Disgrace
Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.
After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.

Brittainy C. Cherry has done it again. She's written my favorite book of the year. Disgrace is by far the best book I've read so far in 2018. I can't say for sure if it's my favorite B Cherry book, as she's written so many of my favorites, but it's the one that's touched me the deepest. This story was relatable to me. I have felt what Grace has felt, and reading some of her thoughts and feelings shook me to my core. I love getting all the feels when I read and this one really did a number on me in the best way possible.
Grace and Finn have been married for 15 years and together even longer. Grace thought they would be together forever. Until Finn decided he wanted something, or rather someone else. Starting over isn't something Grace ever thought she would have to do, but here she is. She's back in her home town, spending the summer with her sister and brother in law, just trying to figure her life out.
Jackson Emery is the bad boy of Grace's small town. He's a bit younger than her, and his family has been nothing but trouble. The Emery's have a bad reputation. When Grace and Jackson first interact, he is prickly. But the more Grace gets to know him and really sees him, she can tell he's really a sweet and gentle soul who has just had a rough life. These two come in to each others life at just the right time.
Jackson is a funny guy. I love how he always tells it like it is. He doesn't sugar coat anything to anyone, even Grace. Grace is a character I could relate to in so many ways. I feel like I truly connected with her and her story broke me. I was beyond emotional reading this book. Grace has so much strength. I rooted for her and wanted more than anything for her to find her happiness.
Jackson and Grace were a couple that I wouldn't have put together, but they work. They are so different, but exactly what the other needs. When they say opposites attract, they really mean it. I loved watching both of them change and grow. I think they brought the best out of one another, and really, what more can you ask out of your significant other. I loved both of these characters so much. Grace's sister was amazing also. As well as Jackson's uncle. Both phenomenal secondary characters. Grace's parents I had mixed feelings about, as well as Jackson's dad. They were not bad people, just complicated.
Brittainy C Cherry is a wordsmith. Her story-telling abilities are out of this world and her writing is lyrical and stunning. Every book she's written has evoked feeling from me. Every single one. Disgrace is a story that has so much heart. It's so much more than a romance. And that's what I loved best about it. It's a story of growth, of finding yourself and loving yourself- even your broken parts. This story consumed me. It was heartbreaking, heartwarming, magical and perfect for me. I can't recommend Disgrace enough! A new top favorite of mine!

She was beautiful, that was a given, but she was also broken. Just like me. My broken pieces stayed shattered, and hers intermixed with them all. We were just two broken people, uninterested in being fixed.

“When you find you, come back to me.”
Earlier last year, I read a singular Brittany C. Cherry book that completely stole the air from my lungs. When I found out that she was writing a new standalone, I all but tore the whole house down. Disgrace was most parts beautiful, some parts substandard and all parts heart-breaking.

The Plot
I was in a conundrum on whether I should rate this 3 or 4 stars, because in truth it was both. The writing was lyrical and the characters were multi-dimensional. Above all, this was more than just a romance, it was a story about blossoming. At the end, I found myself leaning more towards the 3 star rating only because I've seen what this author can evoke, and I felt like that sense of magic wasn't all that there with this one.
That does not go to say that it was any less beautiful, because it was. Before anything I will say this as a warning to any safe -seeking readers out there: there is a crap ton of cheating in this book. (Maybe not in the sense you might vision, but there nonetheless.)
We are put right into the heart of Grace's heartbreak and the story sets sail when she reaches her old home town Chester in order to move on from her husbands infidelity and lack of concern of her wellbeing. Where she meets Jackson, a man who is truly in his heart a kind and caring creature but is forced to be the town monster because of past happenings. It's a tale about two broken people in dire need of fixing themselves and each other but finding out who they are along the way.
Another thing to add that I think is brilliant is that this must be the year of men saying it how it is.
Jackson, our hero was so real that it hurt. I love that women will pick this up and get lessons that every Romance and New Adult book should have. For example:
There were some areas of cringe-worthy dialogue and material that threw me off a bit, but I found myself coming back for the plot. It was so unique and the culture beyond the context of the book was wonderful to get into. All in all, I think what fell with those two stars is that lack of out of this world feeling you get when you read a book by her, that enchanting world consuming atmosphere.
The Romance
Jackson and Grace will steal your heart if you let them.
They will steal your heart individually and they will steal your heart together. If there is one thing that Brittainy C. Cherry can do with no problem is create characters that make your heart skip and flutter a little louder than usual. I enjoyed reading this and I really do feel like so many people will enjoy it just the same, if not more.
A lot of her books can be difficult to read because they are so heart breaking, I feel like this was more on the mellow side and although you're in for a rollercoaster of emotions - at the end of the day, this is a feel good story. Nevertheless, I didn't cry while reading this but that doesn't mean it wasn't upsetting. You feel what the characters feel through the writing and you long for them to find their happily ever after.
The romance in this book get very real. The case behind the start of Jackson and Grace's story was one that can be related to on an earthly level because its so disturbingly relevant in today's society. Saddening as it is, it's a story that will touch a lot of hearts.

