The King

3 - "Thanks for the ride... And breakfast... And for smashing that guys face in." Stars!
Liz Meldon follows up the hugely enjoyable The Fool with the second book in the Games We Play series; The King in this instalment we are given more insight into Delia and Claude and how the ramifications of their first meeting effect their lives going forwards.
I would firstly say that I am a huge fan of Liz’s work, my previous reviews attest to that, my three star rating for The King is not due to lack of enjoyment and more to do with the fact I felt that the first 70% of the book for me, was far to drawn out, so much so that it then made the last 30% feel rushed.
"I like you… despite all your bark and bite. I don’t know why, but I haven’t enjoyed someone as I’ve enjoyed you in some time.
It also felt like that the bulk of the story seemed to happen in the latter stages of the book as well, with the main theme for the first half and some of the second being focussed on the on/off again nature of Delia and Claude’s relationship, and Delia generally being dumped on by various people within the Hunter League.
The parts I liked the best were when Claude and Delia were together, just as a couple getting to know each other, Claude was an absolute gentleman especially if you take into account the challenging position his is in. Delia was a lot of bark with very little bite, in all areas of her life to be honest, and I did struggle to understand her desperate attempts to make herself more accepted in the League, when she for the most part was treated so shoddily.
"This isn’t a war for you to fight alone…"
The writing is Liz’s usual high standards, but I just didn’t think that the story had enough going on in it to warrant it being the length it was. For me this almost felt like another prologue to the next book in the series The Queen which is due for release next year, now although The King wasn’t a 100% winner for me, I am still excited to see where the author takes things in the next book, because the way everything was left at the end of this one leaves a huge number of avenues open for the story in both Claude and Delia’s perspectives…

3.5 Fangs
I enjoyed The Fool and transformed into Happy smurf when I got an ARC for the King. I worked hard to control myself and read it closer to the release date.
Was my patience rewarded?
I hope this vaguely resembles a review, not a list of the reasons I adored Claude ...
This story is built around Claude, Delia and The League.
Claude has to be the coolest, most proper vampire I've had the pleasure to read about. He was calm, patient and noticed the little stuff. He was open, caring but not willing to tolerate a relationship that blew hot and cold.
I liked Delia initially but lost my patience soon. She was stuck in a hostile environment that drained her, all she did was mope.
At times the fiery Delia would resurface and she has the potential to be a terrific lead.
I loved the ending as it changes the lives of our main characters and plunges them into an unfamiliar world. Massive Cliffhanger Alert!
Liz Meldon must have made a deal with the Guardian of Time because her books are a fast paced, engaging read.
I can't wait to read The Queen and see these two conquer the world.

4 "Little Huntress" stars.
After reading The Fool, I couldn't wait to dive into The King. I’m not going to lie and say that I wasn't expecting some sexy-darkish reading because hey, I’m a horny little thing and I was, but what I got here was totally different. Liz Meldon made me feel like I was reading something new. Something fresh. This book was more than just a romance between a Vampire and a Huntress. This is the story of a girl, a human girl, that when lines get blurred and vamp clans get crazy, will have to decide where her loyalty lies. Will she do what she was born to do or will she let her town burn to ashes.
While Delia Roberts, my little huntress, finds herself trapped between try to prove herself amongst the League and the forbidden relationship she has started with the vampire clan leader Claude Grimm, a conspiracy has started, one that’s not only planning on killing humans but vampires also.
”The look shared between them was like wildfire- so wrathful, so destructive, not even the relentless rain outside could stop it.”
Vampires and Hunters are not allowed to be together. It’s forbidden. It’s wrong. And Delia knows it more than anyone but she can’t deny the powerful attraction she feels every time Claude Grimm is around her. And she knows that is just a matter of time till she succumbs to her dream of him.
Is it possible to live with one without sacrificing the other? Or will she have to choose?
Meldon’s writing enchants me. She makes easy for the reader to imagine everything that’s happening in the book. And most important, she has the ability to make you want to vagina punch a character and then BAM, makes you love the shit out of the same character. That’s something I really love about an author. How they can change your mind with just one chapter.
Delia Roberts Oh boy, this girl. This was a big case of hate-love relationship between a character and a reader. I didn't agree with more of her actions, but this is the point where the book does come across as realistic to me. Because at the end of the story, Delia was just a human, and humans are not perfect, they are flawed and I could relate to that. She was a total mess 70% of the book, but those last chapters made her grew on me and I ended up loving her to dead.
Then we have our Vampire, Claude Grimm who throws a wrench into Delia’s life in more ways than she could have ever imagined. He’s not your typical vampire, no, no, no.. Claude has to be the most patient and caring Vampire I’ve had the pleasure to read about, but of course he was not perfect, he also gave me reasons to want to punch him in the balls but well… I got his reasons so I let him be. And yes, I did love my King.
There are few things that troubled me as I read this story. Delia & Claude romance being the most important. I just wanted more from them together, I felt like it was not enough. I can’t help myself, I’m romantic and even though I love-hate main and second characters, plot and everything, I still want more romance. I really hope Liz Meldon gives me sweet and hot in the next book.
Refreshing. Sizzling. Unique. The King is a fast paced, engaging read that will have you glue to your seat until you read the last page and then when you get there… you will want to throw your kindle to the nearest wall because that ending. Cliffy alert.
I can't wait to get my greedy hands on The Queen and see these two rule the world.

