Nothing But a Dare is a second chance, enemies to lovers rom-com with a curvy, will punch you in the throat heroine, and a hero that will push every button she has for fun. Oh, and did I mention there's a cat that wears turtleneck sweaters?

After what could possibly be the world's worst morning, the last thing Abbie expected to see as she walked into her meeting was her childhood nemesis.

Hunter. Freaking. James.

The title of world's worst morning now seemed like an understatement.

When Abbie walked into the conference room looking like a complete mess, and still killed her presentation, Hunter knew he'd made the right decision signing on with WCM Advertising. He was there for one reason, and one reason only. Abbie was going to be his, even if he had to dare her every step of the way.

Game on.

Nothing But a Dare is a stand alone, enemies to lovers rom-com by Molly O’Hare. This is about a heroine who may or may not have some anger issues, and a man who will stop at nothing to convince her to give him a chance.

Abbie Collins was ten years old when Hunter James moved in next door to her. Hunter became both a nemesis and a best friend. He challenged Abbie by daring her to do things, things that were outside of her comfort zone. Because Abbie was more comfortable with her nose in a book in her own little world. Their friendship continued until Hunter did something that broke Abbie’s heart, and then he left.

Now, years later, Abbie has worked her way up in an advertising firm and is ready to make the presentation of her life. It’s the day she is sure will prove to her boss she is the one to choose for the promotion. Only the morning has been a complete disaster and as she stumbles into the conference room a hot mess, who is sitting next to her boss but the one and only person she never wanted to lay eyes on again, Hunter James.

Hunter always knew he would return to Abbie. It took him awhile to figure it out but she was the one. Now all he had to do was convince her to forgive him for his teen age behavior, and to convince her that he wasn’t going anywhere. That she was it for him.

man carrying woman over shoulder

As Hunter and Abbie are paired together on a client’s campaign, Hunter has his work cut out for him since Abbie seems to want nothing more than to cause him bodily harm. She lets her intentions be known very often.

Abbie was hilarious. She really did have some OTT anger issues and she tried her best to take Hunter down on more than one occasion. She also swore like a sailor! It was easy to see, though, that all the bravado was her way of protecting her heart. Hunter was an alpha, dirty talking man who I couldn’t help but to love. He was very determined and he seemed to know just how to distract Abbie from her tantrums. He knew what he wanted and wouldn’t stop until Abbie knew it too.

Now let’s talk about Abbie’s cat, Rupert. He is a hairless Sphynx who behaved like a dog. The cat was eerily intelligent. And let’s not forget that Rupert loves to be dressed up.

This was such a fun read. It was super steamy but also so sweet. Abbie’s experience with Hunter when they were teens broke my heart and it was easy to understand her behavior because of it. Hunter was awesome. He was determined and hot and swoony. Slowly, he was breaking down Abbie’s defenses and putting her back together at the same time.

This really was enjoyable and I can’t wait to see what Molly does next!

First time reading this author's work...
and basically, I jumped on it cause of the blurb's premise and my fave kind of trope...
Nothing But a Dare is a second chance, enemies to lovers rom-com with a curvy, will punch you in the throat heroine, and a hero that will push every button she has for fun. Oh, and did I mention there's a cat that wears turtleneck sweaters?

yes, it was hilarious...
it had pent up angsty energy, cracked up banter and bickering...
and the heroine was just a tad bit crazy...LOL, which I loved...

what bothered me was the storyline's timeline jump...

so, we see them as kids (she's 10 and he's 13) daring each other non-stop, then we get a glimpse of what happened between them when they were (16 and 18)...and then bam, slam...it's been 16 years since they last saw each other...and NOW, he's determined to get a second chance with her...and he won't stop at nothing to get her...finally...

let me ask you smth? What the hell have you been doing for the last 16 years...

gathering experience...I'd guess...*smirks*

anyway, if not for that huge timeline gap, this would be amongst the very top.

Nothing But A Dare is a seriously swoony, sweet, hilarious, and steamy read! 😍 I'm so in love with Hunter and Abbie! From childhood enemies, to teen crushes, to heartbreak, to adult loving this second chance romance has it all!

