‘Nowhere near the quality’, ‘No thank you’ – Liverpool fans do no want this PL star at Anfield

Liverpool have once more been linked with a move for a Southampton player and this time it is defensive midfielder Mario Lemina who is attracting their interest, according to a report.

L’Equipe, a French news provider, has stated that despite only joining the Saints for a fee of £15million from Juventus last summer, Jurgen Klopp has lined him up as a potential partner for the incoming arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

Liverpool have a number of Saints stars on their books with the likes of Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Nathaniel Clyne. and Dejan Lovren all arriving at Anfield via the south coast club.

However, the 6ft defensive midfielder is under contract at Southampton until 2022 which means the Merseyside club will have to cough up if they are serious about landing their projected target.

News of the reported swoop has been greeted largely with indifference from the Reds faithful who cannot believe their club is being touted with a move for yet another Southampton player.

Not only that, but there were a number of supporters who felt that the 24-year-old was not good enough to meet the expectations the club is heading in.

Here is a selection of Twitter responses from supporters of the eds after hearing the rumoured interest in Lemina:
