Snowbound. Sounds so romantic, with visions of cuddling before a roaring fire, hot chocolate spiked with brandy, and a secret elopement.
Wait. What?
My fiance's father won't stop trying to turn our pending wedding into a three-ring media circus so he can get free publicity for his family's Fortune 500 company. My mother has decided she's done with All Things Wedding and asks her teacup Chihuahua for mother-of-the-bride advice.
They've all gone certifiably mad.
Then the stress from the wedding puts my mother in the hospital, I scream at my future father-in-law in front of a camera crew and the video goes viral, and the romantic wedding that started with Andrew's grand Pride and Prejudice proposal looks less like Jane Austen and more like Dostoyevsky.
So what do you do when you're a fixer and you can't fix something? You give up on it.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 5 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French, German, and Italian, with more titles releasing in the future.
From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire in a rom com).
She also writes romantic suspense as Meli Raine, sexy shifter romances as DJ Jennings, billionaire shifters as half of the author team Diana Seere, and co-authors with Elisa Reed.
She lives in New England with her husband and three children in a household where she is the only person with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.
Our hero and heroine are finally ready to walk down the aisle. But first they have to survive Dadzilla. Our hero's dad is worse than the mother of our previous heroine. He has become a media-whore. He is determined to get as much media coverage as he can and is using their wedding with hopes of drama. Unfortunately for him our couple are not willing to play along.
Highly entertaining, Laugh Out Loud, steaming hot, Can't wait to marry you and start blazing our own path, gotta have you now romance. Not exactly sure how she does it, but this series just keeps getting better and better with each new adventure. (just when I firmly believe she can't possibly top the last one she inserts "tugging" into the normal flow of conversation.)
Amanda and Andrew’s nuptials are turned into a all out war between James, the Media and the used to be happy couple (can they be happy again). Andrew's father really needs a new hobby to take his time up now that he has stepped down as CEO and he decides he just might have a future in television... (and he is all to willing to use any means necessary) So much for a small, quite affair. Just can't get enough of this insanely fun group of people. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars. (needs like 10)
Warmth (Punny as It's December in the story *Snicker*), Crazy, & Funnies I Needed! I knew my beloved Shopping Series will make me laugh, it so did😍. DEVOURED this Cutie in 8hrs.
Amanda & Andrew are being followed by Paparazzi, EVERYWHERE they go, Courtesy Of James (his dad) wanting free publicity for his Fortune 500 company that he's not even a CEO of Now (Andrew is!). Add in the fact that Her mom don't want to do much With A+A's wedding preparations WHILE James's Totally obsessed with it (Again for free Publicity, like with what happened when Declan & Shannon Eloped!), It's Crazy & Overwhelming times.
Everything written in the blurb happens, with so much more! Resort Fun, Reminiscing, Rumors & Paparazzi, Home Estate, Friends Funny, Tugger, Family time, Stress & Media.. We see Vulnerable+Sweet Andrew & Amanda many times..Love'em! These two are so perfect for eachother *Swoon*.
The Hospital scene [Proposal to Pam(Amanda's Mom), James' Friend-zoned, A+A Standing for themselves against James' Privacy attack *Yay!*..Etc] Is So So FUN!!
I'd worried if A+A will be able to marry here..They DO❤. It's Private, Small, beautiful.. Just what they wanted *Happy Tears*. And Their Wedding Gifts to eachother.. *Fun+Swoon!*
I loved this story where Amanda+Andrew took their love to the next level, Marriage❤. I'm so excited for Shannon+Declan's Baby book Next!
Wow, what a great book; I loved this from start to finish. Congratulations, Ms. Kent on a great addition to what is in my humble opinion a fantastic series.
This is the third book which covers the continuing relationship of Amanda and Andrew who may just be my favourite couple of the series. This was an hilarious read, with many laugh out loud moments that had me almost in tears. There was smoking hot romance, humour, frustration and so many odd little moments that I wanted to re read this book again in case I missed something.
Amanda and Andrew are struggling with the plans for their impending wedding. His father wants to make it the wedding of the century and capitalize on as much publicity as he can raise, while Amanda's mother seems to be getting more stressed as the plans progress and utter chaos abounds.
The paparazzi are constantly following Andrew and Amanda trying to get comprinising photos and tension is mounting, particularly since they both handle the pressure in totally opposite ways. Throw in the competitive relationship Andrew has with his brother Declan and you know you are in for a bumpy yet hilarious ride.
Every time I finish one of these books, I desperately want to read the next one straight away. This is one of those series that is absolutely addictive, I just want more and more.
I absolutely adore Andrew and Amanda and was thrilled that they finally got to have the wedding that THEY wanted and I am eagerly awaiting the next release in the series.
