Take one hot mess of a woman, add “that” guy, the one women should steer away from because he is just too perfect and sit back for reading entertainment, mixed signals and the ever popular tug of war of the heart. Strap in tight, we will be entering the mind and heart of Valerie Wilson, numbers woman, and the train will not stop until that very last page…

He was oozing charm, intelligence and that face and body weren’t too bad, either, but there was no way that Valerie was going to drool over Charlie Solanger, the new hire who was everything Val knew would break her heart and then some. Val was determined to at least dislike him…and you know what that means, right? *wink* Okay, so he took the job she thought was in the bag for her, but his heavenly cologne kind of canceled that out with one sniff.

He is supposed to be the savior for Reynolds Paint Company, but he turns out to be So. Much. More. A little mysterious, very charming and he made Val almost believe he was interested in her, but Val is almost engaged to who she thought was a faithful, sturdy guy with big dreams, and that was safe, right?

Toss in some huge misunderstandings, underhanded machinations and a possible corporate takeover, not to mention some very catty, very nasty women and Val is a wreck, does she believe in all that Charlie seems to be or does she believe the gossip and whispers of others who knew just how to choke off her heart?

Amanda Uhl’s CHARMED BY CHARLIE is filled with funny moments, funny thoughts, a touch of self-induced heartache and not only will Val never be the same, but neither will the paint industry! Pull up a chair, grab a blanket in the sand, and get ready to enjoy romance with all of its warts, pitfalls and sweetness. Valerie is a mess, but she has a heart of gold and may be just a little too trusting, a little burned one too many times and a little too afraid to take a chance on what is standing right in front of her. And Charlie? Oh yes, he is a charmer when he needs to play the game, but oh my, I see a lot of readers making him their new book boyfriend in a heartbeat, cologne or not!

Ms. Uhl has put heart, soul and funny bone into this light romance and well, don’t be surprised if you look at paint as more than a color on the wall from now on.

A really fun, fast-paced read. Charlie truly is charming, and Val is doing her best to cope--with Charlie (who's not only gorgeous and nice, but mega-rich) pursuing her, with her fiance, who should be perfect for her but isn't, and with her job, where someone is sabotaging her company and she's being passed over for the job she deserves. A great story with a lot happening, it kept me guessing and enjoying the read from page one to the finish.

What a charming read this was!

Charmed By Charlie is an easy, quick, and fun read.

Val is working in marketing/production and loves her job. She is in a committed, safe relationship, with a guy who has no possibility of ever breaking her heart. Because he is not charming, he is not charismatic, he is not the super hot playboy type. In fact, he is the exact opposite and she is perfectly o.k. with that. Why? Because she had her heart broken and then trampled on in the worst possible way and will not risk that happening again.

Despite the turmoil and heart break of the past, she is happy. She is happy in her relationship, with her friendships, and in her job. Life is pretty much perfect at the moment. What could go wrong?

Enter Charlie Solanger. Charlie is working for Reynold's Paints as a favor to the company CEO. He is everything Val knows she can't trust. He is charming, extremely handsome, definitely the play boy type. He has heart breaker written all over him. Not only that but Charming Charlie has turned Vals safe little world upside down and inside out, from her job, to her friends, and even her relationship.

Val struggles between liking Charlie and extreme mistrust... but mostly she just avoids him by hiding in the ladies room. Is there really something brewing with Charlie or is he the devil in disguise? What secrets are being kept and will they make or break Val's perfect little world she has built? And why does she care so much about Charming Charlie when she is in love with and practically engaged to the spice making George?

Charmed is a cute and sweet story. I liked it. I thought it was the perfect light and enjoyable read. There is sweet romance, character growth, and even some intrigue!

