I hate to say this to myself but I don’t know why I started it and why I tortured myself with this series but I’m glad I finished it even though I cringed and cussed and half the time wanted to give up and, although, I guess cause Gage just made me want to kick him in the balls throughout this series aaaaand do not get me started on Kayla but without a doubt it was a little disturbing and I guess for me in the end they kind of deserved each other, so I won't lie story was OKAY.

So why this rating, I guess I’m just kind to give it for knowing that despite these two crazies lust/love for each other, I love how they were with Eve and Connor but especially with Kayla's bff Simone who's so awesome and sweet.

The Devil's Kiss Series Boxed Set by Gemma James
Genres; Adult, Contemporary, Crime, Dark Erotica, Romance, Suspense.
4.375 Star (4 Book Average)

Condensed version of my original reviews for each book.

📕 The Devil's Kiss
5 Stars

I was completely spellbound. The suspense kept me on my toes. The writing flows pulling you into Gage and Kayla's world. It gripped me hard and refused to let me go.
The elements in this story are ominous and sinister, wicked and conflicting, twisted and often frightening. There is also courage, grit and daring. I could not get enough. I could not stop reading. My heart pounded and my mind was in turmoil. I loved every shade, tone, every nuance. Continued....

📕 The Devil's Claim
3 Stars

I had a really hard time getting into this one, but....
Kayla seemed to have become a horribly weak individual who can't even admit to her own sexuality. It's like she has become an immature twit.... Her back and forth about ANY decision, including her own emotions, drove me up a wall.
Then there is Gage......His actions and his words did not mesh.... No mature thought given to his actions....... Both acting like spoiled, immature brats.....
... Ended well, but....... Disappointed.

📕 The Devil's Wife
4.75 Stars

I liked this one much more... I almost gave up on this series. I'm glad I didn't..
Kayla is growing and becoming much stronger as she begins to accept herself...
She actually becomes strong enough to hold her own against Gage and turn the tables on him a bit.
“You’ve learned too fucking much from me.”
Payback time in the bedroom!
.. Ms. James definitely knows how to write Hot, Steamy, Naughty, Mind Blowing, Down-&-Dirty Adult sex scenes....
The story and writing flowed smooth and I....... Ms. Gemma James does not hold back on these books. They Are Dark & Twisted.

📕 The Devil's Spawn
4.75 Stars

Amazingly Ms. James turns the heat up even more in this one. I thought it was as hot and dark as it could get. Boy was I wrong!
At the beginning, before you read word one of the story, we are greeted with this,
'Includes explicit and disturbing subject matter that may offend some readers.'
What it should say is,
"Includes explicit and disturbing subject matter that Will offend and Freak out Most readers!"
Even I have moments of 'EEk! with this series. Lmbo
Those 'EEK! moments are some of my favorite moments!
In this one Kayla finds out she is pregnant with Gage's child.. So it should have been happy times, right? Nope.
Kayla once again shows her inability to control her 'Stupid' moments........
So what does Kayla do,...!!! But, yep, she does...
Not only does the Down-&-Dirty scenes get kicked up to High Propane Super Explosive Hot, but the suspense gets kicked up a few notches too.
....I found a couple of typos and there was one part towards the end ..... The way it was written in felt like a last minute thought to either up the drama or lead to a spin off series.

🎵 Note to all; .... All the stories are exactly the same... However, at the end of the bundle is 4 extra little stories about Gage & Kayla. Three of them are Gage's POV. So, if you see it on sale you may want to invest in it. Just FYI

'The Devil's Kiss Series Boxed Set' by Gemma James. Is the story of Gage and Kayla. This is a box set that includes: The Devil's Kiss, The Devil's Claim, The Devil's Wife, The Devil's Spawn.
This is a dark romance so be aware that there are some tough sexual scenes. Gage is also a very hard alpha male that keeps a tight control over Kayla too.
Kayla daughter has cancer and the treatment is expensive so she took money from the company to pay for the treatment. Gage has found out and now is using that to take control of Kayla's life and make her his 'sex slave'. But we slowly find out more going on with with Gage that he has let Kayla know.
Even though this was a Dark romance I did feel that the hero did get to tough with Kayla but that was part of their story. This had a lot of surprises in their story line too. So if you like a dark and exciting romance this one is for you!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

I made it half way through the series and I can't go on. I'm done. I imagine the author will have them end up in some form of happily ever after, but not by my standards. Gage is irredeemable. The way he uses Eve, the little girl, to get what he wants is repulsive. I would have castrated him.

description

Kayla, the FMC, is justifiably afraid in the beginning. He has her over a barrel, but there were so many ways she could have gotten out of it. She let him use her and learned to like it. I'm not talking a about normal D/s relationship, but this was off the charts extreme.

description

I have no respect for either character and now I have to do something I hate doing. I'm leaving the series unfinished because I honestly don't give a crap what happens to these people.

description

I'm sure this is what Eve would have said to her mother if she'd know what a putz she was.

