This was a powerful and at times violent romantic thriller and a great addition to what is fast becoming an addictive series..the heroes of these books seem to be magnets for the most sadistic of enemies and as a consequence the small town where the action takes place is fast becoming murder central....Collision can be read as a standalone but for the full backstory and appreciation of the characters it is better to start with Double Take ...the first in the series ......
Told from the perspective of the two main characters, the narrative included flashbacks to serious events in their pasts....... in addition the killer's thoughts and motives were interwoven throughout ...I particularly liked the camaraderie between the specialist investigative team members which was totally believable full of humour, friendship and love ....furthermore concerns I raised regarding characterisation in the first book no longer applied...
The story was fast paced and really dark at times; the author skilfully created an unsettling atmosphere of menace and uncertainty as the plot twisted and turned...as in the case of the first book the format was in the style of a whodunnit and the conclusion was suitably unexpected and shocking .....
With it's gripping plot and surprising finale I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in the future.....This book was reviewed for Summer's Eve Reads...
3.5 stars!! Once again I had no clue who the bad guys were until it was revealed!!
This book can be read as a stand alone. It I do not recommend it, you will miss out on the characters background and how they all came together.
This book was Shane and Macy's story. I was so excited for this because I def fell hard for these two in the last book. Shane is soooo yummy!! Well really I believe they all are (I can't wait for Brent's book). I was I intrigued from the beg because Macy's back story was so damn interesting. But I will say the current story didn't hold as good as the first book. I loved all the back stories and I did not see the bad guys coming but I tended to skim quite a bit in this book. The story line was great. I love all these characters and where they are going in their lives and the new editions that were introduced at the end excite me!!! Oh and I love this cover!!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review **
O.M.G! WHAT AN EXCITING BOOK! I'm not going to describe the story at all, because I'm not spoil sport who gives things away, and now that I got off of that intense and exciting ride, I'm afraid I would give things away on accident. WOW WOW WOW! Allie Redman is an evil genius with a brilliant writing style. This storyline was fast paced, original, and explosive! There were so many twists and turns that I'm sure I just dropped loud f-bombs throughout the whole story! If the high intensity factor isn't enough, add in some serious steamy sexy scene goodness that will ruin panties everywhere. Past baggage makes for great angst, my eyes may or may not have leaked, and the well placed humor between a close team broke up the intensity a bit. I couldn't get enough of this story, and I definitely cannot wait for the next book, so I'll just end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Collision to everyone far and wide!
A face paced romantic suspense that will keep you guessing!
The suspense and action throughout the book held my attention from start to finish. It is a typical crime story with drama, action, and violence however it is mixed with a touch of romance that adds to the story. If you like shows like Criminal Minds or Law and Order, then you will enjoy this book too.
The characters were connectable and were real. They had real emotions and real issues that normal people would have. The book was well written and flowed from beginning to end. Being a suspense, I enjoy not being able to figure out who the killer/bad guy is until right at the end. Allie Redman did a fantastic job of keeping you guessing. Just when you think you know who it is, you will second guess yourself.
I thought Allie did a great job of adding different elements to the story to keep it intriguing and mysterious. There were so many times that you want to reach through the book and hug the characters for all that they have gone through in their past while dealing with a killer targeting them. Each book gets better and better. I did not want the book to end – it was that good! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series – hopefully I will learn more about Brent’s past and what makes him tick.
This was my second book by Allie Redman. This is an author that gets better and better as she writes. I am looking forward to the next book and to see what else this author can do. I recommend Allie Redman to anyone that enjoys a face paced suspense with a touch of romance thrown in the mix.
Collision is the second installment of Allie Redman’s Serial Killer Unit series and tells Shane and Macy’s story. While it could be read as a standalone, it is best to read book one first as the characters and back story do play a big role in this book.
This time, a serial killer seems to be targeting Shane and those he loves through hit and runs. Shane’s wife had been a victim year’s ago and the case was unsolved. The killer is now back and upping his game. In the midst of this case, Macy’s past also comes back to haunt her and the team. Thinking she escaped the horror of her childhood, it once again is knocking on her door.
Can Shane, Macy and the team solve not one but two cases trying to tear them apart?
This plot is fast paced . . .almost too fast paced at times, as it seems that too much is happening at once at spots throughout the story. The author does an amazing job of drawing out who the bad guys really are until the big reveals . . .it was unexpected and a great plot twist. If you are a fan of serial crime drama, it is a good bet that you will enjoy this book and series.
After reading Double take I could not stop myself from reading Collision , Allie Redman did such a amazing job with not only this book but the first one too you can read as a standalone but I would recommend reading it . You just want the main characters to get their happy ever after after going through what they both went through and are still going through they help one another over come a lot and while this is happening a killer is after them so be prepared to be on the edge of you're seat to the very end . copy provided for honest review **************************************** darkness level =5 enjoyment = 8 story line =8 character development = 10 cover = 10 stars = 4 author = 8 would I recommend this book = yes would I re read this book = yes would I read future books by this author = yes
First, a warning, some parts of this book may be triggering for readers with a traumatic childhood. This is however, an EXCELLENT book. Love, loss, mystery, and a coldly calculating crazed killer on the loose. Although this team of crime fighters isn't your run of the mill crew, it only adds to their charm, pulling the reader in. You can't help but root for them, cry with them over their sad memories, laugh over their jokes, and scream in frustration when it feels like all hope is lost. Allie Redman's latest installment in her Serial Killer Unit series is even more powerful than the last.
Collision is the second in the series, by Allie Redman. It tells the story of Shane and Macy. It divulges each of their histories and their life together all while uncovering threats and solving murders in their town. With the addition of tracker and once FBI agent, Brent, their operation is fortified and he is essential to the recovery of information and people affected in the latest crime sprees. With conflicts and convoluted involvement of their pasts, more of the mysteries unfold.
While this book had less errors than the first book by the author, there were still some obvious and distracting, so I am hopeful through final editing there will be corrections and changes that iron out the imperfections. The story still has a depth for its characters but it was missing the strong storylines that were in Double Take, making it my preferred book by Allie Redman. Still, I'm curious to see what other books she will write and whose stories she will tell!
