JK attended the match with her husband Neil Murray and admitted to social media followers that she only recently got "emotionally invested" in the sport.

She said: "For confused followers, it's the Calcutta Cup, the oldest international in the world! Scotland versus England.

"So my next tweets will be mostly incoherent monosyllables because after years of not caring about sport I got emotionally invested in Scotland team."

But fans couldn't get enough of the updates from the author - some even tweeting about their own support.

One fan said: "Seeing you happy about rugby is making me happy."

While another said: "THIS is the Scotland team I’ve been waiting to see all Six Nations!"

And one Twitter user added: "I'm even more nervous now....this lead could so easily change."

But not everyone was happy about her tweeting.

JK Rowling said: "My husband just told me I wasn't allowed to tweet what I wanted to tweet. Sco 22 Eng 13."

She added: "He still won't let me express myself freely. Sco 22 Eng 'just shout it, there's no need to tweet it'.

"SCO 25 ENG 13 THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING BUT IT IS."

Scottish Potter fans will be delighted by the opening of Clause 73 - a Harry Potter themed shop in Glasgow.

And muggles and wizards alike won't be able to get enough of the Harry Potter sorting Easter Egg.