Holy.... the game definitely played me!
WOW.
The first 80% is like a campy vampire love story about a girl who is trying to figure herself out. There are funny moments, passionate moments, and moments that feel really relatable. Well, minus the whole vampire and hunter situation. Anywho it's really enjoyable and a fun story.
Then the last 20% is like action packed, crazy revelations, crazy hot love scenes, and just crazy. Like I was on the edge of my seat reading what was happening, and trying to figure things out before they were reveled. Things were secrets that I didn't even know were secrets, and when I looked back at the first parts I was like, "ohhhhh now I see that."
Ok that was probably super vague and mildly confusing because you haven't read this story yet, and that is a shame. So to resolve this issue you are going to read it RIGHT THE HECK NOW!!
Can't wait for The Queen :)

I've been waiting for this book at reading the short story The Fool. What I really liked about this story was that Delia was so relatable. She was at a crossroads in her life and wasn't sure what path she should take. Who hasn't doubted themselves and their career choices? She didn't have everything figured out and she was a hot mess at times. Then you enter in Claude who is a no nonsense bad ass Vampire King. I loved how he didn't take Delia being hot and cold. He told her how he felt and what he expected if they would be together. I love a man, well, Vampire who can take control. The storyline with the league and vampires took me some time to get into because it felt a little slow. Once it picked up I couldn't put the kindle down. Delia doesn't know who to trust and has been put in a horrible position. We have some unexpected events that happened in the book and I didn't see those coming at all. I'm glad the author went a different route to make the plot interesting. I can't wait for the conclusion in The Queen.

The Games We Play duology (including the prologue) is my first venture into throwing my original book babies into the world. I was really interested in tackling a character like Delia, someone who is kind of a mess and struggling to navigate her twenties when her expectations of adult life aren't being met. I'm also a sucker for a sweeter, more academic and suave Heroes, the kind that stumble a bit when faced with a snarky lady, so my main man Claude isn't exactly an alpha. Nor is he a pushover. I suppose Delia is my exploration of characters similar to people my age, and Claude stems from my aversion to the sea of asshole-y "alpha" romance heroes out there.
All in all, this book was a learning experience for me. I wrote, revised, edited, and published it during my post-concussion syndrome phase (which has lasted nearly a year now), and I'm proud of what I accomplished. It's not necessarily for everyone, but I appreciate all those who take the time to read it! See you in 2017 for The Queen!

This book is why I need to read more paranormal type book!! I loved The King and I loved Claude fkn Grimm even more..I mean can you claim ownership over a fictional character?!! Lol just sayin. We come to find out not only is Claude a clan leader but he is also the regional King of all the clans and he wants Delia..a vampire hunter. Ughhh Claude Grimm..so damn hot did I mention that already?!!
Delia is trying her best to make it up the ranks in the League but she just can't seem to get it together no matter how hard she tries but as she spends more time with Claude and her feeling for him gets stronger she starts to question whether being a Hunter is what she wants.
This book was so good but at times I did find it a bit slow that's my only complaint ...oh and the fact that there's a damn cliffhanger ..grrrr!! For the next book The Queen I hope Delia comes back bad ass and starts kicking ass because she's kind of a hot mess..would really love to see her strong and fierce!!!

