Title: Unruly: A Legacy Novel (Cross+Catherine #3)
Author: Bethany-Kris
Genre: Romance, Suspense
Publication Date: December 4, 2017

ARC

Read the synopsis yet? Noticed the last three sentences?.. I see what you did there Bethany-Kris.
This was a stunning conclusion to the Cross + Catherine series. If you haven't read my previous reviews for Always and Revere, Do check them out. If you have, then you know that I have been obsessed with this series.

In Unruly, Cross and Catherine are parents to an adorable daughter Cecelia "Cece" Donati. I swear to you that your heart and soul will never be as content as when you read this book!
It always makes me smile like a loon to witness these bad ass/mafia/alpha men turn into such nervous nellies or into a hypocrite when it comes to their baby girls- It truly is sweet and funny! When Cross finds out that he is having a girl...his inner monologue about how he felt that God was punishing him because he had been such a shit as a teenage, how God was giving him a girl for him to worry about, to make him more homicidal than he already was and to test his short self-control- that was so hilarious!!!!

" I'm going to kill every human being with a Y chromosome that even looks at her, man "

But on a more serious note, Cross, my God that man! He is such an amazing father to Cece and an ever better husband to Catherine! How he described his child as his "beauty and life" and his wife as his "love and soul", was heartbreakingly beautiful! His love, dedication, loyalty and devotion towards Catherine was the reason I fell in love with him in the first place.

Unruly had all the love, all the suspense and all the mafia drama that we love and crave for.
I have noticed that when it comes to this series, I could go on and on, write so much about how I love this book and I still will not be able to express it enough.
Unruly was IT for me, the book was the pièce de résistance, the icing on the cake for this series. I'm going to miss these two love birds but knowing that they just within reach makes me happy.

PS: Cece is the most spoiled, adorable, smart, observant little girl I have ever met.. She is the PERFECT blend of Cross and Cathrine.

Happy Reading guys!

This had to be the most beautiful book I’ve ever read from Bethany-Kris!! I was already in love with Cross. She didn’t have to do anything more to have me completely enamored with him. I want a man just like him one day. He’s everything! Catherine didn’t sleep either. She showed just how strong she has become. Her journey, at times, was hard and heartbreaking to watch, but she came out as a survivor. She’s got a firm handle on her anxiety and she and Cross have proven that they can weather any storm. How do I know this? Because this story was full of storms and these two came out winners every single time.

Honestly, I could write an entire love letter to these characters. I love them that much. Add in the delightful Cece and my heart felt so incredibly full. She was such an adorable little person and I saw so much of Cross in her. So much! While this story was full of love, it offered everything we’ve come to be familiar with from this author. There was suspense, shots fired, lives in the balance, hits carried out… you know, The Life. Just another day, right?

This trilogy may be complete and the characters may have found their happy forever, but this won’t be the last we’ll see of them and for that I’m beyond grateful. The next Legacy novel will be about Camilla, Cross’s sister, and Tomasso. I’m so excited for that. The author will also be releasing a set of outtakes that I can barely wait for. Read about Cross and Catty and see why this author is an automatic one-click for me!

5 “Always Revere Unruly” Stars

Life can be UNRULY, but if you are battling it with the one you love, then the unruliness is bearable because your heart and soul are safe with one another. Catherine and Cross Donati are each other’s heart. They love with intense passion and conviction. They are a couple I could forever read, I never wanted the story to end. I absolutely loved this last book in the trilogy.

Cross Donati and Catherine Marcello Donati are one amazingly beautiful couple. Their love for one another is perfect. It has Always been that way, from their first encounter in school, through all the Unruly times growing up, to the point where they finally got to Revere one another, their love was each other’s heart.

This book is their life. A Cosa Nostra Boss and a Queen Pin in the making. Juggling their careers, the stresses, and the demands are what makes their life unruly. But Cecilia “Cece” Catherine Donati, takes the unruliness out of their life. Their three year old daughter is the light of their life and boy does she steal a few scenes from her parents. And to add to the demands of her parents, Cece would like a brother.

