BL Berry grew up telling lies. Eventually, those lies turned into elaborate stories and when she grew older she started writing them down. When she’s not hiding behind her computer writing, you can find her spending time with her family or catching up on her favorite TV shows. Rumor has it she’ll sleep when she’s dead.

Residing outside of Kansas City, she lives with her husband, two children and black pug. Each day her family thanks the makers of e-Readers, because without which they would be living amongst stacks and stacks of romance novels. Conversely, each day B.L. Berry thanks the makers of e-Readers for hiding her book-hoarding tendencies.

Rib tickling romantic comedy which is like a breath of fresh air. I so needed to read this and laugh out real loud.
Henley and Jeff meet per chance in the airplane from Kansas to Denver and fate takes over. Jeff is a typical guy , awkwardly babbling in front of a pretty girl and this breaks the ice.

description
yeah, I’m kind of the master of fitting big things into tight spaces.” What the fuck kind of comment was that?
“You should see what I’m packing down below.”

They get together and ......
I'm not gonna tell you anything more.
Just that it's hilarious, its so wittily written , such smart , well researched writing. And it's very relatable. I found myself comparing to Henley when I was pregnant . Between all this fun and laughter is a very sweet , very sensible love story. They're head over heels in love and totally committed to work out any obsrtacles in their life , together !
where you walk, I walk ......remember

Hey, guys! I slipped and fell on Jeff’s dick, and his man seeds ended up inside my flower, and now I’m carrying his spawn.
“Let me tell you something … Whatever you have done to my little girl, I will personally do to you.”

description

what are routine situations and emotions of pregnancy are highlighted with Ms.Berry's no filter writing and sparkling humour . I laughed my way through the book, highlighted like crazy and will INSIST that you read this extremely enjoyable book and laugh your pretty asses off !!

"Out of all the women in the world and all the porn in existence, he chose to knock his rocks off to me. It was his subtle way of saying ‘you’re the only one.’ Now if that’s not love, I don’t know what is."

My goodness what a great book that is full of real life moments! Like seriously, things that have truly happened to each and every one of us. Things that you think could only happen to you and no one else…

Jeff and Henley meet on a flight after Jeff hit the snooze button one too many times and is running for the plane in hopes that the gate attendant will cut him some slack and not close the door on him! Having everyone already boarded the flight and seats full, he is left with one seat to sit in. Of course it’s the middle one!

Henley is a school teacher and Jeff is a software engineer who enjoys a good ole fashioned Kentucky Bourbon. (Describes my husband in real life to a T). Between the two, they make an awesome couple that handle everything in life like it’s a hurdle that only they’ve been allowed to take on.

This laugh out loud, full of quirky one liners was a non stop read for me!! I very rarely high light any passages in a book but this one…you will find yourself being a highlight queen! Birthquake is a book that needs to be enjoyed by all!!!

My favorite line in this book was…
Where you walk, I walk.
Such a true statement that should be said between all couples!!!

Genre: Romantic Comedy

You know those books that just make you feel good? The ones where you essentially become one with the characters? The ones that are down to earth and fun? Well, this is THAT book. I truly enjoyed escaping into Birthquake by B.L. Berry. I love a surprise pregnancy romance and this one really hit the spot. I'm glad I saw it while browsing my kindle unlimited recommendations. This is a book I certainly did not want to miss!

Birthquake is a really fun romantic comedy with hilarious humor and realistic characters. In the beginning, I didn't think I was going to like it because it seemed to skip time-wise: one moment it was when they met and the next they were in a committed relationship for months. However, I am glad I pushed through because this only takes part in the first couple of chapters in the book. You don't miss important plot points, and now that I think of it, it's actually a genius idea especially when you consider the major point of the story. So all in all, I think this was a wonderful idea and I suggest that you continue on even if your feeling like I did at the beginning.

With that, this is a book about Jeff and Henley who meet rather spontaneously on their flight. The two connect on a humerus level and make them seem fated from the start. So it makes perfect sense to see that these two love birds would drop the spanx and have a little fun at Jeff's brothers wedding. Too bad they were both hammered though because that is the night Henley gets knocked up.

The rest of the book takes readers on a journey with Henley and Jeff as they get ready for the birth of their baby (whom Jeff is convinced has a penis). It's lighthearted, hilarious, and such a fun pregnancy to follow. The secondary characters who play small roles in the novel make the book even better and add to the entertaining plot. Readers won't have a hard time connecting with any of them. In fact, I would LOVE to see a story about the secondary characters. I think it would make a great book.

If your looking for something fresh, fun, and ridiculously funny, grab a copy of B.L. Berry's latest release, Birthquake. It;s certainly a book you don't want to miss especially if you like novels about pregnancy and romance.