I don't really care for Grace or Jackson or about their HEA although I would have liked more insight to the whys of Grace's mum and her utter lack of motherly love for Grace, in the end, I just don't care. DNF @66%

‘DISGRACE' Is a full length, contemporary romance novel by ‘Brittainy C. Cherry. In this we meet Jackson & Grace.
The ‘Prologue’ is where we first meet ten year old ‘Jackson Emery’ as he learns one of life's heartbreaking lessons when he sees his mother walking out the door proclaiming that she’s not in love with his father any more. Life from that point onwards forever changes him and his father.
The above got it’s claws into me straight away, and from that point onwards I was beyond hooked.
Grace has loved and been with Finn since she was fifteen years old, her first love. Exactly Fifteen years later we see them wrapping up their lives together, him walking out the other door for another woman, leaving Grace beyond devastated, barely able to breathe.
When we see Grace literally crashing her way into town where she grew up and the one man you would ever expect to jump to her rescue does just that, had me floundering weither I liked Jackson or not, an arrogant asshole, Jackson is the bad boy around town with a permanent scowl on his face and a chip on his shoulder, a man to steer clear from, the first name whispered on the townspeople's lips. They can't stand him and want nothing more than for him and his father to pack up and leave town. They even so much as called him the Satan's spawn, the black sheep of Chester's township.
They called me junkie because I used to use drugs. They called me a drunk because my father was one. They called me white trash because it was the only clever title they could come up with.
God my heart went out to Jackson, my first crack was reading about him as a ten year old boy, then as he got older and the darkness crept in, my heart cracked in half. Grace was the only one who saw him. She zoomed in and saw what everyone else was too closed minded to see.
Jackson Emery wore his trouble on his sleeve like it was his full time job.
Looking back at the quotes I'd saved, favourite passages there were many, too many to count, too many I want to share, too many I loved.
First off how could it not be a 5 star read (for me) god the feels, those feels came at me out of no where, I could not stand her mother, my bloody blood boiled, and I hated how Grace was so weak at the age of 30 when it came to standing up to her, but then oh so slowly we saw Grace come into her own and it was such a beautiful thing to watch, she stole my heart, I wanted to jump in the book and high five her, she changed within a blink of an eye, from weak to such a strong female within her right.
Then we get to the sad parts in this book, yep there were a few that had me tearing up, but then each time Jackson would heal me, god I have never swooned so much over a fictional character, he's everything that made my heart burst, these two together should not have worked, but in this case, they were perfectly imperfect, both broken, both scarred, but slowly oh so slowly they both healed the other and that was another beautiful thing to witness.
The towns bad boy and the towns Princess was just the perfect way to spend a winters night. There were so many life lessons one could take away from this, in my eyes this could quite possibly be the most memorable, captivating, and thought provoking romance novel Brittainy has written to date. An emotional slow burn romance that I loved from start to finish.

I’ve come to expect nothing short of perfection when I pick up a new book by Brittainy C. Cherry! Each time she never disappoints me. Her stories are filled with so much heart and what I’ve learned is that her characters are multi-dimensional. Every time I’ve hated one or more of her secondary characters for their cruelty, in the end, we learn what made them that way and there’s always room for redemption. So I try not to hate some of her characters, but in this one, it was truly a test of my patience!
Grace Harris and Jackson Emery are from completely different worlds and in their small hometown of Chester, one is considered royalty while the other is the black sheep. But both Grace and Jackson know a thing or two about being abandoned by the ones they love most and it has left them broken. Grace has come home to Chester to find solace in the arms of her family while she tries to mend her broken heart over her failed marriage. But the only people who are there to comfort her are her sister and the most unlikely person of all, Jackson Emery.
Jackson and his father have been the town outcasts for as long as he can remember. He was never made to feel welcome. Throughout his childhood, he was bullied severely and the only comfort he found was in the arms of his mother and getting the unconditional love from his loyal dog, Tucker. When his mom died, his life went with her. His father turned to alcohol and became a shell of the man he used to be. Jackson’s life was no longer his own. He stayed in a town full of people who hated him and wished him gone only because he made a promise to the one person who mattered the most to him. Years of misery has hardened his heart and he’s accepted his role as the town bad guy.
When Jackson and Grace meet, he is his usual rude and belligerent self. Grace is a little taken aback by his behavior but she’s not like the rest of the town in that she is not quick to pass judgment. She can sense there is more to his story. Grace is a people pleaser. She’s always been taught to act like the perfect young lady and never to act out and the town simply feeds off her current misfortune. The way her marriage has scandalously ended has become fodder for town gossip. Jackson ends up coming to her rescue on more than a few occasions when she finds herself in a deep panic attack.
Grace and Jackson wind up having a steamy summer romance that they both agree can be nothing more than a temporary fling since Grace goes back home to Atlanta when summer is over and Jackson is not the type of man that does relationships. Spending days and nights talking about their likes, dislikes, dreams and sharing their love for books, will soon have them realizing their hearts are far beyond entwined.
Will they be able to walk away when they have finally found their true soulmates?