The problem was I didn't LOVE it. I liked it. So, what kept me from loving his story? I didn't feel connected to the characters and I didn't feel their connection. I didn't feel any real emotion or feel like anything got below the surface. I also felt like the relationships were rushed. It seemed like there must have been things going on in a behind the scenes way... but we weren't privy to those moments. Instead of a slow build... it felt like no build at all. One second there was a foundation and the next a 20 story high rise. I felt like I missed out on the building phase. I also would have like to have known Charlie's thoughts. The author does a great job of letting us know in a round about way what Charlie must have been thinking via facial expressions etc., but I never felt like I KNEW Charlie. I really wanted to know him! Lastly... I wanted some sexy times, some steam, something more than a quick make out.

Even though I didn't love this book, I did like it and would recommend to anyone looking for that quick, light, and easy read.

"I hated men like the one in front of me, didn’t I?"

Valerie “Val” Wilson is a math whiz. Val is the main character in this witty and fast-paced romantic comedy. She is quirky, yet honest and dependable. She is always on a diet. Val loves her job at a large company in Cleveland, Reynolds Paint Company. She trades quips with her alter ego and relies on her “spider senses”.

She can count on numbers and complex financial reports, but can she count on men? As the book starts, Val has rebounded from a horrible relationship with Seth, her cheating fiancé. She is in a new relationship with solid, bland George who is basically her security blanket. Life is fine until the ever so charming Charlie Solanger shows up in the office. Charlie has it all- good looks, money intelligence. Is he just another heartbreaker?

Val’s spider senses tell her to run, but her alter ego thinks Charlie is worth a try. But Val has more than romantic problems- there are secrets and serious money troubles affecting the bottom line of the Reynolds Company. Who is stealing the money? There are plenty of suspects, including Charlie.

This book has a fantastic cover and what’s on the inside is even better. Readers will enjoy the wide range of characters- girl friends, parents, boyfriends, and corporate staff. The business challenges of modern life provides an interesting story arc, in addition to the romance. Author Amanda Uhl’s writing is clear and direct, with enough wit and emotion to keep it all real.

Val stays true to herself and the book concludes with a happy ending for most of the characters. I recommend this entertaining book.

I received an advanced reading copy of this book and I am providing my honest review. Charmed by Charlie is a fast paced story of corporate intrigue, family (business) values, and lost and unrequited love. The reader follows Valerie Wilson as she pursues a successful career at Reynolds Paint Co. while involved in a happy, if predictable, love match. Both of her pursuits are upended by smooth talking, handsome and, by all accounts, talented marketer Charlie Solanger. They are paired together as they try to solve the mystery of who is sabotaging their employer and friend, owner Larry Reynolds. This “coupling” raises and dashes their romantic interests in one another as Valerie wonders if Charlie is too good to be true. Is he anything like her former fiancé, the fast talking, cheating Seth Reynolds? He might just be. Author Amanda Uhl lets us in on the romantic tension and intrigue from the first page. All the reader has to do is hold on for the ride.

This is the first book I have read by Amanda Uhl and I am sure it won't be the last. Now the first couple of chapters were slow on the uptake for me. Somewhere around the end of chapter three it finally hooked me and then I could not put my kindle down. The characters are complex and some of them are very relatable. Val (Valerie) and Charlie are the perfect main characters for this book. There were a few characters I just wanted to reach inside my kindle and slap them, and then there were a couple that I just wanted to hug. This book is a fairly fast paced story of corporate intrigue, family values, family business, lost love and unrequited love. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend this read.

I LOVED THIS STORY!!! From the first chapters I found myself really attached to these characters. I found myself laughing out loud at points as the romance bloomed between the main characters and the sometime awkward interchanges that ensued. At the same time I was engrossed in the mystery and empathized with the main character being caught in the middle of a workplace drama. I found the characters to be real and easily identified with them. I literally could not put it down staying up all night to finish it!!! A MUST READ!

I was privileged to receive an advanced copy of this book from the author – and I’m pleased I did! :) ‘Charming’ and romantic, Amanda Uhl’s Charmed by Charlie is an engaging and entertaining read. I enjoyed the push and pull and the dynamics / tension between Charlie (who is, well… charming!) and our heroine Val. Swoon worthy from the get go and with a satisfying conclusion, fans of light-hearted rom coms won't be disappointed!