Hilarious, heartfelt, and amazing! I enjoy rom-coms, but I tend to sway toward the feels more than the laughs. This brilliant book has both in spades. Jeff and Henley are adorable and hilarious, with a palpable epic love between them. I laughed, I swooned, and most of all I fell in love with this beautifully written story about what really happens when you fall in love and baby makes three. 5+ stars!

This was my first BL Berry book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! There were so many laugh-out-loud moments that I was getting weird looks from strangers when I'd read this in public! This story is funny, sweet, sexy and at times, sad. This was a real story about the trials and tribulations of becoming parents!

I have had a good time reading this book,it was extremely sweet with some good humour thrown between the pages.

Henley and Jeff love story begins with a chance encounter on a plane, it is love at first sight and what happens next is history...I don't want to ruin this novel for you so I'll keep this short and I recommend it to all the people that want to read something funny and lovely without ant major drama.

Birthquake was the first book I've read written by this author but her writing was so nice I want to catch up with her previous works.

I'm a huge fan of BL Berry's writing. Love Nouveau was simply poetic and An Unforgivable Love Story blew my mind. But Berry has a way of tickling my funny bone on a daily basis so when I found out the queen of hilarious one-liners was writing a rom com I had the grabbiest of grabby hands. Lucky for me, I scored an early copy of Birthquake and I'm so happy I did.

As a mom of two, I related to every single second of this book, especially because the only fun part of being pregnant for me was peeing on the stick and then telling our families the good news. I loved that Berry was able to make me laugh even though I wanted to cry while I was experiencing many of the things Henley did over the course of her pregnancy. Jeff and Henley's awkward moments were not only priceless but totally heartwarming and while we're on the subject of Jeff...Hey, Dads! Forget about reading What to Expect When You're Expecting, I highly suggest you grab a copy of Birthquake and take some pointers from Jeff because he is THE MAN.

My cheeks still hurt from smiling and my belly still aches from laughing. This book had it all for me and then some, including one kick ass best friend that reminded me so much of the author herself, and an adorable ending that conspired with my ovaries to try for baby #3. For now, I'll stick to living vicariously through Henley and Jeff, and anytime I get an itch, I'll revisit this book to set my hormones back in check.

Thank you, Berry, for a hilarious story I won't soon forget. I really really hope to see more from these characters in the future.

This book has it all! Laughter, hilarity, love, some issues, sweet, and most of all everything! This is one book you don't want to miss! I laughed until I cried, I swooned because Jeff is everything, and I wished with all my heart I was best friends with Henley and Tara!!

I don't want to go too into detail about this book because I don't want to spoil one minute of it but gah!! I've read angsty and I've read the awesome romance that is BL Berry. But this romcom? It's so stinking great! It's different but that's what makes it what it is. Not only are you laughing but you're falling in love with Henley and Jeff and Tara and Cam. You're constantly wondering what Jeff will do next and how Henley will react. You'll wonder what Henley is going to get into with Tara. And honestly, you'll never look at Costco the same way again.

All in all, you'll love the shit out of thins book! You'll love the effort put in by BL because of her amazing ways to make you laugh but also make you smile. She'll make you fall in love and you'll not want to put the book down! Now I'm not a mother but I have a friend who is one. I've heard stories. And Ms. Berry did everything I've ever heard about. Motherhood may not be glamorous at all times and that's ok. What was showed was real. That life is real, love is real, and it's just real. Life may not always look pretty but really it is. The imperfections are what make it perfect. The laughter and the mess ups and the little moments that you catch! That's what life is all about!! ❤️

I adore BL Berry's other books, but this one was different--lighter, funny. I'd highlighted all these funny quotes I wanted to share and got all pumped when I hit "the end" to start plotting how to write my review...and then I flipped the page. And the note from the author changed everything about the book for me. What had been a cute read about an adorable couple in love turned into a period of reflection, and how desperately I needed someone to tell me I was okay. Post-partum controlled me for nearly a year, and it wasn't a pretty picture...and even worse, it was one I was afraid to share because I feared the repercussions of my honesty.

Throughout the book, I giggled and chortled, remembered life while pregnant, the insane fears I had about mucus plugs and episiotomies, thought about how hard things were after the baby arrived, and loved how fun she'd made this story. But the words that came after put the rest of the book in perspective.

The novel wasn't just about humorous antics; it was about the love and truth and desperate need for all women to have support in their lives when things get tough and our timeline is derailed. It was about reminding each other we're all flawed and existing behind a cloak of imperfection hoping we masked our insecurities when what we should be doing is protecting the women in our lives, supporting them, building them up. It was a gentle reminder of how delicate moms are because we face criticism in harsh reality where our actions dictate the future of the next generation. But the love of just one or two people telling us we're okay can spin things back in a positive direction and save us from ourselves.

