descriptionThis is actually a pretty cool cover in my opinion. It's a good representation of the story within. Good composition. The typography is eye-catching and interesting. I like the use of the tiny graphics with the tagline as well.description

descriptionUnfortunately, this one ended up just being OK for me. It started out promising but somewhere along the way it got WAY too convoluted and confusing. On top of that, the whole plot (as well as the characters) felt extremely underdeveloped. I didn't feel like we got enough background on the relationship between Jax and Amber making it hard to understand why he was so obsessed with her.

description

Not to mention Amber's actions were confusing, to say the least. One minute she is fighting Jax and repulsed by him the next she is getting turned on and feeling love for him. It gave me whiplash. The whole drug story felt underdeveloped as well. Amber's relationship with Xander felt underdeveloped. And don't even get me started on the ending...sigh.

Like I said it was just OK. The bones for a fantastic story were all there everything just needed to be fleshed out a whole lot more.description

This didn't do it for me. I've read better amnesia stories. Not enough info was given to really understand why Jax was doing what he was. It was an extreme move to marry some. Apparently there was some kind of financial advantage, but it wasn't clear why he and Amber had to be married for it to happen. Amber didn't question things enough and was way too passive. I didn't give a shit about Xander one way or the other since he had 2 seconds of page time. Seb was the only character I remotely liked. The twist at the end was not an enjoyable one. It made me hate Amber. I'm gonna pass on the next one.

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be loved, <-- I'm using that word loosely, by a sociopath? Look no further.

I have no idea how to review this book. I'm definitely conflicted, I closed the book with my hands clenched and a smirk on my face. The story plays out like a movie, a web of deceit and obsession. I could not put this book down. I would've like more mystery to Jaxon, but I think that maybe he was meant to scare, yet excite the reader. When everything surfaces, you'll be shaking your head, probably ready to throw your kindle. I certainly was. I mean, this man is as unpredictable as the weather. You see a little light, but then the power outage begins, again. The rug is pulled out from under you. Dark passion bleeds from the pages.

I can’t promise you that I’ll never hurt you because we both know that I will. It’s what I do. It’s who I am. What I can promise you is that I will kill anyone tries to come between us. I’ll keep you safe from my darkness.

Overall I loved the concept. The characters could've had a greater build-up, I wanted more emotion. There's few scenes that left me a bit confused. When I got to the end, I realized why. I need revenge. I can't wait to see how this story ends.

The story started really good. Intense and pretty dark, lots of questions that needed answers. Of course Jax was and a jerk who totally creeped me out. As the story goes, I started to dislike Amber, even though I felt sorry for her.

The story was confusing and there were way to many OTT situations that made me question the whole premise of the story. For instance - Amber went back to her house, without any thought that Jax would come for her?? That didn't make sense to me.

I am glad how the story ended, however, so I'm not sure if I'll continue on or not.

I am going through a number of reactions to this book..

But the one that tops the rest is sadness..

This was anything like I have ever read.

It reminded me of a short film I once watched, which was fantastic but I don't remember the name...
And of Nicole Kidman's movie Before I Go To Sleep.

My heart truly rooted for Amber..and I expected this book to have a resolved ending but..the ending was brutal and fantastic..and sad.

The supposed to be hero,Jax, is,well, insanely obsessed with the heroine,Amber, and the heroine's family is just another case of weird animals who want her to marry Jax to keep the family legacy and their lust for wealth going.. That whole thing was ten shades of messed up!

That really made me sad and angry..yes alot of sads today

I am sad about Xander and Seb.

This was my first book my K.H and it was somewhat impressive.

Now onto the douchebag that I can't make up my mind about..

The sexy (the book says, not me) and crazy Jax Ray..

He was, from the outside...

And from the inside..

He was truly scary. I have read like hundreds of books with mad heroes that were much much finer than Jax Ray..but..they somehow got reformed..this mofo is scary af!

Jax was a talented stalker, a preeminent researcher, and an assiduous huntsman

Amber...oh God..my head and heart still hurt. She was fantastically brave and I was just on the edge all the time..
What truly ripped me apart was how,in that specific scene, she just accepts it all..uff that was so so brutal..

Unfortunately, there was only one object that had ever kept his attention. Me.

But that epilogue's last lines gave me hope.. that was a nice touch, btw!

