.. Intertwined is now, undoubtedly, one of my favourites. Everything about this book spoke to me. It made me FEEL. I laughed, I swooned, I got VERY hot under the collar and I cried. I cried so hard. At times Intertwined was hard to stomach, hard to process, it stole my breath and broke my heart but through it all ran an UNDENIABLE connection. A connection that melted the pages. A connection that blossomed and burnt hotter than the biggest fire.
That connection is what built an exceptional romance between two best friends, one that brought true meaning to second chances, not only at love but LIFE. Sasha bought together two souls that were seemingly doomed and breathed life into them and me as the reader.

Those two souls have embedded themselves so deep in me, I honestly cannot fathom how I'll ever get them out. I don't want to get them out.
Liam-fucking-Jensen has my heart, my soul, my breath, my blood. He can have it all. Every damn thing. Forever. This alpha asshole well and truly ruined me. BIG TIME. His cocky arrogance and deep protective nature made me crazy.
Matched perfectly to Liam was Isla who despite everything she endured was incredibly strong, uplifting and just a pleasure to get to know. She is a kick ass heroine and I adore her. Sasha wrote her in such an impeccable way.

Anyone who reads this book, that has a male best friend or has had one previously will just get the connection between Liam and Isla, you'll understand how deep they do actually blend into one another and you'll appreciate every single truthful word Sasha has penned in Intertwined.

This whole novel is deep, intense, raw and downright devastating in parts but it's also so damn stunning. I have no idea how Sasha penned these characters and made them so strong but she did and I wouldn't change a single thing.

In its entirety, Intertwined is PHENOMENAL. And it sucks that I don't have enough stars to truly rate this book all it's actually worth.

Sasha Brümmer completely took me on an emotional journey of ups and downs. When I got my hands on Intertwined and started reading I literally could not put it down. All the characters in this story had me captivated. This book was written well, it flowed perfectly and there was never a point in the story that I felt disconnected. The characters appear very real and the storyline keeps your attention throughout.

Isla is a strong female character. She’s tough, smart and sexy. She has an insanely high self-esteem that I'm jealous of. She won't take shit from anybody. Liam is cocky, arrogant but also protective and a very hot, alpha male. The author did such a great job developing his character.

Both of them have lived a life of hell and have survived with what life has given them. They are best friends, they have helped each other through some tough times and they have become very close. Isla and Liam have a no strings attached relationship. Their fake relationship feels like love but isn’t anything more than a few moments of lust and fun. But, when emotional intimacy mixes with sex, this arrangement becomes confusing for both of them. Their deep feelings turn their relationship into one which is a lot more serious and meaningful.

Intertwined is raw, emotional, angsty, and pure sexiness all rolled into one! It’s a great book with an interesting plot, lots of twists and plenty of action.

In short:
Hero 5/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 4/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 4/5 | Romance 5/5 | Angst-Suspense 5/5 | Darkness 2/5 | Humor 2/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 4/5 | Pacing Steady | Action 4/5

Liam-fucking-Jensen! I couldn't wait for Liam's book after I read Blended and Intertwined did not disappoint! Intertwined can be read as a total standalone, and what a ride it was. Sasha once again delivers an incredibly written book, she always hooks me with her words!

Liam made this book for me. I love Isla's character, she's such a strong female heroine, but Liam is where it's at! What a ride these two had together. Two people with demons to battle from their pasts, who come together to heal each other. So many bumps along the way to get through first (and one monumental tragedy) and these two go through hell and back before finally landing where they belong. My only complaint is that I wanted more at the end!!!

5 INTERTWINED STARS

** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book for an honest review **

To be honest, I thought Liam was an asshole in Blended and Isla was a bitch. Which means, it's pretty good that we get to read their story in Intertwined because it showed us who they really were as people and not the facade they put on for the public. While I may not have loved Intertwined as much as I did Blended, this book still deserves recognition.