Charlie Solanger is a creative genius. He's also attractive, smart, charming and rich. So when he arrives at Reynolds Paint Company to save the business it's not that strange that all women are vying for his attention. All except one, that is. Math whiz Valerie Wilson is trying hard to avoid Charlie. Firstly, he swoops in and steals her promotion. Secondly, his charming behavior reminds Val of her cheating ex-fiancé Seth. The best she can do is keep as far away from Charlie as possible. But why can't she seem to get him out of her mind then?

We get the story from Val's point of view, and to begin with I find her charmingly naïve. But when she starts changing her opinion whenever she talks to someone new, it feels more annoying than charming. Why does she believe in people she knows like to cause trouble? I know it can be a logical reaction, but it doesn't mean I enjoy reading about it. Charlie doesn't always act correctly either, and I can see why Val doubts him, but his charm definitely comes through the pages, so great work by the author.

I've read some paranormal romance books by the author before, but this is the first pure romance. I get a warm and nice feeling from the book and I like the characters, despite Val getting on my nerves sometimes. If I could make a wish to all romance authors it would be to cut "the first happy ending". So many times everything seems solved, the characters are in love and happy, but it's still about a third left of the book, so we know it's too early. There's either a misunderstanding or someone deliberately wants to sabotage their relationship, and we'll have to wait for the definite happy ending. It's rarely something positive for me, I prefer when the characters realises they're an item only once, towards the end of the book. But maybe that's just me...

Everyone is charmed by Charlie, the new guy in the office of Reynolds paints. Everyone that is except Val. Val and Charlie are the foundation of this contemporary office romance but there is so much more. Through Val's alter ego we enter a world of complicated relationships, corporate greed, lies and deception. I couldn't put this book down-there were so many issues to be resolved.

Amanda Uhl contact me and I was pretty curious about Charmed by Charlie so I had to accept!
So here we go!!!

Charmed by Charlie is about one hard working women (Valerie) that loves her job and her boyfriend. Val is forced to work with Charlie, a creative genius, good looking, intelligent and charming men to save the company that she works for. But how can she resists this flirting and charming guy? The more she challenges him, the more interested—and interesting—he becomes.
What Val doesn't know is that Charlie has some secrets... How bad can they be?

Btw, I have to put here a little bit of the sinopse that I really liked!! Look:
Who or what is behind the sudden mysterious drain on their company’s funds? The only way to find out is to join forces. Then it will be a battle of wills...and a triumph of hearts.

This was a good read!! I consider that I was in the mood for this type of books so I guess that this helped. I feel that this is a good book for those times that you want to read something not too heavy but still cativating.
The storyline isn't that good. It is simple and, sometimes, a little cliché. However, I really needed this fresh, cute and simple history.
I liked Val but I was not a big fan of Bernie (her friend). I confess that I really don't know why. I was like "hum, you exist. Okay, you better not interfer with what I want, girl".

Charlie is that interesting and mysterious boy that I believe this story needed, so... good choice!

I admit that the fact that they had to save the company and they had to face more problems was really good to enrich the book. With this, this book was more than a cliché and romantic book and I really apreciated that!

Now, about the writing style: I loved it; It was simple but cativating. It was romantic, but not too much. But I have to admit that there was an expression that was always being repeated and that annoyed me a little: "my alter ego"; My alter ego this, my alter ego that.

To conclude, I really liked this book and I really recommend it if you need a cute and
entertaining book to read.

I rate this book with 4.4/5.

Charmed by Charlie by Amanda Uhl is full of humorous banter with a dash of office gossip and huge misunderstandings giving you a sweet, fast-paced Rom-Com!

Valerie “Val” Wilson is dead set on receiving her hard earned promotion at Reynolds Paint Company, however, little does she know fate has a different course. When she learns that Charlie Solanger, new guy, gets her promotion she is livid. Seems like she’s the only one who isn’t Charmed by him! New guy in her eyes is disrupting her little secure and happy life. What’s a girl to do?