I received an ARC of “The King” (The Games We Play #1) to read for review purposes. When I found out that there was a prequel “The Fool” I purchased a copy to read prior to reading this installment. After reading the prequel I couldn’t wait to start “The King”, as I was eager to discover what happened after the events that took place at the masquerade ball.
The prologue was intriguing and made me want to delve further into the story. This installment was exciting, although there were moments when the story slowed down somewhat. This was probably due to volume of background information that was provided as it relates to the League and the various vampire clans.
I am a big fan of paranormal stories, especially those involving vampires. I have read quite a few, most of which follow a particular trend, where you may find the vampire being somewhat domineering. “The King” took a different direction. For me, this was more than a romance between a vampire and a huntress. This story had a lot of layers, one just have to take the time to peel each one away.
When I first met the characters in the prequel I was intrigued by them. I was curious to learn what made them tick. Delia is a vampire huntress who has spent years trying to prove her worth to the League, but to no avail. She never gained the respect she craved no matter what she did. I understood her need to go out on a limb to prove herself, but is putting her life on the line worth it? She tends to be a bit reckless as she does not think things through before acting. I didn’t like how she kept kowtowing to the upper echelons in the League, trying to gain their recognition. However, by the end of the book, I saw the real Delia shining through, by then my respect for her grew. She was a fighter and was willing to take on any challenge that came her way.
Claude Grimm, the vampire that stole Delia’s heart was absolute perfection. He was not your typical vampire. Not only was he handsome and charismatic, he was also patient and caring. He was a protector by nature. He was not afraid to go after what he wanted which was demonstrated in his pursuit of Delia. I liked that he did not force his will on her. He gave her room to make her own choices. However, he was not without his flaws. For a king, he was a bit laid back, which led to him being caught with his pants down (figuratively). I liked that he recognized his error, and took the steps he thought were best to handle the situation that had arose.
I enjoyed the interaction between Delia and Claude, although I found her actions at times frustrating. Claude pulled out all the stops to win her over, but she kept rejecting him, even though deep down she wanted to be with him. However, circumstances would force her hand and she had no option but to give in. At this point, things between them began to flow making for an interesting read. Their moments together made me smile and had me rooting for them especially in light of the forbidden nature of their romance.
I was hoping for a little more action where the hunters and rogue vampires were concerned. It wasn’t until about the last 40% of the book that things began to heat up.
“The King” is a story of love, betrayal and the quest for power. It demonstrated that the persons closest to us have the power to destroy us if we are not careful. This was something that both Delia and Claude would discover. This was a good story, one that I recommend to fans of paranormal romances. I am eagerly awaiting the release of “The Queen”.

I love Liz Meldon's work, and The King definitely did not disappoint. I got about 30% through the book without reading the prologue (The Fool) and decided to go back and read that first. It doesn't necessarily give any detail that's not in The King, but it's a nice introduction to the characters.
Delia is me and I am Delia. She's Liz Lemon meets Buffy, a vampire slayer who is fighting to make her way in a male-dominated workplace (be still my heart) and also has a severe problem of falling into bed with the wrong people. She makes bad decisions. She has food on her shirt. She is, in short, my idol.
Claude was not your typical romance lead either. When Delia is hot and cold because of Things, he's like "Look bitch, I don't play that game. Either be in or be out, because I got shit to do." Which I was like "Oh hell yeah, man."
A couple things toward the end dropped it from a five to a four, but I'm itching to get my fingers on the final book in the duology, The Queen.
Delia is me and I am Delia. She's Liz Lemon meets Buffy, a vampire slayer who is fighting to make her way in a male-dominated workplace (be still my heart) and also has a severe problem of falling into bed with the wrong people. She makes bad decisions. She has food on her shirt. She is, in short, my idol.
Claude was not your typical romance lead either. When Delia is hot and cold because of Things, he's like "Look bitch, I don't play that game. Either be in or be out, because I got shit to do." Which I was like "Oh hell yeah, man."
A couple things toward the end dropped it from a five to a four, but I'm itching to get my fingers on the final book in the duology, The Queen.

