CHESTER, Pa. (Apr. 22, 2017) – Freshman Megan Kitchin (Media, Pa.) factored into three season-best times and sophomore Allison Reuter (Clayton, N.J.) registered one of the nation's top marks in the hammer throw to lead the Widener University women's outdoor track & field team at the Widener Invitational on a super-soaked Saturday afternoon.

On the track, Kitchin started the day by anchoring the 4x100-meter relay team which won its heat in 51.27 seconds. The foursome also included freshman Claire Burkert (Mohrsville, Pa.), junior Kaylynne Timmons (Clayton, N.J.) and sophomore Kat Mackel (Abington, Pa.). The freshman then won her heat in the 400-meter dash by navigating the track in 1:01.25 before ending the day on the high note as a member of the 4x400-meter relay which hit the tape third overall and first among NCAA Division III institutions in 4:05.81. Sophomore Aishah Dukes (Trenton, N.J.), Mackel and Allison Gallagher (Souderton, Pa.) were also part of the 4x400 relay group.

In addition, Dukes and Gallagher continued to establish themselves as two of the Middle Atlantic Conference's top student-athletes in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles. Dukes placed sixth in 1:06.94, while Gallagher was 10th by circling the track in a season-best time of 1:08.86. Another notable performance on the track was made by junior Maddie Mayes (Hillsborough, N.J.), who punched in a personal-best time of 2:21.21 in the 800.

After posting the league's top mark in the discus throw on Friday, Reuter matched the feat by placing second overall and first among NCAA Division III student-athletes in the hammer throw to close out the weekend. Her toss which sailed 163-feet, 4-inches also ranks among the top 30 nationally this season.

Widener will next head to Haverford to compete at a tri-meet on Tuesday, Apr. 25 at 4:00 p.m.
