Jennifer Aniston in Versace at the Oscars: slinky & surprisingly great?

I’m actually a little bit surprised that Jennifer Aniston avoided the Oscars red carpet – she was nowhere to be seen on any of the preshows, I’m pretty sure. Then she just turned up inside. It surprises me because… I actually think this might be the best dress she’s ever worn to the Oscars, and she should have posed in it on the carpet! This gown is Versace and it’s very slinky and sexy and flattering. Not so flattering? The fact that her cheeks seem completely frozen. Yikes.

Here’s Karlie Kloss at the Oscars – she wore this half-caped Stella McCartney gown and a blue ACLU ribbon, which is notable because she’s dating Jared Kushner’s brother, after all.

And here’s Karlie Kloss doing the va-va-voom thing at the Vanity Fair party. This dress is Naeem Khan and I love it.

Jennifer’s wearing a black dress and Justin’s wearing a skinny tie? I’m SHOCKED.

    • almondmilk says:

It looks like something Cher would have worn by Bob Mackie in the 70s. The orange housewives tan that she has never given up only adds to the cheese.

I still think if somehow she had been blessed with better acting chops, she could have shared the screen with Dustin Hoffman as some kind of relative. Their resemblance is uncanny.

I had no idea she was even there. Did the cameras even pan to her? Not surprised she skipped the red carpet. People that aren’t even presenting let alone nominated are probably frowned on by event managers from clogging red carpets.

      • almondmilk says:

Sorry am just now reading she presented In Memoriam segment. That’s appropriate for her career. Must have missed Sara Bareilles opening intro by her.

Her husband and she vacation with the Jimmy Kimmels, are very good friends (I think it’s more thu Theroux than her) – probably there for moral support for him, and he got her a gig presenting.

I agree with the other posters, when you find out out your presenting the mourning/memoriam segment, that selection of dress is indeed inappropriate. Dumb choice. She’s always trying to overcompensate due to her own insecurities. Tim Gunn once said she emanates desperation. I know what he means.

The ‘figure skater’ nude (orange) panel netting which she dyed her skin tone to match makes it not as slinky and risqué as it seems, it still looks like a Bob Mackie Vegas show girl gown

      • AnnaKist says:

Oh, my, almondmilk, it’s 1:45am and I’m still up with a cup of tea and some anaretti, which I was in serious danger of choking on while reading your hilarious comments! I know absolutely nothing about all this fashiony stuff, but am enjoying all the comments, and happy to not see – on this story, at least – any of the ladies’ knickers, and worse, someone’s peachie.

      • Den says:

She was featured on the show including the tourist segment. It clearly pains you but Jennifer Aniston is beloved both by colleagues and the general public. Going by the GG ceremony, it appears Brad is too. You should perhaps direct your energies to loving whoever you love instead of this bitterness. It must surely be time consuming and exhausting for you to have type two comments with the same bitter vibe.

      • YepIsaidit says:

Den, woody Allen is loved by the industry too. What’s your point?

      • @yepisaidit says:

That comparison is fair and definitely not a huge huge huge leap in logic.
Yes, a man like Woody Allen is comparable to Jennifer Aniston. People liking Aniston is compared to people liking Allen.
Did Aniston, do something I’m not aware of?

        Wow. Wow.
The hate for a woman whose worst offense is having questionable fashions, and being involved in a messy situation YEARS ago, is really really over blown.

      • YepIsaidit says:

First of all why are you using my name to reply to me? 👀

Second. I wasn’t really comparing the two. I was pointing out the fact that who the industry likes doesn’t really matter because they like perverts. Casey affleck won for crying out loud. Hollywood are hypocrites crying about that fat orange perverted man in office but voting for perverts to win their awards. Hollywood is a joke and I’d rather be hated by them. It’s not a good look to be loved by that industry.

        3rd. use your own name.

      • Den says:

Certain people do their fandom such a diservice. It is possible for you to worship whoever you worship without showing up to a completely separate actors page to pour bitter vibes. The rest of us human beings generally dont respond well to behavior like this and our dislike of the fanbase transfers onto their queen. No wonder her unpopularity is hitting such low lows that she is having to hire a PR professional to fix it. You guys would do well to stop this type of brigading. Or dont….and see how that helps you.

      • Mildred Pierce says:

        @Den
She is so beloved in Hollywood that her peers give her accolades and great movie roles.
I feel sorry for the hated ones who have no Oscars and are never nominated or offered roles.
Oh how I’d like a love like than.