OHMYFREAKING good googlymoogly! Five freaking fantastic "somebody please help me read slower because I don't want this story to end in this lifetime" stars!

Gage is beyond perfection. Kayla is the perfect wife. The perfect submissive. Well....almost. Something isn't wired right in her head but she is perfect for this series. Kayla's insecurities and inability to stay focused and on the right path tipped the drama jar into oblivion!

Gage is not without his drama however! His secret once revealed is a doozy! Oh yeah this story is syrup on the pancakes! Sweet and thick! You need the knife and fork to waddle though this deliciousness!

Gahhhhhhhhh this series is by far one of my fave! Luckily you get the pleasure to read the series in order though because if you didn't , you would have missed pertinent information that is detrimental to the drama jar and your sanity! Trust me......this entire series is A freaking 1!

I'm classing this as a romance since the Gage and Kayla end up married and with a baby, but Gage's behavior is so bad for most of the books, that it doesn't feel romantic.

Book 1 The Devils Kiss is a strong start to the series, the characters motivations and behavior makes sense. 4-stars

Book 2 The Devil's Claim- It appeared that Gage was moving past his issues to be more of true hero and then a manufactured drama up ends it. I was rolling my eyes. 2-stars.

Book 3 - The Devils Wife - Kayla goes completely out of character and Gage's 'punishment' is gross. 1-star

Book 4 - The Devil's Spawn - Somewhat better, but still not making much sense. 2.5-stars.

I know this is a dark romance series, and I wasn’t expecting much, but this is so bad. I guess you kinda know the way the book is going right from the beginning?

There’s blackmail, BDSM master/slave dynamic but really just an excuse for raping and torturing the heroine, abuse, mentions of an abusive ex, mentions of a miscarriage, miscarriage later on in the story, misogyny, kidnapping, and mentions of a young child with cancer. I read about 13% from this bundle and skipped ahead to see what’s up so the TWs are not all encompassing but just the bits I read.

The heroine stole $10,000 from a billionaire’s company. That’s the starting off point for this book. I’m sure he’s really going to miss that money. Or to be honest, it seems ridiculous anyone even caught her but seems like he was just waiting for her to screw up so he can have a hold over her and blackmail her into a slave contract. She just wants to escape her abuse ex husband and do everything she can for her 3 year old who has cancer. From what I read and glanced ahead and read, there’s really no reason for Gage to have a HEA with Kayla because his only ending should be death.

Also, the writing isn’t great? The story jumps around from one chapter to the other that feels a bit disjointed.

I finished this set three days ago and I couldn't really decide which way to go with the actual review.

The writing was very good and the plot was entertaining. When it pissed me off to no end and I wanted to toss my kindle, I was drawn into yet another twist.

The characters were by far more complex than I'm used to, which is good, but I didn't like them. There was no love to hate Gage. I just hated him. His saving grace for me was that he loved Kayla and her daughter unconditionally - although possessively, which usually works for me, but he lost my trust as a Dom and NEVER gained it back. Twice, he went overboard and still he demanded her trust. No, that's not how it works. I did like that they made their own rules and didn't let society establish the bounds of their relationship, but Kayla...SMH.

I thought Kayla would be submissive and still be...her? Not the case. She was a contortionist when it came to bending to his will, which is usually how it works, but I couldn't get into it with him. Even when Gage was dead wrong, she still bent to his will. I get it, the relationship between the Dom and Sub determine the dynamics, but he was dead wrong on a lot of occasions, he seriously hurt her on some occasions, and she gave token protests. She was indebted to him and then she fell in love with him, which was absolutely beautiful when he made her happy, but I couldn't get past him losing control. Also, he threatened her with Katherine when he got mad about Ian, but I kept wondering where was the comparison since Ian was her first love and she never stopped loving him (as opposed to Katherine basically being a tryst for him)? And then his secret with Katherine came to light and showed the comparison. No trust. Yes, she had secrets and tried to keep things from him, but she always confessed, even when she knew he would go ballistic. A Sub is supposed to trust their Dom and I couldn't see that with them (my opinion, even though the story was written to show that she forgave him and trusted him), it just wasn't realistic.