The mafia life isn’t easy and especially when Cross and Catherine are each the boss of their own organization, there is always something happening. The trials and tribulations are demanding and stressful but they each are their centers of gravity. Together they can do anything but apart life can be Unruly.

I love this couple. Catherine has had her struggles with mental health issues and she has worked very hard to overcome them. She is strong and her love for her husband and her child keep her on track. And then there is Cross. A man who loves his wife and daughter unconditionally. But his love and care of Catherine makes him a true man among men.

“Beauty and life was his child.
Love and soul was his wife.
Cross had known these things before, but now …
Now, he understood.
Anything he had to do to make sure his wife and child always knew how important they were to him, he would do it.
Always.”

The author wrote this beautiful mafia love story with deep, intense, soul wrenching love. Cross and Catherine......their life, their love, their commitment to one another flourished over time. To read from where these two met, to where they were now, only deepened the bond these two had. And then there was the precocious, little “mini me Catherine” and “all spunk Cross”, Cece Donati, that made this book all the more wonderful. Catherine and Cross as parents as lovers and as partners made this story perfect. And as they had many obstacles to over come, the one thing that never changed was their Love.......Always.

The conclusion to Cross & Catherine's life story was mostly focused on their marriage while they are trying to juggle with their crime-linked mafia businesses - Cross being a boss of the Donati Cosa Nostra and Catherine as a high profiled drug dealer working alongside her kingpin queen mother Catrina - and with family obligations and challenges of parenthood to a three year old daughter Cecelia "Cece" Donati....and Cross wants more...
Marriage was about love. Compromise. A collection of imperfect made perfect. So what if their life was a little unruly? They would figure it out eventually. Or...he hoped so.

and then there's added pressure from the Russians, drug cartel rivals, that only keeps them on the edge, as they try to steal tender, passionate moments for themselves...and keep each other afloat.
That was life.
Unpredictable.
Uncontrollable.
Unruly.

I honestly didn't have any pre-cognitive notion about the content of this story or where the author was planning to lead us. I had no expectations either BUT as I've cruised through this story I found many segments stretched out to the max and there wasn't anything out of the expectant thrill, therefore I found the general storyline and the conclusion, a solid, mellowed paced read with implemented sequences of action and steamy passion but other than that nothing major grasped my attention.

Whilst this book is not essential to the series, if you love Cross (and seriously, who doesn't) you absolutely NEED to read this one. Not only did I get Cross at his very best, I got to see him through his Cece. Man I LOVED that kid so hard. That apple definitely didn't fall very far from her daddy's tree, that's for sure. Can you say "no filter"? 😂

I will never be a Catherine fan, through three books I didn't grow to love her like I had hoped to but that's okay because .... Cross and Cece. As always, Bethany Kris delivered - huge - and now I have the impossible task of waiting for her next book. Don't matter what it is, I'll read it!

I didn't want this to end. I'd love Cross and Catherine before they were even a couple. I know that sounds weird but it's through their parents in other stories by Bethany that I fell for these two characters from the legacy stories that were promised.

Each of the books in this trilogy are stand alones in that the story in itself stands as a memorable moment in this couples' history. You don't need the past or the future to understand the enduring love these two have for each other. Thoroughly enjoyed this couple and now I have no clue what I'm going to do with myself!

*Received an alpha copy from the author*

This author just keeps the great stories coming. I expected greatness and that is exactly what I got. This book (and book 2) aren't out yet, so this will be spoiler free and pretty vague until after Revere comes out. But in summary, I loved, loved, LOVED it. Cross and Catherine's lives are fast-paced and filled with duty, which made this book jam packed with action. My heart was pounding for a good portion of this book. There were new enemies and new things on the line. The romance *sigh* their love was stronger than ever and I lovedddddd the points they were at in this book, but more on that later. The sex was hot as hell and plentiful. I mean, Cross and Catty were downright creative.
I fell absolutely in love with some new characters in this book and loved seeing what will play out in some of the other Legacy novels. I can tell they are going to be wild rides and I am so ready.
I cannot wait for everyone to read this and get wrapped up in this story. It was the perfect ending to Cross and Catherine's story and that epilogue... Omg my heart had unicorns popping out of it I was so happy. It was everything. This series was amazing and made me feel so many different emotions.
Cross and Catty's love was epic and these book were un-put-down-able. Yup that's a word now. As Cross would say, "I said what I said."

