About this movie

The story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Common place CGI masks weak character roles and dysfunctional story line and the movie has zero creativity. This review is from a solid Gojira fan of the original and modern interpretations. The audience is expected to take ridiculous leaps of faith, even beyond what is normally considered extreme by sci-fi limits, to accept the premises of the story. Godzilla's universe and reputation is so badly violated and molested by this movie in the worst attempt to date, to suck easy money out of a well respected franchise by it's current owners. If the owner of a dog abused their pet as bad as the people behind this movie abused the reputation of Godzilla, they would have been hung drawn and quartered, for real. And from just watching the movie it was clear that Chinese money was involved due to the classic and typical tainting trademarks of Chinese backers involvement. It was so blatantly obvious in the production style and fact checking confirms Huahua Media were indeed involved. Can the USA no longer make movies without taking Chinese money to bankroll them. In the end, even the CGIs cannot help this Titanic of a wreak stay afloat.

Not sure where these high ratings are coming from, but this movie was not only full of plotholes, but focused on the squishy humans instead of the monsters - the reason for the movie to begin with. Every single monster fight seemed abbreviated and too often interrupted by pesky humans - nothing like the old school movies where you could literally just see two or more monsters slugging it out. Also, why is Godzilla such a wimp in this movie - he gets KO'd not once, not twice, but too dang many times, and then needs humans to help him... Also, why are foot soldiers standing their ground while shooting an 80 foot tall monster with assault rifles - if missiles didn't do anything do you really think your pea shooter will? I won't even explain the plot holes, which the first one appears almost as soon as the movie starts - then they just keep piling on after. Tell you what - show the monsters fighting with less human interaction. If the CGI costs too much, then put actors back into rubber suits and let them throw. Unfortunately most of the recent Godzilla movies have been completely missing the mark and so did this one.

the fights between the monsters are pretty cool but if you're expecting to listen to any of the story behind the movie Good luck 90% of the time the characters in the movie are whispering. you have to crank your TV up just to hear them. then when it switches scenes to a monster attacking its so loud that you blow the speakers on your TV
