T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a eight-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls ‘wrong side of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

Way too short! But awesome anyway.

The book was great, like all the others in the series. However it was too short and not as steamy as the rest. Though it is marketed as a novella, so we really shouldn’t complain about it beings too short. It did serve its purpose in getting me all in and completely exited for the next few books, which will be going back to the formula from the beginning with a two books on the character of Pike, who was introduced in the book N9ne.

Frankly I don’t remember pike, so before the next book comes out in March I will reread N9ne. I loved it so it won’t be a problem. Forgetting is a problem when you start to get older, plus I read nearly 500 books last year so That makes it hard too. Though I did remember enough about the early books for this one to be no problem.

It starts off with Ray (a.k.a. Doe), pregnant with a new baby. Her and King already have three kids, Max who is King’s daughter who was in foster care when King got out of prison, but Ray has since adopted, Sammy, who Ray had at fifteen and Nicole Grace the toddler (Named Grace for the older woman who took young King, Preppy and Bear under her wing and has since died).

Ray has something going on with her that she is not talking about, and King is upset that she isn’t talking. She is less than a month from giving birth and a hurricane is nearing Florida. Also King had a shipment of cocaine ripped off by someone claiming to be the new King of the causeway. Since this is a novella, I don’t want to give any more away than that, but I will say that the gang is back for this book.

Preppy plays a big role in the book, and I am completely in love with him. He is hilarious as ever. N9ne makes a few small appearances and Bear is included also. Bear and Prep argue as much as ever, and King is a badass as always. Preppy and Dre have their son Bo, who is so like Preppy despite being adopted and they also have twin girls, Taylor and Miley.

“How will the people we killin’ going to know it’s a killin’ shed if there’s no sign?”
“They will know, and so will the cops,” Bear points out, dropping his bag at his feet.
Preppy pointing to the sign. “No, they would never think that a place with a sign that says killin’ shed is an actual killin’ shed. Duh, Bear, it’s common reverse psychology. Or don’t you have books at your big bad biker playhouse?”
“Clubhouse,” Bear growls.

This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, which is expected since it is setting up the next book. To be continued.... 😉

If you're a fan of the King series as much as I am, you do not want to miss this trip back into their world. I got a chance to revisit some of my favorite characters and see what they've been up to since the last time I've seen them. Getting inside King's head... such a freaking treat! His love for his Doe and hers for him hadn't faded one bit. If anything, it shone brighter.

"When you're feeling weak, I'll be strong for you. If you can't see, I'll be your eyes. If you can't hear, I'll guide you." - King to Ray

I don't even know where to begin in order to explain my devotion to King. He was one of my first loves when I found love for the romance genre. His tattoos, his broodiness, his alphaholeness, his beauty... literally his everything drew me to him. Like a moth to a flame, I can't help but to keep coming back for more (at least when Frazier provides the opportunity).

It's possible to be a bad boy yet a great man.

This book had almost everyone from the series doing a pop in. Some stayed even longer. You all know I'm BOWTIE TIL I DIE and I was beyond thankful to get my Preppy fix. He was just as crazy and ridiculous and hilarious and glorious as always. I'm so in love with the dude.

The suspenseful parts were equal parts too short and so good. I wanted it to play out more than it did.

Again, if you love these people as much as I do, you'll want to read this novella.

It was a short novela, but it served the purpose to make me miss the original gang...

I loved King and Ray since their first encounter!
I've missed the craziness in every single word that left Preppy's mouth.
And I've missed Bear bickering with him like an old cat lady.

So many things happens in this book for a really short story, but I loved how Ray defended Max with her own life!
It just showed how powerful their chosen family had become!

Since this one was my last book left into the King's world, I'll miss them!

I need new TM Frazier's books, because I've literally finished ALL of her books!
Still can't pick a favorite!

"King - Er wird dich beschützen" ist chronologisch gesehen Band 9,50 der "KING" Reihe von Autorin T. M. Frazier.

Was mir gut gefällt:

Was mir nicht so gut gefällt:
Die Geschichte ist vermutlich nicht besonders realistisch. Das bin ich von der Reihe aber schon gewöhnt.

Von mir gibt es 5 Sterne und eine klare Leseempfehlung an alle Fans der Reihe. Als Stand-alone kann ich die Geschichte allerdings nicht unbedingt empfehlen.