I’m an amnesiac brood mare who’s marrying a man with a plan that has nothing to do with love and everything to do with money.
That's poor Amber St George. She wakes up in a hospital with no recollection of her past and how she ended up there. By her bedside is her fiancé Dr.Jaxon Ray . He's loving and ferocious, tender and violent, attentive and abusive. She's struggling in the dark blankness of her mind and his bi-polar attitude doesn't help, in fact it confuses her further. He keeps her pumped full off his new development, a miracle vaccine-Centrifuge . It calms and makes her complacent . A false sense of Euphoria that she floats on , yet it doesn't help revive her memories.
Amnesia is not a barrier to my understanding of feelings; if anything, it’s heightened my perception since I have nothing else clouding my judgment. And, it’s my judgement that the man next to me is devoid of normal human emotion.
She grows increasingly suspicious of her fiancé, and she starts to piece together the bigger, more sinister bigger picture . It's a Devil's Plan involving her parents, her fiancé and since they're politically powerful & rich, all her escape avenues are blocked. Her uncle Charlie is the Black Sheep of the family, who helps her escape once, comes to the rescue again. His poem provides a trigger for her to jolt her memories together.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years Finds,
and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

it definitely jolts her into action and with the help of Sebastian turns the tables on the Evil Nexus.but here comes the twist , which left me a tad dissatisfied and hungry for more.
The story packed a powerful punch and was developing so well, till Kylie left us hanging . I cannot wait to read Exodus now!!!!

At this current moment in time this is a book that I can't finish with I might come back to it at some point. I'm torn between losing interest and the material in the book. On hold @ 29 %. This is me and not the book.

Well well well

I'd like to start out by saying that I was in a book slump until I read this book....

It is full of twists and turns, and it unfolds sort of slowly. You get some info, then a bit more, and then even more. I honestly can't even explain this story to you without ruining it. What I will say is that Jax really wants Amber. Once he gets her, he holds on tight. Really damn tight. This story is full of triggers. From the start to the finish, so I'd keep that in mind.

This story does end on a to be continued... I wouldn't say it's a cliffhanger, but there is definitely way more story to be told. If you're looking for romance... hmm this isn't really it. This is more of a psychological suspense with some heat, and less of a romance. Very well written and I can't wait to see what's next!

This was an all around ok read. The plot started out good, but ended ok. It got very confusing and choppy towards the end. The explanations was just underwhelming.
The sex was ok. Jax liked to arouse Amber in odd situations that, to me, just did nothing for the hot factor. Jax was just too abusive for me to appreciate any of their sex scenes together. It was like, uhh black eyes don't turn me on. Sorry.
Xander was extremely underdeveloped. You know he's a crucial part in Amber's life, but you basically see nothing beyond that.
What I did like was that almost everyday Amber woke up not knowing herself or what was going on and it was interesting to see how things would be explained that day. What lies would be told. And if certain people were really on her side.

Very enjoyable read. Keeps you guessing. Though I could have done w/o the sex. (don't send a mob after me ladies!) It actually took away from the thriller aspect... I think it would have given it more mystery or more suspense. You can't please everyone but I think some fade to black could have actually added to the reading experience. Seems everyone wants to throw sex in your face and that's fine if that's your thing But I don't think this story needed that. It was a great plot and story line It would have stood on its own. Still, a great read and I've pre-ordered the next book.

Amnesia by Kylie Hillman a fab four star read. This is the first book in the Centrifuge series, and it’s a great start it will keep you gripped from cover to cover. It’s a phycological thriller romance and its packed with things that will keep you wondering.
Dr. Jaxon Ray is a talented man, he is a talented neurosurgeon who is a loving fiancé to Amber St George, he has stayed by her bedside and tried to help her in the way he knowns best. He is loving and ferocious and try’s his hardest to make his fiancée remember who she is, he reminds her when she wakes up in the morning and when he gives her his special medicine. But he isn’t all he seems on the surface.
Amber St James wakes up one morning, and doesn’t remember everything that’s happened, she has a scar on her head and a fiancé telling her she was hit by a car on her way to meet the wedding planner. Ambers body is doing things that she doesn’t tell it to, and she has feelings that she can’t explain. When you have medically induced amnesia your life isn’t your own, is it? Will Amber be able to find herself? And will she find the truth about her life? When the one you are supposed to love is the one hurting you can you ever know the truth?
I have loved Kylie Hillman for a while and enjoyed the Black shamrocks series so much, this was different and brought a new edge to her writing, but a good edge. Can’t wait for book two to be released.

I've read previous books by this author and really enjoyed them. However I found the author took this book to another level. She totally messed with my head. I read this in one sitting and I'm sitting here wondering how I'm gonna put the words to give the book the review it deserves. I know I won't be able to do that so what I will say is if your looking for a psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns then go 1-click this gem. I honestly could not predict how this story was going to go. I was at the edge of my seat munching on chocolate addicted to this read.