Updated: 12/5/17
This book came out yesterday so I can add a little more now.
OMG Cross as a freaking boss is KILLING IT. I loved seeing him dominate this role, but still be the man who took risks for business and family.
Catty learning the ropes of her mother's empire and having to stand on her own 2 feet was so interesting, but I always knew she would rise above whatever challenges were out in her way.
Cece was one of the cutest, most hilarious kids I have ever read about. I simply adored her and all her antics and phrases.
I loved seeing them handle their business while trying to stay connected and be a family, and keep the sexy in their marriage.
Like I said, I cannot wait for the other Legacy novels because just getting a taste of them in this book was so exciting.

★5 Stars! Unruly... Once the Principe and the principessa
Now, King and Queen
Still Catherine and Cross...always, revered and unruly.
“Her laughter was the balm to his soul.
She was his peace.
She gave him everything.”

I am love with everything about this book...I saw so much growth, honesty and love throughout this whole book and I just could not help but to be so proud of these characters.
Cece, their daughter, is the perfect mix between Catherine and Cross - she's sassy, spirited, observant, spoiled, witty, smart, determined, sharp, and never takes no for an answer, she says what she says, and she lets you know off the back to not to mess with her or her mom...Grandma or not!
Strolling across the kitchen, Cece pointed at her grandmother. She walked right on past, heading toward the entryway, and never once dropping her hand or looking away.
“No makes my ma mads,” Cece said earnestly, “no makes me mads, Grandmamma.”
Serious as could be.
Narrowed brown eyes.
A single pointed finger.

I need her book asap!

And Cross and Catherine...
I am at a loss for words...I am so broken-hearted that this is the end of their story but so utterly happy that I even got to be apart of their impeccable and unforgettable journey.
Bethany-Kris has earned herself a lifetime fan because of this trilogy.
Thank you Bethany.

Cross and Catherine will forever be in my heart. Always.

5 +++++++++

Bethany- Kris has outdone herself. Once again. I don’t know how many times I’m going to praise her but you bet your ass I will praise her where praise is due. Remember when I said Revere was her best work yet… Well, I still stand by that but I’d like to add Unruly to that. Hell, this series has touched me in ways I can’t begin to describe. (I’m going to try my best to anyway.)

Unruly picks up 5 years later. Cross and Catherine were in their elements in this book. They continued to grow as individuals, as a couple, as a family, and as Parents. We still saw the very same Cross and Catherine we knew from the previous books. Catherine was still very much the sly girl. And Cross was still very much the wild boy. They both just had a few more years of experience and adventure with a whole lot of love in between.

Catherine is working alongside her mother – the queen pin – learning the ins and outs of the business. Cross is doing his things as boss of the Donati crime family and running guns for the Marcello’s when needed. Their life is going at full speed. Catherine is off and out the state to do her thing as the reginella more days than not and Cross is handling business on his end. Now add in an adorable, cheeky and sly 3 year old to the mix and you know their life is full of entertainment, chaos and unpredictability.

Now let me introduce this 3 year old. Cecelia ‘Cece’ Donati. She is every bit her mother as she is her father. She’s sly. She’s smart. She’s confident. She was truly the brightest star in this story. She had her hilarious moments. I ADORED her relationship with her parents. Catherine had a special bond with her that Cross didn’t have. But Cross had a special bond with her that Catherine didn’t have. It was so perfect and balanced so well. Cross as a father was so pleasing and sweet AND cute to read! I loved that he had a daughter and the daughter had such a bold (cross/catherine like) personality! It was perfect! I loved him with all my heart before, and I love him even more now.