      • Lady D says:

“Sorry am just now reading she presented In Memoriam segment. That’s appropriate for her career.”
        That was seriously funny, almondmilk:)

      • mary mary says:

I think Jennifer Aniston looks great.

It is in the eye of the beholder.

      • Megan says:

I kind of admire Jean’s hustle. She is not a great actress and her star would have faded years ago if she hadn’t kept herself out there. Sure, she plays the game, but why not? She’s good at it.

      • YepIsaidit says:

Den, I’m actually a fan of Jennifer and Justin. I think he’s the one who has the talent but I don’t mind Aniston in her rom coms. Hollywood liking her doesn’t mean anything good though. I don’t think I’m hurting her career. Lmao calm down.

      • Butterscotch says:

Aren’t you always going on and on about feminism and how womeb shouldn’t attack each other and here you are once again bashing anistons looks?
How typical you didn’t bother to comment on any of the other dresses.
You are waaayyyy to obsessed with aniston.
Funny instead of attacking her flops you always insult her looks.
What’s that about women tearing down other women?
        Girl bye
Try and be a better person

    • Carol says:

I am waiting for her to shock the world with a hairstyle that ISN’T straight, highlighted, flat ironed hair, parted down the middle. For crying out loud Jennifer! Enough!

      • Amanda says:

Her body looks fantastic, but don’t hold your breath for her to change her hair.
She is too set in her ways
I think she would look much better as a brunette.

    • LoveShoes says:

PLEASE tell Jennifer to do something, anything different with her hair. I am sick and tired of the same hairstyle!

  2. Mar says:

    Finally some good fashion

  3. Guest says:

What has she done to her face?

    • Sullivan says:

Good question. Her face looks off.

    • Leigh says:

It looked really puffy when she was presenting, probably lots of fillers and botox. It wasn’t helped by her hair looking really terrible (it looks far better in these photos than it did onstage), it was flat on her head and the ends look really dry. May be time for a change from her signature hair.

      • GoOnGirl says:

Now now people. we all know she has done nothing to her face. She said it herself, her husband would kill her if she did. Just her natural beauty shining through.

    • FuefinaWG says:

She’s kind of giving off a Barbra Streisand face vibe … and not in a good way.

    • ravensdaughter says:

      I still think she’s preggers!

  4. paolanqar says:

Jennifer Aniston looked amazing. Her face looks weird so I guess age is finally catchin up with her but that dress is great on her.
I can’t stand Karlie Kloss but she looks awesome in that red dress.

    • Josephine says:

I disagree. The dress was very unflattering on her chest and her hair was probably the worst I have ever seen. Softer hair would have been so much more appropriate, as would a dress that allows more support. The plunge to the belly looks good on almost no one, and unfortunately, not her. I was disappointed, especially considering how many good dresses were out there.

      • nemera77 says:

yeah I didn’t like this on her at all. It makes her look buffy for some reason. and the makeup and hair were not styled at all. Looked like she just threw it on and went. She has looked better.

      • paolanqar says:

        Really?
I wonder if we’re looking at the same pics because she looks pretty amazing to me!

      • Snowflake says:

I think she looks great too. Very toned, i am always envious of her body. Her hair looks bad though

    • minx says:

      Karlie looked beautiful!

  5. tracking says:

Eh, too much skin imo. Not that she doesn’t have the body for it, but I would have gone with slinky+high slit, and less decolletage. Wavy hair would have been more glamorous with the dress.

Did Karlie Kloss cut one arm off of Goop’s white caped dress from a few years back?

    • lightpurple says:

Way too much skin for doing the Memoriam.

      • JudyK says:

Agree with you both. That shiny red dress worn by Karlie Kloss was far sexier and more appropriate than Jennifer’s dress.

      • astrid says:

Less is not always more. Karlie’s slinky dress is way sexier

      • lucy2 says:

I think it’s a great dress on her, but agree it’s not great for presenting the In Memoriam.

      • original kay says:

hey! where are the posters that tell you you can’t have an opinion on the amount of skin, boobs or otherwise, that people show?
        it demonizes women, apparently.

No worries, I am a demonizer too, apparently, because I don’t like the plunging neckline dresses.

LP, don’t try to front, we know just what you are. Demonizer.

        **giggles***

    • LadyT says:

Yes to the wavy hair. Her hairline looked alarmingly wiggish with that center part and flat straight hair.

