Several of Russia’s best overclockers got together at ASUS HQ in Moscow for another ASUS OC Summit 2017 session at the weekend. The session involved Team Russia members including Smoke, slamms and _12_, Atheros, plus the legendary TaPaKaH (Netherlands). The result is that Smoke has just posted some very impressive scores. Most notably he used a pair of GTX 1080 Ti cards to break the World Record in the 3DMark Vantage Performance benchmark. The team also dabbled with x4 SLI with the same cards, an adventure that earned the team several Gold, Sliver and Bronze Global Cups. Let’s take a look at the rig used and the points scored by Team Russia.

In the 3DMark Vantage Performance benchmark we find a new World Record score of 139,876 marks. This was made with a pair of ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti ROG Strix OC Edition graphics cards, each with the GPUs tuned to 2,290MHz (+54.73%) with graphics memory configured at 1,475MHz (+7.19%). Other key features of the rig include an ASUS ROG Rampage VI Apex motherboard and an Intel Core i9 7980XE 'Skylake-X' processor clocked at 5.7GHz, which is a massive +119.23% beyond stock settings and obviously a key contribution to this World Record score. The new World Record score displaces the previous best which was submitted by steponz (US) by a total of 344 marks. The American also used a pair of GTX 1080 Ti cards, in his case paired with a Core i9 7960X at 5,698MHz (+103.5%). Perhaps the additional CPU grunt made all the difference for Team Russia.

The rig outlined above, using basically the same settings was also used to a grab a Global Silver Cup in the Catzilla 720p benchmark where it made a score of 113,039 marks. That score is just behind Rauf (Sweden) who leads the pack with a score of 114,843 marks and a pair of GTX GALAX HoF 1080 Ti cards and a pair of Pascal GPUs pushed just that bit further to hit 2,300MHz (+55.41%).

The ASUS OC Summit 2017 session also gave attendees the chance to see what they could do with ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti ROG Strix OC Edition cards in a water-cooled 4-way SLI system (pictured above). With GPUs clocked at 2,075MHz (+40.20%) and graphics memory at 1,475MHz (+7.19%), the 4x GPU rig managed a second placed score of 32,374 marks in 3DMark Time Spy. The same rig also produced third placed scores in Fire Strike Extreme (43,998 marks) and in 3DMark Fire Strike (54,387 marks). Just to underline how older benchmarks do not scale well with multi-GPU systems, the 4x GPU rig managed a score of 129,892 marks in 3DMark Vantage P, a Global First Place score for a 4-way system.