Charlie is in hot pursuit to the woman who is not magnetized by his nature. Come on, who isn’t? Charlie needs her on his team within the company, but he’s leaving out important details on why he’s truly there.

Val has had her heart broken/shattered in the past. She is currently engaged to a man who is predictable, constant and absolutely no spark. So why does she stay? Deep down she knows he won’t go anywhere… but as much struggle it is to hold off on falling for Charlie, she starts to see that her boring, consistent life might just need a little more spark.

Charlie was flirtatious, appealing and of course… CHARMING! I loved all the challenges they threw at each other. Entertaining throughout!

Once again, Amanda has gotten me to read a genre I don't normally find interesting and once again I wasn't disappointed because of the strong character development. As others have said, the character development is excellent and anybody who has ever loved or been in a work environment should be able to relate to most, if not all of them in some way.

Strong character development does have a trade off, and as another reviewer noted that means that the first few chapters take some time to establish the foundation. After that foundation is set though, hold on because things are going to start moving quickly. I was up way too late reading it through to the end. Figuring out who is being truthful at what point and having to reassess your assumptions in the second half makes for a very engaging read.

Charmed by Charlie is an easy and fun read. The story has wit, suspense, and romance, of course! In the first few chapters, the characters are well developed to provide a solid foundation for the amazing roller coaster that follows! Best of all, you don't have to work in an office or a pain company to relate to the characters and their story. Charlie is really the total package and truly does seem to care about what happens to Reynolds Paint Company. While, Val sees what we see in Charlie, she seems content to stay with "safe and reliable" George - she's been burned before. Once I started reading, I couldn't wait for what each new chapter would bring!

Fast paced and engaging Charmed by Charlie draws you into the life of Val, who just doesn't know who she can believe. Still hurting from the betrayal by her former fiancée she is slow to trust and who can blame her? Every woman is gushing over Charlie, every woman that is except Val. She thinks he is too charming. What is his secret? Light romance and workplace drama combine for a great read! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Amanda Uhl has a fresh, contemporary voice and her writing flows really well. I enjoyed Val's story and the quick pace, the hints of intrigue as well as the hero Charlie. He sounded hot, hot, hot! I had a tough time with a few of the secondary characters, particularly George. I was yelling at Val to just get away from him already, he's a dud and you've got hot, hot, hot Charlie! A sign of a great story: reader reaction. I'm looking forward to reading all of Amanda Uhl's books.

ABOUT CHARMED BY CHARLIE
What happens when an author binge watches episodes of Gilmore Girls with their teenage daughter while drinking their favorite cinnamon tea? They decide to write an award-winning romantic comedy, of course! The story is set at the fictitious Reynolds Paint Company in Cleveland. Val was a Marketing Assistant for Reynold's Paint Company. Her friend and fellow worker Bernie is in her cubicle asking if Val knew the new man in the office. Calvin had been fired after their boss found out he was sleeping with his daughter.

All Val knew about the new guy was that he was gorgeous and charming. Two things she has learned the hard way to stay away from. Her soon-to-be fiance George was everything she wanted...nice, sweet, and dependable. Someone you would never come home to only to find him in bed with your roommate.

When Val is called into a meeting with her boss she is shocked to find out that the new guy was hired for the position that she had been promised. As she storms out of the office in anger she can't get away fast enough as Charlie chases her down. Charlie tells her that he was hired by the owner as a consultant and is only there temporarily to find out why the company was losing millions of dollars and needs her help finding the culprit. He promises that the position is hers when he leaves.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed. Val is a numbers girl and has trust issues. Her previous fiance, who happened to be the owner's son, had broken her heart and made her distrust all good-looking, charming men after coming home early and finding him in bed with her roommate. But as much as she tries she can't deny the chemistry every time she is near Charlie.

Charlie is a billionaire who has been chased all his life by money-hungry women. He is determined to convince Val that not all good looking men are cheating b#stards.

This book catches your attention from page one. It is full of intrigue as Val helps Charlie to find the traitor within the company. Val is pulled in so many directions as lies and misdirections lead her to almost make the biggest mistake of her life.