      • GoOnGirl says:

I have never liked her hair cause it’s like you can see where the extensions are attached. I think her hair boy, by now, would be able to do a better job.

    • M says:

Agree. One or the other but not both boobs and high slit. And the same boring hair. Not a fan of this look esp for her role there

  6. minx says:

JA has that same tan, same center parted beachy hair.

    • NotSoSocialButterfy says:

I am so tired of that awful hairstyle, and center parts are unflattering, especially for her.

      • minx says:

It draws attention to her nose. She would look so much better with a shorter, somewhat fuller, side-parted do.

      • Moneypenny says:

Yeah, not a flattering hairstyle at all for her. Pulled back or with some wave would’ve been much better.

    • Carmen says:

Same version of the dress she always wears with the slit up to there and hasn’t she had that hairstyle since 1995? God, that woman is such a crashing bore…

    • I Choose Me says:

Yes! Good gorram. Her hair is awful. She’s an attractive woman, I don’t know why she sticks with this flat, thin center parted look that is both dated and does her no favours. I do like the dress though.

    • L84Tea says:

I so wish she would go dark brunette like she had in Horrible Bosses. She looked gorgeous that way.

  7. Sarah says:

Karlie looked great, I love both dresses.

  8. slowsnow says:

I dunno. It’s the same with Vikander. JA always wears some boring black dress and Theroux is not into high fashion. I would never say this is a great look but it’s not offensive either.

Kloss is a snoozefest for me no matter what she wears. I don’t know why and it pains me to say it. She’ s selling but I would never buy. Go figure.

  9. Cerys says:

Jennifer’s dress was nothing special. it is much the same as any of her other dresses – sleeveless, low cut and a thigh split – and the usual hair style. Her face seemed more frozen than usual. An overdose of botox, I think.

  10. Esmom says:

Aniston looks great but I think her hair looks better with a side part.

Love Kloss’s red dress. The white one is a little too Goop from that one year.

    • almondmilk says:

I think her eyes look not so close together with a side part. The middle part is just like a big arrow to that cyclops effect.

      • AnnaKist says:

OK, almondmilk, you need to stop. I’m almost gagging on my (extra) amaretti, and my stomach is aching from laughing so hard! Nevertheless, thank you for the much-needed giggles. 😂

      • BrandyAlexander says:

@Aalmondmilk. Wow. For someone who spends all her time on Angelina posts claiming anyone who says anything slightly negative about her hates women, your comments here trashing a woman’s for the way she looks are pretty gross. One could even say they come off as pretty misogynistic, considering you give her no other worth than what she looks like.

      • Lalu says:

Brandy… Some people will never let it go.
You know Anniston made the mistake of marrying a certain man and came between the greatest love story of our time.
She should have known he was going to one day be the ex husband of a certain other actress.

      • aang says:

I’m no fan of JA and I loathe Friends but I think she looks great here. The hate is too much. Time to let it go.

      • Josephina says:

“Oh, the hate is too much!” Goodness.

Commenters are talking about her bone straight, straw-like hair and how it is NOT the best look for her. If you think she is pretty then you may also agree that this hairstyle is not the best hairstyle to accentuate her best features as of late. If you think this is her best look, then you may have missed photos in the earlier years. The color and length of this hairstyle would look fabulous on a younger looking woman, preferably taller, even better with someone with paler skin.

Someone earlier said soft waves would look nice. I think the highlights are a little too light for her complexion.

      • Amanda says:

Damn you are a massive hypocrite and insult to Angie fans everywhere
        Almondmilk
Aren’t you going on and on and on and on in her threads about how women shouldn’t hate other women and should be better people and here you are savagely attacked a women’s looks
You really need help and to be a better person
Don’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk

  11. Susan says:

JA’s hair is boring as sh!t.

  12. MunichGirl says:

Jen’s hairstyle is boring and didn’t do her any favors.

  13. SusanneToo says:

I loathe those slit to the waist/pubes gowns. Ugly, ugly, ugly. And very unflattering.

    • Lady D says:

Ditto all the see-through dresses. Getting a little tired of looking at a steady stream of T&A disguised as “high fashion” What’s next, showing up with a strip of sparkly material between the legs? A few ropes or chains artfully draped? Perhaps a strip of lace across the eyes to protect the wearer’s modesty while rocking a strip of gauze? I mean seriously, they are running out of ways to shrink dresses to nothing.