Abbie is so fierce! I flove her attitude and her spirit. She takes no shit from anyone and shows everyone around her why she's a fecking boss. Hunter is a sweetie-pie-jerk. It's a new word. Shhh...just let it happen. Hunter is so damn lovable, he's so helplessly in love and it looks damn good on him. Abbie is it for him and he will go to any lengths to prove it.

Molly O'Hare is a go to author of mine when I need hilariously sweet reads. Her humor is effortless and never feels forced. I could read about Hunter and Abbie ALL day!

Molly O’Hare I absolutely loved this book, I can’t even begin to tell you how much!! I laughed from the start to the very end. This book is filled with wonderful characters. I absolutely loved Abbie, she is spunky, adorable, and crazy in such a good way! She is just a wonderful, wonderful character and then there’s Hunter..... Wow, just wow. He’s a hot sexy alpha, growly male! What’s not to love about Hunter 😉. This is a phenomenal enemies to lovers, second chance romcom romance and it gives you all the feels and all the laughs. You just can’t stop rooting for their happily ever after, which you know they’re going to get! I have to give a huge shout out to Rupert the cat, never has a cat entertained me as much as Rupert. You need to add this book to your TBR list ASAP trust me you won’t regret it. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).

Prepare to be rolling on the floor dying of laughter, then to be melting to the floor in full swoon. Maybe just plan to read while on on the floor because Nothing But a Dare is going to keep you there with nonstop romantic comedy gold. No one can steal my heart and make me laugh so much the way Molly O’Hare does. While each and every one of her books are some of my all time favorites to turn a bad day around (shout out to Lord Waffles for always having my back!) Nothing But a Dare is one of her best books to date.
The history between Hunter and Abbie, the Enemies to lovers combined with a second chance, the humor, Rupert, the explosive chemistry... I could go on all day about how so many things come together to make Hunter and Abbie’s story amazing!

The back and forth between Abbie and Hunter was so fun to watch. I was snort-laughing throughout almost the entire book except for the sexytimes which were HOT. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that a certain sweater loving character will steal your heart. If I could've jumped through the book and kidnapped him, I would have. I dare you to read this wonderfully charming, witty, and sexy book. I promise you won't regret it!

Sexy, sweet, funny and an absolute swoon worthy hero. Yes, Nothing But A Dare has it all, including a turtleneck wearing naked cat. Hunter is so in love with Abbie and after years he sets out to prove his love. Abbie on the other hand sees Hunter and just wants to throat punch him. I was either laughing or swooning with this book the whole way through. An absolute page turner you cannot put down.

TW: pregnancy, rape, minors.

*Spoilers ahead* *And swearing, too (sorry).*

I wanted to read this since it had so many good reviews I was impressed, but honestly, I'm about two-thirds in and can't understand HOW would anyone enjoy this disgusting book.

1) Everything is so rushed, and I get it because it's a short book, but if the author had chosen another story I think it would've been more fitting because here everything happens at light speed and it's just awful. You can't fit 16 years of pining for each other and an enemies to lovers trope all in less than 200 pages, honey.

2) Abbie is fucking annoying. She's dumb, and childish, and completely irrational. She's supposed to be 26 but she acts likes she's 5. She keeps on jumping on Hunter, throwing him to the ground, and whining about every minor inconvenience. She's the worst main character there's ever been.
After they sleep together, she wakes up and acts like she doesn't know what happened, when there wouldn't be any chance of that happening because she wasn't drunk or drugged or whatever. I mean, so she just wakes up and casually has short term amnesia? C'mon.
She's also terrified of planes, then ends up flying and looking through the damn window: why would anyone with an irrational fear of flying ever do something like that ?!?!?!
And what had me wanting to kill her was the fact that she was oh so scared of the hurricane and etc, but she goes out in the middle of the storm to go to a fucking pharmacy? She knows there's a LOCKDOWN, that there's a HURRICANE out there, and that everybody is inside their own houses or whatever, so why would she ever think that there'd be a pharmacy open to buy something so not-primordial like THE PILL?!?!
I swear, she's the worst. Nothing about her makes sense.

