Debra is a USA Today Bestselling author and native New Yorker who made her escape to the suburbs. She often visits her hometown to visit her favorite deli for a bagel with butter, because there’s no better bagel than a New York bagel. When not in search of bagels, Debra spends her time running Buoni Amici Press with Drue Hoffman, a PR company for traditionally and independently published authors. She’s also the owner of The Book Enthusiast blog.

She started writing lyrics in her wall-to-wall NKOTB bedroom at the tender age of thirteen while dreaming of the day she’d become Mrs. Jordan Knight. That dream never came to fruition, but she has continued to write. Now she’s working on her first novel.

My short story for this anthology is called The Break (Breaking Free, Part 1)

"Like a best friend, you'll root for Rachelle until the end."-- New York Times Bestselling Author Avery Aster

Description:
Rachelle wants nothing more than to be free of her husband, Dr. Trey Wellington III.

After one terrible night, she decides it’s time to break free from his abusive, controlling ways. However, her plan goes astray and she finds herself in the fight of her life.

Will Rachelle be able to break away? Or will Trey keep her captive in the hell she’s been living?

This book contains graphic scenes and very sensitive subject matter.

This is a sweet, insta novella about an older couple. Despite the length of the book, it’s actually very well developed as well as the characters. Who knew that sharing a table at an airport diner could lead to finding happiness for the rest of your life? There is no drama here other than the angst that comes with deciding what to do when you’ve met someone who could change your life and yet you’re both flying to different parts of the world. I actually enjoyed it very much, especially having not read many stories with both a mature hero and heroine.

I've read a couple of the entries in this anthology and while different in content they were both definitely awesome reads.
Do You Mind? by Freya Barker
A beautiful story of a chance meeting of kindred souls in an airport while flights are delayed. Jack travels for his job as a photographer for National Geographic and Bernie is an author flying home to Canada from a signing. The characters are quite likable, especially the easygoing Jack, who persuades Bernie that they should spend more time together to explore the chemistry between them. Bernie has been hurt in the past and faced some issues that still bother her, but Jack is definitely a charmer. The writing is tight and the characters well developed. The sexual tension and intimate scenes of the couple are HOT. In true Freya Barker style, there is a twist that makes the reader want more of this couple.

The Break by Debra Presley
I was intrigued by the entry from Ms. Presley. This is the first work I've read by this author and The Break appears to be an interesting prologue to an upcoming book or series, which I cannot wait to read. Rachelle lives in an abusive relationship with her doctor husband, Trey. Their relationship was not always abusive but over time Trey has blamed all of his issues on his wife and reads things into her actions. Her punishment is severe and distressing. Rachelle's plan is to leave the relationship but is she strong enough to do so? Plans are made, set into motion, and plot twists occur. The writing is crisp and direct, the emotions palpable and the danger realistic. Yes it ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, but hopefully the next installment isn't far behind.

What Happens on Spring Break by RC Stephens
I am a big fan of RC Stephens, her work is never formula or cookie cutter. The variety in her stories amazes me and am often surprised by the ideas she comes up with. What Happens on Spring Break is a fun flirty read about Sasha, a college student whose life is turned upside down by a change in her family and Chris, a bit older bar owner. Convinced by her friend and her mother to have a bit of fun, Sasha goes to Florida with Kelly on spring break. Not exactly a party girl, Sasha isn't up for the spring break scene and heads for the beach. There she meets Chris and their first impressions of each other should point to a couple that should not work. He thinks she's a spoiled rich girl and she thinks while he's attractive, he's not her type. Their banter is humorous and the chemistry as dynamic as their attraction.
As always, Ms. Stephens spins a well-plotted tale with likable, relatable characters and great dialogue. The writing is tight and the twists in the plot leave the reader wanting more. It appears what happens on spring break, doesn't always stay on spring break. I'm anxious to know if this is a prequel to a longer book to come.

