Pat's Review: Total Control

Total Control by Laura Griffin
Publisher: Gallery Books (September 2, 2019)
Series: Alpha Crew, 4
Genre: Romantic Suspense (M/F)

The New York Times bestselling author of Desperate Girls and Touch of Red returns to her sizzling Alpha Crew series with this fourth thriller filled with “scorching-hot chemistry” (Kirkus Reviews) featuring a Navy SEAL who meets his match in a fierce FBI agent as they work together to take down a dangerous terrorist.

Navy SEAL Jake Heath has his eyes on Alexa Mays. The FBI Agent is whip smart and hot as hell, but she won’t give him the time of day. So, when she calls him out of blue, he thinks his luck has changed.

But instead of meeting up for a romantic dinner, Alexa needs Jake for a very different reason. Her counterterrorism team is hot on the heels of the extremist that Jake’s task force has been tracking for months, and now he’s on American soil. The only way she can take him down is with Jake’s help.

Alexa knows Jake is tough and relentless...and that the chemistry between them is electric. Although she’s risking her heart—and maybe even her career—by bringing him onto the mission, she doesn’t have another choice. Together, they’re an unstoppable and powerful team.

As the hours tick by and a lethal enemy gets closer to launching an unimaginable attack, Alexa and Jake need to fight fire with fire before the clock runs out. The only question is: will their own flames get in the way?

Pat's Review:

Another hot, action-filled and suspenseful trip into Laura Griffin’s Alpha Crew. Alexis Mays is a tough (at least on the exterior) FBI agent on a counter terrorism team. Jake Heath, Navy SEAL, met her when they worked on a case together. He wanted to know her better, she ignored his phone calls.  Never expecting her to show up seven months later at a dive bar he’s drinking at with his team, but there she is, still just as beautiful.

After a tough training mission, Jake has 72 hours of leave, and he had reluctantly agreed to go on a family camping trip with his dad and brothers, But Alexis shows up asking for help with a case, top secret, she just needs his expertise and knowledge of the suspect. First refusing, then showing up at Lexi’s home to explain, he catches someone trying to break into her home. Lexie also feels like someone has been following her. The story takes off from there.

Lexie and Jake have electric chemistry between them. That and the action really push the story. My only objection was I wanted more! The suspense was riveting and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. But through it all, we know Jake's 72 hours will soon end and he has to be back to base and another mission. Can they handle long distance, will they even try?

Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

5 STARS!
