  1. Drunk Guy & Racism

I’m often discouraged by people who don’t understand racism affects everyone. Racist people don’t see you as not dark enough. Minorities would be stronger together. I know we can’t fix society overnight.

I’m also annoyed at the person who wants to waste time arguing about terminology. How does that fix anything? Hate is hate. Isn’t that what we are really fighting? Racist people don’t ask what Island you are from, they don’t care. I’m always bothered by “I’m darker than you, I deserve more attention when it comes to racism.” Really? Have you ever been caught in the middle? Do you know how hard it’s to feel hated by both sides? Our problem is everyone always thinks of only the self.

Kim Kardashian once posted about being worried about her mixed child. She was met with hate. Have you ever had a child ask you what they were because they are mixed? Have you ever had your child hated for no reason and had no explanation for them? When will the hate stop? I’m sorry to say but all people just seemed to be focused on color.

My son said “Mom the other day my friends and I were outside and some drunk guy pulled up to us. He called everyone who wasn’t white a nigger. He gave the white kids $10 each. All my friends wanted to kick his ass but we decided he was just a stupid drunk guy.” Some of his friends are Asian, Black, & white. I’m bothered by the fact the kids are always bringing up color and race. I think it’s good to be different and cherish culture but why is this always the main conversation with these kids? I’m proud they didn’t turn to violence. They are big 15 year olds. I’m often in awe at their physical strength. I’m proud to be the mom of such powerful humans. It is a big responsibility however because violence is easy.

I don’t want to talk about race. I want to talk about culture, you as a person, what we like or don’t like. I want to be human with you. Why is that so hard? I feel like society has such a strong pull on our kids, it feels like I lose the battle daily. Trump as president is a terrible feeling.