Hier noch ein paar Infos zum Hörbuch:
2 Stunden und 55 Minuten / Ungekürzte Ausgabe
Sprecher: Eni Winter & Martin Bross

King y Rey
Bear y Thia
Preppy y Dree

Preppy sigue siendo mi personaje favorito pero siento que la autora abusa de él i don´t like that

No pensaba leer el libro de Pike pero con ese final me intrigó y espero una historia mucho mejor que la de Nine que me decepcionó mucho.

It was cute. I definitely missed King, Preppy, Bear and their gang... 🔥

However, I missed King and Ray the most, but now that they finally back in my life, she's in bed rest and not allowed to have sex? AT ALL? SERIOUSLY...??? 😱😭

Can't wait for PIKE's book!!! 🙏😂💃

NOVELLA

4.5 FAMILY CROWNS

I absolutely love this world. LOVE. Bear, King, Preppy and the girls, although crazy and nothing like the people I know in real life, I love them and the family they have created.

This is one epic ride of crazy from the very beginning, but I did love that we got to see all members of the family. We got to see them support each other and the real love of a family. I fell more in love with this whole crew, and I’m so excited for PIKE.

The love between King and Pup was more real then ever before in this book. Pup grapples with some real issues, and King’s way of supporting her is the stuff of dreams. Not because it is romantic, but because this is how a real man should support his woman.

And that ending! Omg! Could it have been more perfect for them. No, it really couldn’t. King, even being the most dangerous man, can pull out all the romantic stops and I love him.

I do wish we would have gotten a bit more of the danger to King and Logan Beach, but it appears that story will be coming with Pike’s book.

I truly hope TM Frazier never plans to leave this world, because I know I’ll never get enough of them.

Why wasn’t this a full length novel?? One the cover is stupid pretty. And the drama going on in Logan’s beach mixed with all that’s going down with Ray, and the mystery of a certain bitchy mom makes for this to be an epic full length tale. I want more damn it. And I’m salty it was over so soon.

King of the Causeway was a follow up novella as part of the King series by TM Frazier. It definitely should not be read as a stand-alone and needs to be read in order.

I loved the introduction by Preppy. I wish all series books had a quick and humorous introduction. Since it had been awhile, it totally caught me up to where I needed to be to fully enjoy King of the Causeway. And then I loved it.

Frazier gave us the fun camaraderie from our favorites mixed with a new generation of kids and then a splash of suspense combined with the typical violence expected in the series. I loved the loyalty. It’s raw, real and addictive.

Frazier also set up the next story, Pike. I loved every quick word and totally can’t wait for more!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh how I have missed the crew. I love all of them!!

Now, everyone who knows me knows that Preppy is my absolute favorite but the love that King and Pup have makes me hopeful. Those two can mend a broken soul

“When you’re feeling weak, I’ll be strong for you. If you can’t see, I’ll be your eyes. If you can’t hear, I’ll guide you. We’re only weak when we’re not a team. Together? We’re un-fucking-stoppable.”

I am so ready for more!!!!

I have to borrow a line from my favorite character in the whole wide world, Preppy, when I say that this novella was "like Christmas but better and without all the kinky sex." T.M. Frazier's books ALWAYS feel like Christmas to me. Nobody does heart-racing romantic susupense, spide-splitting dark humor, badass heroines, or tattooed antiheroes with hearts of gold quiet like this woman. Unfortunately, just like Christmas, they have to come to an end. If anybody needs me, I'll just be over counting the days until Pike comes out.

It's no secret that the King series is one of my all time favorite series. I love the alpha heroes, their broody demeanor, the way they posses those they love, and the way the rule the town. King of the Causeway is an extension of King and Doe's story (the first two books in the series). And while I wish it were longer because I missed them so much, this novella was perfection as it is. Not only does T.M. Frazier highlight mental heath issues that woman face (postpartum depression) but she highlights true, all consuming love and fierceness. Gosh I swooned for King and his queen.

If you haven't read King you MUST read that one (along with Tyrant) prior to this one. I personally recommend reading the entire series in order (including each of the spin-offs) but to fully understand KOTC you only really need King and Tyrant. Be aware though that characters from previous books; like Preppy and Bear, do make appearances here.