Trading Yesterday by Kahlen Aymes
If this is the first chapter of a new book by Ms. Aymes, I cannot wait to read the rest of the story. The writing is tight and story flows into the reader's heart. The emotions are raw and grab the reader immediately and refuse to let go. Chance and Teagan were desperately in love and planning a future together. When Chance is given a chance to live his soccer dream playing, the couple decides to put their future on hold so he can take the opportunity. Half a world away, his world is rocked with betrayal that leaves him devastated and angry. Six years later he is asked by Teagan to come home because of an emergency. Despite his anger, he returns and is hit with an unexpected emotional tidal wave: anger, hurt, more betrayal, love, and possibly forgiveness.
I can't wait to read the rest of Trading Yesterday. Kahlen Aymes does angst and emotion in all the right ways. Her stories never fail to satisfy the reader's need to have their heart shattered and mended by her beautiful words. I'll impatiently wait for the rest of Chance and Teagan's story.

Almost Too Late by Micalea Smeltzer
I have not read anything by Micalea Smeltzer before but after reading her entry into this anthology, I added all of her books onto my TBR. This novella is a prequel to the her Willow Creek series, after checking Amazon, I see this writer has quite a backlist, which I can't wait to read.
Almost Too Late gives the backstory of Remy and Mathias. Their tenuous start as friends quickly heats to young love, although the road to their future is very rocky. While Remy isn't quite the black sheep of her family, she is definitely some shade of gray. Mathias is the school bad boy and in the eye of every girl at school, add in the fact that he can sing and the panties will fall. He, his friend, and his twin brother start a band, which the series follows in future books.
In an uncharacteristic move Mathias reaches out to Remy because he feels she is a kindred soul. They start out as friends but eventually young love and lust win the couple over. Needless to say, there are several twists that throw boulders in their path and I can't wait to see where things lead.

I had the pleasure of getting an advanced copy of Freya Barker’s Do You Mind? It’s the only story I’ve read in the anthology, though I will be purchasing this one upon release. I’ve loved everything that Freya puts out and this one is no exception. She is a master at her craft; presenting the reader with real, believable characters. Although this is a shorter story, it is as impactful as her other full length novels.

The story begins with Bernice at the airport during an unanticipated layover. She is approached by Jack who also finds himself in the airport. The attraction is apparent and the sparks fly between these characters.

Ms. Barker’s characters are typically older, usually in their forties, which I think enhances to the plausibility. They have lived, they’ve been hurt. They know to take action in the moment.

I can only hope that this is a precursor to an extended novel. It definitely left me wanting more of Bernie and Jack.

I love the opportunity that an anthology like this give me as a reader. Most of the authors are new to me and it gives me a chance to have a look at their writing style before jumping into a full length books. That being said I almost always want more when I finish a short story like the ones in an anthology.

I have gifted with an advanced copy of Ms Barker's "Do You Mind?"
In true Freya fashion she has gifted us with realistic characters that you can relate to. Bernice is a writer waiting for a flight home to Toronto. Jack has travelled the world as a photographer and is looking for some company while waiting at the airport. In this short few chapters you will feel the heat and spark that is evident between Bernie and Jack. Will Bernie step out of her quiet reluctant shell and just enjoy the time. Seize the day and take one step at a time?

As always with Freya's writing I was not ready for the story to be over. I will have to see if maybe this might work into something bigger at a later time.

I am excited to jump into more stories at a later date. Always looking for a new author to follow.

Full review will follow shortly........

Do You Mind? By Freya Barker is one of the stories in this brilliant anthology.
It's no secret I'm a huge fan of Ms Barker's writing.
I read alot of books and there are only a few authors that seem to be able to completely capture me from the very beginning of the story, Freya is one of them!
The emotions she managed to draw from me in only four chapters was truly stunning.
Jack is..... Mmmm just delicious in every sense!
I really liked Bernie too.
I want more......I need more of them and their story ;)
And that there is the true test of how good a story is!

Looking forward to reading the rest of the stories within the anthology if this is an indicator of how it is going to be.

**Carla's Five Star Review

I am a huge fan of anthologies because as a reader I feel like these types of books allow me to discover a lot of great new authors that I otherwise might not find on my own. A Love for Romance is packed full of amazing stories! Listed below are my reviews for a few of them.

The Break by Debra Presley
Rachelle thought she had found her happily ever after, but boy was she wrong! She is married to an abusive man who is a well known doctor in Texas. He has friends everywhere, so she feels like she has nowhere to turn to for help. She feels hopeless until an unlikely savior comes along. Together, they come up with an escape plan, but all hell breaks loose on the day she plans to run. Will Rachelle be able to get away?

I loved this story! Yes, it ends with the mother of all cliffhangers, but the good news is Debra is well on her way to completely the follow up to this wild and crazy introduction!

Babysitting for the Biker by Sammi Starlight
Savage is the president of the notorious Devil's Knights MC. He is known for kicking a** and taking names, but, when it comes to his young daughter, Mandy, he is a big ole teddy bear. After losing Mandy's mom shortly after his daughter was born, Savage vowed to never get too involved with another woman. However, Mandy's new babysitter has him rethinking everything. Willow is young-she just turned 18. Savage keeps telling himself she is too young for him, but he is a man who has always gone after what he wants. Will he be able to resist the temptation that Willow presents?

I am a a huge MC fan, so I was super excited to read this story! I am happy to say the story grabbed my attention from the start! I look forward to reading more about this awesome couple!

Burning the Midnight Oil by Elison Grace

While out on the town with her best friend, Jordan, Chloe is beyond mortified after spilling her drink in a handsome stranger's lap. Gunnar isn't her usual "type". She normally goes for a man in a well tailored suit, but there is just something about the ruggedly handsome Gunnar that she can't explain. Choosing to ignore her crazy attraction to this stranger, Chloe leaves thinking she will never see him again. What will happen when these two are brought together once again?

I loved this introduction to Gunnar and Chloe! The chemistry between these two is off the charts! I can't wait to read how their story unfolds!

I read Freya Barker's Do You Mind? Nope, I don't mind at all. I adore Bernie and Jack. The xharacters could be anyone because they are real and believable. That is one of the reasons I love Freya. Her charaters make me happy and give hope that age is just a number. If we take a chance, good things can happen. I can't wait to explore more.

So I was lucky enough to receive an ARC. The only author I had read was Micalea Smeltzer and so she's the only reason I really picked up the book. I'm glad I did because I found a lot of other great love stories.

The Break by Debra Presley- 1 Star
I thought all of these stories were suppose to be romances? To start of with something so depressing, that continued in installments, was so disappointing.

Always Too Late by Micalea Smeltzer- 5 Stars
I love everything by Micalea and loved Never Too Late, so to see Remy and Mathais in high school was bittersweet knowing what happens. To see Mathais a little unsure of himself was adorable. I just wish it was longer!

Until Stars Forget to Shine by Amber Garza- 2 Stars
Sorry, but I didn't like it. The plot is more something that should be a full length book, not a short story.

The Only Chance by Magan Vernon- 3.5 Stars
Short and sweet little read.

Awakened by Amber Garr-4 Stars
Loved it. Super cute and stands out from the other stories. Wish they had a book of their own.

Do You Mind? by Freya Barker- 4 Stars
The perfect short story. Something that draws you in, but doesn't leave you hanging. Perfect balance of emotionally attached, but not in a book hangover.

Cock-Block by W. Ferraro- 1 Star
No. Just no. How sad. I feel so bad for Wren. Skip this one.

What Happens on Spring Break by R.C. Stephens
This was on of the few that I didn't read. Just didn't catch my attention.

Always There by Elizabeth Hayes- 1 Star
Bleh.