There were so many surprises in this book. I never knew what was gonna happen or when. Just when you thought it was over and it would be calm & peaceful, BOOM. Surprise. Plot twist. But I do know that as the story progressed I fell a little deeper for these two. They grew up in messed up households and because of that, they are the tough people they are today. However, Isla is a little more guarded than Liam and it hurt me to see the struggles these two went through to be together. Liam's past comes back to haunt them & casualties take place but nothing is more powerful than the strength these two had to overcome it. The journey these two have taken, not only their entire lives but specifically the trials and tribulations of trying to make a relationship work is amazing. Kudos to these two for sticking it out.

I loved this book. I loved the angst, the heartache and just the absolute passionate love these two shared. Despite, being too stubborn at first to realise it, these two made things work and I absolutely adore them for it. Can I just say though, that I absolutely LOVE how Whiskey is incorporated in these novels. I sat there the whole time salivating for a taste of whiskey, while I was reading this book, because the description is so real I swore I could taste it.

Hauntingly beautiful. Riveting. Captivating. This book spoke to my soul on a deeper level and its rooted itself within me. Amazing book! Definitely a MUST READ!

This is a super steamy friends to lovers story with many unexpected surprises blended in. Ms Brummer writes one hell of a male POV; rough, gritty, broody and totally alpha. I enjoyed the resistance between the characters even though you know that their emotions run deeper than friendship and casual sex. It's always fun to watch this type of relationship transform into something more and Intertwined certainly delivered.

ARC was provided by the Author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I read by Sasha Brummer and even if I skip the order of the series they can be read as standalones.

I'm going to give credit to the author that being new to me, I was captivated and hooked to reading.

But there are things that didn't fit for me in this story, maybe the speed with which things happened, or the crazy drama to 50% of the book, which I feel is a very serious subject and exposed "light". This topic was the one that made me saying: okay and now what is going to happen... maybe this is why it can't be a five star reading for me. (Perhaps for others it has the potential to be).

However, this is a story of friends to lovers that you can enjoy and read in one sitting.

Two people who have been through hell and because of this are best friends that hold each other up. Throw in a few benefits with that friendship and you have a wild ride of a story. I absolutely loved that Ms. Brummer started this book out with the first two chapters being about the main characters. With each chapter she delved into how deep, raw, emotional, and strong each characters is. You get to know Isla and Liam in depth and that makes the whole book so much more emotional.

As they deal with a relationship that is they think is just for sex they have to accept the feelings that come along with it. As the ride the high's and the low's they will learn to accept each other flaws and all and realize they can be happy. I loved the banter between these two. If they were having sex or fighting you could feel the connection between them.

This was an intense, raw, emotional and angsty read that kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. The twists and turns kept coming and kept you guessing.

I got Blended & now I’m freaking Intertwined!

Intertwined is the story of Isla & Liam. Two individuals that weave their lives together and there’s no breaking the bond that’s created.

There is something about Sasha’s writing style that I can’t get enough of. I think it’s the descriptiveness of the whiskey. ;) J/K, not really. In all seriousness, her words are powerful. They are full of angst, love, mystery, and grace. I’m seriously waiting for what’s next? And I have my guesses because I want more of this series.

If you are looking for a series to fall drunk in love, then I suggest you one click The Redemption Series by Sasha.

“I’m not afraid to die; I’m afraid to live and be human.”

Sasha did it again. She had me at the edge of my seat, grabbing for tissues, falling in love, enjoying the humor and friendships, wondering who would be the survivor and who would be left broken.

“and when I’m with him, hours feel like seconds, and seconds feel like hours when we are apart.”

Sasha opened my eyes to a real life horror that families are living through every day all over the world. ...and yet I can't get enough of this series.

“There’s nothing tragically beautiful about depression. There’s not always a reason for it either, but today and everyday I sit alone in a dark forest. I’m not living. I’m purely enduring.”

This book really has so many elements. There are several serious issues that are intertwined throughout this book, but balanced with the right amount of humor, friendship, whiskey and want.

