When their beloved hangout is about to close the plan is to bring back The Fix on Sixth to its former glory and Man of the Month book 2 and it is Brooke and Spencer’s turn.

3.5 'What kind of ending is that?' Stars

They say that opposites attract and in this case with Brooke & Spencer it is spot on.

Brooke Hamlin, a Texan judge’s daughter has after a lot of heartache removed herself out of her father’s clutches. But she paid a hefty price for breaking her heart for a true sacrifice. After so many years she still hasn’t gotten over it, over him. On her way to be a successful contractor she has a chance to appear on a show but she is going to need a little backup from the one person who will probably never forgive.

Spencer Dean from the wrong side of the tracks met the girl of his dreams and they were about to wed after heartache and financial ache he is back to be on a TV reality show when it comes to flipping houses. The channel will only finance his series if he works with Brooke his ex-fiancée.

I really, really liked this book. I was rooting for the characters from start to finish. They are great together and they truly belong together. I felt everything they felt and was so glad they got their HFN. Sparks truly do fly.

I haven’t read any other series by this author so I’m not sure if she loves adding too much drama to her books but for me it sure does feel that way. There were a lot of things in this book that could have been left out or been fleshed out more. One too many things on the drama llama but the author’s writing style is good and I really like it. Time flew while I was reading this book.

Hold On Tight by J. Kenner is an emotional second chance romance that takes place five years later when two former lovers are reunited and forced to work together. And in the case for Spencer and Brooke, their feelings for each other are about to collide as old pain, hurt, and remorse comes flooding back in as they reignite their love for each other. Can five years apart, help Spencer and Brooke to forgive each other and learn how to love again? Can they hold on tight to the love they one shared before and now?

#HoldOnTight_kenner

With Kenner's heartfelt and beautiful writing, she captures the true raw emotions of her characters as they battle with their feelings. I really enjoyed this book as this was a second chance romance that really takes readers on a journey that bridges the past and present. So if you are ready to meet Mr. February then this book is for you.

The overall series is about the bar called The Fix on Sixth that is about to go under. Tyree trusted the wrong guy to finance the start of the bar and now this guy wants the loan paid off in full or lose it. Employees and friends do not want to see this happen so they are willing to invest in the bar and come up with ways to raise money and bring more customers in. Jenna, one of the new partners has come up with the idea to hold a Calendar of the Month contest for the public to choose each months model for the Calendar.

In this installment of the Man of the Month series, Jenna contacts Brooke, a contractor, to see if she is willing to donate the materials to remodel the bar. Brooke takes it one step better and gets television executives involved to not only pay for the remodel but to do a tv series on the remodel and airing the Man of the Month contest that are being held each month. There is just one problem. The tv execs want to add a co-host who just happens to be the jilted Groom of Brookes.

I'm not the biggest fan of second chance romance but I gotta admit J. Kenner had me devouring this book because of what really happened to make Brooke walk away from Spencer. Things aren't what they seem and I couldn't wait for the truth to come out. There were a few instances that I felt got a bit rushed in the story but these books are on the shorter side. I love that we get to see the same characters in each book and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Hold on Tight is the second book in J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series, and it’s even more fun than the first book. After finishing book one, Down on Me, I was excited for more. I was convinced this would be a collection of novels that would bring so much fun – and this book has only solidified my feelings.

The Man of the Month series is a collection of interconnected romance stories, proving favourites as a larger story plays out. Each novel features a favourite romance trope, ensuring there is something for everyone. The first book, Down on Me, provided us with the friends-to-lovers trope; this second book, Hold on Tight, provides us with the second chance romance. Although each book is an individual story with a start and an end, I would recommend reading these books in order. To understand some of the details of the story in full, you need to understand how things came to be throughout the first book. You’re certainly told, to ensure you have the basic facts to understand the story, but it is not the same as experiencing all that happened – for a bigger picture, read Down on Me. After all, it’s a fun book, one you will not regret reading.

Like the first story, you knew how things were going to play out in this one. You know how the trope plays out, and you know our male lead will be February’s man of the month. Despite this, the smaller details quickly pull you in. You know where things are going, but you want to see how things will come together. In fact, there were more surprising elements to this one than the prior book. Nothing overly shocking, but there were details that certainly added extra layers to the story.