Ahhhh!! King of the Causeway is the reason why I'm bleary eyed at 5am. I could not wait to read this King series novella. I have been a T.M. Frazier fan since DLOD. There is something about her writing that is on another level for me. For that reason I jumped on this novella ASAP. King and Doe were exceptional. Same level of devotion and sexiness from them both after being together for years. Frazier nailed them once again as only she can!

I loved this novella because it was more than just a catch up of King and Doe. There is a storm coming to Logan's Beach, literally and figuratively, and it's looking for  King. I loved this story! It was romantic and edgy with the darkness that comes with the King series. This story felt like a continuation from the last few books without missing a beat. Now I can't wait for Pike's book! 5 stars! ~Ratula

In case you missed my raving about this series, I adore it and once again it was wonderful to be back in the world of Logan’s Beach with all my favourites.

I loved that this book dealt with post-natal (also starting in pregnancy) depression and how it did, it was wonderfully handled and something that should be given page time and space in the world because it is only through discussing it and allowing people to realise that they are not alone it that things will start to change. I especially liked that the novel show it showed that it can happen with any pregnancy and no matter how happy (as in not wanting to change things about your life) in your situation that you are. I also loved that Frazier made this part of the story and not the whole story because I do think that sometimes women can minimise what they are feeling because it does not consume every moment but I think that this story showed that beautifully.

This book, this series, it is just perfect. I hope that T.M. Frazier never stops writing about these characters because I don’t think I will ever be ready to say goodbye.

5 stars for an incredible continuation of the characters that I know and love, but more than that, this story touches on the incredibly important topic of post-partum depression – something that needs to be discussed more and was dealt with wonderfully in this story.

The King series is one of the best series ever! I love the world build. Love King, Bear, Preppy, their wifes and kids. I still haven't connected with Nine and Pike (book yet to to released) but I don't want them alone from my devotion on this series!

King Of The Causeway gathers everyone to fight the storm (figuratively and literally) coming. Someone out there threatens to take over King and Logan Beach. King and Doe is threatened to the life they build. Doe, having one baby on the way has some 'hesitation' 'issues' related to herself not being same as she was when young. Love how King manages the situation to support his wife. Preppy, my favourite book character; is not far behind, offering his support as always.

This book is of novella length. It's short, perfect and enough. The trouble is not over. The darkness that have fallen should be explained in the next book. I can't wait!

Reading this book is just like coming home.

I didn’t realise how much I missed King and Doe!

Their love, chemistry and unlimited and unconditional protection of one another knew no bounds before. Now, it’s lethal.

Pup is epic and so bloody strong. I am in awe of the woman and mother she has become. You don’t want to mess with her!!!

King is just so damn alpha it makes me swoon. He’s grown more fierce through his love for his wife and kids and yet we see him grow even more in this novella where he realises that as much as he wants to, he can’t fix everything.

It was amazing to see all characters from Preppy and Doc, Bear and Thia and ALL of their children (special mention to Bo - such a mini-Preppy!) and I loved revisiting Logan’s Beach.

“How do I even begin to explain that in an attempt to not sink into the abyss growing in my brain I’ve been isolating myself. From my kids. From King. From life. Not physically, but emotionally. I’ve trapped myself in a panic room of my own making, terrified that if I open the door, my worst nightmares will be waiting for me on the other side. That over these past few months, I’ve frayed the chord that connects me with the ones I love. It’s kept the worry at bay, but it’s caused a different kind of pain that hasn’t allowed me any rest or feel any true happiness.”
- Ray

——

“You’ve lived. You’ve grown. It happens to everyone. Even me.
(…)
Don’t you see that? You’re so much more now. So much fucking more.”
- King

——

“it’s been like there’s this…this thing. This entity of hopelessness weaving its way inside my body, like a parasite, telling me that it’s impossible for me to be happy. Like at any second, all of this could go away. (…) I was walking around feeling nothing but worry or guilt every single second of the day and most of the night because I couldn’t sleep.”

I loved every book in the KING series, so I was extremely excited about this one, jumping in without reading the synopsis! If you’re like me and haven’t read books 1-9 in a long, long time, don’t worry! There’s a preface (told in Preppy’s voice) that will bring you up to speed and have you laughing hysterically!!! Preppy is still my favorite of any character I’ve ever met and literally had me laughing out loud (which is not something common for me)! Although he’s not the main character, IMO Preppy is the best part about KOTC!!! I LOVE PREPPY!!!