Extraordinary!! I need more than five stars
I'm not even sure where to start writing a review for this book. I feel like I have just gotten off an emotional rollercoaster but I loved every minute.
Intertwined takes us on a journey with Isla Madden and Liam Jensen who have been best friends since college and their relationship is built on the foundations of that friendship. Their journey takes them to some very dark places, and my heart was literally racing at times while I was reading. There are many hurdles for them to overcome, including their own personal struggles, self-doubt, uncertainty and denial.
Isla is a strong minded, whiskey loving, say what she thinks kind of girl and she doesn't take crap from anyone but I love the vulnerabilities that she shows as well. She is stronger than she thinks and it was that strength and her love for Liam that got her through some harrowing times in this book.
What can I say about Liam-fucking-Jensen. He is sexy, funny, loveable but he is also a cocky bastard and I was unsure about him at the beginning. He also has a lot of uncertainty, and denial for his feelings for Isla, but his self-doubt almost had a dire outcome. Lucky for Liam, Isla was forgiving and gave him a second chance. That second chance led them both down a path of betrayal, to a traumatic life threatening experience. I love how Liam grows and changes throughout the book and he just stole my heart.
I love that Sasha writes from both points of view so we get to experience the emotion of both main characters, and for me this helps me to ‘bond’ with the characters, feel what they feel, and love them even more.
There is a lot to love about this book. This book has it all, love, hate, lust, fear, doubt, denial, uncertainty, trust, betrayal, friendship, romance. I laughed, and I cried both sad and happy tears. When I read Sasha's Blended I ugly cried, so I have to say Sasha did it to me yet again. At one point I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see, and when I read the words "The End" I hated that it was over, I wanted to go back and start all over again.
I hope we see a lot more of Isla and Liam in future works from Sasha.
P.S Dickweed is my new favourite word, but you’ll have to read the book to find out more.

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Gah! I don't even know how to start this review. This book ripped my heart out and then slowly put it back together. I'm not sure that I can express how much I loved this book, but I will do my best.

While reading Intertwined you will find the following things:

✔ Great characters
✔ A fantastic story
✔ A plot twist or two that made me be like "Say whaaaaaaaaat?"
✔ Hot sex
✔ Happy moments
✔ Sad moments
✔ Some very scary moments
✔ Moments that made me ugly cry and curse the author
✔ The desire to start drinking whiskey (if you don't already)

Sounds good, right?

Isla and Liam have known each other for years. They both have suffered tragedies that altered the course of their lives. Tragic, soul destroying things that have made them the people they are today. Up until now, they have been friends who sleep together and nothing else. Until one day, they're not just friends who sleep together. Here's the thing...neither of them really do relationships. They don't want the attachment, but when Liam decides to make a serious change in his life, he marches straight into Isla's and turns it upside down.

I loved Isla and I want to be best friends with her, but it took me a while to warm up to Liam. It's not that he is unlikable, he's just hard to read. When I started the book I was on the fence, but he truly cares for Isla and she trusts him. And the list of people she trusts is very tiny, so I gave the guy a chance. And I'm so glad I did.

I won't go into detail because you really should read this book knowing as little as possible, but I will say that all of the things I listed above, among others, make this an exceptional book. The author has poured so much heart and emotion into this story and it shows. Intertwined is an angsty, but gorgeous masterpiece that will give you a massive book hangover.

WOW...WOW...WOW!!!!

Intertwined is the 2nd book in the Redemption series by author Sasha Brümmer & boy is it a cracker!
I loved this story so much.
This book takes us into the damaged lives of Isla & Liam & you will experience probably every emotion you can think of. There is lust, betrayal, humour, suspense, intrigue. There are moments of WTF??? and OMFG!!! and OOOHHHHHH!!! and AAAAAHHHHHH!!!....and there are moments that, no amount of words will be able to describe the anguish that these characters will experience. The story is so well written it has such a real feel to it....it feels real..,,it reads real...it is hauntingly beautiful to experience.
The subject matter is & can be hard to deal with but I urge you to not let this keep you from encountering two of the most wonderful characters you will ever meet.
I didn't like Liam at first....however, as you gain further knowledge about what made him into the man he's become you start to feel a softening to this  beautifully damaged person. He becomes everything you wish a man could be.
I loved Isla straight up...you meet her as you do Liam, in Sasha's first novel Blended and I knew straight away she was a kickass heroin...feisty & tough but deep down quite vulnerable...her childhood has left her with internal scars that preface many of her current dealings with both sexes.
Together Isla & Liam have the opportunity to heal emotionally , learn the full importance of frienship & understand the true meaning of unconditional love.
Intertwined is one of my top reads...I can't honestly say that I liked it more than Blended...because Blended resonated so much with me ( because of personal reasons) I think it will always be my favourite but Intertwined is just as good.
Sasha Brümmer has fast become one of my favourite authors.

