No feelings.
No lies of calling the next day, and no empty promises of not banging anyone’s mother.
If I could act like I’ve never met a set of twins I screwed on the same night, thinking they were the same person, then I could do this.
It was the perfect set up for a fake relationship and it was simple.
We faked our smiles, we faked our laughs; hell, we even faked our love. It wasn’t real.
But that kiss was anything but fake, and the orgasm was anything but pretend.

Somehow my plus one had become more, and now I’m standing here with my underwear around my ankles wondering what in the hell to do next.

3,5 stars! Missy Blake aka M.N. Forgy tries her hand at comedy romance and doing well. After a much darker books Plus One is a light and funny story.

About the plot: Rae is left on the altar. Her fiance at the last moment changed his mind and ran off the church. What dumped in front of family and friends girl can do? Also escape as soon as possible. With the help comes ex-fiance friend, Max. He takes her away and they share one evening at inspiring talk.

When a year later they accidentally meet again and catching up, he came up with the brilliant idea to help each other by pretending relationship. They set the rules, but as it happens, things are getting messy.

Some thoughts: I enjoyed Max and Rae story and it quickly drew me in. It's entertaining, a little immature but easy to like a couple. They both get burned, and now none of them want to take a chance again. But when they spend time together, things happen beyond their willpower. And when it happen, their sexy moments are burning hot.

“His reef blue eyes find mine and I get lost in them. They’re so much more than just blue, they take me away and fuck me for days.”

For me, however, the whole show stole a best friend of the heroine, Quinn. Her texts are something else and I really would like to read her story. She amused me to tears, when she says things as:

“Girl, you couldn’t be more disappointed than a virgin going home solo on prom night”

Despite some mystery and a little twist, it's low on angst. Also has quite fast action. I just wish it was also more developed. Sometimes, some scenes could be extended rather than quickly changing. But it can also be an advantage, because there is not a moment of boredom.

Overall, it's perfect if you are looking for a light, funny, and smoking hot romcom. Maybe even reading for one evening if you read fast. I'm cheering for yet another romantic comedy of the author and I can't wait for Quinn's book.

A sweet and cute story of a fake relationship turned real!!! I honestly found this story very light on angst and very straightforward and predictable but enjoyable. I did enjoy the getting to know the Max and Rae but I just wished the author allowed more character developments like she has done previously with her MC books. And in such, she would allow readers to feel the friendship and chemistry between these two. Overall, this book is a light quick fun read!

I was looking forward to this book. I'm always intrigued when an author changes up their writing. With MN Forgy, writing as Missy Blake, stepping away from MCs and trying a contemporary romance I wondered if that same spark would be there.

Rae and Max meet on the day of Rae's wedding. She had just been dumped at the alter and was hoping to escape meddling family members by climbing through a window. Max, a friend of the groom, is there to help Rae escape. Fast forward a year and a coincidental meeting at a restaurant, these two agree to a fake relationship until Max's sister's wedding. You can guess how this works out.

PLUS ONE is a quick read and has some hot moments. But I needed more development between Max and Rae. Often times Max is standoffish with Rae, hoping like hell he doesn't break is own rules. On one hand, I could understand that. But it makes it hard to believe Rae could easily fall for this guy when he treats her the way he does, considering how she has as much emotional baggage when it comes to relationships as Max does.

The spark wasn't there for me in this title, but I look forward to seeing what Missy Blake may bring in the future.

Damn, this book catches you from start to finish. Rejected on the day of her wedding, one woman and one stranger cross paths that ripple into another unlikely encounter that changes the course of their entire lives. Set to start off a business relationship... and you know how those go....they never planned to fall in love. It was supposed to be something of convenience, to get their respective sides of their backs and jump on the horse again. And yet, it turned out to be something more.

I've been following author MN Forgy since the beginning and I was baffled with myself that I had missed the ARC sign ups for this read. Luckily for me though, Ms. Forgy was gracious to grant me a copy and I found myself for the most part, squandering away in my room, being a hermit, reading this. At one point, I did come out of my room when I mom had come over to visit and was in the midde of reading one of the dirty scenes and she noticed my face turn red. Nothing says embarassment and sexual mortification than your own mom pointing it out to you. hahahaha

Anyway, this is a quick and easy read that was a breath of fresh air and a sensual dirty pleasure. I'm really excited where this author is going to go next with her next works and hope that I don't accidently snooze on the next sign up!! lol *palms face embarassingly*

OMG I really loved this book! It was well written, hilarious and Max was over the top swoon worthy. If you like a great romcom, you have to read this book. Rae and Max have both been burned in the past by love. They are now similarly on a mission of partying and never letting another near their hearts. What starts as an arrangement with a mutual benefit of getting their families to stop setting them up on nightmare blind dates, quickly turns into something more.