This book is full of action, deceit and jealousy. I highly recommend this office romance and look forward to reading more books by Amanda Uhl.

“I knew this story was gonna mess with my patience in a good way. Who wouldn’t love an enemies to lovers story? One of the things I loved the most was Val’s attitude. She was an incredible smart girl, that knows what work hard means but also the kind of person that never lose her sweet side and innocence. That’s something huge to admire when it comes to FMC. Many of them are broken, damage or so insecure it pisses more than hurt. Anyway, back to the point she was amazing! Now is Charlie’s turn lol. I thought he was gonna be the classic billionaire that’s knows is handsome and use it as an advantage to get what he wants. I wasn’t that wrong about him but instead of focusing on his previous manners I fall in love with the man in love lol. He was the sweetest ever!! It wasn’t an easy path but trust is important for a long relationship so the wait was worth their love. Lastly, totally loved the song *wink wink* if you know, you know.”

I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I seriously enjoyed this office romance. It was such an easy and light read with just enough twists to not leave you feeling a little bored. The fact that not just the lead couple, but all the secondary characters got their happily ever after most definitely left me feeling content at the end of this.

I must admit, I've read very few "office romance" stories. And even fewer that involve corporate espionage and the mystery of missing money. I really liked how this twisted throughout the romance to raise the stakes. Plus, the whole office setting was a brilliant backdrop to the while tale.

Val was a fun lead in this story. She was scared to trust (and who hasn't been there?), brilliantly mathematically inclined and just generally a great narrator voice. It meant that I absolutely adored the first person point of view that was presented and, although you don't necessarily always agree with her decisions, you can understand her motives.

All in all, I seriously enjoyed this and would most definitely read another Amanda Uhl book. It was such a lovely world in whoch to spend a few hours and left me feeling happy and content. And seriously glad I don't work in an office...

This was a lovely read. It was a similar style to Sophie Kinsella - that quirky heroine who gets herself into trouble a bit but improves her life with the help of a great hero and a fun best friend.

While I love this sort of book, there is a fine line between entertaining and frustrating, and the heroine's antics often creep onto the frustrating side. I must say that Valerie did get very close to that line. Charlie made up for it, though. He was a great character. Very likeable.

The whole book was up to Uhl's usual high standard with a well-thought-out storyline and well-rounded characters (including all the minor ones). It was an easy read and one I would recommend.

Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy of this book for free, but this review is honest and freely given.

Enjoyable, cute and likeable story.

Val has insecurities. She is working for Reynolds Paint Company because of her ex-fiance. That's the good thing that came from that relationship. She loves her job and thinks she loves her soon to be fiance George, until Charlie swoops into Reynolds Paint Company in the position that Val wanted and expected.

Charlie is charming and Val dislikes everything about him and his charm. She thinks.

Val fights Charlie's charm and she is insecure enough not to trust him when Reynolds is in trouble. Not only is Val's job she loves on the line, but so is her personal happiness.

This is an easy, recommended read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I like the way this author writes so I suspected I would enjoy this book. It is different from the other books I have read of hers but it’s a lovely, sweet, feel good read. When I finished the book I had a sense of joy and a big smile.
The plot is interesting and I liked the way events and characters lives were interlinked together. It gave the storyline a believable depth to it. The characters are great I love Val she might have a whole gang of hang ups to carry around but she’s also loyal, sassy and smart. I love the relationships between the characters too, from romantic, to friendship and into family ties.
The book is a world that is familiar but also somewhere you can escape to on days you need a pick me up comforting read.

If I didn't have to get up early the next morning, I would have stayed up all night reading Charmed by Charlie. What fun! Val is smart, competent, a professional valued by her employer. She's a woman comfortable with numbers but appealingly vulnerable when it comes to romance. Still hurting from a past relationship - one that threatens future relationships - she's not about to trust or even allow herself to be attracted to the charismatic Charlie, but heart and head are in conflict and the pendulum swings back and forth until she figures out where she'll truly find happiness. I purchased my copy at an author event.