3) The first scene, when they're around 10 and Abbie pins Hunter down, felt absolutely wrong. I don't want to read about how a 10 yr old feels when she's on top of a 13 yr old, thank you very much.

4) The whole "oh no, we didn't use protection!!" thing was unnerving. She went out in a fucking hurricane to get the pill but then comes back and fucks him again and lets him finish inside her. She made a whole ass problem about them not using protection and just makes the same mistake, twice. She's mad because she could get pregnant, but you know, there's also this thing called 'pre-cum', so you're not safe just because he didn't finish inside, sweetie.

5) I was kind of enjoying the banter between them, but after they slept together Hunter became this awfully sexist prick, I don't know where the hell it came from. First of all, he picks Abbie up like she's a child (which she acts like she is, for God's sake) every single time they're talking. Just put her down, she can walk on her own two legs, you idiot. Then, he sees her freaking out about the condom thing and etc, and he DECIDES that having a child with her wouldn't be so bad so he doesn't give a fuck and finishes inside her, without even having a word with her. They haven't seen each other in 16 years, he practically verbally abused her when he left her, they've been reunited for less than two weeks, hadn't had a conversation about their past or about anything else that wasn't work-related or about her cat, and then he thinks it's a good idea to get her pregnant and have kids?!?! What !! the !! fuck !!
What is more, he's not only sexist and an asshole but an abuser. She told him "no" and wanted to stop several times when they were having sex and he just ignored her and kept on going, because "it's obvious she's liking it". If she says no, if she wants to stop, then you do as she says.

6) The writing is horrible. No thoughts, just dialogue, and I feel like anyone could've written a shitty story like this. There's no depth to any conversation, no internal thinking, no nothing. It's plain boring.

So, conclusion: if you don't wanna waste your time, don't read this. If you do wanna waste your time, then good luck 🤞.

The newest offering from Molly O’Hare is a 5 star read right from the start!
I fell for Hunter almost immediately! He’s smart, cocky, funny, SEXY, and playful! There are occasions where you want to slap him upside the head but mainly he’s a HOT aloha male with a big heart and a dirty mind! He’s the perfect book boyfriend!
Abbie is FIESTY!! This is a tough, intelligent, driven, funny, perfectly curvy woman! There are many layers to this crazy girl that the author develops all through the story!
Together these two make a hysterical couple!! The physical play and witty banter make you root for them right from the beginning!
O’Hare has written a steamy, sexy, panty-melting story here- her spiciest book yet! This one is not for the faint of heart! Buckle up for a wild ride!! (What I wouldn’t give to have Hunter in my bed for one night!)
I have read all of O’Hare’s previous 4 offerings- and have loved every one of them! Each book gets a little more daring! She is a talented author who deserves greater attention!! She’s hit the ball out of the park (again!) with this one.
If you’re looking for a funny, fast-paced, sexy, layered story, this is the book you need to read! Spread the word!

This was a cute albeit basic premise - childhood frenemies that reunite years later. Turns out that Hunter always loved Abbie and he returns to make that clear.

I love a story where the hero is completely enamored. The problem for me with this book is that Abbie is annoying... and not in a cute way. She's constantly threatening violence. To Hunter, to strangers, to her boss. Every time she spoke she was telling someone she was going to punch them in the throat.

I wish I was exaggerating. She kept tackling Hunter. Sure after awhile it became foreplay, but when they first meet up again - in her office's conference room, she tried to pin him to the ground. She had no idea he was there for her! She was completely unprofessional. Just violent and rude and annoying.