Dr. Jaxon Ray is sick and twisted. He's also obsessed with Amber St. George and will do literally anything to have her for himself.

I would have loved to read more of why the main characters had such negative feelings towards each other. More of a back story and I'd be giving this book the full five stars. However it certainly deserves 4.5 stars. Looking forward to reading book two of this duet.

I love a good physiological romance so when I saw what this one was about I was so excited! I had to wait a few weeks but I had a feeling it was going to be so worth it! Some times as a reader, I need something that is going to mess with my brain, and this book..... this book had all the making to do just that.

Jaxon was a little crazy I think (snickers). He was very smart but he uses those smarts for evil.

I felt so bad for Amber. This book was amazing at giving us a look at the inside of a woman's head when she can't remember anything if importance. She never gave up the fight though.

There are some other major players in this book, but if I tell you about them it will spoil all the fun (insert evil laugh!!!)

I really enjoyed the dark yet erotic aspect of this book. It's hard to explain so I'll leave it at just that. It's flipping hot in the most wonderful way!

The plot was different and interesting. The drug the author explains is one that has you wonder what is really going on. There are twists and turns but at the same time, you see some of them coming. I am baffled at how it ended and am wondering if their will be more! My guess is not, but dang this book was great!

Overall, this book was amazing! It leaves you craving for more and even slightly confused. The author did an amazing job at keeping us confused but also keeping us in the story and craving for more!!! 5 stars #2OCCJD

This is most likely a duet with Amnesia being book 1 and Blood Oath being book 2. I didn't see any other books linked with these.
Amnesia was about Amber waking up with a medically induced amnesia administered by neurologist Jaxon, who had used her to test the serum. This was a psychological thriller with Jaxon being the psychotic character and Jaxon the character who committed a crime. Jaxon's mental state was questionable and unstable yet very little was revealed other than his tendency to physically abuse Amber. Most of the time Jaxon spent his time between her legs. He was a sexual character obsessed with Amber. Jaxon administered a serum referred to as Centrifuge into Amber. The serum was created to help with the memory loss associated with dementia.

Disclaimer: The story was sexual with scenes of forced sex and rape.

Amber's character was aware of the amnesia and aware of the injections. Amber knew her relationship was vital to the family. However, Amber was unaware of Jax's intentions. I felt Amber's character accepted the circumstances of her life too easily. She rarely questioned the red flags of her arrangement. It seemed too simple to remove any doubts with the administration of the serum when Xander's character would trigger a memory and yet Jax's abuse did not trigger any memories. It seemed too convenient that her triggers were isolated to certain circumstances.

Xander's character was brief with a hint of importance to Amber. I would have appreciated some insight as to the connection he had with Amber. Jaxon's character was obsessed with Amber since high school and somewhere along the way his obsession became more than just ownership of her body but her mind as well. The families encouraged the Union of them to fortify the serum he was working on. But once again very little was revealed in regards to the relationship Jax and Amber shared in the past. It was like the story began in the middle leaving out vital information.
So far Jax seemed unstable with some anger and control issues. I have not dissertained if Jax was psychotic or just greedy. I might believe Ambers attraction and arousal for Jax is these were stapled side effects of the injections.
I felt like I was missing a major piece of the puzzle. Such as how and why was Jax in love with Amber when it seemed a charade for the injections? No past references were made to indicate his love or desire for Amber prior to his current arrangement. There were too many holes. Not enough information about the serum that had begun years prior. Not enough information about these families and how they knew each other.
It was not easy to read the sex scenes knowing they were done with malice intent. The story had potential. It was a clever dialogue. The intentions of the serum got lost in the greed of uniting these families and then it sizzled out with the prenup.

I am so confused about what rating to give this book...so confused!

Have you ever seen something terrible happening but found yourself unable to look away?? This was me with this entire novel. Jax was a truly terrible character, way worse than any I've ever read- but I just had to see how this train wreck would end. I guess I'm moving on to the second installment...?

Amnesia by Kylie Hillman is a total mind blowing psychological book. It is book one in the series and definitely needs to be read first. When I started this book I went into it blind. So when I started reading this I was just completely shocked and hooked. I felt like the writing is very well done and the characters were so developed etc that it was hard not to like this book. Jax is a total turd and I really hope he gets what's coming in book two. Which I hope I can read soon. Amber… oh poor Amber. I felt so bad for her and all the crap she was having to go through. And to have amnesia and not Remember anything. Omg so much happens in this book! Jax is a total sociopath and madman. The fact that he has to literally keep Amber in a medically induced amnesia so she'll stay with him is completely messed up. I really didn't see the ending coming. I really thought it was going to go a different way and that everything would be tied up in a nice little bow. But nope not at all. After I picked my jaw up off the floor it hit me that it was perfect. Amber is really set up for book two. This book totally blew my mind and really opened up my world to psychological books. I believe this is the first one like this I have ever read. I think this would make a fabulous tv show. Just saying. Anyway I really enjoyed this book and look forward to book two! 4 star rating!