This is a must read for anyone who has ever loved a pregnant woman or one with a child (adopted or biological) or been one of those herself. Find a Tara if you need one or be a Tara for someone else. But most importantly, know that you're amazing at this thing called motherhood. It takes a village--form your tribe.

5 stars!

Funny book, okay characters, plot was interesting, so why am I rating it so low?

In all honestly, all it takes is a small, minute information to completely derail my interest, and that's exactly what happened.
We have both the hero and heroine who in just a few chapters made me go , "aw both are super decent characters", then by chapter 4, they have a conversation about the dreaded number of sexual partners they've had, and imagine my surprise when the hero who I thought was not a manwhore, clumsy, and cute admits he's been with

So, there you have it, make of it what you will, but I'm taking my sulking a*s and hoping to move on from it asap.

B.L. Berry outdone herself with this book! The amount of times I've laughed so hard during it, gave me back aches for days (the good ones lol). It's not a story that I haven't heard before but it was so hysterically funny I can't explain.

It started very strong - loved 1st chapter (told from his POV).
But then it turned out to be not my kind of a heroine and not my art of humor.
Unfortunately.

SERIOUSLY! How have I not read B.L. Berry before? I'm in love, and honestly, I think I needed to shake my reading up a bit and try something different. Birthquake was so FULL of everything. Humor, romance, sweet and swoony, and a bit of real life thrown in. This story kept me on my toes the entire time. Definitely on my RomCom recommendation list.

I needed this kind of romantic comedy.

There's this scene that's literally stuck in my head. It was when Henley was in labour and Jeff was late to the hospital. That image of him casually pulling out the sandwich while Hen was just not having it and being told to get out of the room and eventually coming back with sandwich stuffed in his mouth and a pout. They were so adorable and funny.

Laugh and swoon...

This is a complete standalone.

We get a glimpse from Jeff's POV for the prologue and then it is continued in Henley's POV. I thought this book was a great combination of sweet and funny, with a little steamy mixed in. I loved that Jeff wasn't the typical alpha male but had more quirkiness, I found him to be very sweet. This book had a lot of actual laugh out loud moments and was even somewhat relatable throughout. Henley and Jeff are so adorable and an absolute perfect match.

I couldn't stop reading it and devoured it in a matter of hours.
Had all the elements I love. It was swoony, romantic, sexy and it made me laugh.
I loved how you could really feel the connection between two main characters.
It was so funny! I was laughing out loud and that is always a good sign. This was exactly what I needed.
This was my first read by this author and it certainly won't be my last.

What a fun and refreshing read! Birthquake was a heartfelt and hilarious take on relationships, pregnancy, and motherhood. Lots of us have been there, and I felt like high-fiving Henley as she went through her journey. Since I’m a labor and delivery nurse, Birthquake hit home for me in so many ways. Toward the end, I found myself saying, “I could labor the hell out of Henley—challenge accepted!” LOL! Must read mayhem, at your service!!!

This woman is an earthquake with a heartbeat and a smile capable of shifting the earth beneath your feet, but powerful enough to bring your whole world crumbling down. It absolutely terrifies me. And all I know is I want more of it.
Of her.

Guys. No, really, GUYS.

YOU. NEED. TO. READ. THIS. BOOK.

I’m not kidding; if you find a book that can make you cry with laughter, nod with acceptance and recognition, and ache with love and a little bit of Oh, FFS, then you shout about it from the rooftops.

So, this is me, on the metaphorical rooftop (because heights are a no from me), YELLING at you.

Birthquake is exactly what it says it is. A “romantic comedy of seismic proportions.” It’s sidesplittingly funny—Jeff and Henley’s meet-cute OMFG—and so freakin’ relatable that I was addicted. From page one.

This reading experience bounced between hilarity, feels and a bumpy trip down memory lane (let’s just say that freaking out during labor and trying to escape the birthing suite while demanding a twenty minute time out was not my finest hour) and I loved it. LOVED it.

Seriously. Jeff is the sweetest man. Weird, yes. Kind of goofy, sure. But just perfect? DEFINITELY. And Henley, lord help me, she was ME. Or any woman struggling with life and babies and ridiculous friends and family. Not to mention some of the harder, more jarring aspects of pregnancy and being a new mom.

Birthquake might be a seismic rom-com, but it’s also laced with truths and poignancy, and it’s absolutely wonderful because of it. I’m sure you’ll think so too.

And if you do… meet me on the rooftop. (It’s still a metaphor. I’m enamored with this book and author, but not enough to risk my life atop a high-rise. Or even a low-rise. Sorry.)

I mean, if Samuel L. Jackson told me to dress like a chicken, walk into a KFC and cry because everyone there was eating my babies, I would do it. Because he’s freakin’ Samuel L. Jackson.