What I loved about Unruly was how we got an insight of what Catherine does when she handled business. In Always we saw the start of Catherine’s possible future. (job wise). Similarly, we saw how Cross was learning the ins and out of the Cosa Nostra. In Revere, Catherine was working for Andino. Cross was knee deep in gun running and the cosa nostra. But in Unruly we see the two characters in their professions and life style. It’s a side to them we haven’t been fully introduced to until Unruly. It was so fascinating to see them work and how they work and still try to balance each other, their lives and their daughter. Catherine’s growth as a reginella was very admirable. I was in awe of the woman she became at the end of Unruly. She was mindful of her depression as was everyone else but nobody ever undermined her because of it.

Catherine and Cross’s relationship was at its very best. It was the best I’ve ever seen them. It was simply beautiful how well they understood each other’s boundaries. They knew when to pull and push, when to say yes and when to say no; even when they had their disputes it was handled in a very Cross and Catherine way. They spoke about it. They thought about it. They were rational about it. Their relationship was simply so beautiful!

Their lives were constantly moving. It was one disaster after another. One situation after another. It was never ending and Cross and Catherine just wanted everything to slow down so they could just be a family. The action in Unruly was so riveting and terrifying. You’ll realise you weren’t breathing after a chapter ends. You end up taking in a huge breath just as you started another chapter because you don’t know what life will throw their way. There were equal parts of every aspect – a great balance of action, sweet moments, cute moments, sexy moments etc.

On top of that, there are relationships in Unruly that have surprised me. Relationships that were filled with animosity did a one eighty and were full of part admiration and part respect. Relationships that had a strong foundation suddenly were on shaky grounds. Catherine and Catrina’s relationship was an interesting one to read. A Queen Pin training her Reginella. Two very stubborn, strong willed, fierce woman. You can only wonder how that’ll turn out.

I simply loved everything about Unruly. The love between Catherine and Cross was still very strong and was very much radiating through Bethany-Kris’ engaging words. The action and thrill was gripping and made you want to continue until there were no words left to read. And Cece was a force to be reckoned with. Unruly will leave you wanting to remain in Cross and Catherine’s bubble forever. It will grip you by the heart and hold you tight. Unruly was the perfect ending to a perfectly executed story. It’s a journey you want to read from the beginning. Believe me.

Side Note: Always, Revere and Unruly can be read as standalones. Each story features the same characters, but at different points in their lives. They don't overlap each other so you will not be lost if you start one without reading the other. Always is a coming of age story. Revere can be seen as a second chance story. Unruly follows the couple's lives as a family and within their work environment. Bethany did a wonderful job of at creating different story lines for each story.

To get the best possible experience with the story (like I did), reading Cross and Catherine's Story from the beginning really helps create a deeper connection with them and deeper understanding of their characters. Nevertheless, each book can be read as a standalone and you can still get the same feel.

Cross and Catherine have been married together for 5 years and have been blessed with a beautiful, spunky little girl, but they never get to truly enjoy their marriage. Cross has taken over as the boss, splitting time between managing his men and trying to keep his end of the gun running deal. Catherine is being molded into the next Queen by her mother, but her mother has been testing her and Catherine still hasn't regained all the confidence she once had. Fighting to spend more time together, Cross and Catherine take on the biggest challenges of their careers hoping that after they reach the top it will all settle down.

That was life.
Unpredictable.
Uncontrollable.
Unruly.

If you haven't read Always and Revere yet, stop what you are doing. Unruly is book three in the Cross + Catherine series and must be read first. It's a stunning mafia-romance series that will have you falling in love with the characters, blushing at their lust driven antics, and covering your eyes at the bloodshed. Cross is as haughty as ever, a confident, handsome man who knows how to go after what he wants. I love that we see a different side of Cross in Unruly, this time chasing the future image of a happy little family rather than chasing Catherine, guns, and adventure. Catherine has definitely come into herself in Unruly, her age giving her the wisdom she lacked in her teens. I really enjoyed Catherine's coming into the Queen role. It was obvious she was destined for it, truly made to be more than just a mafia princess, but the challenges her mom put her through to really take over the position were so fun to read.