Overall, I would probably read more by this author because the writing was good, the plot was intriguing, and the pace never died down, but I couldn't get by no longer trusting him. It soured the book for me.

This series is all kinds of messed up, but I read all four books back to back anyways. This is not a romance series so much as perhaps dark erotica. Emphasis on dark. There’s BDSM and then there’s this - a relationship that is completely one-sided where the guy is the “Master” and controls and punishes the girl and the girl gets... well, just sex and painful punishments that aren’t warranted by any normal person’s standards. I am not sure why I kept reading it. I think I kept waiting for Gage to be nicer or for Kayla to grow a backbone. It’s a no in both counts. I don’t recommend. 3 stars for successfully making me feel like a Stockholm Syndrome reader - I kept coming back for more.

Title: The Devil's Kiss
Author: Gemma James

4 unexpected stars

Have you ever just sat motionless, unsure what to do about a book, even more so about how to rate or review it? That's my current dilemma with Gemma James' The Devil's Kiss series. The story is incredibly written; for it to captivate me and finish every single book in a day each is quite the feat. To say that there is drama is an understatement. The Devil's Kiss was all drama between Kayla and Gage. The minute that Kayla stole from Gage, she knew it was a matter of time before he caught what she had done. The last thing she ever expected was for him to offer her the only way out of jail and to save her daughter: to willingly sign a contract that makes her his complete s€x toy.

4 breath taking dreams

So here is where the problem with writing this review came - from the very beginning Gemma James tells reader that this series is far from the sane, safe and consensual BDSM practices that need to be respected in these relationships. And how right she was; any Dom not respecting a submissive's right to use her safe word or neglects her hard limits are what I call 'fake Doms' and far from deserving the submission of these subs. But Gage gets it reluctantly from Kayla, and I wonder, even while she feels as strongly as she does, would she still feel the same way if another man would have done everything right and catered to her darkest desires? I despised Gage's tactics - they are deplorable, yet I can't hate the man after everything he's gone through in life. Karma truly is a monster when you do the things you do, and seeing it happen did give me some satisfaction. My curiosity on this couple's development is so great that I have to keep reading to find out what will happen - I just hope that there is some humanity in this man that will redeem him in the end.

Title: The Devil's Claim
Author: Gemma James

4 unexpected stars

Does time and distance make the heart grow fonder? A year has passed since The Devil's Kiss and Kayla has tried to live a new life with her daughter Eve, away from Gage and Ian. The last thing she ever expected was for either men to show up at her doorstep within a day from one another and forced to chose between them. Only Kayla's obsession (is there any other way to describe it) with the Gage makes her feel and the glimpse of the man living inside the 'monster' makes the decision a little easier, even if she's still in love with the high school sweetheart, Ian. Just like with the first installment, The Devil's Claim kept me at the edge of my seat and mostly by morbid curiosity - what would Gage do to have and keep Kayla by his side?

4 breath taking dreams

There are moments when you see the other side of Gage: the passionate and caring man that he hides from the world to protect himself. Just when you think he's redeemed himself, he does something so incredibly cruel that goes beyond his sadistic nature that makes me want to hate him all over again. The worst part was watching Kayla forgive him again for the physical and emotional pain he dealt her, promising to be better if only he'll agree to a few of her terms. Can I consider this abuse? To many degrees, no, and I know many will disagree, mostly because what Kayla goes through, she agrees to it. But I cannot be alright with the way Gage exercises his dominance over Kayla, and I hope that their relationship gets better and on more stable and safe ground.

Title: The Devil's Wife
Author: Gemma James

4 unexpected stars

At this point, I'm not sure who's more of the glutton for pain and suffering - myself or Kayla. Another year has gone by since Kayla's marriage and I could literally feel and breathe the tension that is living with these two. It's so thick you'd swear that you could cut it with a knife. Gage's restrictions, rules and possessiveness hits an all time high that brings Kayla to her breaking point and hides a terrible secret that leads her to make a worst mistake when she learns of Ian's condition. I have to hand it to Gemma James: she truly knows how to keep her readers hooked to the point of wanting to know more about this couple despite the things Gage puts Kayla through.

4 breath taking dreams

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want this couple to make it. For sure the way these two are together, when they are connected, is something that anyone would strive for, but the way Gage punishes Kayla... no words can describe it. My heart is still furiously beating because of it, unable to comprehend how Kayla survived it, even more so wanting to stay. Is there, at this point, any way to save Gage? I can't be sure, but one thing I am certain about is that maybe, just maybe, the next installment will give me the answers i need.