Powerful Emotions
This book packs a punch, will knock you down, make you walk through a gamut, you'll look at the walls adorned with beautiful artwork of human relationships. A girl is on a brink of a major upheaval in life, which throws everything she's ever believed in up in disarray.
Our lives had been so tangled together that I was almost certain he took parts of me when he untied our love.
Who was I supposed to be now?
Was I even still a person of my own accord?
Without Finley, did I even exist?
To find a way out of this fog of deceptions and betrayals, she finds a beacon of hope in the town's monster. Together they support each other and try and fix their broken lives. The strongest underlying message is empowerment of women. Not lay down and be treated as a doormat, but find a voice and follow it, shed the shackles of their subjugation. Believing in themselves rather than feeling lost without men.creating their own identity and not losing their sparkle in shadows of their men
Love was a messy emotion that didn’t walk a straight line. It worked in waves and loops of ups and downs. It was a screwy emotion that could somehow still exist amidst the ultimate heartbreak and betrayal. .
The most amazing thing about picking up a Brittainy Cherry book is that you're guaranteed to have an emotional storm in your heart. Brittainy C. Cherry se consagra como una de mis autoras de romántica favoritas 😍 Os juro que he amado cada palabra del libro, aunque es a algo que ya me tiene acostumbrada esta autora.
Esta es la historia de Grace, ella acaba de ser abandonada por su marido y decide volver al pueblo donde creció para pasar el verano. Allí tiene un pequeño percance con su coche y se cruza con Jackson, un chico que es conocido como la oveja negra del pueblo y al que todo el mundo odia por las acciones de su padre. Lo que no esperaban ninguno es que entre ellos surgiría una conexión muy especial, y que se sanarían el uno al otro 💞 Aunque obviamente, esta historia no va a ser fácil, ya que ambos han pasado por mucho y deben superar ese pasado para poder vivir el presente...
He amado cada página. Adoro la manera de escribir de la autora y como es capaz de transmitir tantísimos sentimientos. Además, me encanta como aborda siempre temas muy importantes en sus historias y los trata con toda la delicadeza del mundo. Aquí toca temas como el aborto, la infedilidad, las relaciones sanas, la adicción a las drogas, la obsesión por lo que puedan pensar los demás de ti... en fin, mil temas que se tocan y que hacen más de este libro a parte de una simple historia de amor.
Sus personajes son maravillosos. Grace comienza el libro destrozada y sin saber quién es realmente. Y durante todo el libro es precioso ver como se va descubriendo a ella misma y la evolución del personaje. Jackson parece por fuera una persona fría, pero se esconde tras esa fachada por todo el daño que le han hecho, pero página tras página la autora nos hace conocerle más a fondo. Y sin duda he amado su historia en conjunto. Son preciosos y solo quería que fueran felices.
Los padres de Grace son como los reyes de pueblo. Su padre es el pastor y al que todo el mundo pide consejo. Pero quiero mencionar que la madre de Grace, que se ha ganado el título a peor madre del mundo en este libro. Me hartaba que le importara más lo que pensaba el resto del pueblo que los sentimientos de su propia hija. WTF! La odié con toda mi alma. No podía llegar a entender sus acciones y sus palabras. Sin embargo, Grace ha tenido la suerte de tener una hermana comprensiva y maravillosa, porque de verdad, la pobre no tiene suerte con las personas con las que se ha rodeado en la vida. Ya veréis...
Ha sido un libro que me ha mantenido enganchada (me llegó por la mañana y por la noche ya estaba acabado, y eso que trabajé entre medias 😂), cuya historia de amor me ha apasionado y donde los secretos te hacen explotar cuando los descubres. Siempre me encanta eso de estos libros, todas las cosas que intuímos pero no sabemos del todo. Y bueno, también adoro el drama, porque sin duda Brittainy es la REINA DEL DRAMA. Y me encanta que me hagan sufrir. Si no sufro o lloro con los libros, es que no me han llegado al corazón y este lo ha hecho por completo.
No me cansaré nunca de rocomendar a esta autora y a sus historias. Esconden verdaderas joyas llenas de sentimientos que no os podéis perder si sois amantes del género romántico.