Falling for Lindy by Ashlee Taylor-3 Stars
Aw young clueless love.

Burning the Midnight Oil by Elison Grace
Didn't read this one either.

Babysitting for the Biker by Sammi Starlight- 4 Stars
Short and Sweet. Wait not sweet, hot.

Chasing Love by Misha Elliot
Tried reading this one. Got to Chapter 3 and was bored.

Spellbound- 4.5 Stars
What a cute story to finish off the book. I might have to look into Kenzie and Bo's book.

Such a great deal!! All the authors included are amazing.

Review for: The Break by Debra Presley

Rachelle thought she had found the love of her life. Unfortunately, she had merely met the opponent to the fight of her life. Faced with a prestigious doctor who ignores his oath to "do no harm" when it comes to his wife, Rachelle cannot take the chance to escape for granted. Even the smallest mistake could cost her life, but she is dying to Break Free.

The Break by Debra Presley is just the beginning of what is sure to be a great series. The ending teases some tense moments should be expected. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

Cock-Blocked by W. Ferraro
This was a fun, sexy, quick read. Wren has the hots for his best friends, Levi, younger sister, Prue. It's Prue's eighteenth birthday and she is determined to get what she wants and Wren is the perfect person to help her.
This was the first book that I have read by W. Ferraro and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

What Happens on Spring Break by R.C. Stephens

Always There by Elizabeth Hayes

Falling for Lindy by Ashlee Taylor

Burning the Midnight Oil by Eilson Grace

Babysitting for the Biker by Sammi Starlight
Savage, a biker with the Devil's Knights MC, is currently looking for a babysitter for his daughter when his mother recommends Willow. Willow is young but very attractive and Savage is finding it very hard to keep his distance from her.
This was a great quickie but it left me wanting more. Much more! I am hoping there will be more from these two somewhere down the line.

Chasing Love by Misha Elliott

Spellbound by Ashlee Sinn
To say that this book was funny would be an understatement, this book was hysterical. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
Kenzie is messing around with some spells that she has in a book that was given to her by a friend when Bo sees one that is rather interesting...Lets just say that things don't go exactly as planned.
Catching the Bear catching the bear is Bo and Kenzie's story

This review is for Debra Presley's The Break which alone makes getting this anthology well worth it!

Yep, I’m hooked. The anticipation and excitement in this quick read has pulled me in head first. I loved that the bad guy was a doctor which goes to show you that what’s inside a person is what matters and not what they appear to be on the outside. I also loved the resolve and determination of a strong female. Will Rachelle be able to outlast and outrun her abusive husband? I can’t wait to read the next installment of Breaking Free.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.

Holy Fuck!

…….Runs off to turn fan on as feeling decidedly overheated and retrieve new batteries for toys……….

Only Freya Barker could deliver a well-rounded story in 4 chapters with a sexy gorgeous silver fox alpha and a heroine that has warmth, humour and a body with the issues and imperfections real women deal with especially as age creeps upon us. Effortlessly as usual she reels us in and gives a quick tale of a meeting that becomes a beginning, full of possibilities, showing that when we follow our gut instincts, are brave enough to take a leap of faith special things can happen, to normal, real people, the fantasy never feels like a fantasy with her writing, it feels real, touchable and so very close, creating an intimate connection between the reader and her characters. I adored this, short it may be but fabulous all the same.

Spellbound written by Ashley Sinn is about Bo Callaghan who has finally met his mate in Kenzie. Kenzie though is a witch in a clan of grizzlies but can sure hold her own. When a problem comes to light and they realize they need Kenzie's help she realizes maybe these grizzlies need her more than she has realized.

There is just no way you won't find something you will love in this book. I really enjoyed it and have some stories I can't wait for more of. I also read two paranormal stories and you better write this down because I actually enjoyed them. This coming from the girl who doesn't read paranormal stories period. I also loved that several authors I have read before have written stories that are the total opposite of their previous stories. It's always so nice to read an author and see them switch it up. It is great for their readers and showcases their talent as a writer. You can not go wrong by purchasing A Love For Romance and getting lost in fifteen wonderfully amazing stories for a while.