Title: The Devil's Spawn
Author: Gemma James

4 unexpected stars

I had hoped that my questions would be answered with the fourth installment of Gemma James' Devil's Kiss series. One thing is for certain, she doesn't disappoint and even goes that extra step by creating a shattered world when you least expect it. Like in true Gage and Kayla fashion, things between these two always reach a boiling point where Kayla questions if staying is the safest and more sane answer in protecting herself. Sometimes, I have to admit, that it sounds like the more reasonable thing to do - and then Gage opens his heart and soul and then I remember that here is a man hiding behind the cold demeanor.

4 breath taking dreams

Gage's need to dominate his wife hits an all time high as he'll accept nothing less than her full and complete submission. From everything I've seen so far of Kayla, I never expected it possible and even more so difficult following Katherine's confession. Truthfully, I often wondered how they could make it together after everything they've gone through, what they will go through and all of their insecurities that pose and individual problem, and yet, they keep surprising me. My personal opinion of Gage's tactics still hasn't changed from the very beginning, but I've come to understand him as a man. I really am glad that I took the time to read this series since Gemma James is a force to be reckoned with.

~oOo~

Having had read each time as they came out individually, I loved being able to re read them once again, one after the other finally answered my questions, especially being able to read Gage’s POV ~ now that was something that kept me captivated more than anything. Finally I truly had the chance to understand the man that had me hot and cold. I loved the fact that Gemma James pushed the boundaries - I don’t think I said it often enough, but there’s nothing conventional about Kayla and Gage’s; how they meet, fall in love, get married and all the trials and tribulations are something to behold because at times it’s beautiful and others downright wrong, yet I know I had to read it at least once, and obviously twice with the box set. I can’t wait to see what else is to come from Gemma James because if nothing else, she really makes me think on what is considered wrong and right.

Okay so I don't normally read BDSM books or dark'ish books, but I have to say that this one captured me and kept me going from the start. I have to say that books with Dom/Sub relationships I don't normally get, but maybe it isn't that bad. I just didn't get the whole she had to trust him and give herself totally over to him and him not so much. Some parts where a bit just too much for me.

It took me a while to get into it, but once I got there I couldn't stop. I have to say that I really didn't like Gage, seriously. I though he was cold and demanding and just to much for me. But what I have to say is that his feelings for Kayla and her daughter is what won me over and only just just. Kayla, I wanted to shake her myself a few times. I wanted her to be more assertive and own up to being her own person. But I suppose that is the Dom/Sub relationship, right? (Not that I would know)

And please I am not saying this is a bad book or you wont like it, for me it was just not something that appealed to me, like I said some parts where just a bit too much for me. But if you like Dark/Raw, Intense BDSM books, then this one is definitely for you.

Well...

I read the whole thing, even though I didn't really like it. Don't get me wrong, I like my erotica black. The seduction of the story wasn't there. There was no literary foreplay to tease the reader. I am not talking about seduction in the naughty parts themselves, but the overall story.

Not the book for me. This is about coercion, force, rape, and blackmail. There’s nothing sexy about reading about a woman being blackmailed into being a sex slave. Where she’s raped and forced just to save her daughter. But then she’s convinced herself that she loves him? Nope. If the boom would’ve started it differently then maybe. But I can’t give a positive rating to this.

🔥 Held captive my Gage 🔥

I loved the up and down roller coaster ride that Kayla and Gage took throughout this series. Definitely not for the faint of heart. The push and pull, the give and take was over-the-top and truly not your typical controlling alpha. Their relationship was not typical by any way, shape or form but in those moments, when vulnerability peaked through the raw passion and intensity was breathtaking. I was truly held captive throughout my entire time reading this series.

Definitely not everyone's cup of tea!

Although the BDSM focus in the storyline did not bother me, the unrealistic day to day relationship seems farfetched and very unrealistic. There were so many times I just wanted to put the book down because the inhumane punishments is ridiculous and actually became boring BUT somehow I thought the relationship / marriage might ....... become more romance than just rules and punishments. I honestly read too many really hot, naughty, romantic books full of sex and bdsm from really good authors to know the difference between good and not. With this storyline and the right author, this good have been a great HOT read. Frankly THIS was far from it. Maybe I expected too much when I started and should I not had any expectations at all. This was my first and probably last read from this author. There is no way one can even visualise a good description of any f the characters to even fantasize about other than a bit of their character and hair colour. So the writing style was nothing impressive as well. It might seem like a harsh review and I do not like giving negative reviews but ..... I normally just skip the review when a book do not impress me but this SERIES was really a waste of time. I do not say do not read it, I say I personally was not impressed by this whole series at all. Not because of the BDSM but because I think it was unrealistic, farfetched, badly written and a waste of what could have been a good series with a good storyline that was totally spoiled by all the above.

