BRUNSWICK, GA. | The Wings Over the Golden Isles Airshow that was canceled in October because of Hurricane Matthew has expanded its rescheduled March show to three days with a .38 Special concert and twilight airshow.

The third day at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport was added because its main musical act, Southern rock band .38 Special had a scheduling conflict. The band had been set to perform on the opening day, Saturday, March 25 . To keep them in the entertainment mix, JLC Airshow Management added a Friday night concert and a third airshow, company President John Cowan said.

The musical acts are dubbed the “Smoke-and-Thunder Concert Series” but there will also be more thunder in the air than there would have been in October.

The Navy Blue Angels will perform their high-powered aerial demonstrations Saturday and Sunday instead of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds demonstration team which had a a few planes already on the ground in Brunswick before the October show was canceled. The Snowbirds don’t begin their season until May, so JLC was “very fortunate to secure the U.S. Navy Blue Angels for the March weekend,” Cowan said.

The Saturday and Sunday aerial demonstrations will go from noon until 5 p.m., a draft schedule says, but the Friday twilight air show will run from 7 until 8:30 p.m. That will be followed at 9 p.m. by the concert.

Some of the performers in the twilight air show will have lights and special effects.

Performers include a P-51 Mustang, the U.S. Special Operations Command parachute team, the AeroShell Aerobatic Team and others, JLC said in a release.

The event also will include a salute to first responders.