This is the third book for Amanda and Andrew and the 12th book in the Shopping Series. It can be read a standalone. They are all fun, and the story will make more sense if you read Shopping for a CEO and Shopping for a CEO's Fiancée. first, if not the full series.
Between the paparazzi doing anything and everything to get photos of the happy couple to sell and Andrew's father, James, encouraging that for more publicity for their company, Anterdec, the crazy fun and laughs start at page 3 of this book. Then it just gets worse as James takes over, with the help of a hired wedding planner, all the wedding preparations until neither the bride nor groom want to attend. We get some background on the family home where the boys grew up in this book. We also see even more of Terry, Declan and Andrew competing for....well, everything. A mystery shop that goes all wrong. Amanda and Andrew get their happily ever after in the end, but they had to grab it with both hands and make it happen, together.
Didn’t I say I wasn’t reading any more of this series? I’m such a liar.
I do prefer the Amanda and Andrew stories to Declan and Shannon, they are, as characters, more nuanced and less of a caricature. This story was surprisingly gentle. Far less of the over the top ridiculousness Julia Kent is known for and more real emotion.
I'm suffering from serious story hangover here. I didn't want it to end. This was an emotional roller-coaster that I wasn't expecting, taking me through everything from laughter to tears. I'm used to the Three Stooges kind of slapstick humor of Shannon and Declan's books but this one was much more subtle. Don't be mistaken, it's still laugh-out-loud funny, but it's broken up by some big emotional moments. The sibling rivalry is so much fun to watch as the brothers try to one-up each other. Then, of course, there's James and Marie trying to out-crazy one another for the grandest wedding spectacle created. It's nice to have the quiet moments to watch the relationships grow and take a time out from the crazy. It's easy to see why Andrew and Amanda are perfect for each other. There's such a deep spiritual connection between them, besides their obvious physical connection. There's a few really important life lessons I'm going to take away from this book in the way that Andrew and Amanda treat each other. Now that they've both embraced their relationship they are fully committed to each other and nothing, and no one, is getting in the way of that. I look forward to seeing what mischief the McCormick clan gets into next. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog Shopping for a CEO’s wife is the twelfth book in Julia Kent’s Shopping for a Billionth series. I feel honoured to be able to read and review this book. I have previously always scrolled past books that list themselves as romantic comedy, but one day I decided to take a chance on a then new to me author, the one and only Julia Kent. Boy did Julia pop my romantic comedy virginity and Lordy did she pop it hard!!! To this day, after devouring every book in this series, I have only found one other author (Helena Hunting) wha has made me laugh so hard I practically wet myself. It takes a truly gifted author who can write the way Julia does, whilst creating a world I would love to actually belong to and then throw in all the madness that makes this series one of the best I have ever read. Whilst Andrew and Amanda’s lives aren't quite as over the top as Shannon and Declan’s, they do not get away unscathed mostly thanks to Andrew’s father James. Due to his underhanded actions, the results force the pair into some quite hilarious scenarios. I do not want to give away too much of the plot line, as I think everyone should definitely read this book. But I must say that the wedding ceremony was done just beautifully. Cannot recommend this book and the series enough.
Loved the book, didn't think I would ever read another of your books after that STUPIDITY of turning Declan and Shannon's Honeymoon into SUCH A DAMN DISASTER!! But because it was Amanda's and Andrew's story, I had to know if That SIZURE that caused THAT DAMN BRAINFREEZE and RUINING DECLAN'S and SHANNON'S RUN of BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORIES, (Which DAMN YOU All TO HELL I Will NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR). You mentioned Amy and Hamish, but what about poor Terry? Doesn't he deserve to have a Love for himself? And couldn't you allow Amanda's Father to get a parole and beg for forgiveness from her mom, and Amanda and they become complete family again? And finally, how about having pity on poor James, and letting him finally realize what he has done to his family, and finds True Love at last and all is forgiven for all he had done. He even talks Andrew into letting Terry be a co CEO and they all become a complete Loving family, (Even Spritzy gets a girl friend). And Last but not least make up for your BRAINFREEZE STUPIDITY, And LET SHANNON and DECLAN HAVE A 2nd HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON. Then I might FINALLY FORGIVE THE HURT YOU CAUSED ME. Hopefully, my E-MAIL to you will explain that.
I thought the series will never escalate into much bizarreness and craziness after so many books but I have been proven time and time again that I am so wrong. This time round I was educated about restoration of skin. Not that I particularly want to know, but yay to.. uh.. gain in knowledge?
I enjoyed the nostalgic and reminiscing side of Andrew. He never really spoken about his mother because of what had happened which resulted in an estranged relationship with his father. Speaking about his father, I really dislike James. He is a pain in a butt. I can't believe he He and Marie are too freaking similar.