Intertwined by Sasha Brummer was my first book by this author and what a ride it was. I was engrossed from the first page. A friends-to-lovers to possibly more story that you will enjoy, even as you want to throw your kindle against the wall. I had to stop myself a few times from doing so.

I loved the main characters. Isla is a no-nonsense woman who knows what she wants. She was strong and independent and sure of herself. Even at her darkest times, her strength shined through. It was great to see a heroine like this.

Liam, on the other hand, though I did like him, at times I wanted to slap him across the head. His denial and self-doubt worked against him, but sometimes you must make mistakes to find your way. He was cocky, but could also be fun, protective and endearing, especially when it came to Isla.

Friends first since college, these two seemed to work well together, but they were so off and on, it worked against them. But really, how long can a relationship like that last? Especially when feelings start to get involved and the two people care about each other.

This story will twist your heart. The decisions made hurt those they care about and themselves. And though Liam and Isla shared such passionate chemistry, so much kept getting in the way. In the end, these two had to work through so many emotions, but their connection was honest and real.

This was an angst filled and emotional read for me, but I enjoyed every minute of it! At times, I did not know if these two would make, but it gave us such a beautiful and touching story. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

3.5 friends to lovers romance with a heavy plot

Ok so what I will say is I really really enjoyed Liam and Isla's friends to lovers relationship. I love that it was angsty, that they both tried to deny it once it turned into more, and I love that things weren't just easy as pie for them.

Liam was alpha but still attentive and loving. Some of their little moments together in the beginning were just super swoony and I LOVED them. Isla is pretty tough because she's had to be independent and love herself for so long. Of course she has her best friends Waylon and Liam, but with Liam things are becoming different. They went from best friends to, hook-up buddies, and now it feels like more. She just doesn't want it to be more, at least she doesn't think.

The reason I took away 1.5 stars is because the story felt like it was a completed contemporary romance at like 45% percent or so. I can't remember if that's exact, but... it's close. Then something crazy happens and everything is scary and bad and awful. Everything about it was well written and suspenseful, it just didn't feel like it fit because there was already a main angst. Not a BIG deal once you dive into the second half of he story, but... meh.

Anywho. I can't wait to see what she does with the next book. It's a character I've liked since book one. Well, if she uses him next.

All in all a great read. It gets a bit dark during the second half, and there may be some triggers for people. Abuse and sexual violence.

What an emotional ride. The past can overlap into our present and future. This story is a story of trust, friendship, loss, pain and love. These characters will weave an emotional story that will break your heart, curse, yell and yes, moan!

Brass and Liam are Isla's best friends and two of the people she trusts. Liam saved her from the darkness years ago. Brass has been her biggest support along with Liam. When Liam and Isla are together, they conquer and divide, but when the fight calls for them to divide and conquer their own feelings for the other, one runs and other is left reeling from most hurtful rejection.

Isla is faced with a situation that will turn everything upside down. Her strength, determination and survival are a testament to how brave she is. The ups and downs of falling in love with your best friend who has constructed walls so high it seems impossible to climb.

Liam has gotten himself into a situation he tried not to get into. The hurt he was going to cause, may end with himself being hurt by Brass. Finding himself experiencing feelings he has been able to ignore, but no longer able to, he finds he may be too late to tell the woman he loves. When his best friend is in danger, his only goal is to save her.