“Their world was too busy. The next uproar was coming. Restless hearts. Demanding lives. Unruly love.”

Much of this book is about Cross and Catherine truly becoming the Donati family, with Cece a wild combination of the two and the hope that they will be able to grow their family and enjoy it in peace. These two as parents is the biggest reason I enjoyed this book. It was laugh out loud funny at times and really sweet other times. Of course, there's drama, the usual marriage dilemmas, and no mafia book from Bethany-Kris would be complete without a bit of bloodshed, rage, and revenge. It was the perfect combination of suspense, crime, and romance. Unruly really is the perfect final novel in the Cross + Catherine series. I really enjoyed Cross and Catherine and will miss them as I move onto other Legacy novels from Bethany-Kris.

Really interesting seeing Cross and Catty all grown up with a kid! I loved the family scenes they had together, especially loved how Dante and Calisto are up how much their child was like him.

Both Cross and Catherine have evolved to become leaders in their business and this book is about juggling and managing that work/family balance, which I’m sure plenty of people deal with. Add in the guns, the drugs and money you got yourself the mob.

I enjoyed aspects of the book but personally I think books one and two are plenty after reading Unruly, sure it’s nice to see what they are up to now but I could have done without it.

I liked Zeke’s story in this book a lot! Hopefully we get to see the ins and outs of all of that soon!

Surprisingly the final book of this series, which features the life and love between one specific main couple - Cross and Catherine, did not start as I would have expected. The first 20% was slowly paced with Cross doing a lot of inward reflection and flashbacks, with his very spoiled, annoying three year old toddler whose baby talk/antics made me cringe every time she appeared intermixed, and three almost back to back, more crude than erotic/at times even gross smexy scenes that had me reeling at 30% wondering what was going on here. As a huge Bethany-Kris fan, I’m accustomed to her writing style, but this did not seem to mesh with what I've come to expect.

These elements combined felt like filler material I would normally come across in the middle instead of a substantial beginning. By 40%, Catherine’s drug business (which I still can’t fully wrap my mind around considering her past substance abuse) and a sub-character’s problem getting the spotlight of a pivotal plot role also just didn’t feel right. Mainly because putting your best friend's heart’s desire before famiglia’s best interests/safety usually requires they be put six feet under instead, folks. I could embrace that, however, because I am an avid romantic at heart, my fellow romance book loving friends. It, of course, set the stage for an inevitable mafioso showdown.

What was more disconcerting was Catherine discussing business openly in front of her unruly, obnoxious tot and even toting the child along with her on her drug dealing business excursions, which even someone not familiar with this genre could clearly see put the child in danger. By the time this child goes to school and is asked to recite the alphabet and a word to associate each letter, she’s likely to bring them all down, especially when she gets to the letter “C”. I’m thinking she’s going to recite names of illegal drugs instead of animals, folks. Or something like “B” is for the blood on my new dress when someone shot the nice lady I was with while mama was too busy to watch me, or “C” is for the cocaine she sells to her special friends. “D” is for the dead people I see carried away when business doesn’t go well. By the time she gets to "T" it will be about the new friend I've made who calls herself my "therapist". I'm just used to my mafia reads always making sure their bambinas are never very close to the threat of danger.

At 50%, it became more of what I’ve come to expect from this author. I did like the unusual twist of her new cartel contact though. But taking her little one once again close to the flame of danger had me thinking I was glad they were stopping at only having two children.

Ultimately dangerous, not one but three one right after the other scenarios that been plaguing them played out conveniently (though bloody, deadly, and a near miss for one of them) wrapped things up neat and tidy.

So we leave this couple for now grown up, in charge, and firmly entrenched in contributing to their mafioso livelihood and legacy, though I seriously can’t stop questioning their parenting skills.