A Love for Romance by various authors is an anthology

A Love for Romance is a collection of 15 complete stories as well as previews by various authors but this review will focus on The Break (Breaking Free, Part 1) by USA Today Bestselling Author Debra Presley. Rachelle is the beautiful young wife of Dr. Trey Wellington III, and a classic example of marry young, repent in haste. Rachelle is an abused wife but her pleas for help to the sheriff fall on deaf ears. Rachelle has nowhere to turn to for help ... until she stumbles upon a women’s shelter and befriends Patricia, a volunteer at the shelter. After a particularly bad beating, Trey takes Rachelle to a very exclusive resort, where she plans her escape. After calling Patricia on a burner phone to let her know she's ready to run, Rachelle drugs Trey's wine. Trey falls asleep after dinner and Rachelle makes her escape, but then she hears Trey chasing her through the woods. Will Rachelle be able to meet Patricia and make it to the shelter?

The Break has drama, action and suspense. Debra Presley had me hooked with a riveting storyline and a vulnerable but brave heroine. I highly recommend this book.

At this point I have only read Ms. Presley's contribution it's a hella ride my review -

Hot damn! I am a fan of Ms. Presley, however this one will turn you on your ear! It's totally different from anything else she has written. That is in a great way! This one is dark and a bit twisted. Yes, it's a serial - PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME WAIT TOO LONG!

Rachelle is married to a doctor - a doctor with power, a doctor who drinks too much, and takes his anger out on her. She has been thinking of getting out for quite awhile. She has been making plans, just waiting for the right time. After he beats her after some slight he thinks she made at a hospital fundraiser. Enough is Enough.

Can Rachelle get away clean or will Trey find her? We will have to wait and see!

If you love a wonderfully written story - that deals with the horror of an abusive relationship in a gentle but memorable way. I highly recommend this. I am chomping at the bit for the next installment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received this anthology as an ARC in exchange of an honest review. I haven't finished reading all the stories but the ones I have, have been amazing. They will leave you craving for more!

My favorites so far are:

Trading Yesterday by Kahlen Aymes, this is a little preview of what seems to be an amazing book. It tells the story of a guy who lost his love and how they meet each other under great circumstances. I fell in love with this characters.

Always too Late by Micalea Smeltzer. This is the book I signed for and it tells us how Mathias and Remy's story first started in the Willow Creek series.

The Only Chance by Magan Vernon. it's possible to fall in love again even if the spark has gone missing.

The Break:
The Break was my favorite story n this anthology. It was short, but it gave a really nice taste of the storyline that made you wany more. I really do think that Debra Presley did a fantastic job with it.

Always Too Late:
Micalea Smeltzer is one of my favorite authors. I was a little disappointed in this story by her. I though that it was too short, and it just felt like it was missing a lot of information.

I've only been lucky enough to read Do You Mind? By Freya Barker, from this anthology and if the the other books included are half as good, then it's the bargain of the month.
Do You Mind? Tells the story of Jack and Bernie, who meet, while stuck at an airport due to flight delays. They have a immediate spark and so begins this story. As well as a book filled with sexual attraction, you also get a great understanding of what has hurt and shaped each of them. Freya Barker writes older character so well, making us all recognise a little of all of us in them.
Sometimes I find it hard to invest too much into novellas as they are so quick to read, but this certainly didn't feel that way.
Freya Barker A can we tempt you for more of these two?

