Overview

"Pyramids, Temples and Vodka: The Journeys of a Young Woman of Color," written by Nicole A. Ashley, tells the story of a single black woman from New York, who after her mother passes away from cancer, decides to take a leap of faith and live life to the fullest on her first of many overseas adventures.

She experiences her first camel ride in Egypt where she learns about Pharaohs, Mummies, and the Great Pyramids. She then embarks on a mini-adventure on to the beautiful island paradise of Jamaica, the leading tourist destination in the Caribbean.
And that's only the beginning! On one of her exploits, she wakes up in the middle of a hospital in Jaipur, India, after passing out outside of a nearby temple. Towards the end of her journeys, Nicole discovers aspects about herself that she would have never learned had she not booked her first ticket abroad.

Ms. Ashley's memoir is meant to inspire women of all ethnicities and age groups to get out of their comfort zones and live life to the fullest whether near or far, the tropics or the coldest region on earth.
