18 DAYS TO RACE DAY...

Hello riders. It might have been a holiday weekend in the nation's capital, but we did not have our feet up – no siree Bob! We completed the Mont 24 Course (creating a new link up to Seismic Road called Timmy), spent a couple of days fashioning fine event trophies from old bike parts, sent the race plates off for manufacture, sent artwork for the Steam Sauce bottle to Crowley's Hot Sauce and the Steam Kow T-Shirts are being printed this week.

We are now planning out the final weeks before we see your bright and shiny faces at the starting line.
The course will be released on Kowalskis Trail Buddy any day now along with the new Zoo Pines (see below).
Read the rest of this newsletter so you are across what we have in store for the event weekend.
Judging by the food services we have on offer, you may want to leave the esky at home...

FRIDAY EVENT, PUMP TRACK & SKILLS AREA

We are putting some shine on the Pump Track this week and will usher in the race weekend with a pump track event on Friday evening. We will also be installing the timber ramps and rollers created by James and Des Kowalski for use at the event centre. To keep you informed about the event weekend, we'll send out a newsletter or two before race day. Not sure what to expect at the race? Go HERE for the video. Ride the Kow!

THAT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS MYSTERY...

Daylight savings ends while the race is underway, which means the race will officially end at 11am.
Now, does that mean you get to ride for only 23 hours? Hell no – we just slowed your dawn lap right down!

STROOPWAFEL FOR EVERY RIDER...

Stroopwafel is a Dutch-style syrup waffle that acts like an energy gel, but tastes like breakfast. It’s the answer to what to eat in the morning before training, or more to the point – what you could eat before you head out to post your best lap time. Gu Energy have put Stroopwafel in team race bags this year.
Stroopwafel will be available for purchase at the GU Tent at Race HQ

KIDS ENTER ON THE DAY!

Yes, the Kow Kids Race is more important than the one Mum or Dad are doing. Just bring your bike, helmet and your fanciest Kow horns (or cycle pants) and we'll let you loose on a specially designed 'kids-only' track.
While kids can register on the day, we do need to get a handle on numbers. If your little ankle biker wants to ride in the Kow Kids Race – Let us know HERE

MEET TEAM LEVO

We have an ebike category at this year's Mont 24 and four teams will be riding Specialized Turbo Levo MTBs, quietly turning out laps using pedal-assisted human effort. If you are e-curious, you have an opportunity to try one out for yourself. Team Levo will be in front of the Charge Tent at Race HQ – hit them up!.

STEAM WRENCHING...

Bike Culture will be working like icons of the industrial era right through the event weekend to make sure your bike runs like a well oiled machine. If your bike needs love, see Brent, Caz and the other workers and they'll blow the steam whistle and crank the levers into action... Fully stocked shop too.

Trophies
TRASH INTO TROPHIES DAY

The annual Kowalski Trash into Trophies Day was held on Saturday. Kowalski's James, Dave, Chris and I spent the day transforming boxes of formerly high-end cycle porn in to objects of competitive art. Some were easy to realise while others took ages to perfect. Arrange a few together and we've almost got a whole bike again.