My only real issue with this book was the final chapter. There was an underlying story throughout this one that was somewhat darker than I’d expected, and the way it was dealt with in the end disappointed me. It felt as though the author realised it needed to be brought to a close, but did not put the same amount of effort into close the one detail as they did closing off the rest of the story. I really adored our characters in this one, their story was amazing, but I was disappointed in how one of the significant elements ended.

Overall, though, I loved this one. I’m so excited for the rest of the series – we were introduced to even more potential couples that may come into play later in the book, and I cannot wait to see how each of the tropes play out. Up next in book three, Need You Now, we have a brother’s best friend story – if the epilogue is any indication of what is to come, it’s going to be another wonderful read.

I am so loving this Man of the Month series by J. Kenner. It's wonderful that it's a 12 book series, they are all standalone (but connected), each one is fresh and new and the Epilogue leads you into the next Man of the Month. I thought Down on Me was hot but, Brooke and Dean are just as well. If she keeps up the sizzle, my Kindle may burn up.

Dean … wow. A man hell-bent on revenge. Hurt and mislead, he can't help but hope that Brooke signs on the dotted line and gives into his demands. Revenge is sweet when served up on a bed with scarves and paddles. But, can he go through with it after seeing the reaction on her face?

Brooke has been held hostage by a take-all father. If Dean knew the real reason she left him, would he understand or would he exact revenge elsewhere? Then add in the betrayal by his best friend and she doesn't know what he will do. She never stopped loving him and she can see glimpses of his love, the old Dean, in his eyes every time he looks at her. So, does she let the truth out and move forward or does she not sign the contract and move on?

First I was appalled by Deans actions then I was so proud of him. And, a little hot for Mr. Fixer-Upper! My heart broke for Brooke but knew that she was a strong woman and would make the right decisions for herself, her business and Dean. The love that these two had never died and both of them knew it but it was trust that they needed to earn back. As Mr. February took the stage, I was wondering if he would sprout poetic about his love for Brooke as had Reece in Down on Me. But, like I said earlier, each book is fresh and, as of yet, nothing has repeated itself. I am hoping that none of them do. It is going to take a strong and amazing author to come up with 12 completely different scenarios to make each book different. I have no fear that J. Kenner will pull this off, satisfy her fans and keep us on our toes as to how she will bring 12 different men together with 12 different woman.

When have you ever read a new series of 12 books in 6 months? Unless it was a preexisting series and I wanted to read them all, I never heard of it. But, we at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews would love if you kept reading Man of the Month. As a little incentive, there may be a surprise at the end of it all. You may have to work for it but, reading the series will help. Stay tuned and happy reading. Now, on to Cameron!

Another glorious addition to the Man of the Month series by J.Kenner. Hold On Tight was delightful. Full of second chances, uncovering secrets and recovering lost love. This new series is on fire and with only the second book out and escalating, one could only imagine what the rest of the books will entail.

“There’d been so much pain between them. So many lost opportunities. And way too many secrets.”

Brooke Hamlin and Spencer Davis were once engaged, but someone close put a stop to that quick, putting Brooke in a dire predicament; their love or Spencer’s happiness. Hurt beyond repair, Spencer moves onward becoming a TV icon as a remodeling show host, but now 5 years later, he has one more show on his contract to finish. The catch... he must co-host with his ex on sprucing up a bar, Fix on Sixth. Both must come together to work for their own personal missions and keep their longings for each other on the back burner, but can they? Is love really lost? When past secrets arise on what really happened years ago, can they move forward or will the past circle back again?

Kenner is always on par with the amount of detail and backstory she puts into her characters. No matter how short or long her books are, you can always have a sense of understanding of your H/h are. We know Brooke from the tail end of Down On Me and I was ever eager to know her story with Spencer. Their story has so much chemistry, from their first re-encounter to the end is unforgettable. Spencer has so much hate at the beginning due to past pain, but to see him care for Brooke still was swoon-worthy. Their chemistry was hot and even though their re-connection began with 100% tension, it fizzled out over time. Brooke was not a pushover which I really liked. She stuck to her beliefs and to her love for Spencer despite someone else (which I won’t name).