Jackson becomes the only person who doesn't make Grace feel like she has to pretend to be something she's not. He reminds her that even in the darkest of times there was light. Everyone thought he wasn't right for her, but she begins to look forward to his smiles, his laugh, and his touch. Her heart begins to feel again, and the only thing in her life that made any sense anymore was Jackson. He goes from a wonderful distraction to her haven, her safe place. She finally feels like she can breathe again, and like she's where she's meant to be. Will she walk away when the time comes, or will she take a chance on love?

She blows my mind with her unforgettable stories, and her words always speak to my heart and make me feel so much! I adored this book, and yes, it is now my new favorite! ;)) It was everything I was hoping for and more. It's emotional, sexy, passionate, and inspirational. It's about second chances, love, loss, and self discovery. It's about how we grow and evolve, and about knowing your self worth, and your inner strength. Two broken people find happiness and comfort in one another, but also within themselves. It's a stunningly beautiful love story, but also a story about finding yourself. I loved seeing Grace's journey from the woman she was, to the woman she becomes. This was an easy 5 stars for me. I highly recommend it!

Safety warning:
If you dislike reading books that involve cheating, then, you should stay away from this book as the heroine is married for three quarters of the book. Her husband cheats on her many times and after learning about the many betrayals of her husband, she finds herself a boyfriend while still married. It is towards the very end of the book when she is free.
Actually, I didn't judge her morally when she found herself a lover while married because she didn't owe any loyalty to that as*hole any more; however, I judged her when she didn't ask for a divorce immediately because why would you stay married to a cheating husband for God's sake? I wanted her to get rid of that bastard of a husband as soon as she learnt about what a d*ck he was but she waited and waited... How could you wait, why would you wait!!??
P.S. No cheating between the hero & the heroine - thank God!
The plot & the characters:
Grace is the daughter of a parish and both her sister and Grace were raised to be the perfect daughters of a religious family so that they would set a good example to the townspeople.
After 15 years of marriage and 7 miscarriages, Grace and her husband fall apart. She has been cheated on many times and also, her husband impregnates his last lover!
Grace has waited for a long time for her husband to love her back but he only does want her back when she finds herself a lover. Then, it is too late because with him, Grace discovers what true love must be like.

Actually, Jackson is a good person at heart. He was the happy boy in a family until one day his mum left him and his father for another man. (She cheated on his father with another man. There is a lot of cheating in the book. Grace's father - the parish - also cheated on his wife many times).
Then, Jackson's mother has an accident and dies. After that tragic event, his father turns to alcohol and Jackson loses both parents in a way. His father is always angry and Jackson leads a life where he has to parent his parent. His aggressive attitude towards people and life stems from both this situation at home and the hatred of the townspeople towards his drunk and angry father and thus himself.

Jackson is 6 years younger than Grace. He is very rude towards Grace when they first meet but he still helps her. When Grace sees the good in him, she doesn't let go and insists on being friends with him despite his cold behavior. They slowly become friends and then, lovers. There are times when Jackson goes back to his "as*hole" self but then, he comes and apologizes, for whatever worth it is.

For a woman that has been mistreated for so long and has suffered from so many losses, I would have preferred a stronger man for Grace but despite the many weaknesses of Jackson, they made a good couple in the end. And although there have been many times I felt really pissed at Jackson, I loved him.
It wasn't only Grace who has gone through self-development in the book. Jackson also did. There has been a separation that lasted for nearly a year and during this time, both characters have found themselves.
In the book, Grace's mother goes through a major character/attitude change, which is far from convincing for me. Also, Jackson's father has been one of the biggest j*rks in the book and his major change after a brief conversation with Grace is not convincing for me, either.
The changes of both these people felt like the efforts of a writer trying to wrap up everything nicely towards the end of the book.

If you dislike reading books that involve cheating, then, you should stay away from this book as the heroine is married for three quarters of the book. Her husband cheats on her many times and after learning about the many betrayals of her husband, she finds herself a boyfriend while still married. It is towards the very end of the book when she is free.
Actually, I didn't judge her morally when she found herself a lover while married because she didn't owe any loyalty to that as*hole any more; however, I judged her when she didn't ask for a divorce immediately because why would you stay married to a cheating husband for God's sake? I wanted her to get rid of that bastard of a husband as soon as she learnt about what a d*ck he was but she waited and waited... How could you wait, why would you wait!!??
P.S. No cheating between the hero & the heroine - thank God!

This book was perfection! It gave me all the feels. Brittainy C. Cherry never disappoints.
Jackson and Grace are two broken souls that find and help each other heal. Their love is so beautiful and strong. Their story is one of heartbreak, pain and loss and believing in the power of love. They are true soulmates and even though they had to go through a lot they finally found each other.
This is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve read this year and I want everyone to read it. I cried, laughed, swooned and loved. This book is so powerful and it touched me deeply. Highly recommend it!

