City Manager Jon Lynch, at Midland’s 11th Citizen’s Academy 10-week seminar, said he’s not one to make promises. But he did vow two things at the first meeting: attendees will learn something they previously did not know about Midland, and they’d have fun.

I joined the 2017 Citizen’s Academy, a group that includes employees at Northwood University and Delta College, retired teachers and engineers, some born and raised in Midland; others originally from New York, New Mexico, Kentucky and elsewhere, one man who has lived in Midland 70 years, and even a husband and wife, interested, as were many when asked why they signed up, in politics.