Each of these novels so far packs a punch and I can’t wait to read the rest. I am eager to see what romance trope is next in Need You Now.

HOLD ON TIGHT by J. Kenner is book Two in the "Man of the Moth" series. This is the story of Spencer and Brooke. This is a standalone book.
Spencer and Brooke were to be married about 5 years ago but she left. This has put Spencer off to trusting women after their breakup. But the reality tv star Spencer is now needed to help out Brooke who is possibly getting her own show...but they want Spencer to be apart of it. Brooke has come along way from being in her fathers clutches and now has a good chance at being a successfully contractor with the help from Spencer.
This was a hot second chance at love story!

I bought this as a book bub bargain without looking at the blurb because I've loved other books from this author but I struggled with this one.

If I'd seen it was based around the filming of a reality tv programme I'd have avoided it because that's a huge turnoff for me. I don't get reality tv, don't watch it, don't care. Sorrynotsorry.

I struggled to keep track of characters and I wasn't feeling much I'm afraid. I'm sure it's just me.

Hold on tight is the second book in the man of the month series by J. Kenner. I would recommend to skip the first book and begin this one if you haven't read the first book already. I was a little hesitant to begin reading this book because of my bad experience with the previous book and second chance romances are not my thing. Fortunately, things weren't very bad and the characters had an not so bumpy journey. I did feel like a plot wasn't needed and we could have gone on just fine without it. I liked Brooke, she was a good heroine and I couldn't help but be on her side from the very first chapter. Spencer, on the other hand, was never on my good side. Every time he and Brooke made some kind of progress, he would do something to piss me off and ruin things. I totally understood Brooke's hesitation to reveal everything to him and it made me mad to see him say that she didn't trust him and stuff like that. Again, the man of the man wasn't deserving of the lady of the month. He did a better job than Reece, so for me, this book is better. I hope that Cam will save the day in his book and things will work out for him and Mia better. Also, their genre (in love with best friends sister) is one of my favorites and I believe in J. Kenner.

Hold On Tight is the second book in Kenner's Man of the Month series. Each book features a new guy but there is an underlying story about repairing the local bar that is in some financial troubles. So while you can read each book as a standalone, if you want to enjoy the true nature of the series, read them in order. But it won't hurt the actual book if you don't.

Hold On Tight is Brooke & Spencer's book. These two used to be engaged many years ago. But that one day changed everything between them and they have not spoken to each other since that heartbreaking day. Brooke is trying to prove to her parents that she doesn't need to follow in their footsteps to be successful in life. Spencer is just looking to move on with his life and get out from under the spotlight of reality TV now.

But in order for them both to get what they want, they must do one thing that the executives want - work together on the Bar Rehab show. Yea, let's just say things get really interesting between them. I am not going to lie, I did have some issues with how things progressed and played out, but that's because I wanted a deeper novel and that's not what this series is for. It's a binge read series and they are to be quick and hot.

Kenner does a great job of keeping these books fast, hot and enticing. There isn't a whole lot of deep plot elements and that's what helps keep things light yet moving along quickly. At times, this is hard for me to grasp onto because I do enjoy books with a great plot, lots of suspense with the added romance element blended into it. I enjoy books that are longer and deeper, but that is not the point of these books. So please keep that in mind as you read these books.

I am enjoying these books as I am reading them within a few hours of starting and they are leaving me wanting to know what happens with the next hottie in their book.

Second book in this series and again another good read.

This was one was a second chance romance that had the worst villain. Spencer and Brooke had a steamy relationship; he was the boy from the wrong side of the track and she was the rich girl with the “perfect” family but they’ve never paid attention to that. All they’ve ever had eyes for is each other. Until the villain made everything possible to separate them.

Five years later, they have to work together but the chemistry is still there even though they think that they hate each other. It was hard for these two to be on the same room but they made it happen. Little by little they each started letting their walls down. When they started discussing their past relationship lots of things were discovered especially the sacrifices made by Brooke.

The things Brooke went thru and how she came out on top 5 years later is admirable. She had a chip on her shoulder and it was all about her. Spencer was also awesome but I liked her better, 😊.

Hold on Tight is the second book in the new Man of The Month series. This book is the story of Mr. February and the story of Brooke and Spencer. Nothing is as delicious as second chance romance with a Romeo and Juliet type feel!

Brooke was introduced in book one when she met with Jenna to go over renovations for The Fix, the Sixth Street bar in Austin that they are trying to save from financial troubles. Brooke has her own Commercial Renovation Company, much to the disappointment of her parents. They are from the upper crust, her father is a lawyer and her mother is a doctor. They expected her to go to medical school and much to their disappointment, she chose another path.

Spencer is from a poor family. His father went from job to job and they lived in a trailer. His brother joined a local gang and was caught and put in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He was just in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people. Spencer learned the construction trade from his father. Spencer and Brooke met and fell in love. Brooke’s family didn’t want Brooke to marry Spencer because of his family and background.

While planning a future with Brooke, Spencer worked construction and he was good with renovations. So good he approached the network about a television show and became a network star with Spencer’s Place. All was in motion for a happily ever after until Brooke called it off and they have been incommunicado for the last five years.

Spencer continued with Spencer’s Place until his friend and investment manager does some shady dealings and Spencer is in financial trouble. Spencer leaves the network and Spencer’s Place with one more season to film on his contract and returns to Austin. Spencer has been back in town for months and hasn’t run into his ex-finance Brooke until their paths cross when Brooke tries to broker a deal with the network to do a reno show on The Fix. The deal the network makes with Brooke is they will do the show if she does it with Spencer. He has a project on an old home he wants to do on Spencer’s Place, but the network plays the game if you do the reno show with Brooke then you can do the project on Spencer’s Place. They know of Spencer and Brooke’s troubled history and want that drama for the show.
I really disliked Spencer in the beginning. He is bitter and very angry. He wants Brooke to hurt as badly as he did, and he wants revenge. Brooke and Spencer have not spoken in five years and he has no idea the hell and heartbreak Brooke has been through since she had to call off the wedding to the only man she has ever loved and still loves.

Brooke and Spencer have a lot of issues and hurt to move through. This is a bittersweet second chance romance. There are secrets, bitterness, and regret that have to be dealt with. As the story unfolds, details are revealed, and secrets are told. My heart hurt for both of them. Spencer redeemed himself and I began to root of them to turn their relationship around.

This second chance romance with a Romeo and Juliet feel is just the thing to help with the winter blahs. I really enjoyed Mr. February and really look forward to Mr. March!

Any future together for Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin stopped being a possibility five years ago when Brooke broke Spencer’s heart and walked away without a second glance and without an explanation as to the reasons behind her abrupt departure.

But the past always has a way of encroaching on the present and when Brooke’s future career depends on Spencer’s acquiescence, it’s clear that if these two don’t make amends and have an honest conversation about what happened all those years ago, Spencer and Brooke’s hearts will never mend and Brooke will never have a chance to prove she can handle herself in front of and behind the camera.

I love second chance romance stories, especially when the love the hero and heroine felt for each other never dissipated. In Spencer’s perspective, Brooke is the reason his life imploded, leaving him unable to move past how she left things and the many unanswered questions he has. But while it’s clear that it was Brooke’s actions that destroyed her relationship with Spencer, what readers are told about the circumstances surrounding their break up is much needed information - insight that absolutely proves that the decision was forced upon her and the fact that she’s berated herself and broken her own heart many times over attempting to deal with the fallout of her involuntary act shows just how much she regretted losing the only man she’s ever loved.

The premise behind J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series is to provide fast paced sultry and sweet reads that invite readers to experience hot and heavy encounters between the heroes and the heroines, and while there is some backstory provided and the plot has some substance to it in terms of why the characters are coming together - to save their favorite bar - The Fix on Sixth - and how all the characters are connected, these stories aren’t meant to dive too deep into anything too dramatic or emotional, keeping things mostly light and interweaving those moments with the sizzling encounters experienced by the hero and the heroine.

Two spots in the calendar have been filled, but there are still ten more to assign, and I can’t wait to see which males become Mr. March through December…I’m sure they’ll be gorgeous and also have to be persuaded to participate…just like the first two.