The Devil's Kiss (book 1)
Rating: 4 stars

(12/01/2017 Review)

I purchased the Box Set and reread this part of the story. The story was a lot deeper than I remembered. Kayla is particularly annoying and intriguing. I understand the reason's behind what got her into the mess she's in but I have how weak she comes off as. Gage is a character that confuses the bleep outta me. The guy is cruel, mean, and cold. However, there is something really appealing about him, something that grabs you and makes you want to get to know him and like him, even when he's given you no reason at all to do so.

There are some circumstances and situations that really left me reeling and unsure of the story and how to continue on... The characters and the author have left me no choice. I need to know what comes next, what happens.

The Devil's Claim (book 2)
Rating: 3 stars

for a little bit I struggled with what rating to give this story, you see, there's a lot I really liked and a lot I really struggled with.
So, I'll start with what I liked:
- The reversal of roles between Gage and Kayla.
- Everything Gage revealed himself, his past, and what he really felt.
- How NOT weak Kayla is (she still needs some work though).
- Gage's possessiveness and dominance.
The storyline picks up from where book one left off. The pace is pretty steady, the authors writing captivating.
Did not like:
- Ian, I get he was supposed to be the "good guy" but, to me, he was just this very immature idiot that wouldn't just take a damn hint even when it was smacking him in the face.
- Kayla and her yo-yo-like emotions.
- Gage's ridiculous expectations, his controlling manner and his out of this world actions. Seriously, in real life, this type of stuff will get you locked up, but this is a fictional book, so...
- Katherine
-The borderline abuse and just plain ol' in yo face abuse.
There are moments in the story where I have to take a moment and remember this is all "make-believe". I'm not exactly familiar with the BDSM world, only know what I read and study. But there is a lot that bothers me about Gage's actions and behavior and the fact it's labeled BDSM, but I do appreciate that the author through Gage acknowledges this. I really love that Kayla isn't exactly what I first thought, she isn't a doormat. Gage may be this all-consuming man but she still stands up for herself and gives him the whats what, even if she is doing it for the punishment.

This story keeps me intrigued and entertained, I want to know what comes next, what will happen with Kayla, with Gage, with their relationship. There's more to be revealed about Gage.

The Devil's Wife (book 4)
Rating: 4 stars

Holy mother of all emotional rollercoaster.
I'm a bit ignorant of M/s relationships, and upon further research, this author has nailed this story down.

Gage, Gage, Gage the bastard just makes me hate him and love him all at once. Kayla, she's such a complex character, a strong independent woman that has to bend to the will of the man she loves because it's what she wants and she doesn't particularly like it.

I'm hooked! On to the next one.

The Devil's Spawn (book 4)
Rating: 5 stars

This ending was spectacular!

When I first began reading this series (it was a while ago...) I didn't understand the foundation and rules of an M/s relationship... There's a fine line between that relationship and abuse, Gage tended to blur those lines many times.

This story isn't going to be one of those stories that are meant for everyone. It will push your boundaries, push your comfort, and make you question everything you believe in. This isn't a fairytale, not a girl meets a nice boy and they live happily ever after story. This is the story that will tear your soul apart, it will make you hate the "hero", make you hate the "heroine" and at the same time you'll root for them, you will love them. I know I did.

This author delves into the dark, she pokes and prods at it without shame or fear, it is exhilarating.

The Box Set
Rating: 4.5 stars

I'll start with this story wasn't one easily loved, it was one that took time to convince me, reasons had nothing to do with the story and everything to do with what I believed in. This story was intense, the box set made it easier for me to keep reading and staying hooked on the story and the characters. The writing was spectacular, the author's way of telling this story was incredible. She didn't shy away from the ugly and I appreciated that. I highly recommend this, but know that it isn't a story for everyone, not a story for those of you that aren't willing to set aside your beliefs and read it...

Things I liked:
The warning at the beginning of the book that the characters' actions did not adhere to safe bdsm practices. At least we knew going in!

Things I did not like:
1. Gage did not treat Kayla like an equal, a partner, or someone he loved or respected at any point in the entire collection. He said that he loved her, but his actions did not match that.