I was this close to not finishing this book. When comes to comedy reads I have read better. When comes to accidental pregnancy books I have read better. When comes to books with no drama plot line where you depend on narrator character to like a book, yes you guess it I have read better books.

Me reading this was something like this

When I say better that is my subjective rate. Okay!
This was not a bad read, but it is not memorable read either.

Light read! More of a couple chuckel than LOL read. But I guess birth and pregnancy shouldn't really be that funny. Oh well....

As I never gave birth I can't say how real this book is. But sure looks scary.
I will count this as my horror week goodreads read.

Kudos to my mom, and all the moms out there. You are superheroes!

Birthquake is not your typical rom-com......and I say that in a good way. The story had such a different feel and flow to it, and I truly did love every minute of the story! I hadn't even finished reading one chapter and I think I laughed more in that time frame than I have on other rom-com stories. Not only did I laugh, but I cried at moments too. I think being a mom myself, I could relate to some of the thoughts and feelings that Henley felt over her pregnancy and birth. Being a mom is hard, and do we ever really know what we are doing? Henley was extremely lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive partner in Jeff. He did so many ridiculously cute and swoony things - seriously how can you not love that guy? By no means was he perfect, but then again nobody is. I loved how Henley and Jeff were just normal, everyday people......trying to make their way through love and life together. And what can I say about Henley's best friend Tara? Sign me up to have a friend like her!

I wish I could say more about this story, but I don't want to spoil things for anyone. This was just a fun, feel-good story, and I definitely will read it again!

This was more of a 4.5 star read than just a flat 4 stars and the only reason I didn't bump it up is because of slight disconnections I had with portions of the book. So these portions are very small, one being that I would have LOVED to hear more of Jeff's voice throughout the story. I believe the prologue is in Jeff's voice and I may even say it is what really hooked me into the book. Yes, I was hooked to this book about 15 pages in! I just knew that this was going to be a story that I was able to relate to on an emotional and realistic level.

This is the first book that I have read by B.L. Berry and I will venture out to read more of her work. It was laugh out loud hilarious, filled with realistic pregnancy moments, and heartfelt relationship moments that just tugged at my heart. I really, really, really enjoyed this book! I just wish that I had more than Henley's voice since this journey was really about both her and Jeff not just her journey and what she thought Jeff was going through. Now don't be mad that I have not went into the other disconnects because I think that everyone should read this book if they are looking for a funny, sexy, and sweet pregnancy and relationship story.

I love the fact that BL Berry has branched out in a different direction with her latest book, Birthquake. It’s a humorous take on the “oopsie daisy” mistake between Henley and Jeff, a couple in a fairly new relationship.
This book is a perfect combination of adorable and fun, along with some very funny situations. This isn’t a typical contemporary romance, as the reader is privy to their first introduction and then it fast forwards to a few months into their relationship. It was definitely a unique and creative way to see into the couple’s life.
And if you enjoy laugh-out-loud scenes, wait til you get to the wedding reception and the delivery room!
A quick and fun ride…Birthquake will leave you smiling.

I predict a birthquake up in here.......
Sorry couldn't resist that and yes I was singing it. In fact I don't think I can ever sing that again without changing earthquake to birthquake lol!!!!

Birthquake was the first full novel I have read by this author. I read her story in the mom fail anthology.

I absolutely loved Henley and Jeffs story, it was just so funny and beautiful at the same time. A wonderful story of the many many joys of pregnancy, including the not so joyful parts!!! Anyone that is a mother will be nodding their head with agreement.

I couldn't help myself I had to read parts to my husband, especially the breast pump part!! Moooooooooo!!!!!

Just a wonderful amusing read that will have you chuckling away so maybe don't read it in public or people will be giving you dodgy shifty looks!!!

One quote that really will stay with me "where you walk, I walk". Beautiful just beautiful.

This was humorous take on being pregnant and giving birth! As I do not have children myself, I found it to super funny (but I got way up close and too personal when my sister had my niece, which explains why I don't have kids myself). Many who have given birth will probably find this to be real!

Henley and Jeff met on a plane one early morning, and hit it off (although their meeting was a little awkward). They had been dating for a few months when Henley found out that she was pregnant. They both took it surprisingly well, but the adventure was just beginning. Over the next nine months, they got to experience many of pregnancy's ups and downs, with a whole lotta humor interjected!

BL Berry wrote one funny and real story about the trials and tribulations of a budding relationship, pregnancy, childbirth (or birthquakes), and the first few months after birth (or 4th trimester). This story was well-written, the characters and their thoughts were relateable, and mostly, just a fun read! This is a definitely a reread (and a book I will be recommending for all my friends with kids and who are expecting kids)!