“ He wasn’t mine and I wasn’t his but that night, we were something”.
Brittainy C Cherry has solidified her mark in the literary world with her timeless words and effortless storytelling. I don’t even think she knows how much her words alone has touched so many of her readers and how much they mean to us.
Normally I would go a little bit into the plot and tell you what I loved and what I didn’t but for this particular story, I cant do that. The words were powerful enough in their own right and the characters held their own. But that was not the highlight for me. The highlight was the GROWTH. It was little at first and just when you think that you’re about to pull your hair out in frustration because of characters, they surprise you in the best possible way. You celebrated in their little milestone, you cheered them on when they were beginning to lose hope, and you mourned all of their losses big or small.
It was a strange thing going through all of the emotions while reading this book and I completely understood the meaning of the emotional rollercoaster. Two characters who had no business of ever being together, suddenly became each other’s refuge and light. Grace and Jackson grew up in the same town but their home life was very different and because of that, their adult lives were different as well. It’s amazing that as a kid, you envision a certain life that you would love to have but then reality comes tumbling down and that dream of yours is now just that… a dream. Or so it seems for now.
“ You think broken hearts can be fixed?
“Yes” I said, matter-of- factly.
“They just beat a little different, is all”.
I liked that this author touched on so many different emotions in this story. We were heartbroken for numerous things, saddened by the worse timing, and at times, we were enraged by the betrayals that we felt were not justified. Everything that Brittany wanted us to feel, we felt it and even though I hated certain characters and the situations the good ones were put in, I still respected what was done.
There’s no need for me to tell you if you’re looking for a nice emotional read, then this one is for you. You just need to read it.

“In his darkness, I found my light.”
Once every so often (if you’re lucky enough) you come across a book that is everything you hoped it would be and more. It speaks to you in such a profound and deep level, you don’t think you could possibly read a book that could top this one. Disgrace by Brittainy C Cherry was that book for me; it was heartfelt, emotional and above all else real. It was a touching story of heartbreak, loss, love and the powerful connection between two people who were desperate to forget their pain.
Grace has been through so much heartache and pain in recent years. When her husband, Finn after years of marriage ends it, she decides to go back to her hometown of Chester, Georgia, to spend the summer with the one person who understands her, the one person who has always had her back, with no questions asked, her sister Judy.
Grace and Finn are from the same town and are both from affluent families, so it seemed somewhat fitting they would end up together. Unfortunately for Grace, when she arrives back in Chester, more heartache and betrayal awaits for her.
“Finley always caged me. Jackson allowed me to fly.”
Jackson is the bad boy of Chester. The town-folk view him as a monster and his father as the local drunk. They would love nothing more than to see the backs of both of these men. To them, these two men are nothing but trouble. Jackson has not had an easy time in Chester since his arrival there with both of his parents. He was bullied as a child, he never had any friends and subsequently he never really felt he fit in. His parents, seeing the despair in their child, bought him his best friend, a black Labrador whom he named Tucker. Tucker was Jackson’s constant companion right through his childhood into adult hood and it was so beautiful to read; no one who is an apparent monster could love a dog as much as Jackson loved Tucker.
To say Jackson and Grace’s first encounter together was rough would be putting it lightly. Jackson is not interested in being polite for the sake of being nice, he tells it like it is and if you don’t like it then that’s too bad, but hats off to Grace because she gives back as good as she gets and doesn’t put up with his rudeness.
“After an evening of drowning, the town’s bad seed was the one who’d helped me come up for a small breath of air.”
The more Grace notices Jackson around town and the more she gets to know him, the more she realises that there is so much more to him than just being the black sheep of the town. As she begins to peel back all the layers, she gets to truly understand his sorrow and pain which in turn makes her want to heal him and also herself. To Grace there is no greater sight than seeing Jackson smile and there is no greater sound than hearing him laugh.
“We were the classic cliché. She was the good girl next door, and I was the monster from around the block. We were perfect opposites for the perfect storm, and she was asking me to be her next flaw. To be her greatest mistake.”
Grace and Jackson are so different in so many ways, but so alike in so many others. While Grace is from the most affluent family in Chester, the church family that essentially run the town, Jackson is from the wrong family, the one the town don’t want around. They have both been through so much immense pain, sorrow and heartache that they learn to trust each other, depend on each other and together they learn to forget, even if for just a little while.
I absolutely loved Disgrace and Brittainy C Cherry’s ability to tell a story with such beautiful words that had me feeling every emotion possible. Her writing is always so vivid and I felt everything that was portrayed between the pages and loved every second of it. I am in awe of Jackson and Grace’s story and could not recommend Disgrace enough.