2. (connected to #1) Gage (reluctantly) gave Kayla a safeword, and reluctantly allowed her to set a couple of hard limits. Then, the minute he got mad at her, he revoked those, no discussion, and started overriding those limits, when they were limits that really mattered to Kayla.

3. While it was obvious that Gage was a sadist, it didn't seem like Kayla was a masochist. She allowed Gage to do things to her for various reasons throughout the stories, and at times, her body responded, but everything he did hurt her in a way that wasn't necessarily sexual. She allowed him to do it because of various reasons, but she never received the same benefits that he did (and the fact that he didn't notice or care goes back to #1).

4. He used her child against her. Obviously, her daughter was the reason she was in the situation in the first place (not in a blaming sort of way, of course), but once she was in the house, Gage kept her separated from her daughter and manipulated her reactions through that separation. And the daughter was very young and sick, so it was doubly reprehensible.

5. Cheating. That whole scene with Kayla and Ian was so weird. He was so sick - dying, really - and her response was to have sex with him? At that moment? And then confess to Gage, which leads to...

6. Gage's out of bounds response to Kayla's cheating. Look dude, if you can't handle it, I understand - it was pretty messed up. But then he beat her, ignored her, stuffed her in the basement, and kept her in a cage. A CAGE! At least he let her out during the day to take care of her daughter this time, I guess. But he used this situation (back to #1) to whip her, when the bullwhip was one of her hard limits. He kept this up for a long time. It was pretty unforgiveable, imo.

7. Katherine. Everything with Katherine. Pretending that Katherine was going to perform oral sex on him in front of her, threatening to sleep with Katherine (again, in front of her) if she ever betrayed him again, not telling her that he used to be engaged to Katherine, having a kid with her that he didn't mention, etc. And every interaction where he didn't just fire Katherine and get her out of their lives. He blamed Kayle for not trusting him, but considering that he couldn't stand to see her talk to her ex, it was really hypocritical.

8. Towards the very end. Kayla leaves, and Gage has a breakthrough. Just kidding. She leaves, and he goes after her. He gets on his knees, begging her to come back, promising that he'll be whatever she needs. The minute they get home, he's like, "now for your punishment for leaving." Didn't learn a thing.

This was a long story of torture. It was pretty horrible to read. I kept reading because I just knew that there would be some character development, and Gage would become a better person that loved Kayla, and Kayla would grow a backbone. Never happened. There are stories out there that begin with blackmail or kidnapping, and develop into actual love stories (if you like that sort of thing, Anna Zaires is one of my favorites!). This was not one of them. I will not read anymore of this author's stories.

Good read, tested boundaries and loyalty

Gage and Kayla story was full on BDSM. The plot is pretty generic; rich guy control freak and desperate easy to influence woman. In book 1, Kayla agrees a contract with Gage, which involves Gage blackmailing and all access to her sexually - I'm understand the rape point from other reviewers, and it helps to set the theme of the book. There is a bit of sibling rivalry and possessive ex-husbands/ lovers. Gage has control requirements, which come across as sifling. Kayla is unable to resist temptation and seems to be stuck in the past, when it comes to her opinion on Ian. This doesn't help Gage lighten up on his control aspects. Some elements of the story seemed rushed and lacked context, i.e. so Gage went to prison for fraudulent activity and then rocked up in Texas in Merc and a private jet, hmmm really! Gage past and understanding his issues, was just skimmed, so we really didn't have a reason to go easy on him. The saga of Gage, Ian, Liz and Elizabeth, gosh this could have this own book! The Circle sex club appears pretty much at the end, no mention previously and just seems to be a bunch of blokes sat around smoking cigars, whilst degrading their wives, where's the fun. Overall, the story is worth a read. It will stir for feelings of frustration, as both Gage and Kayla act like idiots at times. There is a lot of repetitive sex and a few instances of Gage bullying other people to his submission. It's not the best dark erotic book, far from it. I was not stirred or tingled in anyway about the plot, which is unusual. Although they reached their HEA.

This is my first GJ read and it was ok. I'm pleased I opted for the full series download to complete the saga. I expect I would have given up at book1, if I individually purchased the books.

It's a worthy 3.5 stars.

"It was so bad that I would give it 0 stars but since that's not possible so I gave it a 1."