Okay . . . I had to take a day to gather my thoughts on just how much I adored Hold on Tight. Seriously. I love an interconnected series, but I had some concerns just how interactive the books would be in the Man of the Month series. Would they stand alone because not everyone starts a series at the beginning. Now, those people who jump right in the middle, I don’t get—why miss out on all the fun, the inside jokes . . . but I digress . . . And at any rate, I shouldn’t have been one bit worried, because this series is amazing.

In Hold on Tight, we get the pleasure of Spencer and Brooke’s full story. And holy moly, is there some history there! Both Brooke and Spencer are a bit stuck in the past—both trying, sorta, to move into some sort of positive working relationship. Well, Brooke is . . . Spencer is trying to figure out how to make her hurt as much as he was when she left him at the altar.

Man, there are so many secrets that these two are keeping. A so much hidden desire and love for the other that you can’t help but want them to figure their shit out. Seriously . . . get to the good stuff, because, damn, the good stuff is so very good. *eyebrow wiggle*

I loved Brooke and her tenacity. Her desire to make something of herself—to be independent and free from the constraints of her family and their overbearing nature. And Spence. Damn. I adored him from the start—the good man with the bad boy background, who pulled himself out of a crappy situation to have a good life. And Brooke and Spence together. Good golly, the heat between them was palpable—my Kindle got quite warm.

I cannot wait for more in this excellent series. Cam and Mira are going to be fun to get to know. ~ Missy, 5 stars

HOLD ON TIGHT by J. Kenner is book Two in the "Man of the Moth" series. This is the story of Spencer and Brooke. This is a standalone book. They were to be married 5 years before but she left before they could be married. This has put Spencer off to trusting all women after their breakup. 5 years later has Spencer who has become a TV icon and he is a remodeling show host. He has one last show before he is done with his contract. The catch …he must co-host /work together on a show with his ex-girlfriend Brooke .
There is a back story as to why she left him and she did it for good reasons but Spencer doesn’t know this, all he can think of is when he finds out he has to co-host a show with his ex, he wants his revenge; You know, it’s the ole “She broke my heart, now I’m going to break her” routine but that’s until he actually sees her again and then Spencer has a hard time keeping revenge in his head. Its weird , he goes hot and cold..its a push/pull with him. He loves her, then he hates her. This is such a raw and angsty romance read and one of the shorter stories by Ms. Kenner. Spencer and Brooke's story is one you cannot stop reading. It has it all- intrigue, manipulation, passion, desire, angst and above all, LOVE. This second chance romance was so passionate, very sweet and incredibly sexy and hot! I know I can’t wait for Mr. March!

Second chance romance are always a lot of fun. In this one, we have Brooke and Spencer. They are from 2 very different worlds but found a connection that was strong enough to get them to get past all of that and get married...until she leaves him on their wedding day.

5 years and one successful reality show later, they are brought back together in Austin, with a reality show partnership and co-hosting a show set in The Fix, the bar they are invested in keeping open past the end of the year.

This is a shorter novel, so there is not a lot in the way of development of the current characters and a lot of the story is told with a reference to the past, but there is plenty here in order for you to be interested in the story and the characters.

You like Spencer, and you believe that there is a lot more motivating him than what he claims, a desire for revenge and even though he is a bit of a jerk at the beginning, it is ignore-able as you know where it is coming from and how he obviously still feels about her.

I enjoyed this title and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

I recommend this book.

Overlapping with Mr January's story, here comes Mr February ...

Spencer has never wanted for much. His childhood was rough but it was all worth it when Brook Hamlin came into his life. She was his from the moment he pulled off the road to help her change her tire. When she left him, she took his heart with her.

Now that the two are being forced to do this T.V show together - remodeling The Fix while filming the Man of the Month contest - he wants his revenge; She broke his heart, now he's going to break her... until she looks at him with those big eyes and he sees something new there. Then he's back to where he was the day she left him.

A raw and heart-racing read, Spencer and Brooke's story is one you cannot put down. Getting both POV's, plus the back story of what really happened all those years ago, will pull at your heart strings (and your drawstrings *fans self*). Love, manipulation, and the power one has when you love someone is shown throughout this whole story in many ways. Absolutely breathtaking.