I haven’t read anything from this author before, but will definitely have to now. I loved Rae! More often than not I tend to like the hero a lot more than the heroine. Not this time! I did love Max, but Rae really stole the show. She was hilarious, intelligent, confident, and could dish out the insults with the best of them.

Max, your typical alpha in a lot of ways, was also a romantic at heart. He just didn’t want anyone seeing his vulnerable side after being betrayed. I loved how protective and possessive he was of Rae. It was also refreshing that they didn’t fight their feelings for each other. They both just went with it. Awesome!

One of the best scenes of the book was when Rae’s best friend Quinn pepper sprayed Rae’s ex, and while he was rolling around on the ground in agony Rae granny style beat him with her purse. Hilarious!

This is going on my favorites list for sure!

HEA, duel POV, no cheating (not with the H and h anyway), no triggers.

Plus One was a really cute story. From the moment I met Rae, I liked her. She was easy to relate to and connect with. She did have some bitchy moments, but overall, was a pretty cool chick. When we first meet up with Rae, she’s had her heart broken on her wedding day. She runs into Max in an attempt to flee her devastating situation and he gives her the courage to get past her heartbreak. Now, a year later, Rae is partying it up like a teenager. She is living her life the way she wants and doesn’t want to have any regrets. The only problem, her family is desperate for her to move on. Max was devastated when he found out his fiancee cheated on him, so like Rae, he’s just been living it up for the past year. The last thing he expected was to run into Rae again. Even more unexpected to find himself in a “made up” relationship with her. What seemed like a good idea to get their families off their backs, quickly becomes confused. Lines become blurred and feelings come into play. Will Rae and Max get the happily ever after that they deserve? There is only one way to find out.

Overall, I found Plus One to be a fun and entertaining read. The characters were easy to connect with and had me wanting to know more. I felt terrible for our main characters and found myself rooting for them to find their happily ever after. I thought that Rae and Max had great chemistry and I liked the pull they had towards each other.

Plus One is a great fake relationship/second chance romance and just an overall cute read.

I wasn't sure how this would turn out to be. I've really enjoyed M.N Forgy's books but they've all been darker MC books. So I was a little nervous to jump into a book by her fun alter ego, Missy Blake, because it was just so different than what I'm used to. And honestly, sometimes it doesn't work out that well. I can happily say that isn't the truth here. I thought this was a great debut of a lighter contemporary romance.

Rae has spent the past year swearing off men since her past relationship. She's focusing on working and partying with her BFF. When she runs into the man who helped saved her on one of the most difficult time unexpectedly, things take an interesting turn.

Max's mother has been setting him up with date after date that all end in disaster. As his sister's wedding approaches he's told to bring a plus one or he will be set up again. When he runs into the beautiful woman he helped a year ago, the perfect plan comes together. He asks her to be in a fake relationship. No strings attach and a one month limit. Get through the wedding and then they break it off. Easy enough, right?

As Rae and Max spend time during their fake relationships, the chemistry is explosive. They've promised each other they would adhere to the rules, which is to protect them from wanting a relationship and falling for each other. As time goes on, the struggle is becoming more real. Will they be able to resist this pull and follow through with their original plan or will their attraction take them to the one place they promised they wouldn't go?

I thought this was a fun book. Sure, we've read the fake relationship turns to true love story but Missy Blake is able to suck you into the story and keep you wrapped up in it, causing you to not be able to put the book down. Well, that happened for me at least. I think the banter between Rae and Max was super fun and kept me laughing. There are also a few twists in there that throw a little dab of angst.

Rae is fun, witty and full of life. I like that she has figured out just to be herself and she really doesn't care what anyone else thinks. She's carefree for the most part and truly just wants to live life. She can also banter with the best of them and she never lets Max get away with anything.

Max is a mix of brooding alpha and fun loving guy, which I think it just perfect. He's charismatic and you can tell that he is very loyal to those that he loves. And once you see his vulnerable side, your heart will melt. He also has a deliciously filthy mouth that set my body on fire.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It it is well written with an easy flow that will make you laugh, melt your heart and clinch your thighs.

What a fun and sexy rom-com from an author who usually writes biker books and romances full of rough guys and even tougher chicks.
I laughed and got mad at a certain jerk of a groom and all of the crazy antics that followed with best friends, and siblings and hard-to-please moms. What a wild ride this book was but I just knew that through all the protesting and games and "fake" relationship stuff, that Rae and Max would get their acts together and figure out what we the readers knew all along.
A super hilarious and touching story of making mistakes, not living with regret and finding the right one to be your 'forever after'.