This is where I draw the line. I hated everything except lil' Eve and everyone who told Kayla that she was crazy for staying with stupid Gage.
In all the books I thought it couldn't get worse and spoiler alert, if it gets worse MUCH WORSE 😭

I didn't understand why Kayla didn't let him go around with a yes and no that stressed me out and Gage... He deserves hell, literally. He's a damn psychotic piece of shit, like okay your brother fucked your girlfriend and then for being drunk he killed her but bitch GET OVER IT, he ¹created his shitty personality based on that. I don't know how he thought of his shitty plan and said "Damn, I'm so smart" and dragged someone who had nothing to do with him.

I hated reading how Kayla was doing NOTHING for her life, she was so unhappy in her ""marriage"" (not forced at all) that everyone noticed and she was being a huelepeo with the traumatized idiot. I feel like it's more because of her past with the other crazy Rick (this one was really crazy) since Rick was 100% abusive and Gage was... on and off so I guess he thought "Meh, I put up with Rick why not him?" Gage? It's not soooo bad. I can change him🤩" and aha well. I would take her to therapy and him to a psychiatrist and pay to never let him out, he is a effing menace.

I hated that almost the entire book was sex... I got sick of reading that 😭😭 it was like???? If they weren't having sex, he was complaining stupid things to her and she said "I'm sorry 😔😞💔" GUURRRLLLL BFFR HE'S THE ONE WHO SHOULD SAY THAT AT LEAST 10 TIMES A DAY FOR 200 YEARS. They never had chapters in peace or just talking about trivial things

I have read many dark romances but this book was not for me and that is fine, para gustos los colores.

The Devil's Kiss Series Boxed Set by Gemma James contains:
The Devil´s Kiss
The Devil´s Claim
The Devil´s Wife and
The Devil´s Spawn

The Devil's Kiss by Gemma James is book one in a series.
This is a DARK Read and Not for the faint of heart !!

Kayla Sutton is desperate. Her daughter is ill and she needs money for her treatment.
She misappropriates money from her employer.
When Gage Channing, her boss, discovers her theft he forces her to choose: jail or submit to him.

Kayla agrees to sexually submission. And oh boy there is BDSM.
There is trauma, abuse, violence, degradation, evil twists, turns and surprises.

I love dark reads and I love this book.
5 Stars. Thank you Gemma James.

The Devil's Claim by Gemma James is a Dark Read and not for the faint of heart, believe me.
The Devil's Claim plays with fear, longing, arousal and much pain.
This is not a astandalone. Please read The Devil's Kiss first.

One year after Kayla walked away from Gage she's back. But also is Ian, the man Gage loathes.
Gage wants to marry her, but she refuses. He plays sick games with her. He gives her his submission for only one night. For him that is a major sacrifice.
And Kayla caves. What else?
I loved The Devil's Kiss, and I liked The Devil's Claim, but Kayla has not much backbone.

Favorite Quote: " Haven't you figured out by now that crazy is what I do best? " Gage.
I loved Gage's characters, he's strong and knows what he wants.
4 Stars. Thank you Gemma James.
The Devil's Wife by Gemma James is the third installment in this series and is not a a standalone. The Devil's Kiss and The Devil's Claim should be read first.
Beware: This is a Dark Read. There is violence, mind games, hurt and pain.

Kayla married her sadist one year ago. But she's not happy. She has very strict rules to follow. This suffocates her. In secret she volunteers at a childrens hospital.
There she meets Ian again, Gage's brother and arch enemy. Gage loathes him from the bottom of his black soul.
Ian is very sick, he has cancer.
Kayla visits him, Gage is furious and punishes her severely, more than severely.
I asked me all the time, why does she not run from him? Who wants such a life?
I liked the characters of Gage and Ian and Kayla's friend is great.
I rate this book 4,5 Stars.

The Devil's Spawn is the fourth installment in Teh Devil's Kiss series by Gemma James.
This is a Dark Read, believe me. This book is not for the faint of heart.
There is violence, severely punishment, pain and mind games, big time.

The Devil's Spawn is not a standalone. Please read in order:
The Devil's Kiss Book one;
The Devil's Claim Book two;
The Devil's Wife Book three;
The Devil's Spawn Book four.
Kayla's gonna leave Gage. And I thought- yes finally she had a backbone grown.
But Pfft. No such thing.
Not only has she to accept that he has a son with her arch nemesis Katherine, no Gage lied and lied to her.
Not only is their marriage unhealthy, she's addicted to him, totally dependent.
AND there is Ian again.
Gage demands more trust from Kayla, always more.
And she gives him all from herself her trust, her submission, her life.