What an awsome anthology. I have read a couple of the stories in this book but the one I was most excited about reading was "Do you mind" by Freya Barker. I loved this story so much. Who hasn't seen someone at some point in their life and wondered what it would be like to just introduce yourself and see where it leads. I must say I found myself living vicariously through these characters. Even though this was a quick read, for me I feel like I got a complete story. The beginning was innocent, the middle was steamy, and the ending still has me smiling. I can only hope that someday there may be a follow up novel, but if not, Im still satisfied. I can image everyone is over the moon happy and living out a dream, just the way it was meant to be.

I was only going to read a couple in this anthology but once I started I couldn't stop reading most of them. I have reviewed the ones I've read.
Trading yesterday by Kahlen Aymes - This is the first chapter of a new series from this author and what a start it is. This chapter gives you a taste of what's to come and I definitely can't wait to read more. This author never fails to deliver an outstanding read.
The break (breaking free #1) by Debra Presley - This book feels like it could be the start of something fantastic. This story is very well written with realistic emotions and danger. The characters are fantastic and I can't wait to read more from them in the future. A bit of a cliff hanger ending, which gives you a taster of what's to come.
Almost too late by Micalea Smeltzer - This is the first book by this author that I've read and it definitely wont be the last. This is a novella to the willow creek series, which I'll be downloading as soon as possible. This story is the back story of the characters. This novella has some twists and turns through out the story. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
What happens on spring break by R.C. Stephens - This is a fun and flirty read from this author. This book has fantastic characters with lots of chemistry. The twists and turns in this book will leave you wanting more.
Burning the midnight oil by Eilson Grace - This is the first book by this author that I've read and it definitely wont be the last. This book has fantastic characters with very hot chemistry. I'm definitely going to have a look on Amazon for more by this author.
Babysitting for the biker by Sammie Starlight - This is the first book by this author that I've read and it wont be the last. This is a short very hot and steamy story with fantastic characters. This story will grab your attention from the start and keep you reading till the end.
Awakened : a Leila Marx worlds novella by Amber Garr - This is the first book by this author that I've read and it wont be the last. The characters were cute, they would be fab in a full length book of there own. I really enjoyed this book, just wished it would have been longer.
Do you mind? by Freya Barker - This is the first book by this author that I've read and it wont be the last. This story draws you in from the first page. This is a beautiful story. The perfect short story. The characters are very likeable and you will fall in love with them from the start. This book has plenty of hot and steamy scenes and the chemistry between the characters is off the chart.
This is a fantastic collection of well written stories, definitely worth a read.
Highly recommended

I really enjoyed most of the stories in this Anthology. There were a few that I couldn't get into at all which is why my rating is 4 Stars.

There was a few stories that I loved and I am going to mention those ones because I so need more of them. Trading Yesterday by Kahlen Aymes. I need the full length books like last week. I have told the author that I loved to preview to the book and understand that life happens and I know we will get more. I am trying to patiently wait. The Break part 1 by Debra Presley, I need part 2 like now as well. This story is heartbreaking. Cock Blocked by W. Ferraro was another one, I love best friends little sister books!
I enjoyed others but those where my 3 favorites! All but 1 of the authors were new to me. I look forward to reading more from them all and giving the couple that I couldn't get into another read at a later date.

I bought this anthology of stories for one story in particular- Always Too Late by Micalea Smeltzer. As usual she didn't disappoint and reading about Remy and Mathias made me want to pick up the Willow Creek series again. Beautifully written and true to the characters. It made me love them and their story even more. For this short story I definitely give FIVE GLORIOUS STARS.

For the other stories, I'd give them between two - four stars for a range of different reasons. They didn't really have an impact on me. Some were not to my taste but they were tucked away in the anthology of romantic stories (of which I'm a huge fan) so I read them anyway.

The Break

This book has a lot of my favorite authors in it. I'm writing this review one book at a time so I can praise them all. I just finished The Break by Debra Presley and I need more!!! This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I can't wait to see what happens next. I own and have read a few books from this author and I really like her writing style, she keeps you going page after page. I literally try to read her books in one setting. This is a great calibration and I can't wait to read my next favorite also W. Ferraro!