Hold on Tight
Man of the Month, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series

The Characters:

Spencer Dean:
Brooke :

The Story:

I DNF’d this book about 30% in. I'm not comfortable with how this whole rape/revenge thing is happening. Like I'm sure he doesn't know she was raped but I'm also not okay with his "revenge" being the power to take away her sexual choices. It’s very possible Spencer finds out about the rape and changes his mind or whatever but I just instantly disliked him after that and decided I didn’t care about his story anymore. Also the narrator did an absolutely terrible job with Brooke’s voice. I don’t recall the text ever stating she was British (and it’s something I could have missed) but I imagine he was trying to portray posh and it was not.

The Random Thoughts:

*DNF - no rating

This is one emotion-packed book! I really felt for both Brooke and Spencer and the difficult situation they find themselves in. They used to be engaged, until Brooke left Spencer at the altar. They had great chemistry and the tension of their past really added another emotional level to their relationship.

Spencer Dean has become a household name, starring in a popular house-flipping program. He is retired from television, but the producers want him to do a final show with a co-star, centering on the remodeling of the bar where the Man of the Month contest will take place. The network has paired him with a remodeling expert, who happens to be his former fiancée, Brooke Hamlin.

Spencer was an amazing leading man, his struggle to be there for Brooke despite his hurt and anger showed his character. I loved that even though Brooke had wounded him horribly, he didn’t hate her. Time and again, he proved to Brooke that he was a decent man. Watching his struggle and his determination to remain strong against the pull of his love for her was powerful!

Brooke has been forced to make a terrible decision that has cost her her chance at happiness. Seeing Spencer opens old wounds but she is prepared to give in to him.

You really get a sense of how much these two mean to each other. I liked how things progressed, how they really had to work things out and learn to trust one another again. I rooted for them and I liked seeing them struggle, grow and heal. They definitely deserved their HEA. This book was a great addition to the Man of the Month series!
I received an advanced copy of this book.

A heroine’s whopper of a secret choice led to the hero’s need for revenge in J. Kenner’s second book in her sexy Man of the Month series. Every bit as powerful a love story as book one, Hold on Tight will grab hold of your heart and not let go.

Revenge tropes are tricky for me to get on board with sometimes as there can be such a level of animosity that it’s almost uncomfortable to read. However, I know that if anyone can make me like this trope, it’s J. Kenner. And I can happily say that she did indeed make me like these characters right from the start and feel invested in seeing their predicament work out as they got their second chance at love. It didn’t hurt that we got to hang out with the crew at The Fix on Sixth again. Read More

"A longing for the home he'd never have, the past he couldn't fix, and the woman who'd never be his."

The Man of the Month series is making me wish there were more than 12 months in a year!

I met Brooke in the last book as she was pitching her idea to remodel the bar on a TV show that would cover the cost of materials. What better way to promote her business and to help save the local hang out that was in danger of being sold if they couldn't raise enough money in time. It didn't hurt that televising the Man of the Month competition would build it up even more. It was a brilliant idea, but there was a catch, and his name was Spencer. Since he'd already proven himself with the network with his successful show, they insisted that he join Brooke and that they remodel the bar together.

Both Brooke and Spencer are aware that it's their past that is enticing the network to push them together. They want to stir the pot and create some drama to televise. They both have their reasons for wanting to do the show, but can they get past their feelings for each other to make it happen? It's been 5 years, but Spencer is still so angry about being left at the altar. Angrily asking her, "Was it not enough that you yanked my heart out? Then stomped on every goddamn thing I thought was true and real and right? Now you have to come back so that you can rip open the scars?" Yeah, not a great start for Brooke who has been living in her own hell. She expected his anger, but being prepared didn't make it hurt any less.

When he agrees to work with her, he does so under certain conditions that she must agree to. Conditions that have her imagination running wild and her heart beating out of control. Can she bring herself to give in to his demands? Will she admit to herself that she wants to?

I'm really enjoying this series even more as I get to know the characters. There's a core group that appears in all of the stories, the bar staff and their friends and family. Their sense of humor is contagious and their planning and plotting are exciting as the date of each contest approaches. I admit that I'm mentally matchmaking, detecting interest and possible pairings in future books. The Epilogue gives readers a peek into what is coming next, and it's going to be soooo good! I can't wait! The line forms here...