The Devil's Spawn is a book that stays with you. I'm certain.
5 Stars and Thank you Gemma James.

I’ve read my fair share of BDSM romances, from mild to hardcore, but NOTHING … not a single one prepared me for Gemma James’ Devil’s Kiss series. First off let’s get one thing straight – I am NOT passing judgement on The Lifestyle, my aim in no way is to impart a negative view of Gemma, her work or The BSDM lifestyle and its partakers. With that said…

When I was given the option of doing a boxset review for the Devil’s Kiss I was quite chipper. It sounded like a mix of Fifty Shades and SE Lund’s Unrestrained series – FML, I was wrong. Gemma James left my morals in tatters. I cannot tell you how hard I tried to hate Gage Channing. He’s nothing short of a monster, truly he is the Devil incarnate. However, his immorality and sadistic tendencies are marred by his fleeting yet striking goodness. Yes, he has this hidden benevolent kindheartedness that leaves you confused and intrigued. He’s no Christian Grey, he makes Grey positively pleasant. But, despite all the unforgivable wrongs he commits toward Kayla you can’t help but cheer for him time and time again.

I don’t know what kind of person this makes me, but there were times that I almost wanted to punish Kayla myself. Look, she’s had a tough life – that’s putting it mildly… the poor girl gets away from an abusive marriage to having to embezzle money from her boss so she can afford Cancer treatment for her daughter to then being blackmailed into becoming a sex slave. That’s a ridiculously hard life if there ever was one. However, she gets off on the sex slave bit and can’t stay away from Gage. I just don’t know where to stand on this. Rape is rape. It’s wrong. But how do I place it within my moral compass when she becomes a willing participant? Does that even make sense?

I’m not going to pretend that the series isn’t lewd and salacious. Again this is where Gemma’s skill is awing, because despite the depravity it’s tantamount arousing, sensual and lascivious. The relationship between Gage and Kayla is carnal and lustful, just as it is volatile and soul shattering affectionate. These are two people that life hasn’t been kind to, and yet they’re trying to love in the best way they can. Whether right or wrong.

I’ve never quite read anything that has torn me up inside like The Devil’s Kiss has. I don’t know whether another book will come as close to leaving me morally confused. It threw me out of my comfort zone and never let me back in, yet it still made me fall in love with two individuals who I would’ve never thought to make a connection with. In reality Gemma James deserves an ovation for The Devil’s Kiss, because she sold me the Devil and I wouldn’t send him back.

So i will try and explain why i gave this only 1 star, I like BDSM books but this was wrong for me, I get Gage wanted her but they way he goes about it made me feel sick, I really liked the sound of this series after reading the blurb but OMG Kayla WTF was she thinking, I understand wanting to save her daughter and doing anything to make that happen, But Gage was not right in the head, He made her feel like she wasn't a person at all and he told her what to do where she can and can't (Which i get can be part of the BDSM seen, but he was forcing her not asking her or giving her any choice), The one thing that makes me hate this book was how Kayla was all about saving and protecting her daughter but that wasn't what she does, In one part of this her daughter asked to come back to a place and Kayla goes to say she will have to ask Gage for permission, then she stands there thinking how silly and bad that sounds. I hate to even say this but i wish i never picked this up, And yes i get this is just a story, But when i read a book i like to feel part of the book and what the characters are going through, This did bring out a lot of emotion in me but not for the right reason. I will say sorry if any if offending by my review. But please know that you might like this just because i didn't

The Devil's Kiss
Holy Moses, what a book!!
Gage and Kayla's relationship started out brutal.....
The angst and suspense of this story blew me away!!! SOOOO much deceit, lies and hurt can mess with ones head... But when the head and heart aren't on the sane page, the confusion is worse than the alternative!!!
Such an emotional rollercoaster!!

The Devil's Claim
Lord have MERCY!!!
This series keeps getting better and better with every book!!
I SO want to dislike Gage but.... I CAN'T get enough of him!!
Kayla is no doormat, but she continues to battle with her head and her heart with their alternative relationship!! !

The Devil's Wife
Once again Gemma James blew me away with yet another angst filled story about A sadist and the woman that loves him.
I seriously had to walk away from this book a few times because I wanted to crawl inside the book and smack Gage a few times!!!! Loved it!

The Devil's Spawn
The conclusion to this series is pretty bitter sweet.... All the way to the very end I was on the edge on my seat and I kept wondering "what if they don't get their HEA" I was an emotional wreck while reading this entire series and I Love the extra scenes from Gage's POV!!!