      • Veeve says:

        Lady D
I’m on a train commuting to work. That comment cracked me up the whole bottom carriage is looking at me . I can’t stop laughing. Thank you

  14. molly says:

Why is this woman’s hair talked like it is so special? Her hair is bloody awful. She wears a nice dress with horrible straight straw hair.

    • Snowflake says:

It’s not anymore, i dont think. When she was on Friends, she had some nice hairstyles. I think that’s where it comes from

  15. original kay says:

huh. Is Jen doing the “leg”?

Why was karlie there? She reminds me of Jessica Rabbit.

Love the white dress and ACLU ribbon.

  16. Tray says:

I like Aniston’s dress, but she really needs a hair makeover. So vanilla. Kloss looks great but she has not lived down the yellowface debacle.

  17. lightpurple says:

Hasn’t Aniston worn this same dress with identical styling at least 1 million times before? And sorry, but I don’t think that much skin was appropriate while presenting the memorial segment.

  18. Gene123 says:

I feel like we see Karlie’s white dress on every red carpet. I wish she had worn the red one on the carpet instead

  19. Odell says:

Guess the reason why she was invited was her bff Jimmy Kimmel.

  20. Tulip Garden says:

I love this dress and the slinkiness of it. I do wish her hair was curled, side-parted, or something. Overall tho, I really like this and Jen wears it very well.
I want to age like Halle and Jen!

  21. Mikasa says:

Sry to say but I really fail to see the chemistry between Justin and Jennifer.

  22. justsaying says:

    Her face looks different…

  23. JaneDoesWork says:

LOVE both of Karlie’s dresses. I actually thought she was one of the best dressed of the night at BOTH the main event and the after party. Good for her.

I really like Aniston’s gown but her hair and makeup fell completely flat to me. There’s just not enough going on.

  24. QQ says:

Is she storing nuts for winter in her cheeks?!? Sheesh! …also this is a good Jennifer aniston wears a black dress with hair parted down the middle cusromary dress

  25. Sage says:

Jennifer has a perfect figure and the dress is one of the bests she’s worn. Her two tone hair color and dark tan give off an Iggy Pop vibe. Still, she looks good, healthy and content.

Karlie looks glam in the red dress!

  26. Prince says:

    America’s Fake Sweetheart.

  27. amy says:

Her cheeks are about to burst, reminds me of Kate Middleton – Botox and fillers.

  28. serena says:

Jennifer’s dress is good but her hairstyle ruins it all.

  29. Evyn says:

The bad thing about showing that much skin, is that people can see your plastic surgery scars. Pretty sure that’s an implant scar under her boob, and she’s had a “knee lift.”

    • AnnaKist says:

Oooooh, I don’t pay such close attention to these things, so scrolled back up to have a better look. I think you’re right, Evyn. Not a fan of JA, and never have been, because in my opinion, her acting and looks are overrated.

  30. S says:

Her body looks amazing, as always, but her face was … Really, really weird, especially in close-ups, and I’d betcha anything that’s why she didn’t walk the carpet. It was extremely distracting! Whatever she’s done most recently is still settling in, and she knows it. It’s also possible that age is finally meeting reality with her and the spray-tan, beach blonde, parted down the middle, stick straight hair is no longer working for Aniston as closes in on 50.

This does NOT mean that older women can’t be, and aren’t, beautiful. It is the holding on to youth with both hands, in denial of actual facts that is unattractive; not the act of getting older. It is perfectly fine to be 50; as long as you’re not still pretending you’re 25. Grace and self-confidence, equal beauty, and I’m afraid Aniston seems lacking in the former two as she instead continues to insist that time for her stands still … Despite all evidence to the contrary, and an army of doctor’s attempts to bend it to her will.

    • Karen says:

So boring and predictable. Never takes chances. And that hair! So flat and lifeless. She is not a fashion icon.

    • AnnaKist says:

Yours are great comments and an excellent assessment of this ingrained youth culture that so many women have locked themselves into. I’ve never been into any of that, and dressed to my (short and curvy) stature – wanting to look nice, of course, but never trying to be or hold onto something I’m not. I can only imagine how JA and women like her, so desperate in a futile attempt to hold on to their youth, go about each day, knowing that’s another day gone and another closer to elderliness. It exhausts me to even think about it, and reminds me of part of a song from my favourite band:
      “Cryogenic methods are intractable
and collagen polymers aren’t so terrible,
But they still can’t prevent the inevitable farewell…
      A simple chronophobia…”

    • Sullivan says:

      Well said!