Overall Opinion: This was a touching read about two broken souls finding love in an unexpected place. I loved their connection. I loved the unlikelihood of their pairing and that they worked so well despite it all. I think the H, Jackson, made the story for me tbh! I didn't really like the h, because I wanted her to be stronger -- but I did understand what Ms. Cherry was doing with her character, and I understood that this aspect of her character (that I perceived as weakness) was part of how she was lost and needed help finding her own way. I just personally have little tolerance to this kind of h. BUT! I felt their connection to each other regardless of my feelings for the h. I also didn't like that I had unanswered questions in the end and that there was no epilogue. Otherwise, an enjoyable read!

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

H rating: 4.5 stars. Jackson. I really liked him. He could be a jerk, yes -- but he made the book for me! He was just damaged and behaved the way he learned was most effective for himself.
h rating: 2.5 stars. Grace. I appreciated how she cared for others and was genuinely good, but I really struggled with how she let people treat her.
Sadness level: Low/moderate. I shed a few tears, but I never needed any tissues.

Grace has been in love with Finn since she was 15 years old. Now she's 30 and he's leaving her for another woman. He fell out of love with her after she stepped out of life for a bit after their miscarriages. He just couldn't do it anymore. But she still loves him. She hopes that she can spend the summer back in their home town convincing him to come back to her. But she's not so sure anymore after she sees who his new girlfriend is.
And also ... the whole town has something to say/gossip about every little thing in her life - the typical life of a pastor's daughter.
And then she meets Jackson.
Jackson used to be a sweet and adorable boy full of love for his parents and his dog.
And then his mom left when he was only 10 and his dad became a sad and mean drunk.
Now he's the town bad boy running his dad's car repair shop.
He's not doing love. He never will.
But Grace - rich girl - pastor daughter - Grace .... she intrigues him and infuriates him. She's the poster child for everything that's wrong in this little town. The royal pastor princess. Thinking she's so much better than his dad and him. But the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes she's not like her mother and the other town idiots.
She's only here for the summer and still in love with her ex - maybe he can have a few nice months with her ....

Just like with all of Brittainy's books, I cried a lot! A LOT! I almost drowned reading the last 20%!!!
It's all so heartbreakingly beautiful and sad and sweet and ugh. It was such an amazing story.
I just wanted to jump into the book and push Grace and Jackson into their happily ever after while hitting every single one of the town's residents on the head with my kindle! Ugh. Churchy small towns in America are the worst! I just hate it. I hate everything religious. And this town. Those snobby and gossipy people hiding behind their 'faith'. HORRIBLE.
Almost every page of that book had one person in it that I wanted to ... grrrrr
Grace and Jackson are so sweet and sad and broken. They would be so perfect for each other.
They would be able to heal each other and live happily ever after. But that damn town and all the people have a LOT to say to that. And also, both are not really in the market for something serious.
Ugh, I'm still not done being mad at Grace's mom. I could hate-rant on forever .... I wanted to throw her mother out the nearest window! But ... tiny little spoiler???
Please don't let me scare you away with all my hate-talk. The book was mega adorable and moving and sweet and full of love and hope and possible second chances.
I loved reading it SO much! AMAZING STORY!

Ya necesitaba leer un libro de Brittainy C. Cherry, porque ella casi siempre logra que sus libros me hagan sentir bien bonito y este libro no fue la excepción. Venía con cero expectativas es más pensé que no me iba a gustar, además que venía con ideas equivocada por la sinopsis y a mí me encantó que me encantara y que me sorprendiera para bien.
La historia es muy emocional con momentos muy tristes, tiernos y divertidos, es una historia donde los personajes tienen que encontrarse a sí mismos y tener un crecimiento para poder llegar a ser felices.
Nara la historia de Gracelyn una mujer de 30 años que ha estado con su esposo por casi 15 años hasta que él la deja y ella siente que ha perdido el rumbo de su vida y no sabe quién es sin él, ella reza para que el la vuelva amar. Ella vuelve a Chester el pueblo donde ella nació y viven sus padres y ahí se encuentra con Jackson la escoria del pueblo el chico malo
Aparentemente es el típico cliché chica buena chico malo, pero el enfoque que la da la autora es lo que me gustó porque te dice por qué ella es una chica buena y por qué él es el chico malo, Grace nació en una familia de religiosos su padre es el pastor y ella tuvo que crecer siendo la hija perfecta para ser un ejemplo, en cambio Jackson viene de una familia donde su padre es un alcohólico y una madre que falleció y sumándole que todo el pueblo los desprecian.
Grace y Jackson empiezan con el pie izquierdo no se soportan son como el agua y aceite y su primera impresión es juzgarse mutuamente. Jackson no la trata de la mejor manera es grosero con ella aunque cuando no está en su mejor momento siempre la ayuda.
Después comienzan una relación sexual y van desarrollando una amistad, esa parte donde se hacen amigos es de mis favoritas del libro, los dos son aficionados a la lectura y siempre se están recomendando libros pero de una manera muy singular en lugar de lectura del otro se dejan notitas y yo que son tan fan de las notitas y mensajitos me encantó.
Me gustó mucho como se desarrolló su relación, no fue un instalove tuvieron que pasar por varias etapas.
PERSONAJES
Grace Es una mujer con tantas inseguridades, que ha sufrido bastante y que ha hecho todo por los demás, lo que esperaban de ella y no para ella, a lo largo de la historia fue redescubriéndose a sí misma, a hacer cosas que no se había atrevido por el que dirán y sobre todo ´por la desaprobación de su mamá y al final nos encontramos con una Grace valiente segura de sí misma, con voz propia y con una gran capacidad de amar.
Jackson Lo empecé odiando por lo grosero e idiota que era pero lo terminé amando, él es una combinación de Tristan y Graham, huraños, groseros, rotos y atormentados todo eso era Jackson de un día para otro le arrebatan a su familia idílica y tiene que lidiar con papá alcohólico.
Yo pensé que en toda la historia iba a estar de mal humor y de sólo quiero sexo pero no, él me sorprendió mucho con su protección su ternura sus gestos tan bonitos y el amor que le tenía a su perro me hizo amarlo al final terminé con corazoncitos en los ojos.
Jackson ayudó a Grace a superarse a evolucionar a sanar su corazón y en el proceso el también empezó a sanar, ellos eran dos corazones rotos que juntos empezaron a pegar sus piezas.

