It sounds like you are not in a relationship with this guy. To me, a guy who uses cute nicknames without asking you to be his girlfriend first, is a player or a guy who is or wants to enjoy casual sex with you but does not want a commitment. I am not comfortable hearing such terms unless we are in a relationship and I would caution other women to beware too. It is what I call a panty-dropping move. It is intended to get a girl to let her guard down, to feel special, without ever committing to her.
Now, in some parts of the country I have found that people use terms like darling for everyone of the female persuasion and it does not mean anything.
All Depends on The Guy. Some Will Call Women A Sweetie because he Actually has Interest in her. Others do it to get in the bed. Go More off of how he Acts than what he says. It’s not hard to tell if a man Actually Cares for you or just wants to Bang. Good luck!

Thay, to me, is an endearing name.Its something Id call someone I liked and respected and cared for.
I am a guy & have been calling all girls Sweetie ( with no ulterior motives for decades ), to me it just means respect to them - meaning honesty, empathetic, pretty inside & out, caring etc, no age limits as well, I call all girls. Ditto!