This concept about these friends who have found a way to save their bar is very fun, bringing all along the way new stories for each month, discovering new characters that would bring the heat and that one a lot of angst.

Please meet Spencer Dean, who used to flip houses on TV and also… Brooke’s former fiancé. That one is all about second chance about two people who were torn apart. Social status, heavy baggage, things that would separate them but their love would have been enough until it wasn’t. As Spencer must have thought.

Brooke was looking for a chance to get back to what she loved to, remodeling and designing places, to help these friends to make The Fix the place to be, the bar where friends would reunite to have fun, to imprint a personal unique style, something she excelled to.

I was expecting angst but damn it was consuming … even after all these years, the desire never ceased to ignite, the author knew how to bring the heat. Spencer and Brooke, fireworks inside and outside the bedroom. There was a hint of something darker about these two people who loved each other so fiercely but ruined by people’s melding and manipulations.

All I’ve wanted is to see their HEA, because they deserved it after all they’ve been through. The man who was born and living in the « wrong » side for so many years and the woman who would give him the world. Even if the angst at the beginning drove me mad, this second chance romance was passionate, sweet and as usual incredibly sexy and hot! Can’t wait for Mr. March!

The story continues - and we get exactly what we always expect from J Kenner - a plot filled with twists and turns, not only the ones that surround the couple that we focus on but on the obstacles of their past and all around them.  We know that Brooke is about to get the show of her dreams to help her push her business ahead, and all that stands in her way is Spencer - a guy who had a show on the same network before, but also the guy that she gave her heart to 5 years ago, only to break it in the hopes of keeping a secret.

So here we are - 5 years in the future, where these 2 are thrown together again all so that they can get what they want out of life.  Brooke's business, and Spencer desperately wants to buy a house and fix it up, all on a show that he's due to headline to finish up his contract with the network.  Their deals hinge on each other, and whether it goes off without too much trouble is what we get to read.

The interesting thing in this story is that there's really no angst and anxiety once we get past Spencer being a total guy in the beginning, it's smooth sailing for them, realizing that they still have feelings of love and not hate.  What becomes the issue though is Brooke's father - the same person who ripped them apart all those years ago, and he's trying to manipulate Brooke into playing into his hand.  What he doesn't realize is that she's grown up and she's going to push back.

There are a few underlying secrets and secondary plots that follow this story too - a few that come out in complicated ways, but i think that all in all we get the story that we're all hoping for .

To tie it back to the main purpose of the series though, we get to see how The Fix is getting renovated in the hopes of getting enough money to keep it running.  There's the continued plot line of Jenna and Reese from the fist book and seeing how their story is going on a more mature path as expected.  We also see the introduction of Cam and Mina - the focus for book 3 i'd assume and how that takes shape will be entertaining i'm sure.

Add to all that the romance and steam and heat that we always get from J Kenner, and you have a series that is bound to keep you interested week after week - just waiting to see what comes next and what's going to happen to the bar.  I can't wait for book 3 in another week or so.

The books in this series are just short enough to fall into the insta-feelings territory. However J. Kenner pulls off the right amount character depth and storyline to make this series a gem that is worth every page read.

... I was only ever any good when you were with me

I definitely loved the second book more than the first because of Brook & Spencer’s turbulent relationship history. I loved the macho, working-with-his-hands Spencer. A man who through his rough upbringing just kept on striving and pushing for the better... and for more. However he did have his occasional moments where self doubt took over. Brook was an amazing heroine and once you read the story you will totally agree with me. This was a perfect story of second chance romance. Stories like that make you believe that if it's meant to be... no matter what obstacles... IT WILL BE!

As mentioned in my previous review characters re-appear to create a seamless series. The story goes on but the focus shifts to another couple’s HEA in each book in the series. I wasn’t only invested in Brooke & Spencer’s story but the success of the bar that everyone is working so hard to make a success.