I kept reading for Hunter. And because I was generally annoyed with the book I noticed an inconsistency... I may be wrong but in the beginning they were two years apart with Hunter being older. Then the author made it seem they were in the same grade and at the end he said to her that he loved her since THEY were ten... again making it seem they were the same age. Just an annoying detail that annoyed me because I was annoyed. That word just sums it up for me.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Molly. If I could give this book more stars I would. You have written a hilarious but sweet book in Nothing But A Dare. I can not tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book.
Abbie Collins never turns down a dare. When the bane of her existence shows up on a very important day for her she just knows the universe is screwing with her. Her spunky personality and take no prisoners attitude is what has made her so successful. Hunter James has come back for the one person he knows he can not live without. He is perfect for her in every way. His take charge attitude will have you swooning, and his sweet side will leave you breathless.
I can not express to you how much I truly enjoyed this book. The banter between the two of them flowed so well. Let's not forget the hairless cat with an attitude the size of a mountain. His antics alone will have you doubling over with laughter. It has been awhile since I have sat down and laughed as much as I swooned while reading a book.

Molly O'Hare stepped it up in Hunter and Abbie's story! I have enjoyed her other books in the past, and this one did not disappoint. The writing and flow of this book seamed together nicely and hilariously.

Hunter and Abbie used to be childhood friends but it all changed years later. He treated her terribly. I wanted to crawl in the book and go totally mad on the guy, but Abbie had herself covered in that department. I love her feisty attitude. I love her fighting and antics with Hunter. These two have soooo much to admit to each other and when they do, my heart melted into a little puddle and I was like, I'm in love with Hunter! HA! This story made me laugh, Rupert was fantastic, Hunter made me all hearts and goo goo eyes at his love for Abbie. I definitely recommend this romantic comedy. Their banter, their chemistry, the reason for him coming back, the sexy times..OH MY!!!

Ohhh lordy this book had me rollin! Molly writes the best heroine. They are strong confident women that don't need a man. Somehow the heroes are solid enough in their own lives to take on these women and the process is anything but boring.

Abbie Collins is a very driven woman determined to move ahead in her career come hell or high water. Enter Hunter who is neither hell or high water. He's worse!
Hunter has never forgotten Abbie and unfortunately she hasn't forgotten him.
The shenanigans the two get into had my sides hurting! Good luck taming the beast you created Hunter

Freaking hilarious!!! I was seriously laughing the whole time I read this book!!

This was my first book I have picked up from this author. It came as a referral from a friend and I am extremely happy I did.

Seriously, Abby is hilarious.... but she is so real!! Her thoughts, yeah I’ve had some of those too.

Ruppert- he might be the show stealer 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I would agree with Hunter I’m all the names he was called. He is creep hairless.... yeah you get the point.

Well done. Nailed the Rom Com!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I will be reading more from this author in the future.

I loved Nothing But A Dare. This one was a fun read. I found myself laughing out loud at some points. Abbie and Hunter know each other when they were younger, they haven't seen each other in years when Hunter pops up in Abbie's life. Abbie and Hunter are super funny. Their banter in funny. Abbie is a fun girl who doesn't back down from a dare. Hunter has come back to win Abbie over and he won't stop until she's his. These two have great chemistry even when Abbie was threatening Hunter. If you looking a for a fun pick me up then this is a book you should check out.

Abbie knew her day started off bad but did the universe have to kick her when she was down? Late to the meeting that would make her career and disheveled, she laid eyes on the man who completely stomped her spirit. Neighbors since the age of ten until their senior year of high school, their relationship was antagonistic, based on daring each other to do things. Then, before he left town, he was beyond awful and Abbie was destroyed. Forced to work with Hunter on this project, Abbie is determined to give him nothing. Hunter is stunned by Abbie, her body and her totally nailing the presentation even with her rough start to the day. He knows that he is finally right where he needs to be. Now to convince her that he is not here for a job, he is here for her!

Molly O'Hare is one of those authors that can make you laugh so hard you lose your breath! I laughed so hard in one particular area that I had to read it out loud to my husband. What sets Ms O'Hare apart from other funny authors is she also packs the emotions into her stories. Right after the scene I was laughing about came another hot on its heels that had me sobbing. I am at a loss for better words so I will have to make do. I loved these characters, their history and their future. They will quickly take up space in your heart and you can't help but cheer them on. Abbie's fire and confidence, Hunter's sweetness and determination and Rupert the cat's personality and wardrobe were a recipe for a fabulous story and I loved every moment with them!