I freaking LOVED this book!! The prequel novella was certainly yummy, yummy goodness, but for some reason I was skeptical about the crime genre aspect moving forward. Boy was I ever wrong! The politics and intrigue were wonderful - easy enough that knowing Liz's style, I was never overly stressed about any of it, but fast-paced and crazy enough that I was super enticed. AND DELIA AND CLAUDE ARE THE PERFECT MATCH! I absolutely loved their romance. It went in a direction I wasn't expecting at all given how it was first presented and what typical vamp/human love stories tend to be like, but that's partly why this series is working: there are enough of the old mythologies and tropes in place with some great fresh spins that it all really works. Any romance lover who digs the vampire angle will ADORE Delia and Claude's story. I eagerly await the conclusion when Liz recovers enough to write it because I know it's going to be amazing!

I loved The Fool and was itching to get my hands on The King.And let me just say my (im)patience was rewarded!
What I loved the most about this book was the fact that unlike other vampire books in which the heroine is a special snowflake, our Delia here isn't special at all.In fact she is so unspecial that she is barely a mid-level hunter.Despite how hard she works she hasn't been able to move up the vampire hunter ranks and she doesn't get good assignments.She had tried her hand at sneaking into a vampire masquerade a few months ago, only to end up with a hot,steamy encounter that she can't erase from her memory and a bite on her neck from vampire clan leader-Claude Grimm.
She has to do her best to hide the bite from the League and though she tries her best to stay away from Claude he seems to be popping up everywhere.
To add to the growing list of troubles, it appears as if someone from the Donovan clan is murdering other vampires and leaving behind the Donovan clan symbol as a statement.When Claude offers to help her improve her fighting skills, she wonders whether to take him up on his offer.She is surprised when she is offered a new assignment, the downside being she may have to betray Claude!What will Delia do now?With vampire tensions rising everywhere and dangerous situations popping up, will she be able to maintain her relationship with Claude and her position at the League?
I loved Delia and Claude!Delia was kickass,witty and a little stupid at times.Not everyone in this world ends up knowing what they want to do with their life.Even though being a hunter wasn't her passion, I loved how Delia was willing to work really hard for it.She didn't whine about the hand that was dealt to her.But she did irritate me at times when she kept running hot and cold towards Claude.You can't have your cake and eat it too, girl!I loved how Claude called her out on it! :*
Claude-my favorite vampire!I'm so tired of the uber-alpha type of vampires that we usually find these days.Claude was sensible for his age.He didn't try to control Delia or pursue her when she said no.He waited for her to make up her mind and was patient!*claps* And it isn't like she is his one true love either.He has been married four times before and he loves Delia in his own way!This is what a realistic vamp should be like!
The action and the suspense in the story had me at the edge of my seat, though it kind of dragged a little in the middle.And that ending!*sighs* That was quite a cliffhanger!I'm quite surprised by Claude's actions but considering his character I think that's what he would have done.He lets Delia make her own choices!(and doesn't drag her off or kidnap her!!)
I can't wait to read the next book!!I'm so excited to see what will happen to the world that the author has created!Please Ms.Meldon, I hope you release The Queen soon!:D

