Join Magnum Foundation at Beit El Sura for a special alumni showcase from The Arab Documentary Photography Program. Featuring works: She as He by Sima Diab, Just Stop by Eman Helal, and Homemade by Heba Khalifa, Egypt. Traces of the Conflict by Hamada Elrasam, Egypt, Hide and Seek by Sara Sallam, Egypt, Loss by Hader Mahmoud, Egypt, Post-Revolutionary Social Change in Egypt by Mostafa Bassim, Egypt, West of Life by Zied Ben Romdhane, Tunisia, Saudi Tales of Love by Tasneem Al Sultan, Saudi Arabia, and Live, Love, Refugee by Omar Imam, Syria.

Presentations will be conducted in English.






This screening is organized in partnership with Beit El Sur and Eman Helal.

Beit el Sura is an Egyptian photography school, gallery, studio and agency based in Cairo and founded by award-winning photographer Ahmed Hayman and filmmaker Reem Ossama in October 2016. The place offers a wide variety of photography courses that help and guide students to reach advanced levels besides hosts exhibitions and sell prints. Beit el Sura's studio is a great equipped space for photography amateurs and professionals to shoot their products, food and models. The agency consists of a professional and diverse team which doing a photo session for corporates, creating a film for a certain brand or shooting products.

Eman Helal is an Egyptian freelance photographer based in Cairo and covers in Middle East , Africa and US. She dedicated to covering hard news and documentary projects with a human rights focus. She was the first Arabic photographer to be selected as a Magnum fellow in 2013 for the Human Right photography fellowship in NYC. Eman participated in The 22nd edition of Joop Swart Masterclass in 2015 and received fund from Magnum Foundation and World Press Photo to complete her project about sexual harassment in Egypt. Eman’s work published in international publications like New York Times , Time , Stern magazine , Polka magazine , Guardian , AlJazeera English , CNN and works as stringer with AP in Cairo. Her work received Portenier Human Rights Bursay 2016 , Egypt Press Photo Awards, First Place 2014 and Egypt Press Photo Awards, Third Place, 2011. Eman’s work exhibited in photography festivals and exhibitions international in NYC , Amsterdam , Barcelona , Seoul , Addis Ababa , Delhi , Siant-Petrersburg and Braunschweig.