It’s the day of the presentation that will surely land Abbie the promotion she’s been working towards for so long. Unfortunately her morning has been a disaster and as she stumbles into the conference room she sees the one person she wished she’d never see again, Hunter James.

Abbie and Hunter were frenemies since he moved in next door at the age of ten. Their friendship consisted of Hunter constantly challenging Abbie to step out of her introverted box. Until one day as teenagers Hunter breaks her heart and then he’s gone. Now he’s back and determined to be forgiven and get the girl. If only he can tame Abbie long enough to convince her he’s not leaving and that she’s the one for him.

In true Molly O’Hare fashion Nothing But A Dare is romcom magic! Abbie was an adorable hot-mess and Hunter was hot, persistent, and swoony af! Their chemistry was off the charts and their enemies to lovers dynamic had me flipping pages as fast as I could possibly read them! The story was equal parts hilarious, steamy, and sweet. And of course because it’s a Molly O’Hare book there’s an unforgettable pet to boot. This time we got to meet Abbie’s hairless cat, Rupert and he never failed to steal the show.

If you’re a fan of laugh-out-loud romcoms, sexy, alpha heroes, hot-mess heroines who curse up a storm, all wrapped up in a steamy romance, then you *need* Nothing But A Dare. In fact, I dare you to not like it. 5 stars.

I really enjoy Molly O'Hare's writing and Nothing But a Dare is not as an exception.

Abbie and Hunter used to be best friends until they kissed and when they were caught he made fun of her and then hurt her in the worst way. Now, years later Hunter is back and wants to make amends to the girl he fell in love with so long ago. Too bad for him, Abbie isn't interested at all, or at least she thinks.

Nothing But a Dare was a fun friends-to-lovers/enemies-to-lovers romance that I really enjoyed. I thought this was a cute read. I definitely didn't love Abbie as much as some of Molly's other characters, but this was still a very fun read. Plus dual POV's are always a win. I think my favorite part about this story was Hunters reactions to Abbie's cat. Simply hilarious.

Nothing But a Dare is an absolutely adorable and fun read. The characters, pacing, and writing was simply enjoyable.

I absolutely love Molly O'Hare. Her books are always funny, gripping, emotional and amazing. This one is off the charts all of those. Abbie and Hunter became friends when they were little. They would play this game where they would dare each other to do something. And Abbie being Abbie would never say no to a dare. She wasn't that type of person. But things happened and she learned to hate him. But then one day the biggest day of her career he shows back up in her life. That is when things get downright interesting. Abbie is feisty with quite the attitude. I absolutely love her character. There were times I was laughing so hard I was crying when it came to her. And her hairless cat. Oh my God I loved that cat. Hunter will stop at nothing to show Abbie he wants her but will it be enough. Gripping from beginning to end. Amazing storyline from beginning to end. I loved it and highly recommend reading it. I absolutely love Molly O'Hare and cant wait to read more from her.

Holy moly what a fantastic funny story!
Abbi and her outlandish angry antics was just too hilarious and the stuff she said made me laugh so much!
This book was a highlight of my week! Its also my first book by the author and I definitely want to read more of her work if this is the sort of books she writes!
A really great rom com for me is when the characters just make me laugh alot all throughout the book and this one did it in leaps and bounds!
Absolutely loved it! Highly entertaining and don’t even get me started on Hunter! Oh my goodness! He made me swoon and the steamy moments were off the charts hot!
What's a romance without a bit of feistiness, sizzling chemistry and laughs!! Too flipping good! Great book to grab if you are in a reading funk, it’ll definitely perk you back up!

The concept was solid. The execution, not so much. I don’t think this author has ever MET an adult female professional. I get that she was supposed to be “feisty” but no professional woman at the top of her career is tackling people in her office MULTIPLE times. It was ridiculous. Add to that her over the top hysterics and I wanted to punch her. I don’t know why James would have been interested.

The story was lacking but at least the actual technical writing was ok which is why I gave it an extra star. I wanted to throw the towel in on this book early on but I don’t like leaving books unfinished if I can help it. Unfortunately, this one never got any better. I recommend giving this book a hard pass.