This was a nice and easy read. It starts off with every person's worst nightmare, and the female MC Rae, is hit with a dose of reality. This lady was one hot mess and being the black sheep just added to her woes. Then there's Max, the hero. He was dealing with his own issues but was so understanding and supportive. The two of them going into an agreement to have a fake relationship so they can get their parents off their backs. They even write down a set of rules and believe this will ensure nothing of a romantic happens. And as you can imagine, nothing goes according to plan. There were times when I didn't understand how things escalated so quickly but overall it was an enjoyable read.

“I bring a whole new meaning to banana hammock, baby”.

Who would’ve thought that a jilted bride and a commitment phobe architect would make me fall in love with them so hard. They were passionate, downright hilarious and just one of those couples that you would generally root for in achieving their own happiness. What started off as a lie, soon turned into something neither of them ever expected.

Every girl dreams of having marrying the perfect guy and having the perfect wedding. For Rae, she thinks she’s one step closer to achieving her dream and reaching those few steps, her world was about to turn upside down. And not in the good way. What’s a girl to do when you’ve been embarrassed on your special day? You run away with a complete stranger’s help.

Now one year later, Rae is still guarding her heart and trying to pick up the pieces of her broken life. Tired of being set up on horrible dates by her meddling mother, Rae decides that a little white lie can do no harm and in order to keep her sanity, it must be done. Running into the stranger from a year ago, Rae’s little fib, is about to come full circle and who would’ve known that their lie would ultimately be their very own truth?

Max is a successful confident man who has no problem getting laid. Having his pick of any woman that he wants during the week, Max is certainly not hurting in the hook up department. But his mother is not a fan of his extracurricular activities and with the rate he’s going, she’s going to be a grandmother at one hundred. Trying his best not upset her, Max tells his mother that he’s officially off the market. What’s the worst that could happen with that lie right?

Deciding to start their fake romance, Max and Rae embark on an romance filled with rules that they have no plans on breaking. But you know what they say about rules right? They’re obviously meant to be broken. Two single people that had their heart broken in the past and aren’t looking for any type of commitment. You know what that gets you? HOT STEAMY DRAMA.

I will admit that I was worried about how this story was going to go and I’m happy to say it turned out even better than I expected! I loved Max and Rae’s interactions with each other and how they managed to find the humor in their situation. And let’s not forget the hot as hell attraction that these two had!! I loved every minute of it. If you’re looking for a sexy friends to lovers fake romance, then this one has your name on it.

Plus One was hilarious, it was sexy and it was one I absolutely loved! I must admit I do love the fake relationship romances because you just know that the fake part never lasts and all that leads up to that point will be entertaining. Plus One does all of that and more. Who wouldn’t want to get their family off their backs about settling down and being in a relationship? I know I would especially if I had the mothers that Rae and Max have.

Rae, after her ex walks out on her on her wedding day has sworn off relationships, she also takes her partying to extremes at times but I would be the same way if that had happened to me. Max helps her escape the wedding to get away from everyone who just witnessed her embarrassment.

Max needs a plus one for his sister’s wedding or his mother will find one for him. When he bumps into Rae again he brings up the whole fake dating thing and the plan begins. Watching these two fake date is hilarious at times and you can feel the sexual tension between the two of them. Now Max, my man Max, you do a real asshole move but I forgive you and love you once more.

Missy Blake, or M.N. Forgy as I know her as has shown that she can write different genres and can kick ass with whatever she decides to write. I am looking forward to reading more from the lighter and funnier Missy Blake because Plus One is not only a book that this book whore highly recommends, but one that I will be reading again and very soon.

Cute, funny and a great read!

If you're looking for a cute, funny and sexy book look no further. Plus One is all that and more. Missy Blake did a fantastic job with this, I couldn't put it down.

When Rae was stood up at the alter she did what any other jilted bride would do... she ran. And who other to run with but a handsome stranger. A year later and she even though over her ex she still has her heart guarded. She is tired of her mother and her set ups so she does the only thing she can... puts herself in a fake relationship.

Max is in the same boat. With his mother driving him crazy by trying to set him up with countless women he has to find a solution. Bumping into the woman who he helped escape her wedding a year ago, he knows there is only one way and she could be the key.

Fake relationship, banana underwear and some whole hearted fun brings these two together. I really enjoyed their story, it's cute, funny and there is even a surprise thrown in there. Missy's writing is wonderful and the story will keep you entertained. If your looking for a light-hearted fun book, this is for you.

