Indy to Tampa: Frontier Airlines Launches Inaugural Tampa Flight Today

Tampa flight marks Frontier’s fifth nonstop destination out of the Indy airport

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 12, 2017) – Travelers looking to escape Indiana’s cold weather are now able to catch a new seasonal nonstop flight to Tampa through Frontier Airlines. The inaugural flight takes off today from the Indianapolis International Airport (IND).

The new flight is scheduled to depart Indy three times per week at approximately 3 p.m. The nonstop flights will run seasonally until mid-April 2018.

Tampa is the airline’s third nonstop Florida destination out of the Indy airport – with flights to Fort Myers and Orlando available. It is also the fifth nonstop flight through Frontier, including Denver and Las Vegas.

“The Tampa destination is the second investment that Frontier Airlines has made in the Indy airport this year, after launching a nonstop flight to Las Vegas in July,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “This continuous pipeline of new and additional nonstop flights increases the airport’s value to the public, giving passengers more options to their favorite destinations.”

Prior to today’s inaugural Frontier flight, passengers could reach Tampa with Southwest Airlines.

“We continue to add flights between the places people want to fly, and by doing so we are allowing more people to travel than ever before,” said Richard Oliver, spokesman with Frontier Airlines. “With the launch of our new flights between Indianapolis and Tampa, we offer a friendly, reliable low-cost option for travelers.”

The Indy airport averages 143 flights daily, seasonally and year-round, to 49 nonstop destinations.