Nothing But a Dare by Molly O'Hare is a standalone, enemies to lovers, second chance romance.
Meet Abbie. She's a driven woman, wants to be the best at her job and she's pretty incredible at it. But when her nemesis shows up, the gloves come off. All rationality leaves through the window and she's 12 again.
Hunter James is the bane of her existence. As kids they were friends, dared each other and when he left he broke her heart. And now, years later he still gets her riled up. Only now they're co-workers/ rivals.
To be honest, I didn't care mucg for Hunter. He's too full of his alpha bossiness to get a connection with him. Abbie on the othereat. 4 beautiful Stars.

This book had me laughing out loud!

Abby Collins could never turn down a dare even if it came from the person she hated the most. Hunter James was her first love and the first person to break her heart (next to her father). He also made her the angry Fowl mouth lady she is today. Abby worked her butt off after the day Hunter left her in her driveway. She hadn’t turned back until she walked into an important meeting a mess!

And there sits the man she hates the most. After constant threats, deathly fears and one hell of a storm, they finally work our their differences and get everything off their chests so they can rekindle what they had all those years ago!

This book is full of feisty characters, and steamy, heart melting situations that will prevent you from putting it down. I loved the dynamic this couple had. They were fun, and interactive. The story had enough depth to keep you invested, and tons of witty banter to keep a smile glued to your face.
A character named Rupert may have almost stole the show, but in the end, it was Hunter freaking James that dominates this story.
This book is a definite must read full of laughs, swoons, and enough anger issues, you’ll find yourself desperately needing to turn the next page!

Nothing But a Dare was such a fun, hilarious read! This book had me laughing out loud at Abbie and the situations she found herself in. I absolutely LOVED her personality and spunk and thought that she was such a strong character. Hunter on the other hand took a little time to grow on me, but once he explained what had been going on in the past and cleared up some misunderstandings I was definitely a fan of his as well.

This book is must read for sure! You will not be disappointed! By Alisa

I had a great time reading the tale of Abbie and Hunter. Some of my favorite parts involved her cat, Rupert, and his eclectic collection of turtlenecks. I think we can all relate to Abbie on some level as she represents so many women today. My only criticism... not enough pictures of Hunter. Or Rupert.

Yes!! Another new to me author and what a story to start!

This is Abbie and Hunter's story.  Childhood friends, young, stupid words that hurt and separate them.

This changes Abbie, makes her feisty, makes her angry and makes her into the person she is today. Zero f..ks given! But underneath that tough exterior beats a heart of a vulnerable gal with insecurities and fears, just like all of us! I could totally empathize with her plight.

Hunter...oh my me! He has never forgotten Abbie or what she means to him.  Does he have what it takes to win her back?  Read it and find out!

This is a hysterical romantic comedy in the truest sense! I think Rupert is a total scene stealer and rightfully so! The dialogue between characters is fresh and witty, fast and furious too!  And Abbie's inner dialogue is phenomenal!

You get laughs and heat aplenty with this story! The chemistry between Hunter and Abbie is crazy hot and it shows all over the pages!

I love reading new to me authors and Ms. O'Hare is going to have a new fan in me!  Well done! Can't wait to add her previous works on my TBR list!

I loved this book as much as I've loved all Molly's books so far. It's a hilarious, second chance romance, with lots of steam, threats of violence and a great story that keeps you turning the page.

Abbie and Rupert (the cat) are the best. I love her tenacity. She's strong, bold and fierce. Rupert is just an asshole but as a cat, gets a complete pass.

Then there's Hunter "fucking" James. Molly does an amazing job of helping us as readers forgive him for the awful things he has done. I didn't want to. I tried to stand my ground but I failed. He's sexy, bossy and head over heels for Abbie.

Even though in the beginning, I was mad at her (Abbie) for not telling him off and walking away and angry at Hunter for being the biggest asshole ever, it didn't take long before I was rooting for their HEA.

Molly, I really was mad at you but you turned me around and I forgive you. 😉