You have to read the novella "The Fool" before starting this novel. You can read "The Fool" for free by going to the author's website https://lizmeldonwrites.com/books/the.... Click on "InstaFreebie" and you can choose the format you want the story emailed in (PDF, Mobi, EPUB).
Overall, this story, while the author has done a fine job world building and isn't a terrible storyteller, I found it to be boring. I wished there was more action and more time spent on Claude and Delia interacting with each other. Kain and Delia had more interaction than her and Claude which made it seem they had more chemistry and sexual tension. I would have liked to see Claude and Delia work together on her training. They trained for over a month together and I would have liked to see their relationship build and grow from there. The only time we see them together is for Delia's first day of training. Afterwards, nothing happens. I wanted them to have more banter and to see the push and pull of their relationship as Delia worked through her feelings for the vampire. Experiencing the training sessions would have helped push the story forward in my opinion especially because not only would it have built her relationship with Claude but caused conflict with her peers.
The only scene where I was truly invested was when Delia went to the grocery store and had to take down 5 vampires by herself. That action scene was especially interesting and we could have seen how Claude's training helped her prepare for that "battle." Also, I was annoyed that we didn't get to experience the Donovan clan take down. We were just given one little scene. I wanted to see and experience that entire thing. I wanted to witness the action but the author kind of glossed over it when it's supposed to be a major scene in the book.
Delia's naivety and lack of strength or back bone really irritated me too. I mean, she hears a child screaming from being tortured and does nothing to investigate or stop it despite the person being a vampire. I literally wanted to punch her in the face! She literally walks away and does nothing about it. Another thing, why does she have headaches all the time? Is it because she was bit by Claude or is this supposed to be a reflection of her annoyance? Also, I could not stand how terrible a vampire huntress she was. She'd been doing this for over 5 years and couldn't successfully fight vampires with her wit to make up for her incomparable strength. Also, I am still annoyed she thought it was okay to hook up with someone at a vampire party despite her profession. Why did she think it wouldn't be a problem later on? She just assumed Claude was human because he was warm. As a huntress, it doesn't make sense for her to take the risk.
One more thing...why was she so devoted to the league? I really had trouble understanding that part of the novel. The leaders and Kain treated her like crap all the time and made her feel worthless. Why was she staying loyal and why was she determined to prove herself and her worth? Did this have something to do with her Aunt? I needed that to be explained better.
I'm not sure if I would have felt more sympathy towards Delia if the author decided to write from a first person perspective instead. I liked that towards the end of the book, even though the author has written from a third person limited point of view (Delia's perspective), we read from Claude's point of view. I think this book could have been more interesting if we had his insight. Maybe if there was some back and forth between him and Delia we could have understood his perspective better because I honestly found him to be a terrible leader. He honestly was boring to me. This book is the sequel to The Fool which is a prequel novella. We follow the main characters Delia and Claude following the events of the masquerade.
The pacing felt a little slow at the beginning but we do learn more about the Hunter League and how Delia feels about her career. I found it interesting but not loving the whole hierarchy of it, especially when Delia often shrunk back against the higher ups when she should have fought back. It was fine but I feel it got more interesting near the end, around 70% of the book. I do like how Delia isn't perfect and grew up when she finally figured out what she really wanted in her life which is what many adults are dealing with, myself included.
I still like Delia and Claude but felt like Delia didn't really deserve Claude. I didn't quite see what he saw in her but I hope that will be revealed in the sequel. I didn't have a problem with Delia but do feel that Claude got the short end of the stick in the relationship. To me, Claude had infinite patience with her and sometimes felt like she acted immature even though she had a good heart or intentions. I'm hoping to see more growth in the next book.
Overall, the plot was ok for 50% of the book but got better near the end and the conclusion ended just as I thought it got more interesting. If you're looking for any sexy-times, don't expect it until the end of the book either if that's what you're looking for after reading The Fool. Those were fun but short lived.

This was one of my most anticipated reads this year. I already liked Meldon's books, but this one, friends, has put her on my insta-buy list. I was looking for an intriguing urban paranormal fantasy with vampires and kickass heroines, and that's precisely what The King is. I couldn't have asked for more <3
I loved the characters, especially Delia and Claude. I already knew both from the prequel novella The Fool, but since novellas are short they didn't get the time to shine that they had here. Delia is one of the most relatable characters I've read in a while. She tries to do the right thing when she isn't being told half of the details herself, and makes a few bad decisions because of it, usually followed by regret. Who hasn't been in that situation? She isn't one of those heroines who just kinda gets lucky a lot, and guesses correctly most of the time. She's real, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her struggle her way through life with the best intentions.
"Do you want me to take you home?" he asked, gently, like he was speaking to a lost child. Only she wasn't a lost child. Just a somewhat broken adult, one who needed some time alone with a tub of ice cream, a bottle of wine, and trashy TV to nurse her bruises - on her body and on her ego.
I was actually amazed at how quickly I got through this. I wasn't expecting a fast read since this isn't a novella, but I flew through it all the same.
The King also had a villain I loved to hate - although, "villain" isn't really the right word here, especially compared to the real bad guy. Kain was a twat, and added to Delia's problems. He tries to do the right thing, too, and he believes in his cause, I just happen to disagree with him on everything :)
I don't normally comment on this, but then it's not usually worth a mention: The chapter titles were brilliant. My favourites include "CHAPTER 4: That Dream Where You're Standing In Front of The Class Wearing No Pants...Yeah, That, But Worse", "CHAPTER 5: I Like You, but You Suck at Your Job (Subtext)", and "CHAPTER 11: We're Bad at This.".
If you're looking for a fast-paced, believable paranormal erotic romance with a kick-ass heroine, you've found it! It's not necessary to have read the prequel to enjoy this one, but I recommend you do anyway because there are some references to The Fool, and because it'll give you a great introduction to the main characters. I'm waiting for the sequel The Queen now and can't wait to get my hands on it <3

I really enjoyed this book. I just stumbled upon it and read it in less than 24 hours, so good, right up my alley. I’m not going to give anything away, but just day go read it. Only issue I have is I need to know what happened next, and I can’t find the next book anywhere! Where is “The Queen”?