P.S.: There seems to be some differences of opinion regarding whether this is a stand-alone or must read in order type series. Ultimately, it is up to each reader to decide. My understanding is the author meant each book to be a stand-alone. She feels she included enough backdrop when necessary to fill in gaps. Each book focuses on different time periods of this main couple's lives. It would stand to reason to get the "whole" picture one would want to read them in order. You have to ask yourself how invested you want to be in this couple's love story. Book 1 does not end with a HEA. Quite the opposite, in fact. Book 2 does. Book 3 is a continuation of their lives as they are now actively taking over their parents' mafioso role and now have children. For me personally, Book 2 was my favorite. Book 3 felt like a long epilogue though it did have quite a bit of mafia drama scenarios.

Title: Unruly - A Legacy Novel, Series: Cross + Catherine (Book 3), Author: Bethany-Kris, Pages: 333, three book series, mafia theme/drug dealing - gun running, mafia violence, very graphic/rather crude smexy scenes, HEA, romance safe.

Book 1 - Always
Book 2 - Revere
Book 3 - Unruly

This is the final book in Cross and Catherine's story.

Reading about the couple as individuals and together was a wonderful ride of ups and downs.

I truly enjoyed their story and seeing the characters develop.

I can't wait to dive into the rest of the legacy novels.

Everything that Bethany-kris writes grabs my attention and keeps me in the story. I am always captivated.

Unruly is perfection. It's a beautiful wrapped package with a lovely bow on top.

It’s kind a better sweet seeing this series come to an end. I have really enjoyed the story of Catherine and Cross. Hopefully we will get a glimpse of them in the spin offs.

Another book that was well written and a page turner. What else do you come to expect from Bethany-Kris. It was an enjoyable and quick read. The page just kept on turning. I took longer reading this book because I didn’t want it to end.

The drama was good but not unbelievable. There is a be a look of angst after all it is a crime story.
Unruly picks up three years after Cross and Catherine get’s married. Cross is still Cross has arrogant as ever, but still SEXY and SWEET. Catherine has grown. She is still stubborn, but she has come into her own. She is still learning, which is part of life. We are always learning.

I LOVE CECE!!! She is hilarious.

If you enjoy crime and mafia novels, I definitely recommend the series.

I forgot to enter here this days because of work kakskaksa but i love crosscatherine so much 😭 and i honestly think that this book doesn't need to exist... but i understand but the second one had already left many things finished.

On first book starts with them young, she is 13 and he is 15 and goes all the way up to 18-20 and second is a second chance book on their relationship, they spend years apart for a reason you understood at the end of the first. And this one the third one takes place a few years after the end of the third, the focus is on family difficulties and it focuses a lot on them as a family.

ps: i love this family so much😭

While I loved the first book, and really enjoyed the second book, this one just seemed to drag on. I liked it, I just think it could have been edited down.

It is time for the conclusion of the story of Catherine and Cross, a book that was the height of the trilogy leaving nothing to be desired. In this book we could see the evolution of these two characters and how they grew from the first book to now, primarily Catherine. This book is focused at their wedding and how they deal with their lives and prevent them to appear in your paths.

I love seeing these two facing everything together and stronger than ever. Catherine was certainly the character who more has grown and changed over the course of this trilogy, she became a strong, determined and fearless woman. And well Cross is Cross, the same boy I fell in love when she was just a teenager. And in this book we still have the cuteness of Cece who brought fun and lightness to this story.

Unruly is the final chapter of the story of Catherine and Cross, a trilogy that I love from beginning to end, but I know we will see secondary characters win your own story and I can't wait for this.

This trilogy has easily become one of my favorites now. I’m so happy Cross and Catherine really got the ending they deserved. They both have gone though so much together so coming to the end feels bittersweet. They both grew up and developed to be amazing, strong characters!!

Otro libro de Cross y Catherine yo no te lo rechazo. Sin embargo, el final de Revere me pareció que encajaba bien para terminar con la pareja, no vi necesario este libro.

Cross y Catherine llevan cinco años casados.