This is one crazy and insane read. I was totally turned around by the ups and the downs but in a good way. Im not going to lie, this is one fantastic physiological romance/ thriller romance.
Amber has Amnesia and she's not 100% sure the life she's living is hers. She knows something is off but isn’t sure what. Dr. Jaxson Ray has been obsessed with Amber for a very long time- he is in love with her and what he does, well, goes way beyond the standard of ethics or even decency. He has Amber in his sights and where he wants her so she can’t get away. He has it to where she won’t regain her memory and is going to be with him forever.
Poor Amber-what can she do? Who can Amber trust? Every time there is a memory that rises to the surface, creep that he is, Jaxon erases that memory. Amber had a life before what happened, happened. There is too many things to say which would give the plot away and there are many twists and turns to this book. There are many things that happen which leads up to the OMG ending. There is going to be a book 2 which is great because WTH happened on that ending. It was totally shocking. I felt so bad for Amber. The way things ended left me with this sick and helpless feeling ; one I didn’t like. I wanted help for Amber and just when it looked like there was a ray of light for her-nope, darkness fell. I cant wait to see what Kylie Hillman does for an encore with her cast of crazy and twisted characters next. Here is to hoping Amber gets her HEA in book 2.

My rating: 4.4 stars ****

Remember Robin Cook? There were elements to his medical thrillers that always pulled me in, but his execution drove me nuts. I've enjoyed Kylie's MC series but when I saw a Dark Romance (oh how I love me some dark romance, let me count the ways) and a title like AMNESIA?

I got the ARC. I LOVED it. I didn't know what to expect from the blurb - you don't know if the hero is a HERO, you don't know if this is going to be a Happily Ever After (or a TWISTED Happily Ever After) and you walk into this story about as informed as our poor heroine; and by that, I mean she's got no memories and a whole lotta warning bells BUT SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHY and what can she trust??

"Amnesia is not a barrier to my understanding of feelings; if anything, its heightened my perception since I have nothing else clouding my judgement."

This one felt like a guilty pleasure read, and it's unfortunate that I can't give specifics - but there is no way to do it without spoiling the fun. And it was. I had fun. When I write reviews I try to say hey, you're here to see if this book sounds like it's for you. Do you like Dark Romance? Accctually, I am not sure if it is romance - you'll need to double check the category if you're hard limit is set on the normal romance book progression - were there romantic elements? Yes. Traditional? Not even a little. Do you enjoy a little scifi/horror/medical thriller-esqueness? Do you like your leading man hot, dangerous, and with questionable motives?

If your answer is an affirmative of the above HAPPY READING :)

Amnesia is the first thrilling instalment in the Centrifuge Duet by Kylie Hillman. This story is quite the psychological thriller- it’s edgy, raw, dark, intense, and twisted! I fell into the wickedly good web that Ms. Hillman spun and couldn’t leave till I had read every word! There were points where I didn’t know if I could keep reading any more- because some parts of the story was quite brutal, violent and creepy- but Ms. Hillman had snared me in this gripping tale and I needed to find out what happened to the characters, more than I needed to sleep. So I stayed up till the early hours to get some answers…. But, alas- I have been left hanging, waiting for the second instalment to hopefully get the closure that I (and the characters) need.
The story introduces us to Amber St George. She has woken up with no idea of who she is, where she is, and no memory of her life. Her thoughts are muddled and something just doesn’t feel right. She’s confused and a little afraid. To add to her dilemma she discovers a strange man beside her and is at a loss as to who he is. He explains that he is her fiancé, Dr. Jaxon Ray- a leading neurosurgeon, and that she had been in a bad accident which nearly cost her her life. As a result of the head injury she sustained from the impact she has severe Amnesia, but she is slowly making progress and recovering some of her memories of their life together.
At first her Jaxon seems so tender, caring and kind- he makes her feel adored and that she is his world… but he soon proves to be quite a contradictory character whose moods swing quite unpredictably. But, Amber is convinced that she is somehow to blame, that her memory loss has made her paranoid and difficult to deal with.
Thanks to the new drug that he has developed specially to help her recover, and which he administers very regularly, he explains to her that she will regain her memory and he is hopeful that they can get back to their normal life fairly soon. But she still feels that something is wrong and she continues to be suspicious. She experiences ‘flashes’ that make no sense to her and certainly don’t seem to fit in with what Jaxon has been telling her.
As the story progresses, Amber’s suspicions increase as do her ‘flashes’. Slowly she begins to unravel quite an alarming tale. Nothing is as it appears and now she doesn’t know who she can trust, because even her own parents seem to be involved in the whole conspiracy.
Wow!! What a brilliant story. I can’t help thinking what a fantastic movie or Television series this story would make. Ms. Hillman has certainly proved her writing prowess with this chilling tale. I really can’t wait to get my hands on the second instalment.