Amanda and Andrew were really cute. With James trying to make a spectacle out of their wedding, they decided not to care about it. I loved it every time they had heart-to-heart talk about their parents, and their future.
“Dec!” Andrew calls back. “Get Gerald here. We have a pap in the bush.” “That’s what I get once a year at the gynecologist,” Shannon says, giving me a very bewildered look. “Paparazzi. Not a pap Smear.” “Oh! Yeah, no. I don’t have one of those in my hoo haw.” She frowns. “Not yet, at least.”
With conversations like that scattered throughout this book, on almost every page, it’s hard not to love Julia Kent’s writing style. Just sayin’. I devoured the first five books in this series and couldn’t get my hands on the following books quickly enough. I had read them all and was anxiously waiting for others to be released. I read through book eleven about a year ago and then took a break. Not really sure why, but I did. I picked it back up last night and have been smiling (OK, laughing) ever since.
If you haven’t experienced this series you need to pick it up. It’s one of the funniest, irreverent, and totally entertaining rom-coms I’ve ever read.
This time, Andrew's father took the role of parentzilla, when it came to Andrew and Amanda's wedding.
I listened to the Audiobook which was narrated by Any McFadden, and she did an excellent job. Ofte, some female narrators, voicing male characters, can take you completely out of the momemt. (This case often be the same for male narrators voicing female characters.)
Not so with this narrator. She captured the wit, the sarcasm, the humor, the anger, anguish, disapproval, the sense of outrage, support, and sometimes the downright hilarity of each chart and moment in the book.
I like Dec and Shannon, but Andrew and Amanda have come to be my favorite couple. One of the best scenes was when Amanda confronted James. Another was the whole "tugging" conversation. I mean, "Who knew?"
A really enjoyable listen. Especially during this not so light hearted period of mandatory social distancing. A book to help really lift your spirits. 4.5 stars.
Guess kinda disappointed in the book it seems like all Amanda talked about and worried about was always the money 60 percent of book was about money. James drove me nuts. Yes Andrew does nothing to stop it. The wedding itself was weird and Shannon or Declan came really Andrew never told them but yet her Mom. The hospital scene would never happen paparazzi or film crews are allowed in hospital wards ever. And security came what 15 min later and people taping this sorry this would never happen ever , and her mom wakes up and cameras are on her really nope this story really was a flop for me . I never even laughed . Only thing I like was Declan and Andrew competing , wish we would get a Terry story. Oh well not sure why this just was not as good and Andrew was constantly saying he was the ceo OK we get it.
Thank you to Goodreads for this opportunity and free book. Thank you to Julia Kent for the personalized autographed copy!!! This is a quick, fun read. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is it's not exactly a stand alone book. This was my first Julia Kent book, but will not be the last!!! I will likely be reading this entire series now. I had no idea the concept of tugging exsited!!! That was eye opening! I had to laugh when I got to the part about the dick pics... I mean, come on!! Who hasn't been busted at work talking about something that is inappropriate and not work related!!! Hilarious!!! I found it a little predictable, but enjoyed the book!!!
If you're looking for a funny, light-hearted read -- contains a little smut, I would definately recommend this book!!!

Their romance in the series has become my favorite. They are committed to each other in a mature way, working together to resolve problems. This is the 12 book in the series that I’ve read and I have not fully enjoyed all of them but I can say that I loved this one. It was filled with so much heart and feeling. Julia Kent is an excellent writer creating poetic prose that are filled with wisdom and truisms that make you laugh. Her characters can be realistic or they can appear as caricatures such as the overly manic Marie, or emotionally chronically stressed Shannon. But she captures a very stabile emotional personality with Andrew and Amanda. Yes they have emotional baggage, but they share and carry their burdens together. I find their stories a little more enjoyable and their troubles less repetitive. On to 13.
This is the twelfth in the series. Amanda & Andrew are engaged but the wedding being planned isn’t their own. Everyone is a victim of Dadzilla. James is trying to get free publicity for a company he no longer is CEO. His youngest son, Andrew is the CEO. Paparazzi is everywhere. The couple and family members cannot have any privacy anywhere.
I loved that it bit James in the behind at the hospital. Loved that Pam placed him in the friend zone.
I read/listen to these books because I can count on laughter, entertainment, and a raucous good time. I enjoy hearing about the rich and what seems to be of concern to them. I’m glad for people like Pam and Amanda that can put it into perspective.
Continue on Julia Kent, you entertain me and I love it. It does get a bit steamy in some places but I love the LOL parts and the sweet parts. A true Rom-Com. Keep them coming.
Amanda's humor is different than Shannon's but this book still had me roaring during my commute as they discussed 'tugging' (is that really a thing? .... why yes it does appear to be so *shudder*).
