Closure of Runway 17C/35C for Saturday, January 21

The City of Southlake has been informed by the DFW Airport of the closure of runway 17C/35C (shown in the map above in yellow) for Saturday, January 21 from 9:30 AM-6:00 PM.

The DFW Airport is planning a closure of Runway 17C/35C for this Saturday, January 21, in order to complete necessary maintenance activities. The anticipated duration of the closure is from 9:30 AM until 6:00 PM. This planned closure from the DFW Airport will facilitate completion of outstanding maintenance issues that have been delayed due to cold and/or wet weather. The work activities include pavement repairs, marking replacements and electrical maintenance.

The winds are forecast to be from the south/southwest at about 10 mph for the entire period. During the closure, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will direct aircraft arrivals that would typically have landed on Runway 17C/35C to other runways. Most arrivals will be temporarily shifted to Runway 17L resulting in increased landings over Coppell and Lewisville. Arrivals will also be shifted to Runway 18R and 13R on DFW’s west side resulting in additional flights over Flower Mound/Grapevine and Southlake respectively.

More information about the Airport’s planned runway work is available on DFW’s website at the dfwairport.com link:. We encourage citizens with inquiries or complaints to contact the DFW Airport. You may contact them by email at dfwnoise@dfwairport.com, or on the Noise Complaint Hotline, at 972-973-3192 (manned 24/7). Follow-up response calls or emails will be provided, when requested.