4.5 Star Review Hold On Tight (Man of the Month #2) by J Kenner
The second in the series and in my opinion almost as good as the first book. What happens when reformed bad boy and reality TV star Spencer Dean comes face to face with Brooke Hamilton, the woman, who left him at the altar 5 years ago.
This is the situation that Spencer finds himself in, not only that but it appears Brooke holds his future and that of his new show in her hands and vice a versa. Talk about complicated, this makes for an interesting yet quick read that left me wanting more.
Hold on Tight is a second chance at love story. Can they put their differences aside and work together to ensure both get the success they deserve, or will fate and the meddling of Brooke’s father prove to much once again?
Although told from both perspectives, the author also had to write about the past which had shaped Spencer and Brooke’s present, this was melded together so well that I had no trouble following at all. My only concern was that one minute Spencer was bound and determined to exact revenge on Brooke and appeared to hate her with a passion and then the next he was back in love with her; it all seemed just a tad too hurried, but that is only my opinion.
I will admit that I would love to have my own Spencer Dean in my life and I was happy that he and Brooke were able to overcome the horrors of the past and look to a future together.
The characters were easy to relate to, not only the main characters but the supporting ones as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this extremely well written and entertaining story and I cannot wait for Cameron’s book in the Man Of The Month series.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second in the series, and I think it is shaping up very nicely! I definitely recommend that you read them in order, as it is a continuing story, with the spot light on different couples.

Here we find out what drove Brooke and Spencer apart, and now forced to work together on The Fix in a very public way, they finally get closure. Or at least that seems to be the original plan .... read more to find out just how Spencer's plans for revenge work out! It is a very enjoyable romantic read.

Alongside this, we catch up with the gang at the bar who are doing all they can to save it. There are some lovely snippets of Reece and Jenna from book 1 and some definite foreshadowing of future calendar men and their intended loves.

Really easy reading, super smooth writing style - so simple to just start and not stop till the very last page ... and the good news, only a couple of weeks till the next installment. I do like the format; long enough apart to read a few books in between, but soon enough that everyone is still in my head.

Hold on Tight is the second chance romance story of Brooke and Spencer. They were together a few years back, engaged to be married, until she left him at the altar. Brooke has carried around her reasons why for years, all while still deeply in love with Spencer, knowing he didn’t quite feel the same.

Years later, they are brought back together to work on a reality TV show where they will be fixing up The Fix, the bar mentioned in the first Man of the Month book, Down on Me.

This is a very short story where a lot of the story is told about the past of Brooke and Spencer. Even with that being said, there is more than enough to clue you in as to their past relationship and why they are at the place they are now.

I enjoyed the book overall but I did feel that they hated each other one minute and then next, everything was good. I also felt that Spencer came on a little too strong at the one point of the story and that Brooke was a little too timid for my liking at the beginning, but she definitely came into her own by the end of the story.

All in all, it was a good book and I look forward to book #3 in the series.

(4 stars)

Book two in the Man of the Month series, and we are on to Mr. February. With the idea of saving the bar going strong, a reality home improvement show was called, and they bring in bad boy Spencer. Spencer has a bit of a callous attitude toward women, with a bit of good reason; his fiancé left him right before the wedding. Now he is being forced to work with her on the rehab of the bar. Brooke had her reasons for breaking off her engagement, even if it pretty much killed her to do it. Being back in the same place as Spencer is proving to be harder than she thought it would be, it has been five years. When the same sparks and feelings fly, the two start to navigate a tricky path. Can Spencer trust Brooke again? Will Brooke own up to her reasons?

So I felt like book two should have been longer, there was so much story to be had that it feels super rushed. Once again a whole lot of characters introduced that could have been in book one but TBH I couldn't remember. With lots of drama, some steamy sexy times, this gets 4 stars.

I am loving the Man of the Month series. I just love series that just connects your mind, body and soul mind leaves you with a big smile and satisfied look. J. Kenner just writes romances with steam and emotion that you are captured. Hold on Tight is the second book in the Man of the Month series and I was clearly charmed by the sweet and sexy read that catapulted my soul. Hold on Tight is a superb second chance romance that deeply wrenches your heart. It is also a sexy romance with a magnificent plot that will make you devour this book.

J. Kenner writes the most amazing plots in her book to the point they take up your heart and own you. Spencer and Brooke are touching couple. Their love spanned 5 years but you could feel all the emotions palpating between them and all you want to give them hug. You will also get to meet secondary characters that you just want to be friends with and have a drink with.

The Man of Month series is definitely elevating to hot and sultry read. I cannot wait for more.