I also had a moment of nostalgia/deja vu over the Yes album incident. My wife and I did something similar one Christmas, both unknowingly gifting each other a piece of the same Vermont craftsman's woodwork. She drove hours to Vermont and back to buy her piece [Amanda style], I ordered over the phone and had it shipped [Andrew style]. We were mutually surprised when we unwrapped our gifts to each other.... and then the artisan sent us both a letter after Christmas because he had figured it out.
Andrew may be Declan's younger brother, but his and Amanda's upcoming nuptials will be just as high profile if James McCormick has his say. But Amanda just wants to remain low key, even if it's only for a fleetingly moment longer. The antics are at the expense of Amanda and are a barrel of laughs, until they're not. The sweet side of romance and the bitter side of life and reflection join together to round out this romantic and comedic addition to the Shopping Series. As an added bonus, I listened to the audiobook as well. Amy McFadden is a spot-on narrator for Amanda's personality and does an amazing job in bringing this story to life.
Amanda & Andrew are finally making it down the aisle - or are they, because with James McCormick on his high horse trying to run the show, it's a close call!!!
The head McCormick has taken it upon himself to use this wedding as advertisement for their business, he's trampling over everything and even Pam has given up and decided she'll talk to her dog instead!
How Amanda lasted as long as she did is beyond me! That man would have you bald in no time - but there's no denying it's hilarious!!!
Amanda and Andrew are so freaking suited, they're adorable and I love the banter in this book. It's filled with mayhem and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!
In typical Kent style Andrew and Amanda’s engagement brings out the crazies as James insists on 1500 wedding guests and hires a wacky wedding planner with outrageous ideas. Andrew and Amanda’s privacy is a thing of the past with each encounter proving more invasive and downright dangerous. I have to admit that the male anatomy storyline is way over the top but I do enjoy Andrew’s testosterone laden sex drive and Amanda’s willingness to indulge him. In the middle of the chaos the brotherly competition is hilarious, Amanda and Andrew’s love grows exponentially, and the delightful narration of Amy McFadden is absolute 5 star perfection.
*I was given this book to read via ARC to provide my honest opinion.
It's so nice to see another HEA in this series apart from Shannon and Declan. Andrew and Amanda have a great story and while it's a little crazy it's not near as crazy as Shannon and Declan's. Their love story is truly amazing and heartwarming. This is a great addition to the series but just fell flat for me in some places. I am always happy in the end and enjoy the addition to the story line. I am always ready for the next book in any Julia Kent series and will eagerly await more.
Julia Kent has outdone herself. Shopping for a CEO's Wife is book 12 in a series and it is hands down the funniest and wow moment book I have ever read. This story is about Amanda and Andrew and how their parents want them to get married. I guarantee you will be laughing so hard and reaching for tissues the next during this book. I seriously can not imagine how Amanda gets herself and her co workers into situations that are not only a wow moment but too funny for words. Julia Kent, you are an amazing writer, thank you.
4 stars I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Shopping for a CEO's Wife (Shopping for a Billionaire Book 12) Andrew and Amanda by Julia Kent and this review was given freely. In Julia Kent's over the top descriptive way, She relays the story of the lead up to Amanda and Andrew's wedding and their struggle with the paparazzi, who are being guided by James' desire for publicity at all costs. The novel is half intimate scenes and a fair amount of disputes but overall a good story line with a happy ending.
This "Shopping for....." book is number 12 in a series. This is the first one I have read in the series and will be my last. Why? Sex, sex, and more sex. Explicit sex. It starts out that way and ends that way. I read the whole book even though I was tempted to put it down. But the intertwining stories kept me engaged at different intervals. It's hard to believe that billionaires actually live the way it was depicted, but then I don't know any billionaires, so maybe so.
I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads Giveaway.
I just love Julia Kent's writing style! This book is another wonderful masterpiece in my eyes! I just love the Shopping series!! It's hard to say what part of the book was my favorite! I just love the characters so much! Her books are a great distraction from life and I highly recommend this series! Thank you Julia for another wonderful book!!
Another great book in the Shopping for a Billionaire series. Julia Kent has continued the stories to even more hilarious antics. It’s nice to see that Amanda and Andrew are finally getting their HEA. But of course the competition between the brothers Declan and Andrew make for laugh out loud moments. I highly recommend reading the series, much love and humor. Can’t wait for Shopping for a Billionaires Baby. 😍
WOW.....................I just wanted to jump in this book and kick James ass! I felt really bad for Amanda and Andrew....what an asshole for a father and a father in law. But I laughed, I cried, and was pissed, that at a time in a girls life, when it was suppose to be sacred and sentimental, it was just ruined and tainted. I’m glad they got to do things their way. Loved it and can’t wait to read what’s next. Exceptional.