La mayoría de las historias que he leído de Brittainy siempre me llegan porque me identifico con algo y en este caso fue Grace porque muchas veces yo he sido como Grace complaciendo a mi familia haciendo lo que se espera de mí aunque Gracias a Dios mi mamá no es como la de ella.
Me salió una reseña muy cursi I know I know, pero no lo pude evitar, además que esta historia evitó que volviera a caer un bache.

Dieses Buch vermittelt so unglaublich wichtige Werte!
Sich selbst zu finden ist nicht leicht.
In der heutigen Zeit können einige die Frage „Wer bin ich eigentlich?“ wahrscheinlich nicht ehrlich beantworten.
Es ist ein schwieriger und nicht immer eindeutiger Prozess, der Zeit braucht.
Aber es lohnt sich zu warten, geduldig und vor allem nicht immer zu streng mit sich zu sein!
Die Geschichte war herzzerreißend und wunderschön zugleich.

Gracelyn Harris feels hopeless and broken after numerous miscarriages which caused her fifteen years of marriage with her husband Finley to fall apart. Coping with the pain of losing her babies and her husband is too much. She returns to her hometown in Chester for the summer in Judy’s (her younger sister) and the pain doubles when she found out Finley cheated on her.
It’s easy to sympathize with Grace and I truly feel sorry she’s experiencing this. She becomes lonelier and lost. Being one of the pastor’s daughter, townspeople expected her to be a perfect role model. When gossip spreads about her and Finley, people can be judgmental based on what they heard. Then, she meets the town’s bad boy Jackson Emery.
Jackson and his alcoholic father were treated like outcasts. Ever since his father caused a scene inside the church, people became harsh on them and no one ever cares about their well-being. Grace sees beyond the monster they labelled on him. He’s a lonely guy but genuine and loyal by default. It’s impossible not to love Jackson. The way he cares for his father and his dog Tucker. You will just fall in love because of his unconditional love for the people he cares. Despite of his rudeness, Grace was nothing but patient on him. That’s one of the qualities I love about her aside from her resilience, kindness, sincerity and transparency.
These characters are flawed but they all have an astonishing character developments. Even the side characters who got in my nerves like Grace’s mother, Loretta Harris and Jackson’s father, Mike Emery. Loretta will get more on your nerves than Mike. She’s so manipulative and she gives more importance on their family’s reputation than her daughter’s feelings. Her audacity on convincing Grace to fix her marriage with her cheating husband was unnerving. OMG. *Rolling my eyes* I have minimum tolerance on people who weren’t practicing what they preach. However, hearing their own story toned down my anger. Somehow, they redeemed themselves became a better parent to their respective children.
Disgrace is about forgiveness, grief, self-discovery, healing and love. It’s truly one of the best emotional books I’ve ever read. It’s challenging to write a review because it messed up my emotions. I SOBBED. Jackson and Grace’s story is raw, beautiful and emotionally heartfelt. I LOVE IT! It wrecked and mended my heart at the same time, it’s freaking worth it.