This book is phenomenally well written with a plot that will have you finishing this until some ungodly hour in the morning. I've been following Liz Meldon for coming on five years, and she has always blown my mind in her creativity, plot structure, dynamic and unique characters, and of course her flawless writing. This book is highly recommended, not as a biased reader, but the fact that she's so overwhelming good at what she does. "The King" is a spectacular representative of her work, and I am so happy to support her in the best ways that I can!
Don't like conventional vampire-romances? Then this is the book for you! "The King" extrapolates the conventional into an interesting and fast paced environment that continually has you guessing what's going to happen next!

I have been completely bewitched by the King and his little huntress. I don't typically read paranormal romances but this book had caught my interest immediately after reading the prologue "The Fool" and seeing some teasers on social media. I would highly recommend reading the prologue before reading this book in order to get a better feel and understanding of the story. I was really excited to read this book after I read the prologue and I must say that the author didn't disappoint. I'm officially a fan of this amazing author and look forward in reading more of her work. The author's approach to the vampire genre was so refreshing and different from anything that I have read before. There were so many aspects of the book that I enjoyed. One of the things that I loved about this story were the moments in which you would think you knew what would occur but instead being completely blindsided by the surprises you wouldn't expect. At times I couldn't put this book down because I was so immersed into the story that I couldn't help myself in finding out what would happen next. In regards to the characters, I loved Claude's character because he was different from your typical vampire because he was sweet and caring. I hope that in the next book we'll get some of Claude's point of view. But in the case of Delia's character I loved her and also found her frustrating at times. I loved that she was relatable in her struggle to find herself and in getting her life and career together. On the other hand, I found her frustrating in regards to her relationship with Claude and treatment of him. I really felt for Claude and I hoped that Delia would sort out her feelings for him once and for all. Overall, The King is a book that will have hooked from beginning to end. Even though the story ends in a cliffhanger, I am really excited to read the next installment "The Queen".

The books picks up right where The Fool ends. Della has bit marks from her night with Claude Grimm the vampire king and she is trying to get her life together. Della is trying to hid it from the league and Claude is pursuing her. She is torn she knows she should stay away from him but she wants to spend more time with him. Della is realizing that things are not as they seem. What will she choose Claude or the League? What will happen if the League finds out? Will Claude give up or will he continue to persuade her? I really felt for Della at times because the league clearly has their own goal in mind. They keep important things form the hunters and have their favorites. I feel like Della might not have ended up in the situation with Claude had the league trained her better and not kept so much from her because of her place of the league ladder. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Great job Liz.

I just loved Liz Meldon's "The Fool" and "The King"dosen't disapoint.
The heroin Delia is somewhat clumsy and "normal" and i got Crazy with her. I was like " take a chance" "Come on Delia" sometimes i just had To Put the book down . Take a break and breathe. I was sittning On nedles. Yeah she is a Caracter.
The King Claude! Had lots of patience with the heroin.
And The tension between the two is palpable. "Hot"
The reason i didn't give the book 5 stars is because I thought Claude should be more "Alpha male" like "me Tarzan you Jane" type. Thats how I preferenser my male Heroes.

It was good and then it was okay...and then it ended but unfortunately for me it missed the mark to leave me wanting more after that cliff hanger. Delia is a very weak character, and I feel like Claude is almost too sweet, he's a vampire king for petes sake. With that being said this is where this series will end for me. Good book but the sex was few and far between, the action was well there wasn't any, and the ending just made me lose interest completely.

Seriously. What was the ending?! I kept waiting and thinking ' This is the moment. Something surprising and bad will happen now. The bad guys are attacking! Now they will do something dramatic. Or maybe on the last page?' But no. Nothing freaking interesting happened.

Really disappointed with that ending. Doesn't really make me want to see what happens next. If there will even be a next book.