This wasn’t the most exciting book in the series, but I enjoyed getting back to King and Pup. Although they now have a full-size family and more adult issues to face, they are still as snarky, witty and sexy as ever!!!!

My only issue with this book is the editing. It’s obvious that this book has gone through a spellchecker, but there are lots of other errors a computer can’t catch. For example, there were a lot of commas where they were not needed, commas missing where they technically should have been, missing words and extra words. Sometimes the same word was capitalized in one place yet lowercase in another (for example, King is described 4 different ways: “Boss man”, “boss man”, “Boss-man” and “Boss-Man.”) There were also several careless mistakes, for example saying, ”He pushes up my dress,” on one page yet in the same scene saying, “He hovers over me and pops the button on my shorts,” . Luckily there wasn’t anything so bad that it detracted from how much I enjoyed this book!

Sorry I had to go with 3 1/2

This novella is an update on King and Pups life (book9.5 in the series). It is a lead into book ten, PIKE. Characters are great, especially fan favorite Preppy.

I was very pleased to see PPD addressed but would have like more development of treatment. My big issues with editing...typos annoy me especially at the beginning of the book. Rush editing perhaps. I don’t like giving spoilers but living near the Gulf of Mexico I found errors with bridges, car travel and hospital visits. You can read, ignore reality and enjoy catching up with your favorite Logan Beach family

King of the Causeway was a short novella that brings us back to the beginning with King and Doe. Now while I love the series I felt this novella was too short with to many events crammed in that made the story feel rushed and at times all over the place. While I appreciate the author's spotlight on Postpartum Depression I felt that it was handled to quickly, especially since we were told it had been a few years. For me the best parts of this novella was Preppy.

“We’re in this life together.”

King is back, baby! 4 stars

I love this series so much, and am super excited for any opportunity to revisit with these characters. So, I was thrilled when T.M. Frazier announced that she was writing a novella revisiting original series couple, King and Ray.

This book takes place after book #9 in the series, N9ne: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater, but you could safely read it after you’ve finished Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part Three, and there is a brief “intro-fucking-duction” provided by a series fave which will recap you on some of the details. But beware that this book will have spoilers if you haven’t read the earlier books.

Written in dual POV, this book catches us up with King and Ray years after they met. Now happily married with a growing family, they are just as mad for each other as always.

“Hey, Pup.” His voice is a deep bravado that tugs on every nerve-ending in my body. I thought it would fade over time, but it hasn’t. Every day with him only amplifies my feelings.
Heart and body.

But trouble is brewing for King and his wife. Not only is a hurricane bearing down on Logan’s Beach, but there’s a new player in town – one determined to take King’s crown, and they are not afraid to hit close to home in order to do it. King and Ray’s strength will be tested yet again as they go all out to defend what is theirs.

“I’m behind you. All the way. Always.”
King shakes his head and lifts my chin so my eyes meet his. “No, Pup, your place isn’t
behind me. It is, and has always been, beside me.”

There’s a bit of drama unfolding at home as well, and Frazier has given us surprising emotional depth with this story – one that I thought was beautifully expressed and that shows the incredible connection and deep love between these two amazing characters.

“When you’re felling weak, I’ll be strong for you. If you can’t see, I’ll be your eyes. If you can’t hear, I’ll guide you. We’re only weak when we’re not a team. Together? We’re un-fucking-stoppable.”
My heart constricts in my chest. “You take my breath away.”
King holds my gaze. “You are my fucking breath.”

*heart-clutching swooooooon!*

Of course, their family-of-the-heart are right there with them, and Preppy in particular is on freaking fire in this one. Rude, crude, and utterly hilarious, but with a huge heart as always, I love, love, love him! Honestly, I love the whole bunch, and I loved the opportunity to check in with them all - especially seeing them and their kids all together and watching as their brood expands.

There’s an epilogue which finishes off the story beautifully, and with trouble still brewing, it’s a great lead-in to Pike’s story coming soon.

Dramatic, emotional, sexy and intense, this is a great addition to the series.

4 stars.