Thank you Ms. Hillman!

I think that a reader going into this book knowing that it is NOT a romance may find it more enjoyable, as you would be prepared, and would read it for what it is, A Psychological Thriller. That isn't a spoiler, as it says this right on the cover.

I went in blind, and kept waiting for the romance or Stockholm Syndrome to happen. But that isn't what this book is about. There are very similar vibes to You or Therapist, with the main male character being a sociopath. As I did the audiobook, I'm not sure if there are warnings at the beginning, but if there are, I highly recommend that you heed them if you have triggers.

The story was entertaining if you like a fairly quick thriller, but I did feel like there were bits of information that we were missing. Almost like there should have been a previous book. Part of that is due to element of suspense the author wants to portray, but I'm not sure that all of it is because of that. The ending was also a bit of a let down for me, as you are left wondering about how things will eventually end up. I'm sure this thought will be confusing but I almost wish that the last chapter didn't happen, so we were left imagining how it would go, rather than just not knowing.

ARC Provided and Reviewed by We’ve Licked that book blog!

I am really conflicted with my feelings this book.

I did really like Amber and I felt so sorry for her and what she was going through… she is a strong woman and I really liked her but I just felt conflicted that one minute she hated Jax then the next she was all over him I understand that was maybe just the drug he was giving her. I just don’t know.
Now Jax I hated he is insane and totally obsessed with Amber to the point he kept drugging her so she wouldn’t remember anything about her past…. He wanted her and even her family wanted him to marry her it was messed up. From the book, we get he is sexy but he is totally of his head… one minute he seems nice next he is crazy…. I didn’t connect with him at all.

My only problem with the book was I didn’t get enough of the background on Amber and Jax to truly know why he had such an obsession with her. Even though we got little snippets of the past.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the story. It was different.

This is my first book by this Author and will not be my last. I will be checking out her other books..

God this book leaves me with so many mixed feelings and I am really not sure yet how I feel about it. I feel uneasy to say the least and I just don't know. It's one of those your gonna love it or hate it. The story was good, raw and most definitely messed up.

This book is fantastically written and it is full of things that makes your frustrated, full of anger and sometimes cringing. Amber and Jaxon know each other but not in any friemdly sense and to say what happens is disturbing to say the least. I can't really say much about this intriguing read only that it is not for the faint of heart.

I can't say what I really feel yet regarding this story as I feel it's unfinished but I liked a lot and it left me just shocked. Yep I am a mess but I am sure once I mill it over I will have answers. This ends on A cliffhanger but I am sure the next installment will be here before we know it

Wow, just wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller and read it within one sitting. It was a really gripping page turner that I could not put it down. The author writes in a nice easy way, making the book enjoyable to read.

We meet Dr. Jax Ray, a loveable man devoted to his fiancée Amber. All is not well with Amber. She has amnesia and she cannot remember herself, let alone yesterday. She feels so loved and protected by Jax but she feels that she shouldn't. She finds herself wondering why.

I loved both these characters immediately. They both continued to surprise me throughout the story…sometimes annoying me, sometimes making me shake my head in disbelief. However, I loved them both. Other characters also come into the story and I mostly liked them all, well, all but one.

AMNESIA is a complex, intricate web of deceit, riddles and lies that had me guessing and wondering what the hell was going on from page 1! It is also an intense, dark, romance yet it is unequivocally different from anything else out there!

Dr. Jaxon Roy wants what he wants and he wants it now. With the help of both his and her parents, he has gone to absolutely insane lengths to achieve his goals. The female mc has amnesia and what she does or doesn’t remember will shock you!

What a serious mindf*ck! This story is a psychological thriller at its finest!

Intriguing, deceitful, pompous, arrogant men who will maintain their power by any means necessary. Even at the cost of their families!

Wow just wow! You have to read the story to believe it! The love of money is truly the root of all that is evil!

4 stars!

It had a promising, but repetitive plot. The characters are so underdeveloped. If they were more fleshed out, maybe their actions would've made better sense. Disappointing.