    • Coco says:

Ffs what is the obsession with women’s hair? So much ingrained misogyny , she can wear her hair as long and blond as she wants…How is that trying to look young.

  31. Freddy Spaghetti says:

If I looked like Jennifer Aniston–we are about the same age–I’d so wear a dress like that! Her arms look amazing, her *reasts are where mine were ages ago, and again, if I looked like that, I’d flaunt it!

  32. Deedee says:

That dress looks cheap with the nude panel between the V of her dress.

  33. lucy2 says:

I like Karlie’s two dresses, she wears the white one well but it reminds me too much of Goop’s.

  34. robyn says:

Mean tweets … Jennifer sure gets her share of them. I think she looks lovely and is appropriately dressed in black with enough sparkle to remind us of the brightness and beauty of the lives lost.

  35. Jess says:

Her face looks bad and I thought the dress was dull. Overall, very cheezy Desperate Housewives if you ask me. And I loved Karlie’s red dress. Wow.

  36. Joannie says:

I thought the dress was fine but Jennifer needs to let go of the flat iron look hair. It’s outdated and does her no favours.

  37. shopgirl says:

JA looks like a wax figure of Barbra Streisand

  38. I Choose Me says:

I am loving Karlie’s vavavoom red dress.

  39. Rocio says:

It’s the best she’s looked and she’s been looking amazing lately so whatever she’s doing is absolutely working.

  40. Cherrypie says:

Kloss is so…. bland. She lacks….personality

  41. chloe says:

I liked both of Karlie’s dresses and Jen’s was okay, I would have like it better if it was a different color. I think Jen has started messing with her face way to much, plus the part down the middle straight hair has got to go.

  42. Blackcat says:

    ^^^ Lucy2
Yes Karlie vibing Goop’s Tom Ford dress.

  43. Chelly says:

I loved her dress but when she was on stage i just kept staring at her face…those close ups especially showed that like the rest of us, Jen is aging! Shocking! I’m sure she hated any part of her face being shown up close & personal…god forbid we should see celebs age & their fight to prevent it

  44. Anastasia says:

    Stick straight hair: check
    Unflattering middle part: check
Same old type of dress: check
    Lack of personality: check

    Must be Jennifer Aniston.

  45. Nimbolicious says:

I love her style. To me, the dress works for her and flatters her bangin’ bod.

  46. Twinkle says:

Jennifer did not look good. The hair looks glued to her head. The dress is too sexpot and trashy.

    • LaMaitresse says:

I agree, the dress was too much plunge and too much slit, and beads on top. A touch Vegas showgirl and not alluring for an awards show. Plus what ever “non invasive plastic surgery that doesn’t count as plastic surgery” hadn’t settled on her face, and it looked bloated and masculine, a wavy, softer hair and some more defined make up may have helped.

  47. khaveman says:

Stunning, se$y dress and it photographs very well. Her face is strange, I agree with the comments, and I really think her hair looks super flat. I would have loved to see her wear it some other way??

  48. Matahari says:

    Dang, she looks good!

  49. L says:

    Meh on both.

  50. poppy says:

    dear ja
the 90s+goop called. they want their overly ironed, center-parted extensions back.

seriously, she had better hair in the 90s. those cuts made her hair look fuller and flatteringly framed her face. don’t care if it got on her nerves to have a very copied hairstyle. people wanted her hairdo hoping it would do for them what it did for her. pretty great indication the hair was right, so right for her face and hair texture. smh.

  51. Zucchini says:

Jen, apart from her frozen face, looks really good and toned and fit. She and JT look very happy. She seems to be nervous or distracted whenever it comes time to present – this was true of her ’09 turn when she had to do it right in front of her ex (sorry to bring up BP in a Jen Aniston thread).

  52. Juliet- says:

Good God, Jennifer’s style is so painfully boring. Always the same California bunny dresses and that limp flat ironed hair. We get it, you look great for your age. Just try something different for once.

I used to like Karlie when she first came on the fashion scene but she strikes me as one of those girls who were negatively affected by celebrity. I used to find her very sweet and genuine but lately she’s been giving off a really smug vibe. The red carpet dress is basically that white TF Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the Oscars some years ago with a slightly different cut. And the red one is so meh.
