Personal statement by Daniel Harris, standing for election as an executive member of Hove Constituency Labour Party at its annual general meeting at Ralli Hall, 81 Denmark Villas, Hove BN3 3TH, at 11am on Sunday, February 5.

Daniel says:

“Since Joining the Labour Party to support our democratic leader Jeremy Corbyn along with our 10 policy pledges.

“I have been a successful Housing and LGBT campaigner in my own right who was born in Brighton and Hove and raised on a council estate.

“I would excel in Community Engagement with my links to local community groups, Community Engagement is key to gaining a Majority Administration.

“My experience includes:
• Digital Media, Marketing, Social Media and Campaigning Skills.
• Links with local LGBT Community, Elected Councillors and Local and National Press.
• Founded the UK’s First Residents Association exclusively for those living in Emergency and Temporary Accommodation, ETHRAG.
• Went to a Parliament Launch for a New Temporary Accommodation Policy with Shadow Housing Minister John Healy.
• Successfully campaigned to get a Temporary Accommodation Board Agreed as new policy in Brighton and Hove.
• Successfully campaigned to get in-house temporary accommodation in the city.
• Elected as a lay member at the annulled AGM, representative on the Steering Committee.

“I am a care leaver andbelieve its important to have the voices of people more representative of the community on our Elected EC, I am still learning, but I have much experience of local government and policy as well as much enthusiasm to give to the CLP.”
