The Albertus Magnus College Class of 2022 is the college’s largest first-year class since 2010. Students arrived on the New Haven campus on August 26 ready to soar.

On move in day, a long line of cars snaked from Prospect Street to Dominican Hall as Albertus welcomed 156 first-year students and 28 transfer students to the heart of campus. As parents, grandparents, and siblings poured out of packed cars, they were greeted by President Marc M. Camille and dozens of members of the Albertus family, easily identified by their Falcon Blue t-shirts proclaiming, “Welcome Home!”

Ninety percent of the class of 2022 come from Connecticut, with others from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Students will complete a three-day orientation; classes begin August 29.

Speaking to new students and their families, President Camille noted that "Degree completion not only needs to be the goal, it needs to be the expectation." At this moment in time, the Albertus experience, he said, “will be exciting, inspirational, stimulating and all about students.” He also thanked parents for entrusting their children to Albertus noting, “I am a college parent as well as a president, I understand exactly what you are feeling right now.”

Sean-Michael Green, vice president for enrollment management, said “I am excited to share the next four years with our newest students and their families. These students will have a front-row seat to the creation of new facilities, academic programs, and athletic teams.”

Sixty-two percent of the class of 2022 will be living on campus. Eighty-four student-athletes who make up 39 percent of the class will be involved in 15 NCAA Division III varsity sports, including men’s and women’s basketball, soccer and lacrosse; coming up next year is men’s ice hockey, with home games in New Haven’s renovated, historic Ralph Walker Skating Rink.

Twenty-six members of the incoming class have earned their place in the Albertus Honors Program. Fifty-nine percent of students received $15,000 or more in merit scholarships; sixty-four percent are Pell Grant recipients; thirty percent are first generation students; Forty-five percent of the class is male, and 55 percent is female. Nine students are New Haven Promise Scholars; 8% of students are Legacy affiliated.