Blocking any type of love can cause more problems than expected, both Isla and Liam learn this the hard way.

Loved this book!

"Loss. It's merely a word, but it is a word that is often underestimated. " This early quote in Intertwined by Sasha Brummer is powerful. It sets the scene fro the story of Isla and Liam "Bleeping" Jensen. Best friends for years, they are both so broken, both at other's hands and their own. Isla may have learned to turn her sadness and depression into being the ice queen she seems to portray to others, but Liam knows another side of her. For years they have had the best "friends with benefits" relationship. Neither capable of wanting or giving more to anyone else. Do they belong together? Or is this the best that both can expect from any relationship.

A series of twists and turns begin to tear them apart and bring them together and tear them apart again. The growth of Isla and Liam emotionally through this story is astounding and revealing and just so beautiful. I had a few moments of What? did that REALLY happen?...some very unexpected moments but the ride was so worth it. Take the ride and celebrate the journey of life.

Angst, emotional, pain, love and friendship is Intertwined. This steamy and captivating story of Liam and Isla will get your heart beating. Her no nonsense attitude and his alpha tendencies will want you to turn the pages to see what happens next.
At first I didn't like Liam. But with time, he grew on me. Isla had a rough childhood growing up so bad that she changed her name. She got along better with men. But only two men "really" knew her. She battled depression. She loved Whiskey. And she loved Liam. The trifecta. They both faced obstacles and both came to terms of what they meant to each other.
I didn't read Blended prior to Intertwined but don't let that stop you. You will be blown away with Intertwined. I can't wait for more!!

After book one to be honest I wasn't overly fond of Liam and his personality but I feel hard for him in this book. After realizing all that he went through I began to understand why he was like he was plus he quickly redeemed himself to me in this book. Sure he made some mistakes along the way but he was still amazing to me.
I liked Ilsa right from book one, sure she was rude to people but she was only protecting the people she loved. She's fierce, loyal, strong, loving.
This book was amazing right from the first page...loved everything about it....hoping a certain couple....hint, hint, gets their book next...loved him in book one and feel in love with her in this book.

Love it

To be honest its been awhile since I found a book that really stands out and makes you see how your own life mirrors the story. Not in a the way this book is but the feelings of the main character. Depression and loneliness have been a big part of my life and reading about hers and how see doesn't let anything stand in her way is why I love this book but in the end she finally gets her happily ever after with her prince charming and inst that what we all are really looking for.

I know that I've said this before but I need to say it again. I'm the luckiest girl in the world because each day I have the chance to know new author and Sasha is one of them. I've met her through social media and I was super curious to know her work so when the opportunity arose to read her work I did not hesitate, I grabed it right away.
Sasha has a complex writing with so much feelings in every word. The way that this story unfolded was so intense and raw that will make you fall in love with it.
Intertwined tells the stories of Isla and Liam.
Isla is a troubled girl that's surrounded by darkness, pain, betrayal and sadness. Her life has never been easy and no one was there to help or catch her up once she was down not even to cheer her up. When the ones who were supposed to love her unconditionally betray and abandon her she wanted her life to end. Can life get better? Can she let go of her past and from the ghosts that hunt her.?
Liam is a broken man that gave up life after the loss of his fiancé. He can't handle the pain so not only he drowns himself in alcohol and drugs but also he don't want to be bear anyone.
Can two broken souls find happiness? Find closure? An happily ever after?
This book is so intense, so breathtaking, so overwhelming that I'm still trying to manage this turmoil of emotions that this plot woken up in me. I'm speechless, I'm blinded with all of this.
The story revolves around pain, crime, punishment but also around love, friendship, desire.
And there are some pretty hot as hell scenes, in you know what I mean...
And the thing that captivated me more was the ups and downs. It was the fact that I was reading a chapter and thought that it was it and then bamm I was hit with a blow that would knock the air out of my lungs.
And if the first book that I've read from her just
left me like this I can't even imagine what the other books will do.
Sasha I just have one more thing to say : SASHA YOU OWN ME.
