‘Stiff Drink’ is a well written story with engaging characters, humour, drama, suspense, and a little mystery. I love Genevieve! I enjoyed her efforts to make herself more British while attempting to keep her Texan upbringing suppressed. I loved her no-nonsense approach to handling Arthur’s case and her attempts to keep him out of trouble. Arthur was indeed a man of mystery and contradiction, but sincere in his regard for Gen, and his concerns for her well-being. I loved their interactions and the dynamic between them – the slow burn of an attraction that’s prohibited given that she is his barrister. I’m looking forward to Hot Toddy, and the continuation of this very entertaining tale.

5 star Review Stiff Drink (Runaway Billionaires #2: Arthur Duet #1) by Blair Babylon AUDIO REVIEW: Blair Babylon is a relatively new author to me and I am thankful that she was recommended to me. John Lane, the narrator certainly brought Stiff Drink to life for me and had me swooning on numerous occasions. His voice was spot on in my opinion for Arthur Finch-Hatten and I enjoyed the variety of voices he used multiple characters. We first met Arthur and Maxence in Cash’s story in Working Stiff and I loved them both so I could not wait to dive in to this one. Stiff Drink is a hot, steamy, at times funny and spicy book which had me totally invested from the first to the last chapter. Genevieve(Gen) is a lawyer who inherits Arthur’s case. They will test one another’s boundaries as Gen struggles to keep Arthur out of the tabloids and thereby save his earldom and her career; it certainly led to some fun times. This book was well written, witty, romantic, intriguing and all in all a great book to listen to. This is book one in the duet so you have been warned and I anxiously await it’s conclusion.

Genevieve is a lawyer about to become a full barrister. Gens mentor dies and she’s stuffed off to Octavia Hawkes and assigned the worst case: Arthur Finch-Hatten. Unless Arthur shapes up, he’ll lose everything to his brother. I found it difficult to lose myself in this book at first, I found it slow going. But, I have to admit that it was short lived. Once the book took off, I was up and running. As the book continued I found myself riveted, refusing to turn the light out and finally go to bed. I repeatedly promised just one more page, before I realised it, I had come to the end of the book. I immediately took to Gen as a character, she was open and caring and she was always looking out for others, especially if they were friends or anyone who she holds dear. Often I wanted Gen to put a certain fellow chamber mate in their place a time or two. I’m hoping she gets the opportunity in the future. I have to admit to being unsure of Arthur in the beginning. I found him shallow and self-absorbed. As the book continued I began to see that this wasn’t the case and I saw Arthur in a new light. It was plain to see that there was a much deeper connection between Arthur and Gen. This story is full of mystery and intrigue. As always with any book written by Blair Babylon, what you see is not what you get…..you ALWAYS get so much more! What is Arthur’s real job? Who is Elizabeth to Arthur? What is John’s real motivation in taking Arthur to court? Is there more going on than we think? In short, to round my review up, all I can say is this…..I’m off to pre order book 2.