Jackson Emery had trouble written all over his name. His testy personality rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and he certainly lived up to his reputation. When he met another troubled soul, they found solace in each other but also risked complications neither of them needed.
Jackson was a misunderstood character, which is something I've always enjoyed. He was angry and moody, and rightly so considering his situation. I like how he started to open up to possibilities in a non forced way.
Grace's life was a stifling existence. Everyday she succumbed to the pressure of expectations with a perfect poise and a smile on her face even though it was killing her inside. I admire her grace, but a lot of time I wish she respected herself sooner. I was rooting for her when she finally put herself first.
I enjoyed the story overall, even though I expected a lot more emotions from it. I like the dynamic between the characters and how the town played a huge role in the direction if their relationship. However, I somehow just couldn't sympathize with her. And the ending was a long elaborate glittering bow that tied it all up too nicely. I understand the message it carried, but it just felt too much.
Disgrace is a story of two broken people finding solace in each other with acceptance and forgiveness. It would appeal to readers who enjoy following characters' journey in their life changing moments.

WOW. Ugh. I swear, every time I think Brittainy C. Cherry can't get any better at writing, can't get any better at making me feel EVERY SINGLE EMOTION, can't get any better at bringing characters to life... she just goes and does it. She's like Cardi B man, she loves proving people wrong, and dang it, I love it when she proves me wrong.
This book was EV.ER.Y.THING.
“It’s okay to love someone even though they wronged you. You can’t pretend your feelings don’t exist because you’re afraid of what those feelings might mean. Sometimes, the hardest thing in the world is to love someone who broke your heart.”
I was sucked in from the very first page, the way the author used luggage to set up the scene was BRILLIANT. I fell in love with Grace, with her battered heart and kind character. To me, she embodies so many women -- women who feel like they aren't enough, women who struggle with knowing themselves outside of the men they've been with, women who do as they are told at the price of their happiness. She was so relatable in many ways, and also so easy to empathize with. I absolutely loved her.
“You’re allowed to choose yourself first.”
And then, there's Jackson. FIRE. Omg!
Jackson Emery wore his trouble on his sleeve like it was his full-time job.
He's my new favorite B Cherry man, and that's saying a LOT if you know how obsessed I am with Tristan from The Air He Breathes. I think Jackson kind of reminded me of Tristan in a way, because he was so broody and cold, but he had REASON to be. And the more we found out about Jackson's past, the more we saw him on the pages, the more I fell for him. He is EVERYTHING I love in a Hero -- broody, mysterious, grumpy yet kind, protective, and more than anything, he was a looking glass. He was the key for Grace to discover herself, and he helped her walk on her own and not only that but he told her she was BEAUTIFUL when she did walk on her own. He loved her for her, and she loved him for him -- scars and all.
"I don’t believe in you or your god, but I believe in her. No one has ever stood by my side in all my life except for her, so the least I can do is stand beside her in the same fashion. This family means more than words to her, so that’s why I’m here. For her and her alone.”

- I finished this book in two days! Brittainy cherry is an auto buy author for me because I feel like SO MUCH happens in her books! There is never a dull moment and I feel like every other page there is something going on to keep me invested. The romance is so swoon worthy and I found that this book gave a similar vibe to archer’s voice, so if you loved that book you’ll probably enjoy this one.
- This book gave soap opera vibes at times but in the best way! I really loved all of the themes it covered - family drama, learning who you are, setting boundaries, and loving who YOU love and not who people around you think you should love.
- I have such a hard time finding small town romances by black authors so this was a fun read! I do wish that there were black characters in this story, that tossed me for a loop but overall the story was so so good and I’d definitely recommend.

“Always and always.”
How can you not love a Brittainy C. Cherry book? She spins a tale that is so in depth and full of emotion that it grips you hard and doesn't let go and this one is no exception.
Grace has always been the good preacher's daughter...always doing what she's told and most importantly what's expected. So, when her husband leaves her after cheating on her multiple times, she doesn't know what to do with herself. Enter the town's bad boy, Jackson Emery.
In fact, he saves her when she barrels back into town and he's not happy about it...or her and he lets her know it. Grace sees something in him and she just can't stay away. It helps that her car is in his auto shop so she has a good excuse.
It also helps that they share a love of books and as they get to know each other, they find out even more.
But...but, this story has the most "awfulest" church going town people e-v-e-r! It was just too over the top and that's why this book didn't get a five star from me.
I love Grace's sister, Judy, she is so amazing and unexpected, as well as, her other best friend, Josie. Their common heartache was a bit much to take...I just can't imagine.
There are some hints of another connection between Jackson and Grace's families that spurred me on to get to the juicy details. I only felt saddened by what happened and what didn't.
The one thing about a Brittainy C. Cherry book is that it will make you feel. Your heart can't help but go out for both Jackson and Grace and several of the other characters especially Tucker. :(

How can you not love a Brittainy C. Cherry book? She spins a tale that is so in depth and full of emotion that it grips you hard and doesn't let go and this one is no exception.
Grace has always been the good preacher's daughter...always doing what she's told and most importantly what's expected. So, when her husband leaves her after cheating on her multiple times, she doesn't know what to do with herself. Enter the town's bad boy, Jackson Emery.
