Description

An interactive verbals sort is a great way to practice recognizing verbals (gerunds, participles, infinitives). You choose if you would like this as a PDF (for printing) or a digital download.

Students should be able to differentiate between verbals to follow punctuation rules, to write verbals, and to correct misplaced and dangling modifiers.

Included in this verbals sort:

PDF:
→ Interactive notebook pieces: gerunds, participles, and infinitives to take notes. These are folding pieces. If you do not use interactive notebooks, easily discard these!
→ 20 sentences. Students will need to cut and place each piece in the correct category.
→ An answer sheet for students to adhere the answers of the verbals sort.

→ An answer key for the verbals activity.

DIGITAL
→ You will receive a copy of a Google Slides presentation. Students will drag and drop the verbal pieces into the correct categories. Share via email or Google Classroom.

I created this verbals sort when I wanted students to have an engaging grammar activity, more than a worksheet! If you enjoy grammar sorts, this verbals sort will be a great addition to your ELA classroom!

Benefits of this verbals sort:

√ Hands-on grammar.

√ Interactive—works well with stations or group work.

√ Opportunities to draw conclusions about similarities and differences once the sort is complete.

This fun and educational grammar sort for verbals is perfect for helping students learn the differences between gerunds, infinitives, and participles. You can make this part of grammar stations, circles, or a bulletin board.

My school distract went to e-learning shortly before I was going to start the verbals unit with my students. I started looking for resources to help me teach this grammar unit digitally. I have several resources from Language Arts Classroom and did not hesitate to purchase this resource as well as the others on verbals. This resource was exactly what I needed.

This resource aided me to teach the lessons and were aligned with standards

This was very helpful for students! Very engaging!
