Those who want to finish off the storylines introduced by Mass Effect: Andromeda will get to do so, but a novel will have to suffice.

Mass Effect: Annihilation, by Catherynne M. Valente, has been announced and given a publication date of June 26, 2018 in North America and the U.K., Australia on Aug. 28, 2018. Titan Books is the publisher.

Mass Effect: Anihilation will resolve what happened aboard the Quarian ark Keelah Si’yah, which was introduced in Andromeda.

According to the novel’s description, it will chronicle the journey of the Keelah Si’yah, which is carrying 20,000 drell, elcor, batarian and quarian colonists to Andromeda.

Mass Effect: Andromeda’s rocky launch, patch-filled post-release window and critically unimpressed reception put a chill on the franchise back in the spring. The developing studio, BioWare Montreal, was scaled down by Electronic Arts in reply and attention was shifted to other projects. That, plus reports that most of the game was finished in 18 months of development, probably nixed any hope of continuing the story through downloadable content.
