Looking for somewhere to unwind?

The Vale Resort is a good bet as it's just been name-checked for having the best golf course and spa in Wales.

Situated in the Vale of Glamorgan , the four star hotel and leisure venue was named Wales’ Best Golf Hotel 2017 at the 4 annual World Golf Awards, held at La Manga Club, Spain.

It was then named Wales' Best Resort Spa 2017 at the 3 annual World Spa Awards, held in Vietnam.

Both ceremonies are organised annually by the World Travel Awards, which describes itself as “the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence”.

The Vale Resort fought off competition from Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel & Spa, near Cardiff, and Newport's Celtic Manor Resort to scoop the award for golfing excellence, and both Celtic Manor and the Spa at Corran Resort, Carmarthen, were runners up for Wales' Best Resort Spa.

In both awards, votes are cast by professionals working within each industry and by members of the public.

The World Travel Awards previously recognised the Vale Resort as Wales’ Leading Golf Resort in 2004 and 2007 and the Vale Spa as Wales’ Leading Spa Resort in 2006 and 2015.

Stephanie Metson, marketing manager at the Vale Resort, said: “For the Vale Resort to be named in two different award categories in the same year is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work of all of our staff."

Why is the golf course a winner?

The Vale Resort’s two championship golf courses have been host to a number of PGA golf tournaments over the years, and have benefited from a recent investment of more than £400,000 in its state-of-the-art courses and greens equipment.

The courses offer a mixture of mature wooded areas, wide and narrow fairways and vast areas of water features.

Why is the spa a winner?

The Vale Spa has 19 treatment rooms and six bespoke relaxation zones.

These include the ‘chill-out’ zone with leather sofas and magazines, the ‘float’ zone, with water beds and water feature, and the ‘slumber' zone, with low lighting and quilts.

The resort’s spa and leisure facilities also include a 20-metre pool, whirlpool bath, steam room and sauna.

The Vale Resort is also partnered with a host of luxury brands including Clarins, Temple Spa and Sundari – an Indian-inspired range of holistic Ayurvedic treatments.
