Police: Man spots his stolen car, gives pursuit

NORWALK — Five hours after reporting his car stolen from a South Norwalk driveway, a man spotted his vehicle on the road and gave pursuit, police said.

On Tuesday at around 8 a.m., the man contacted police to report his Volkswagen had been stolen from his Baxter Drive driveway.

The man told officers that he had inadvertently left his keys in the ignition the night before and car doors were unlocked.

At 1 p.m. the man contacted dispatch to report that he was now following his stolen car, which was occupied to by two men, in the area of Ely Avenue.

Possibly realizing they were being followed, the stolen car was driven into a parking lot on Ely Avenue, as the car’s owner blocked them in.

The two men exited the car and took off on foot in the direction of Roodner Court.

The Norwalk Police Department’s Detective Bureau has assumed the investigation into the theft. Police say detectives are processing the car for evidence.