Looking for something light-hearted with the right amount of drama exactly where you need it? Plus One by M.N. Forgy writing as Missy Blake is a romantic comedy that will surely take the cake!

Max, the guy with his backwards wearing hat ways and banana boxers that will give every woman something to smile about steals the show completely. The spark between him and Rae is felt instantly, providing more than enough giggles to make you question your own sanity.

Missy, or M just has a way with words. Whether it's writing about the dark and gritty life of her MC boys, ways of one prostitute turned escort with a past that clashes with her present, or creating something new and refreshing that touches the fluffy side of you, the growth in her craft cannot be ignored.

A disaster wedding that doesn't actually happen filled with heartache, one bride and her cake face, and an escape with the runaway groom's estranged bestfriend, Plus One is the perfect set up for laughs, angst, and chemistry that cannot be faked!

Rae and Max may be each other's plus one, but their relationship is nothing more than a business transaction...one with strict rules and boundaries that cannot be broken because they refuse to put their hearts on the line after "unfucking" themselves from the betrayal of their previous relationship.

A year after her almost wedding, Rae finally has her life back, and even if she parties a bit too much, she's living on her own terms, remaining emotionally unavailable despite her mother's wish for Rae to settle down with a good man.

Max also has his mother to contend with when it comes to bringing a Date to his sister's wedding, and he refuses to be set-up again or bring one of the many disposal women he's used for a night of sex, so when Rae comes back into his life, they embark on a fake relationship and work to sell their newfound feelings to the people who matter to them the most.

But what happens when Max and Rae have a hard time discerning between what's real and what's not and when lines are crossed and rules are broken, what does it mean for two people who never thought they'd find themselves wanting to risk their hearts again, especially when they started out as a fabricated couple.

I love that MN Forgy ventured away from her dark and gritty worlds and brought her readers a fun and steamy romantic comedy. Getting Plus One from both Rae and Max's point of view allows readers to understand their perceptions on what's real and fake in the time they spend together, and while both are clearly afraid to turn their fictional romance into a real one, it's also clear that there's something between that will become too difficult to deny.

Rae and Max's story is a quick read with likable characters, unpredictable moments, and a supporting character who deserves her own story, which is where I hope Missy Blake ventures next!

Okay. Where do I begin?

This book is super heartwarming. It’s about Max and Rae — two people coming from really bad relationships who have a pact to be in a fake relationship together to appease their mothers. Along the way, they actually fall in love. I appreciate Rae’s spunky personality, her relatability, and her determination to not give a crap what others think. My favourite line by her was: “I haven’t given two shits what anyone has thought about me for so long that actually caring is exhausting.” I also loved Max’s positivity and zest for life. I liked how warm and funny and fast-paced the novel was.

Nonetheless, so so many issues arose. Here are just a couple tropes I really need contemporary romance authors to throw out the damn window:

(1) Possessive male lovers. NOTHING is attractive about a love interest that punches men who like you, that force you to kiss them, that don’t give you space, etc. THAT IS NOT CUTE. Here’s an example from this book:

”He grabs the nape of my neck and forces me to him. Our lips smash together to make one.”
————————————————————————

“What do you want from me?” she whispers. I lean in, my mouth brushing against hers. “To kiss me,” I mumble. “To continue to break the rules and know from here on out this is as real as it gets, Rae. I love you, and if you run… I’ll just chase you.”
————————————————————————

Really? Gross.

(2) A super super fast relationship. These were FAKE DATING for max of 3 weeks, decided they were in love? Can I just have more of a slow burn, please? A more realistic timeline? Some actual conflict?

(3) So much damn crying.

I think this book did well for what it aimed to do. It made me chuckle and it was a fun, quick read. I would’ve just liked a bit more depth.

Is that too much to ask for?

Review of Plus One by M.N. Forgy, Missy Blake

Review done for Hooked on Books & CherryOBlossoms Promotions

4 out of 5 stars

Rae has sworn off men. They aren’t good for anything. Her bad attitude towards men comes from her fiancé leaving her at the altar. Not even her ex’s gorgeous friend can change her mind; even if he does make her girly parts tingle.

Max has had his own share of heartbreak from an ex. He vows never to get involved too deeply again. But when he runs into the beautiful bride he helped escape from her disaster of a wedding, he can’t help but notice the attraction he has to her.

When Max and Rae concoct a plan to pretend to be a couple to get their moms off their backs, they find it is harder than they thought to keep their feelings and attraction to each other off the table. The more time they spend together, the deeper their feelings become.

This was a great story. Even though it was sad for both characters, there were a lot of comical and very sexy moments in the book.

I recommend this book to read.

