  • ALAMO ELEMENTARY LITERACY WEEK, MARCH 20-24, 2017: A great week of activities are planned for our children - see the schedule below. Also, the school needs donations of books (grades K to 5) that will be used for the Book Exchange during Literacy Week. Bring donations to the auditorium through Wednesday, March 22nd. Volunteers who can assist kids in picking a book are needed. Please email patriciayuen@hotmail.com with Name, Contact Number, and time you can help out on March 24th.

  • Monday, March 20th: Presentation by Tim & Peanut Harper in the Alamo Auditorium
    2 assemblies: K-2 (1:10-1:40 pm) AND 3-5 (1:45-2:15)
    The following books written by John Wooden focused on blocks from his pyramid of success; Heroes of Beesville (cooperation), Adventure Underground (hard work) and Fiesta (enthusiasm) are being purchased by the PTA for the Library.
  • Tuesday, March 21st: Literacy Night
    Help your child become a better reader using online resources you can share at home. Parents with their student(s) are invited to attend a presentation/tutorial with Ms. Thormann, our librarian, and Mrs. Chin, our technology specialist.
    Visit the library between 5-6:00 pm. Laptops will be provided. Light refreshments will be provided by the Alamo PTA.
    Activity tables for students to do with their families will be in the Cafeteria from 5:30-6:30 pm.

  • Wednesday, March 22nd: Read Across America
    (Nationally celebrated on March 2nd with Dr. Seuss’ Birthday-rescheduled due to parent teacher conference week)
    Guest readers are invited to come to your class and read aloud. There is something powerful about a policeman, firefighter, civic leader, doctor, professional personality, high school quarterback, or grandmother sharing their love for reading. Be sure and ask your guests to talk about why reading is important in their lives and about their favorite books when they were kids.   • Friday, March 24th: Alamo Annual Book Exchange, in the School Library
    Bring a gently used book and exchange it for a different title. If you don’t have any books you are ready to part with don’t worry - every Alamo student is welcome to take a book home.

  • CMI HITS THE GREENS! Spring is here. Time to dust off those clubs and drive the fairways with CMI! Join us on Saturday, May 6th @ Presidio Golf Course as CMI presents...The Alamo Golf Tournament. Spaces are limited. RSVP soon to: alamocmi2015@gmail.com. See flier for details.

  • GREEN SCHOOL YARD DAY CANCELLED: There will NOT be a green school yard work day this Saturday. Stay tuned for the next event.
  • PIZZA FOR A CAUSE (ALAMO): On Monday, April 10th, Paxti's Pizza on Irving Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues) is partnering with the Alamo community.  Paxti's will donate 10% of sales for the entire day to our school. This includes dine-in, delivery or carry out. ENJOY some appetizers, flatbreads, salad and pizza and help raise money for our school. https://www.patxispizza.com/Location/Irving

  • SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL (SSC): The Alamo School Site Council is soliciting names to participate in the Site Council election for the 2017-2018 school year. Click HERE for more information or email questions to SSC President Sean Glaub at Seananderi@hotmail.com
  • FREE PIZZA MAKING WORKSHOP AND PARTY WITH FIORELLA on WEDNESDAY 4/12, 3-5 PM. Fiorella is supporting Alamo's arts departments through the Fiorella School Charity Program. A 2-hour pizza making workshop will be used to promote the fundraising program and our school. It will be broadcasted on local TV. Each student will need a ticket reservation and a completed media release agreement. Ticket reservation available on 3/18, 9 am (8 spots are available only to Alamo students 2nd-5th grades).   • STOP, DROP & GO for MARCH! Week of March 13: Rm 202 Revitz. Week of March 20: Rm 203 Lewenhaupt. 
  • CALLING ALL BUDDING SCIENTISTS! Science Fair Flyers (click HERE) need to be filled in and returned by Friday, March 24 to the box on Ms. Shellie’s desk in the office to participate. If you would like to help with the science fair this year, please email Jenn Erskine-Ogden jerskineogden@gmail.com.
  • "LIGHTS, CAMERA, AUCTION!" on Friday, April 28, 2017: Held at St. Monica Church Hall (23rd Avenue and Geary Blvd), this annual event raises money for the following programs benefiting your children: outdoor science, music, literacy, dance, and technology. These programs are either not funded or insufficiently funded by the SFUSD. First, save the date in your calendar to join for an evening of fun to raise funds for your child's education. Second, spread news of the auction to all families in the Alamo community to participate! Many hands make light work! Please email Cathy Lee (cmlee190@gmail.com) to get more information.
