Steve Isaacs has twice encountered epiphanies on his career path. The first came when he was taught game-based learning in high school, before game-based learning was even a thing. The next was realizing it was possible to make a career from mixing his two biggest passions: teaching and technology. Today, he’s built a classroom that paves the way for his students to have their own moments of inspiration.

these boxes. We currently use MInecraft Edu in
Year 8 History classes for Norman Castle building;
we have developed a Bawn building exercise for a
Year 9 project on the Plantation of Ulster and also
created a virtual tour of Dublin’s GPO in 1916 for
Year 10 pupils.

She focuses on classroom activities that range from Microsoft Imagine Academy and Kahoot, to Quizlet and GMetrix. “Earning these numerous certifications has given my students the confidence to know that they can be just as competitive as anyone else in this world regardless of their disabilities, background, or GPA,” she says. “In my classroom, I do not allow students to use their disabilities or handicaps as a crutch. I push my students to reach their full potential despite what they have done in previous classes or what they have been taught by society.”