Plus One is a super cute RomCom, fun and sexy!
After Rae is left at the altar, she decides to go out and live her own life, have some fun and do the things that make her happy. She is being worn down by her mom trying to fix her up and set her up. She would rather keep her heart protected and avoid relationships.

“I’ve got to stop buying into this cliché idea that true love exists,” I mutter under my breath. Max whips his head my way, forehead wrinkled like he’s intrigued. “I’m setting myself up for heartache because I’m always looking for something that’s not there,” I continue.
“What, like Prince Charming?” Max shrugs with a look of amusement.
“Exactly,” I point at him. He shakes his head.
“Why would you want Prince Charming when you could have Superman?”

Since Max is tired of his family pressuring him to find Ms. Right and settle down, Max and Rae decide to "fake" a relationship. Which is a great idea...until it isn't just fun and games.

"It wasn’t until Rae walking into my construction site and turned my life upside down that I realized I wasn’t really living at all. "

Plus One is so different from the M.N. Forgy books that I've read and loved. With none of the MC roughness and edginess, the author showed me that she has a soft side and I loved seeing it! Whether she signs it M.N. or Missy, count me in, I'm reading it!

If you're looking for a fun, sexy, humorous romp... then look no further. Plus One is a nice romantic comedy, that had me giggling from the second page. Missy Blake aka M.N. Forgy always deliver's and it was nice to see her plunge into the rom-com genre.

Max and Rae are living the same lifestyle. Both have been burned from previous relationship's along with having their mother's on their asses to settle down. So, they strike up a deal. Date each other for a short period of time and then move on. But... it's never that easy!

Enter the sexy scenes...oh Max! The one word that comes to my mind about him, he's a charmer. Between being swooned and laughing my ass off this book easily deserved a 4 star rating.

Just loved this story!
When I started it I thought this was a completely different thing, I had to read the blurb again and then I understood! Duhh me!

Max is to swooning for! All male, sexy and charming, he got to me as easily as he got to Rae!
Their beginning is nothing but funny but then as they start to develop feelings for each other, the rules keep them ruled. And frustrated. And sexuality deprived....

There's a little bit of angst to the end, but Max deal with it like a champ!

This book is very entertaining and funny, a good choice for when you need a charming and light read.

"You asshole!" Quinn throws her bouquet at him, missing and hitting my grandmother right in the face.
"Oh shit! I'm so sorry, Mama," Quinn rushes over to grandma to help untangle the flowers from her gray hair.

(I laughed so hard. We all need a Quinn in our life, but keep her away from poor old ladies. ^^)

Plus One was a truly funny and hot as hell rom com with a fake-relationship trope, so consider me happy. I really enjoyed this book even if I keep thinking the cover is ridiculous (in a good way). I was hooked from the very beginning and absolutely loved the Max and Rae (and Quinn!) - they were immature and weirdly that made me love them even more.
It was pretty clear from the start that Plus One wouldn't be the book of the year but I had fun and it was all I needed at the time. So if you're searching for a quick, light, and entertaining romance I guess you just found it.

Normally M.N. Forgy is a darker MC author and I LOVE her writing as that. But as Missy Blake writing a romcom? It was amazing!!

Rae gets left at the altar and she is convinced that life as she knows it has ended. She runs into a friend (Max) of her ex- fiancee who helps her escape and breathe a little.

Fast forward and Rae and Max run into each other again and are in need of each other, at least for their families' sake. They need to have a "relationship" so each of their mother's stop setting them up. And we all know how those work out....

This was a funny break from the dark, gritty MC books of her usual repertoire. Rae is easy to identify with and you are really pulling for her and Max.

Loved this book.

I really enjoyed this book. These characters were awesome and hilarious. The sarcasm and joking and just plain craziness had me LOL. And when Quinn broke out the mace.....O. M. G. I was dying laughing. I really enjoyed the storyline and the writing was great. I'm so glad we didn't have to wait chapters for Rae and Max to get it together towards the end. I prefer quick problem resolutions. Great read!!

Absolutely Amazeballs good! I am in love with Rae and Max. I loved the banter and sass, and busted out laughing at regular intervals Max helps Rae run away from her wedding and one year later asks he asks Rae to be her plus one for his sister's wedding. The ground rules are laid out, but can they stick to them. Is everyone's motive on track, you will have to read to find out. I loved it. please keep writing in this genre as well!

I killed this book in 3 hours and I loved every second of it!!.
This was so out of the box for M.N Forgy but I'm so very happy she stepped out of that box and wrote Plus One.
Max and Rae are perfect, hell the entire book is perfect!.
By far one of my top 10 favorite reads.
Thank you so very much Mrs. Forgy!.
