Arkansas Divers Conclude Competition In Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Arkansas divers wrapped up competition from Tennessee Diving Invite with the platform event on Thursday morning.

Sophomore Molly Harvie was the Arkansas’ top diver of the day with an 18th-place finish (200.40), finishing just 0.70 from tying her lifetime best in the event. She got out to a promising start, tying for fourth after her initial dive of 50.40. Unfortunately for Harvie, her opening dive was her best of the event and the only one earning over 45 points. She held firm in the top 12 through three dives before settling in her final spot.

Two other Arkansas diver competed on day three of the invite, as Wednesday’s one-meter champion Nicole Gillis and Sam Nelson both sat out. Marissa Green fluctuated in the middle of the pack, moving up to as high as 16th place before capping off her week in 23rd (188.90) in the platform. Caroline Welch remained in the mid-30’s all event long, finishing in 37th with a score of 143.40.

Of the 36 total women’s finalist over the three-day invite, 33 were from the Southeastern Conference, as 10 of 12 platform finalists were from the SEC.

The head-to-head diving scores for Arkansas and Georgia will count toward their overall dual meet score that takes place this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia.
