You must read the previous books in the following order before reading AWAKEN: BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS, LUCID, DESTINY and DESIRE. There is also a novella prequel, ETHAN, that can be read at any point, but is best read after BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS. The book is meant for upper YA readers.
